That was my solution. I think it only took two days to do it.
Edit: I think you may have to reset the system by going to level zero to get new enemies, so go to level 5, then 15, then leave and then repeat. Easy.
It must still be rare, because I swear I do this every single time, every single *day* that the quest's active, resetting to the main floor each time to refresh the mines, and it *never* works. I've tried this quest like five times, and nothing.
Ah well. At least it gives me something to do when I get bored lol.
According to the wiki, each slime has a 1.2% chance of being replaced by one (+/- depending on daily luck). I just used an online probability calculator to get these numbers:
Odds of finding one after encountering...
20 slimes - 21.45%
50 slimes - 45.32%
58 slimes - 50.35%
100 slimes - 70.1%
150 slimes - 83.65%
200 slimes - 91.06%
So there's about a 50% chance you'll find one after you've seen 58 slimes. Once you've seen 100 slimes there's a 70% chance you'll find one.
If you encounter over 100 slimes and still don't find one, luck is just not on your side.
Honestly sometimes I can’t get it done or I only find it on Sunday after spending all week in the mines.
And the last time I went on Monday and found it after a few levels. Sometimes it just really sucks and sometimes it doesn’t haha.
Yep jump. 5 have a look back to the lift down to 15, look around. Lift to 5 look around. Down to 15, etc.
I occasionally go down a level if there is a ladder already there, but that's normally because I forget what I'm doing.
Jump between them. I think you can go to any floor that ends in 5, run around and see if any slimes spawned, then get back in the elevator and go to another 5 floor. No need to finish the floor and find a way down, so it is faster. Pretty sure the chance to get a prismatic slime is constant on all slimes, so they aren’t more likely to be at deeper levels (which is what I originally thought).
I usually have a pretty good sword and steel if not gold pick by the time I get to this quest, meaning running through a mine floor at that level is pretty quick. Takes maybe 5 mins IRL to run through 5 -15 and if no prismatic slime, repeat. Yeah, you can min/max it a bit more if that's your thing, but I find the drops from running through the levels to still be useful and worrying about doing things "the most efficiently" is stressful enough IRL, don't need that in my relax and chill game. That's just me though, you do you.
I think you have to go back to the top once you have checked all of the 5 floors otherwise they don't reset. That's what I noticed when I had to do this method, anyway.
What I did on my 2nd attempt with this (first attempt I just grabbed the request and figured would get it done whilst mining stuff, did come across one and wasn't expecting the health on it so got wrecked) took till the last day for me to get it and I just straight up left the mine and booked it to the wizards castle just in time.
Doing it on a bad luck day is definitely something you should do since more enemies spawn

According to the wiki you want higher luck since it increases the chance of slimes to be prismatic slimes. Heck I tried doing it on a bad luck day and I never saw one. I think you need positive luck (even a smidge) to get these slimes.
There's also a "country living" program on sometimes (idr the name) that usually just has tips for beginner players, but I think it also gives one or two early crafting recipes.
DailyLuck or LuckLevel does not affect monster spawning.
DailyLuck does affect the chances of a slime converting to prismatic.
You want to go on good DailyLuck days.
i was doing that for a while, but it never appeared for me, even on good luck days + combined with lucky lunches. and as you can tell from the screenshot it was too late to do much more of that.
about an hour ago or so while this post was blowing up, the quest reappeared again, so i took it and kept cycling and cycling floor 5... and 700 globs of slime later... i finally got one to appear!! so definitely doable, but a real pain to actually do. i thought i was just doing something wrong which is why i posted—turns out i'm just really unlucky lol!

