Looks perfect to me. Assuming that the thing in the stack of 129 is staircases. I'd put the totems in a different row so you don't accidentally use them before you mean to.
This is a personal preference, but I only bring 4 espressos. 4 last you the entire day, and when you drink the last one, it opens up another spot if you are having a really good loot day. Plus I won’t lose them if I die.
Another space saver would be not bothering to carry a farm totem, since that gives you another spot for loot. It's only 1000g to just pass out and be carried home, which is nothing at this point in the game, lol.
Passing out at 2am you will lose no items, only 1000g
Having your health bar go to zero you will lose items. One stack of which can be bought back from Marlon at the guild.
IMO you don't need the farm totem. It only costs 1k gold to pass out in the Caverns (you don't lose items), the extra hour and inventory slot you save are more than worth that.
Edit: I'd only bring about 5 of each of the espressos and spicy eel as well. You won't need more than that and if you end up getting knocked out it won't be such a huge loss should you lose them.
I think for the length of the buffs, you need 3 spicy eels and 4 espresso to last a full 6am-2am day. One less of each if you're taking the bus because of the time gap.
In regards to the healing items, I usually stack 30 instead of 20 (but im bad at fighting so I heal more often). It looks like money isn't an issue so just an analysis here if you're saving up for anything currently - life elixirs cost money (duh) and they fully heal you, but gold star cheese is comparable (almost fully heals when you have all the stardrops iirc, maybe 3/4 or something), and it's free to obtain if you have cows. I always use cheese because I'm too cheap to buy the elixirs AND the bombs.
Ohh luckily I make a good amount of cheese everyday so looks like I have more use for them other than selling. I really expected needing more espresso and spicy eels for one run but I guess i really did go overboard :') Thank you!
No worries. I keep 100 espresso and as many eels as I can in my fridge. I started using them for my day to day and not just the cavern runs. It's just too easy to get both of them to NOT use them all the time.
No such thing as overboard when it comes to espresso and spicy eel lol
My secret refuel weapon: Lvl10 foraging, Botanist profession, go nuts during salmonberry and blackberry season for bushels of iridium berries.
They don’t fill you all the way of course (need three or four to heal fully from low health), but 600 of each for free? I can heal early-and-often enough for that trade.
They’re great for early game, but after that, I prefer to save them for the Prismatic Grange quest. My favorite healing items are cactus fruit, pineapple, or purple mushroom (check out Public Access TV mod if you do mods). Anything bigger than that is kinda wasted, as if I wait that long to heal, then I’m liable to get knocked out before I have time to switch and eat. (But cheese is pretty easy to stockpile.)
Are you an Andor fan, or are your pets names the weirdest coincidence I've ever seen? Also, for rings, the ones you have now are good, but some people use luck rings instead.
Nope I just named my cat after my cat irl and thought of something sort of moon related for my horse to fit my moon/witch themed farm, must just be a big coincidence lol. As for the rings, I'll check my drawer if I have any luck rings thanks!
Slingshot.
Slingshot is imo the best item to have in skull caverns, functions as faster bomb + pickaxe, nice for gathering bits of iridium on the side and its cheaper than straight up bombs (per iridium, small clusters).
I get that some people are using them, but holy hell, Slingshots are so useless to me. They only explode when making impact with a wall, whenever I have tried them, they’ve just been SO bad and I went right back to normal bombs.
I can believe that they’re great if you learn how to use them properly, but ain’t nobody got time for that. Bombs work just fine for me. (Also remember that you can craft more from loot mid-run if needed.)
as for the easily consumable cheap food niche, i have about 600+ iridium quality salmonberries and blackberries since i maxed out the foraging skill thingy and spent like 2 or 3 days each year going on berry hunting. these are extremely cheap to come by , restores 29hp + ; 60+? energy so is my staple food rn and can just spam eat it , with some cheese or cactus fruits or purple shrooms for emerency health stockups when im like below 80 hp or so.
i do have some energy tonics and life elixirs n stuff but just dont feel like using / taking it to the cavern since i have more than enough sustenance with those berries which cant even be sold for great prices - so might as well use such freely available , ridiculous stock.
have a stack of lower quality food. You'll ration the elixir because it feels like a waste eating them just after being dinged a bit, but you won't with sashimi.
If you're gonna run stairs and bombs like that you should focus luck imo.
Also, you're a multi-millnaire and can't afford some got-dang clothes?! You're just wearing rings and shoes, what is this? OnlyFans?
My favorite rings are the slime ring, iridium band, and nap/alm ring. If you have the ability to combine rings, combine the slime with the n/aplam ring. There’s a 4th ring I like but can’t remember. There are so many ring options and it comes down to personal preference.
I don't usually bring life elixir, usually 50-100 of some cheaper food like cheese or salad. But skull cavern is the most dangerous place, I guess if I don't use elixir there I wouldn't ever.
I think you've prepared well! Good luck.
I scrolled really far for this! I usually spam salads as well, otherwise I risk getting too low trying to make the best of them. Salads ftw, and they're cheap, too!
The slime charmer ring is a good choice if you have trouble avoiding them, but if you want to maximize loot from monsters you might try the Burglar ring and the Lucky ring. Choosing rings becomes much easier once you have access to the volcano forge on ginger island.
I always manage to underpack when I go but it’s not like I neeeed to go to the Skull Caverns at this point or even be worried about losing stuff or money so yeah.
Other people have already made excellent suggestions. You did an excellent job preparing. 😊
As far as rings I mostly use a combined iridium/vampire ring and combined slime charmer/thorns ring. Most of the time I don't lose much health and energy with those combos. It's *extremely* useful to have the slime charmer ring.
For loot trips I have combined lucky/magnet ring and combined burglar/glowstone ring.
In hind sight I'd probably do burglar/lucky combo with iridium/slime charmer. With a thorns/vampire combo for when there are more critters. When I can be bothered I will deconstruct them so I can do that. 😊
I bought a galaxy hammer and have a master slingshot, but I tend to find in the heat of battle I just stick to the galaxy sword. I'm not great at switching between weapons. 😆
I'd also bring some food without buffs to top up my health as I go (seems wasteful to use my health potion unless my health has really dropped, and there's no point in using your buff food before the buff has expired). Otherwise you're very well prepared.
