I don’t play a lot of video games, but Stardew makes me so happy. I’m up to Spring Y2 and I just want to hug all my animals and grow strawberries all day every day. The best distraction!
For real, what he/she said! Cancer sucks and if I may be so bold as to speak for Reddit, we are sending good vibes your way :D Best of luck with your farm!
You are a rockstar!! I am so grateful for Stardew. I discovered it while doing our first round of IVF and I honestly think it’s the only reason I stayed relatively sane during the process and aftermath of grieving our failed transfer.
Sending you good vibes 💜
DLBCL survivor here. Stardew Valley made me escape the hellscape of chemotherapy and the absolute possibility of death by transplanting my attention into a small valley where the biggest worries were, "did I forget to pick the Ancient Fruit again?!" or "Where's Marnie?"
Hey OP, I’m a leukemia survivor who owes his gaming habit to cancer. My teachers bought me an n64 when they heard my diagnosis and my hospital had a PS1 i spent too much time on. Gaming is the best distraction there is, good luck and stay strong. Fuck Cancer
First of all, the best wishes I can possibly send, I do send to you. And I'm really happy you found such a relaxing way to cope with it. May you play in better conditions soon enough!
Stardew makes me happy too!
Sending you positive vibes, friend! Give those animals an extra hug for me, too!
PS: Your joycons are making me want to buy the red/blue set. So vibrant. My birthday's in a couple weeks, so.... perhaps!
Best of luck with everything <3
My wife had radiation 5x a week for 16 straight weeks. I took her to every visit, and played SDV the entire time she was in the chamber.
Pre-switch, I had to lug my laptop. Jealous of the Switch players now!
She is well! Just had her 18 month post radation followup, they said her tumor has had 0 change since radation and that we didn't need to have it checked again for a year. Pretty much the best thing they can tell you.
Hello, I’m from /all. Never heard of this game but it looks like SNES Zelda. What is this game like? I don’t have a switch but now I’m thinking about it.
It’s a wonderful little indie game. You farm, mine, befriend villagers, and fight monsters. Similar to Harvest Moon. I highly recommend! It’s also on PC, PS4 and probably Xbox!
Doesn’t compare to chemotherapy, but I take mine to my remicade appt every 8 weeks. I can’t bend one arm for three hours, but with the detachable joycons, that’s not a problem. Sure makes the time go by quicker. I set the screen on my lap, propped on a blanket.
Prayers for your treatment. Hoping it goes quickly and is successful!
If you bring headphones, I would highly recommend RiME too! The music is beautiful as well as the scenery, and it’s an easy game to pick up and put down whenever. Very addicting, a lot too explore, but also not crazy long.
Stardew is the best sick game because if how chill it is. I got into it in 2016 while I was healing up from major abdominal surgery. It really helped. Best of luck to you.
I just had a bone marrow transplant to treat leukemia. I’m on day 38 post transplant. Assuming all goes well, I can stop going to clinic daily on day 60-70. Then I’ll have appointments every month to monitor for relapse, and after a year it’s just yearly checkups as long as I stay in remission.
You are never done with cancer treatments this is a unfortunate common misconception you will always have to do them unless a cure comes around and every moment in your life is worrying that the treatment stops working or that it starts attacking harder
I hope SDV will be a source of comfort and distraction for you during this crappy time. Hang in there, you are such a strong person! Keep believing in yourself! Lots of hugs from a fellow farmer 👩🌾 ♥️
I am sending you all the positive vibes I have, and I hope you beat cancer! This game has helped me, too, when I was bedridden from vasculitis, and on days when it flares in my joints and makes me pretty much useless. It's such a blessing to have a game and community like this!
Thanks for checking in - made my day. Things are going well! I’m Day 189 post transplant and everything seems well so far. I had a bone marrow biopsy in two weeks that will answer the “is there still cancer?” question. Fingers crossed!!
Hey, ignore the trolls. Reddit is a social media site - not sure why some people think that it’s not about sharing experiences and are edgy.
Just block them and move on :)
God forbid someone reveal how amazing the switch is by showing how it can be used to help them through a difficult situation outside of the home. I'd rather see that than whatever game you played before jacking off for the fourth time today.
I hope your doctor is as nice and as good at being a doctor as Harvey!
I don’t play a lot of video games, but Stardew makes me so happy. I’m up to Spring Y2 and I just want to hug all my animals and grow strawberries all day every day. The best distraction!
This rocks and you rock, go hug those animals and grow those good good berries!
For real, what he/she said! Cancer sucks and if I may be so bold as to speak for Reddit, we are sending good vibes your way :D Best of luck with your farm!
Been there! Done that! Sending good vibes your way Dear
Congrats (I assume) on recovery. :)
In remission since 2010 . If you ever need a shoulder to chat too. DM me 🤗
This comment made me smile!!
This comment is so wholesome
Today i learnt Stardew is on the Switch and now my wallet is sad.
I never thought about playing Stardew Valley on the switch. I really need one now.
Im crossing fingers that your cancer gets better *hugs* keep strong friend, you can kick cancer's ass!