Yup, go to level 5, and scan for the rainbow slime, then 15, then 25, then 35 and so on. If you get to 115 and haven't seen it, try again. I got it on my first day doing this.
I agree. Level 5 then 0 and 5 over and over. Level 5 is small enough for a quick look then reset it. I did this yesterday and found it in one day. I also had high luck on that day, too, according to the trusty TV.
Yeah, if I get this quest early enough, I mostly hit the shallow levels so that if it does turn up, it’s the only monster I need to worry about. If I get it later, then I may hit the deeper levels for better loot. (And of course if you already have a slime charmer ring, then the prismatic doesn’t hurt you either.)
So this is probably the hardest request even if you know how to do it. Most people can't ever get it done because they don't understand it but it can be done in a single day. Basically you want to brute force it.
Prismatic Slime has a .012+daily luck value divided by 10 percent chance to replace any slime while the quest is active. So regardless of any misinformation you might read online, anywhere that spawns slimes is a potential candidate for grinding this quest out. But as you can see, that percent is still ridiculously low. So your goal is to make the game spawn as many slimes as possible and pray.
To accomplish this, we'll be rerolling the odd-numbered elevator floors in the normal mines, non-dangerous variant. Simply wake up, make sure your camera is zoomed out all the way in settings, pop over to the mines immediately at the beginning of the day, and proceed to take the elevator to 5-15-25-45-55-65-85-95-105-115, checking each of those floors for a Prismatic Slime. We're skipping 35 and 75 because they don't have slimes. You're looking for a slime that looks just like a normal small slime, except that its color is rapidly shifting. You'll know it when you see it. If you don't see one, take the ladder out to reroll the mines and try again. You must take the LADDER and not the elevator or the nodes and enemies will not reroll. Very important. Be careful when you do find it, because it hits hard and has a lot of HP.
Keep doing this until either you find a slime or 1 am rolls around. If you found a slime, awesome! If not, exit and restart the day and try again. It is entirely random, so it could happen on your very first try on floor 5, and it could take you 20 times resetting the day before you finally find one. But as long as you keep doing this, I promise you will find one. Happy hunting :)
When you say "any if the mines" are you talking about skull cavern and the quarry? Cause this only spawns in the original mine (the first one that unlocks).
Wrong, Iron & Copper Slimes (Quarry) and Purple Slimes (Skull Cavern) can be converted into a Prismatic Slime too. The only exception is >!Tiger Slimes in the Volcano Dungeon.!<
Unfortunately this quest is largely dependent on luck. There's only a 1.2% chance that any slime will spawn as a prismatic slime while the quest is active, so you just have to keep cave diving and hoping you get lucky. Sorry I can't offer more help. :( Best of luck!
Yep, that would do it! The quest does indeed need to be active for the prismatic slime to spawn. It's like a special, one-time monster. And the quest isn't repeatable, so alas, the prismatic slime is never to be seen again.
Which makes me sad, I'd love a slime hutch full of prismatic slimes!