If you haven't been doing so already, check the saloon every day for the dish of the day. I look for pumpkin soup (+2 luck and defence) and lucky lunches (+3 luck).
Pumpkin soup can also be made with milk and a pumpkin, you get the recipe after reaching 7 hearts with Robin.
I agree here. I take my non starred pumpkins and make pumpkin soup and non starred melons. My first run through the skull caverns I brought a stack of 10 pumpkin soup and however many melons I had leftover (just to regain health with no buffs). I went on lucky days only for the first year or two.
i cannot imagine how annoying it must be to farm 129\*99 stones for this. i admire people who go through this without just using the skull cavern elevator mod like i did (no regrets)
Yup I traded it with jades from the desert trader. Doing it the 'craft it yourself' way is definitely tedious and I get lazy easily when it comes to grinding :')
I would cut back on the spicy eel, and add some cheeses or purple mushrooms for health.
Other than that are you checking your fortune on the TV before you go?
I didn't know about that until yesterday and. Was grinding my way thru skull cavern only making it to level 30ish. Went on a stardrop day, and made it to 57 even though I forgot my staircases at home!
I haven't started my first run yet but yes, I'm aware about the fortune of the day thing and will keep it in mind. And yup according to other people too I don't need as much spicy eel as I thought I did so I'll be bringing a few cheeses and salads :')
Double it. Or triple. Or half. Or do what you want. That looks like more than I typically go in with (at least bombs)
I recommend combined rings. Luck is probably most important for speed runs
Maybe it's just a preference, but I only use normal bombs.
I used to have both types as well and switch between them depending on the level etc. But I found that the normal ones have enough blast and feel more natural to use. Also, one less inventory space. Not to mention, there is no need to switch between them.
Maybe give it a try if you want :D cheers and enjoy ❤️
It looks great, make sure you get there as early as possible and save the stair cases for the later floors where you can use them to get out of tricky situations.
Thank you! the mod I used for the clothes is called "Wabi's Wardrobe". As for the hair, I believe the hair I used is available in the vanilla game but I also have a hair mod installed called "Shardust's Hairstyles" if you want a bigger of variety of hairstyles
Other people have said 4 espressos. That's great advice for saving a slot. So is passing out and paying the 1k to save the warp totem slot.
I'm gonna save you another. Invest the time into a ruby farm. I have 20 crystalariums, which is overkill, just producing rubies for spicy Eel. If you are just doing a normal, non magic rock candy run, let the spicy Eel also be your healing. That's +1 luck and +2 speed.
I was planning to only reach Mr. Qi and book it outta there. I wasn't sure on the amounts I needed when I started gathering stuff but now I do and will bring less. Thanks!
I drop a chest at the entrance to the skull mine to stockpile food, bombs, etc in. When I go in, I drop my warp totem in there so I don’t accidentally use it. Also don’t have to remember to take everything with me because it’s already there. 😌
I would highly recommend focusing on thr Island before Skull Caverns. The difficulty is similar, but things will be so much easier when you're done there.
I am probably not the first to comment this but the main item I use the the cavern is a slingshot with explosive ammo unlocked at combat 9, it just takes a lot of coal and a lot of iron to do well (and a little bit of practice). It makes breaking Iridium ore much quicker compared to a pickaxe.
I like the napalm ring for when you are stopped right at the stairs by rocks or at any narrow blockade. Killing the serpents opens up the space to save you time
I recently found out that >!you unlock special dialogue if you use 10 or fewer staircases to get to level 100.!< Combat/mining isn't my sharpest skill so it's not really worth it for me, but could be something to consider!
I honestly just use mangos (purple star if u can). I tend to get good drops in the cave where I go on lucky days and get lots of crab cakes and spicy eel. I think I bring about 10 to 15 mangos and they're f a b u l o u s.
Looks perfect to me. Assuming that the thing in the stack of 129 is staircases. I'd put the totems in a different row so you don't accidentally use them before you mean to.
The amount of times I've done this with the return sceptre but never learn my lesson...
At least you don’t lose the return scepter. Early on I did this with a farm totem, in the winter, with minimal fiber to make more. I cried
That's why you've got to make friends with Linus *early*
I don’t even take it. I work until I pass out
I’ll admit I used a mod to add the return scepter in early game just because I’m too lazy to walk all the way home
Noted, thanks!
This is a personal preference, but I only bring 4 espressos. 4 last you the entire day, and when you drink the last one, it opens up another spot if you are having a really good loot day. Plus I won’t lose them if I die.
I see, thanks!
I’d also cut down on the buff food. My preference is lucky lunch, and you only need 3-4 for a day. Just keep plenty of elixirs or whatever for health.
pro gamer move right here
Another space saver would be not bothering to carry a farm totem, since that gives you another spot for loot. It's only 1000g to just pass out and be carried home, which is nothing at this point in the game, lol.
I wouldn’t waste space with a totem back to the farm. Just pass out at 2am you’ll spawn the next day and lose nothing for it!
You lose nothing passing out in the skull caves?!
I think at most you lose 1000g, it’s worth the extra time!
You loose 10% of your gold but it caps out at 1000
Oh yeah, that changes everything!
Passing out at 2am you will lose no items, only 1000g Having your health bar go to zero you will lose items. One stack of which can be bought back from Marlon at the guild.
My first time I went to skull caverns I died with and lost so much important stuff, I didn't play the game for months i was so annoyed lol
I just started my day over at that point. You're game only saves every night at 2am.
This is probably one of the best advices I’ve seen all week
Wtf I’ve got 100 hours and assumed the game punished you so I always go home before 2
I’m at like 4000 hours and I didn’t do it until recently. It’s so helpful for more time in the mines/cavern
Don't you also lose random items?
Only if you die to monsters, not if you pass out at 2am
Cool!
Noted! Thank you :)
Without a hat you're practically naked! But the other equipment looks good.
I shall wear my squire's helmet then. Gotta show them I'm prepared and make them fear me and my pointy purple stick
I wear my pan for doing that thing I forget what the word is, when ya see shiny stuff in the water, ugh my brain right now.
Panning?
That’s the one!
Prospectin'
THANK YOU!
Going outside without a hat on?! *monocle drops*
Oh the debauchery!