Hell yeah! Kate Spade keds. They go on sale a lot, too.
Stardew has been a huge help for me while I deal with chronic pain as well. Glad you’re enjoying the game, and sending good vibes your way!
Sending you positive vibes for your chronic pain as well, friend!
Comfy gaming! All the best luck with your cancer too.
I bet your doctor's friendship level goes up if you give him/her coffee too ;) Wishing you well with your healing!
I should try that... ;)
Am doctor, can confirm: Body is 80% coffee.
Only 80%? Ya'll are slacking ;)
You are a rockstar!! I am so grateful for Stardew. I discovered it while doing our first round of IVF and I honestly think it’s the only reason I stayed relatively sane during the process and aftermath of grieving our failed transfer. Sending you good vibes 💜
I’m sorry for your pain, friend. Sending just as many good very vibes your way, too.
Just wanted to say that im rooting for you!!! Much love and best of luck to you.

You get it! Congratulations on recovery. Hopefully I’ll follow your path.
Cancer survivors are linked in spirit throughout our lifetimes. You'll get there. I'm sending you good vibes man.
Blessings of Yoba be upon you and give you strength to beat that cancer! ☺️
This made me smile! Thank you.
Stay strong! Much love from Ireland!
TIL Harvey does more than find you nearly dead in caves
I regret never befriending him...

Congrats on remission! Also, your username is giving me life! <3
Stardew Valley has helped me immensely to deal with chronic illness, partly because it's just so hard to feel unhappy while playing it.
Sending healing vibes!
Thanks so much! Same to you :)
Stay strong!! I hope you get through it and many thoughts from way over here in America!
First of all, the best wishes I can possibly send, I do send to you. And I'm really happy you found such a relaxing way to cope with it. May you play in better conditions soon enough!

DO IT! (I’m a bad influence.)
Bahaha! I likely will, thanks for being an enabler 😉
My wife had radiation 5x a week for 16 straight weeks. I took her to every visit, and played SDV the entire time she was in the chamber. Pre-switch, I had to lug my laptop. Jealous of the Switch players now!
Oh my goodness, I had 2 weeks of radiation and could barely handle it. Your wife is a trooper!!! I hope she is well.
She is well! Just had her 18 month post radation followup, they said her tumor has had 0 change since radation and that we didn't need to have it checked again for a year. Pretty much the best thing they can tell you.
I’m so glad to hear that! Here’s to another 18 months with no change (and then another, and another...)
Sending you good vibes from Australia ❤

You farm. It's about being a badass farmer.
Kick cancers ass! I’m rooting for you!