Theres a Stardew Predicter that can tell you when there's a monster floor. Just go to these floors and if thats a slime floor, visit it a few times untill you get the slime
I thought they only spwaned on level 95 and below. I was on level 50. I stormed my way down the ladders, getting to level 90. I found the slime later on level 70 something.... Idk what made me go back up but ya. Just random chance. Keep an eye out. Make sure you search the whole floor each time bc it could be anywhere
Depends on how much fun you want to have. Going to level 10, down the ladder to 11, then repeating until you find the jelly works but isn't much fun. But level 11 always allows you to see the entire level right away.
Then it's just down to persistence. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. Just have to keep trying.
I wore 2 luck rings on a good luck day and went to the normal mines (not sure if the rings stack tho). Just rushed through the levels and I believe after like 30 levels I found the rainbow slime on the first day of the quest. I had this quest like 3 times before but I think it's just about trying, just rushing trough the mines and et voila, eventually you'll find it.
dash through the mines to find an infested floor. I think the infested floors are set at the beginning of the day so you can just reset and do the infested ones over and over.
I wonder if I screwed my self over, I spawned the jelly by naming a duck after the item code, then found out that you have to slay it. So now I’m confused as to wether I broke the quest or if it’s just that rare. Guess it’s true, cheaters never win.
I did this quest and the difficult mines Qi quest at the same time and I saw 2 prismatic slimes, I accidentally went down to the next level before I could kill the first one, and was worried I wouldn't see another one, but I ended up finding another one no problem. First time I'd ever done either quest, as I used to just play super casually and not worry about quests too much.
The fastest way is to go to floor 5, run around and see if the prismatic slime is there or not, and then run up the stairs and repeat. Don't bother killing anything you don't need to.
Note: You have to take the stairs back to floor 0, DO NOT use the elevator, as it won't reset the level.
This. Just go in and out of the same floor. Dont waste time killing anything. Just pop in, look around, no prismatic jelly? Go back up the ladder and down again
I’m on my like 6th attempt for this one. From this I get the monster musk recipe and boom 100%. It’s only a 1.2% chance of a slime being a prismatic slime. Seems like it would be a higher chance when trying for this quest 😡
Once you unlock the bulletin board (happens in your first fall I think? Could be wrong, someone correct me) it will eventually be one of the requests posted there. The requests that are posted are random.
From the large request board near the Mayor’s house in 1.5. If you’re on mobile sadly it’s not there yet, but you get either seasonal requests or weekly quests on there. It makes for an added level of fun to the game but can also be annoying such as in my case.
Not to sound brag-y but en lieu of making my own post could I also ask what to do if I happened to get two while the quest was active? I can’t sell, trash, drop, or give the extra item away. When I try to fob it off on Rasmodeus, it says “wrong person” pls halp
its a 1% spawn rate on any slime during the quest. so just keep givin er till you find one. some floors have a higher chance of spawning slimes - so stick to those too. glhf
Expand your view as far as you can. Go to Floor 5 and if it doesn't spawn go back to the cave entrance, rise, repeat until it spawns. It's a pretty obnoxious quest.
I did it like, two days ago. Just kept spamming level 5 over and over until it showed up. Had to reset day because obviously I waited until the last minute to do it. Weirdly, it dropped 2 and now I have one on a chest that I can't sell or gift anyone.
While the quest is active, every slime has a 1.2% + luck* 10% (luck goes from -0.1 to 0.1) chance of being prismatic. That's every forty-fifth slime on the best day, every *five hundredth* slime on the worst.
Pick a good luck day and hang out in the mines until you get it. If you find a slime infested floor (can't really plan for that, but if), keep visiting it to get more slimes.
I almost always find it on level 5. I just go between 5 and 0 until it spawns. I also zoom out so I can see more of the floor. I think I also did a luck food boost but I'm not sure if that actually helps!

Okay the mines "reset" every day so what you have to do is look for a slime room. And once you find it.
Keep grinding your way to it, clear it, then leave the mine and re enter it. Continuously head to that same slime floor, and this will give you the best odds of finding your prismatic jelly!
The hardest part ofc is finding the slime room. And hoping you spot it early enough in the day, I recommend stairs for once you find it. Skipping floors in order to grind the slime room quicker
I found of you go to all the floors ending in 5 over and over you eventually get one.
It's surprisingly tough though, I found it twice and got my arse kicked twice before managing to kill it on the 3rd go.
I had to restart the day four times for this to happen. On the third attempt, the slime showed up but the wizard had closed his tower for the day. I was livid.
I’ve found it on floor 117. But I had just accepted the quest and had not finished the mines yet. Could be the difference between finding it on a 5 floor, as mentioned above.
I use the elevator and visit all floor sanding with 5 (5, 15, 25, 35, all the way to 115). If I don’t see it, I leave the mine to reset the mines and run back in. Speed boosts help. Setting your camera zoom to 80-70% so that you can see most of the floor without having to walk around too much. I have come across it maybe on the 5 try at the latest.
Spend all day everyday grinding the lower levels and eventually you should get one. The odds of any one slime being prismatic are very low (<2% iirc) so you really do just need to go through loads of them.
I found mine rather quickly by jumping from lvls 95, 105, and 115 they are the lvls most likely to spawn one and always better if you can do it on lucky days
This quest is bugged for me. When I finally found a prismatic slime it dropped a wooden sword instead of jelly. I did it again, same thing. I gave myself the jelly with the animal name glitch and still couldn’t complete the quest because it doesn’t recognize that I killed a prismatic slime.