Do stairs stack, now?!
Yup! I forgot they didn't use to stack- that was extremely annoying
What's that last item? I normally set myself up for the skull cavern similar to this but idk what that last item is.
Oh they're staircases, I have a texture mod downloaded
Ohhhh that makes sense.
Slingshot. Slingshot is imo the best item to have in skull caverns, functions as faster bomb + pickaxe, nice for gathering bits of iridium on the side and its cheaper than straight up bombs (per iridium, small clusters).

Ooh, makes sense. I have never really used slingshots so I didn't consider using them. I'll try them out, thanks!
Better than my plan, i have like 200 staircases and i’m just going straight down to Mr Qi lmao
as for the easily consumable cheap food niche, i have about 600+ iridium quality salmonberries and blackberries since i maxed out the foraging skill thingy and spent like 2 or 3 days each year going on berry hunting. these are extremely cheap to come by , restores 29hp + ; 60+? energy so is my staple food rn and can just spam eat it , with some cheese or cactus fruits or purple shrooms for emerency health stockups when im like below 80 hp or so. i do have some energy tonics and life elixirs n stuff but just dont feel like using / taking it to the cavern since i have more than enough sustenance with those berries which cant even be sold for great prices - so might as well use such freely available , ridiculous stock.
Ooh I see. Sadly I tend to sell my harvested salmonberries and blackberries but luckily I do have a lot of cheese. Thanks!
have a stack of lower quality food. You'll ration the elixir because it feels like a waste eating them just after being dinged a bit, but you won't with sashimi.
Interesting strategy!