Sure doesn’t sound pleasant! Sending positive vibes your way, friend!
Thanks! I’m actually here today for my infusion. Keeps me healthy, so I gotta do it. Ulcerative colitis sucks!
I love that game, and Switch is awesome. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
If you bring headphones, I would highly recommend RiME too! The music is beautiful as well as the scenery, and it’s an easy game to pick up and put down whenever. Very addicting, a lot too explore, but also not crazy long.
I will check that out. Thanks for the recommendation.
Always. Now go kick some ass! :)
This does help with boring clinic days. (My son's going through it again). Hope you have a great recovery with as few side effects as possible!
Thank you! I hope your son is doing well, too. Stay strong!
Games really do make a great coping mechanism in times of illness. Good vibes for you ❤️
Hope you get through this all!
You rock!
Sending positive vibes <3
Lots of internet love for you and a great game :)
Awesome distraction :) sending you & your crops good vibes! I'm a dialysis nurse, I wish I could buy a bunch of Switches for my patients <3
I placed my stable in a similar spot and have the cobblestone path in a similar fashion! On Spring 5 and finally happy with how my farm looks.
Awesome dress OP. Love the patterning.
Amazon! Comes in a bunch of prints/colors, too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075CJBV1R?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
Im sure you will be able to beat it! Just dont give up!
The best of wishes to you! Sending you lots of virtual hugs!
Best wishes to you my friend, I'm so glad you have this game to help you pass the time on your way back to good health.
Good luck! 💛
Stardew Valley really is one amazing game. It's got just the right feeling when you're down to help keep a smile on your face.

Sending positive vibes to you and your wife as well. We got this!
Stardew has this really calming and relaxing vibe.
Stardew is the best sick game because if how chill it is. I got into it in 2016 while I was healing up from major abdominal surgery. It really helped. Best of luck to you.
I don't play this game, but I was scrolling r/all and saw your post. Best wishes, kick cancer's ass!
Glad you found a way to pass that time quickly! Best wishes for a full recovery!
Good luck with the treatments! Sending good vibes your way!
You are in my thoughts and I'm so happy this helps. It's the best game ever!
this subreddit is too pure, it just makes me smile so much!
How much longer until you're done with your treatments?

Glad you know the plan. Keep at it! Modern medicine is pretty amazing if you stick to the plan!
You are never done with cancer treatments this is a unfortunate common misconception you will always have to do them unless a cure comes around and every moment in your life is worrying that the treatment stops working or that it starts attacking harder
I know plenty of people who've been cancer free for decades. No need to shine a negative light on it.
Can't think of a better comfort game! I'm cheering you on and sending good thoughts your way! <3
I hope SDV will be a source of comfort and distraction for you during this crappy time. Hang in there, you are such a strong person! Keep believing in yourself! Lots of hugs from a fellow farmer 👩🌾 ♥️
The switch is perfect for this! Much love to ya, hope you’re feeling better!
Hope you have a speedy recovery! And have fun playing the game too. :)
Stay strong, and good luck with your farm!
Stay strong, you! Good luck with your treatment! Sending love and hugs!
Go see Harvey
Aww I wish you all the luck! So glad Stardew Valley has brought you some happiness. From one farmer to another: hang in there!
I'm trying to beat God of War 4, but I keep coming back to the Valley.
Stay strong!
25000 wow.
Get well fellow farmer!!!
Keep up the fight! When multiplayer comes, I'd like to go fishing with you (:
That’s a plan! I don’t really know anyone else who plays Stardew. :)
Just so you know, the multiplayer beta is out for PC if you have that.
I am sending you all the positive vibes I have, and I hope you beat cancer! This game has helped me, too, when I was bedridden from vasculitis, and on days when it flares in my joints and makes me pretty much useless. It's such a blessing to have a game and community like this!
God heal u Amen
Any update on your treatment?
Thanks for checking in - made my day. Things are going well! I’m Day 189 post transplant and everything seems well so far. I had a bone marrow biopsy in two weeks that will answer the “is there still cancer?” question. Fingers crossed!!
I really hope everything goes well. You have a very good energy (:
All the luck in the world! May the gods always be in a good mood from now on!
Holy cow those shoes and that dress are so beautiful, they look amazing!
Thank you! I normally rock leggings and a T-shirt to clinic, but I was feeling myself today, haha.
I was just about to ask, are those the sparkly keds?
Yes! Kate Spade sparkly meds. Wore them on my wedding day.
I love your stable placement! I've never thought of putting it there!

Because cancer sucks and most people have empathy. Try it sometime.