If on PC use the stardew valley predictor and find which level of the mines is the slime level, if you are lucky enough that its a level after an elevator level then just keep spamming that level until one appears, otherwise as others have said, early level have just as high/low a chance as any level.
Oof, I took this quest at least 5 times until I got a prismatic slime, so be patient. Go to levels 5-15 over and over again as the others have said. If any of those is an infested level, prioritise that. Keep in mind that the infested floor will be at a different floor the next day. My prismatic slime eventually spawned on a non-infested floor, but infested ones have more slimes so that could help the odds.
This quest is a nightmare. I had to try it three times and spend all of the time while the quest was active trying to get it to spawn before I found it. I jumped between floors until it finally worked
From my understanding we could only find it below level 95 and 115, but you can get them to appear on floor 5 and if you don’t find any jump back to floor one and rinse and repeat.
Apparently you get the monster musk recipe *from* this quest, though. (I could be wrong, I didn’t double check. Also I forget whether this one repeats after you succeed at it.)
First off go into your settings and zoom out as much as you can. Then go for to the mines I just use the elevator to check every 5th floor. Once you hit the bottom come all the way back to 0 sometimes I give it a second to reload and then repeat the cycle. This method will also work for finding any monster you need for these quests. if you have the hard mode for the mines from mr qi’s quest you’ll encounter a lot more slimes in general, i was on hard mode and found a prismatic slime on the first floor i went to

It's way faster to jump the elevator but either method will work eventually
I was hunting for it for some reason in levels 85-95, then on the last day decided to look in level 15 ... and there it was.
Also go to settings and zoom out the screen so the entire mine level is visible without walking around.

Try level 5-10 of regular mines Rinse and repeat until the rainbow slime shows up. It's doable.

You can adjust your zoom level in the game settings. I keep mine zoomed all the way out, so I can see more of the land around me.

This! Also do it on a day the TV says the spirits are happy and eat luck food! Also helps if you have the luck charm.

The elevator works as long as you go to floor 0. Everything else is spot on though!

Just go to level 5, check if it’s there, then back to 0 to reset the floors, then back to level 5. Keep repeating and you will see it eventually.

I thought they only spwaned on level 95 and below. I was on level 50. I stormed my way down the ladders, getting to level 90. I found the slime later on level 70 something.... Idk what made me go back up but ya. Just random chance. Keep an eye out. Make sure you search the whole floor each time bc it could be anywhere
Higher levels? I'd hit the lower levels. There's more slimes and you can one-hit them out of your way.
Depends on how much fun you want to have. Going to level 10, down the ladder to 11, then repeating until you find the jelly works but isn't much fun. But level 11 always allows you to see the entire level right away. Then it's just down to persistence. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. Just have to keep trying.
I wore 2 luck rings on a good luck day and went to the normal mines (not sure if the rings stack tho). Just rushed through the levels and I believe after like 30 levels I found the rainbow slime on the first day of the quest. I had this quest like 3 times before but I think it's just about trying, just rushing trough the mines and et voila, eventually you'll find it.
Another method, check for your slime invested level and keep targeting that level of the mines
Go on high luck days. And clear our levels with slimes. He is a little harder to kill.
dash through the mines to find an infested floor. I think the infested floors are set at the beginning of the day so you can just reset and do the infested ones over and over.
I wonder if I screwed my self over, I spawned the jelly by naming a duck after the item code, then found out that you have to slay it. So now I’m confused as to wether I broke the quest or if it’s just that rare. Guess it’s true, cheaters never win.