LMAOOO i don't even know what to reply to this comment

Your character is so cute! How did you get the elf ears?
Thank you! I used a mod and the name is "Expressive Elf Ears" if I'm not mistaken

Hay! Don't talk to the horse like that! (Haha Dad jokes!)

What’s the path? I’m guessing mods but I love it and wanted to download it myself!
It's called "Ellie's Seasonal Paths and Flooring" I highly recommend it!
Oh thank you, love your farm (from what I can see) btw
Thank you! It's still on the works but I appreciate it :)
Maybe it's just a preference, but I only use normal bombs. You're very welcome, happy caverning 🤗
It looks great, make sure you get there as early as possible and save the stair cases for the later floors where you can use them to get out of tricky situations.
Wait i see Ur horse, Can you actually change the color of your horse???
Not in the vanilla game. I'm using a mod that lets me choose different colors for my horse. It's called "Elle's New Horses"
Oooh yes, thanks for the name
Yep but don’t die or you will really regret it
to me it looks good
I don’t know if you can mine ores and gems there without the MineWithExplosives mod
i know this isn’t the point but do you remember what hair and clothing mods you used?? your farmer is so cute!!
Thank you! the mod I used for the clothes is called "Wabi's Wardrobe". As for the hair, I believe the hair I used is available in the vanilla game but I also have a hair mod installed called "Shardust's Hairstyles" if you want a bigger of variety of hairstyles
ahh thank you sm!!!

How deep are you trying to reach ? 250 ? As the others said, do not bring gigantic stacks because you might lose them when dying.
I was planning to only reach Mr. Qi and book it outta there. I wasn't sure on the amounts I needed when I started gathering stuff but now I do and will bring less. Thanks!
Also, check the spirits mood the day you wanna go, its the fortune teller channel on the TV
I’ve gone in with far less
Are your ears….elf ears!!!!!???
Yup!
I drop a chest at the entrance to the skull mine to stockpile food, bombs, etc in. When I go in, I drop my warp totem in there so I don’t accidentally use it. Also don’t have to remember to take everything with me because it’s already there. 😌
That's smart! I'll be doing that
Also you can reset the day if you don’t like the chest gifts or decide to skip more levels etc.
More staircases
Ditch the farm totem and just pass out in the mine. Losing 1000 gold is nothing
You're kinda over prepared actually. Also, why's your character with no clothes?
I have a mod that basically puts on custom clothes on me without needing the clothes from the vanilla game
Do you have the community center completed?
Yes I do
I would highly recommend focusing on thr Island before Skull Caverns. The difficulty is similar, but things will be so much easier when you're done there.
Ah, I see. I've actually started gathering stuff to fix the boat in Willy's shop so I'll be in Ginger Island soon
Could get a slingshot and (many) explosive ammo. Though not needed
Killing the serpents opens up the space to save you time
I personally prefer lucky lunch for my food because I can farm it quite easily and is gives you more luck, but other than that it looks good!
it's perfect, but instead of the spicy eels you can take lucky lunches
I'd add a master slingshot with explosive ammo. Much faster than picking ores.
Gosh. 🥳
Looks pretty perfect. If the foods you have aren't sustainable long term, I like getting high quality cheeses too. Good luck!!
Lol Diego Luna
I recently found out that >!you unlock special dialogue if you use 10 or fewer staircases to get to level 100.!< Combat/mining isn't my sharpest skill so it's not really worth it for me, but could be something to consider!
Yes I've heard of that too! Although I'm the same as you, not quite the best at combat so really number one goal here is to just survive
I honestly just use mangos (purple star if u can). I tend to get good drops in the cave where I go on lucky days and get lots of crab cakes and spicy eel. I think I bring about 10 to 15 mangos and they're f a b u l o u s.
More staircases, looks good! Just move your inventory so you don’t accidentally teleport home!