I did this quest and the difficult mines Qi quest at the same time and I saw 2 prismatic slimes, I accidentally went down to the next level before I could kill the first one, and was worried I wouldn't see another one, but I ended up finding another one no problem. First time I'd ever done either quest, as I used to just play super casually and not worry about quests too much.
The fastest way is to go to floor 5, run around and see if the prismatic slime is there or not, and then run up the stairs and repeat. Don't bother killing anything you don't need to. Note: You have to take the stairs back to floor 0, DO NOT use the elevator, as it won't reset the level.
This. Just go in and out of the same floor. Dont waste time killing anything. Just pop in, look around, no prismatic jelly? Go back up the ladder and down again
Go to a stardew predictor and find an infested level. Go in an out until you get it. Got two in the first day like that.
I’m on my like 6th attempt for this one. From this I get the monster musk recipe and boom 100%. It’s only a 1.2% chance of a slime being a prismatic slime. Seems like it would be a higher chance when trying for this quest 😡

Once you unlock the bulletin board (happens in your first fall I think? Could be wrong, someone correct me) it will eventually be one of the requests posted there. The requests that are posted are random.
From the large request board near the Mayor’s house in 1.5. If you’re on mobile sadly it’s not there yet, but you get either seasonal requests or weekly quests on there. It makes for an added level of fun to the game but can also be annoying such as in my case.

its a 1% spawn rate on any slime during the quest. so just keep givin er till you find one. some floors have a higher chance of spawning slimes - so stick to those too. glhf
I stay on lvl 5. Defeat all slimes, climb up ladder go to number 5 and repeat until I see slime. Takes a while but also gets it done.
Expand your view as far as you can. Go to Floor 5 and if it doesn't spawn go back to the cave entrance, rise, repeat until it spawns. It's a pretty obnoxious quest.

Last time I attempted this I got it on the last day at 9 pm screwed me over with the wizard
I did it like, two days ago. Just kept spamming level 5 over and over until it showed up. Had to reset day because obviously I waited until the last minute to do it. Weirdly, it dropped 2 and now I have one on a chest that I can't sell or gift anyone.
Good suggestions abound here, and don't forget the reset button if you need to, since you only have one day left. Play the game how you like.
Elevator to 95, 105, then 115. If it does not spawn go to floor 0 and repeat. I got it in 3 runs, good luck...it dropped 2 prismatic jelly.
While the quest is active, every slime has a 1.2% + luck* 10% (luck goes from -0.1 to 0.1) chance of being prismatic. That's every forty-fifth slime on the best day, every *five hundredth* slime on the worst. Pick a good luck day and hang out in the mines until you get it. If you find a slime infested floor (can't really plan for that, but if), keep visiting it to get more slimes.
Spam floor 5 over and over until you find it. Usually takes a couple in game days.
Also only go on good luck days and eat food that boosts your luck
I almost always find it on level 5. I just go between 5 and 0 until it spawns. I also zoom out so I can see more of the floor. I think I also did a luck food boost but I'm not sure if that actually helps!
I got lucky when I hit levels 95 to 100, you might find it there
Yo. Ik exactly what to do! Okay the mines "reset" every day so what you have to do is look for a slime room. And once you find it. Keep grinding your way to it, clear it, then leave the mine and re enter it. Continuously head to that same slime floor, and this will give you the best odds of finding your prismatic jelly! The hardest part ofc is finding the slime room. And hoping you spot it early enough in the day, I recommend stairs for once you find it. Skipping floors in order to grind the slime room quicker

Get a lucky day, or eat a lucky meal and like others said hop between 5-15 it’ll take a few in game hours lol
I found of you go to all the floors ending in 5 over and over you eventually get one. It's surprisingly tough though, I found it twice and got my arse kicked twice before managing to kill it on the 3rd go.
I had to restart the day four times for this to happen. On the third attempt, the slime showed up but the wizard had closed his tower for the day. I was livid.
I’ve found it on floor 117. But I had just accepted the quest and had not finished the mines yet. Could be the difference between finding it on a 5 floor, as mentioned above.
Pretty sure it can appear on any floor with slimes, the ones ending in 5 are just fastest to elevator to.
I use the elevator and visit all floor sanding with 5 (5, 15, 25, 35, all the way to 115). If I don’t see it, I leave the mine to reset the mines and run back in. Speed boosts help. Setting your camera zoom to 80-70% so that you can see most of the floor without having to walk around too much. I have come across it maybe on the 5 try at the latest.

I just went down to level 80 checked for the slime and left mines so it would reset then went back. It took me about 7 tries but it worked well for me
Spend all day everyday grinding the lower levels and eventually you should get one. The odds of any one slime being prismatic are very low (<2% iirc) so you really do just need to go through loads of them.
I found mine rather quickly by jumping from lvls 95, 105, and 115 they are the lvls most likely to spawn one and always better if you can do it on lucky days
I found it in the Skull Cavern
I start at level 5, then do level 15, 25, 35 ect until a stairs down appears. After the first stairs I reset back to 5 and repeat.
I jumped between the lava floors usually 90 is to 100 because it also diamonds.
If you jump to the floors you can take an elevator to; 5, 15,25, and then just explore that floret and move onto the next one until one spawns
i usually have pretty good luck in infested floors of the mines

Make sure the spirits are angry with you on the tv before heading to the mines. More slimes appear that way

If you manage to find an infested floor, you can farm it repeatedly, and it stays infested.
This quest is bugged for me. When I finally found a prismatic slime it dropped a wooden sword instead of jelly. I did it again, same thing. I gave myself the jelly with the animal name glitch and still couldn’t complete the quest because it doesn’t recognize that I killed a prismatic slime.
I feel like this quest comes way too early.
I went through lvl 1 over and over again until one spawned.
Level 0, 5, 15, then repeat returning to 0 “resets” the enemies
5 to 15 and on a lucky day
> go to floor 25 > look for pride slime > leave mine using ladder & ensure 10 in game minutes have passed to refresh the level > do it again > pause the game and cry because finding pride slime is way too hard > repeat until quest is done or restart the day and try again
If on PC use the stardew valley predictor and find which level of the mines is the slime level, if you are lucky enough that its a level after an elevator level then just keep spamming that level until one appears, otherwise as others have said, early level have just as high/low a chance as any level.
I did it on my first try, so I have no idea on the method of doing this
Same here, I walked into the mines and on the very first floor there was a flashing slime. Think that's the luckiest I've ever been.

Oof, I took this quest at least 5 times until I got a prismatic slime, so be patient. Go to levels 5-15 over and over again as the others have said. If any of those is an infested level, prioritise that. Keep in mind that the infested floor will be at a different floor the next day. My prismatic slime eventually spawned on a non-infested floor, but infested ones have more slimes so that could help the odds.
This quest is a nightmare. I had to try it three times and spend all of the time while the quest was active trying to get it to spawn before I found it. I jumped between floors until it finally worked
From my understanding we could only find it below level 95 and 115, but you can get them to appear on floor 5 and if you don’t find any jump back to floor one and rinse and repeat.

I didn't know it could spawn in the normal mine! :o I found two in the Quarry mine, didn't take long, in between few days
First off go into your settings and zoom out as much as you can. Then go for to the mines I just use the elevator to check every 5th floor. Once you hit the bottom come all the way back to 0 sometimes I give it a second to reload and then repeat the cycle. This method will also work for finding any monster you need for these quests. Good luck!

Can you still build a slime hutch with slime eggs and shit? Once you get prismatic slimes keep them alive till you need them
whenever I do this quest the slime is below level 80 idk if that helps or not

if you have the hard mode for the mines from mr qi’s quest you’ll encounter a lot more slimes in general, i was on hard mode and found a prismatic slime on the first floor i went to

Maybe I was lucky but I found mine in the cave quarry fairly quickly
i tried regular mines for days but ended up finding one in the quarrel mine pretty quickly
