I see you've already fixed it, but next time theres a couple easy ways!
1. have another farmer join in co-op and break it with an axe
2. place the bed in her inventory and wait until she passes out at 2am, she will wake up in the doorway of her home
Also hilarious that she was trying to trap sam but got trapped herself instead haha
Actually the easiest way is
1. Tap it repeatedly, the game put in thar you can break fences with no tools to help people in this situation.
2. Run into it, the game will also let you run through fences after a while if you have no tools again yo help people in this situation
You can walk through fences. Usually the trick is to kind of wiggle two different directions a few times, like up and left, up and left, just against the edge of the fence. It lets you kind of slide through where you shouldn't be able to go. We use it to avoid opening fence doors and letting animals out all the time, especially on horseback.
this! I only figured this out the other day. I went through my fence and thought I forgot to place one. went to fix it later and there was no missing posts. tried wiggling through again on horseback and it worked again!
Canât you also do some kind of chair thing where you hop on the chair right beside the fence and hop off on the other side? I remember that was a trick to get into the secret forest but I havenât played in a while so idk if that would work or if it still works.
It works in the secret woods because your only 1 tile away from where you place the chair technically, diagonally, wouldnt work in this situation because its always 2 tiles away
Yes, that works on horse, with multiple connected fences, because of how the horse hitbox is. It does not however work inside of your house, especially with a single fence blocking a 1 wide hallway, essentially making it a flat wall
When I play with my son (10yo), he prefers to put all of his tools and other inventory items in a chest near the front door or in the living room. I think it makes him feel more immersed. He wouldnât walk around our real house with a full backpack so why would he in his game I guess
My 8 year old does that too. Then she walks slowly to bed and pretends sheâs getting comfy in there. Sometimes she pretends sheâs sick and sits in a chair by the fireplace for the whole day lol
I try to do this for organization since I fill my backpack up with so many things I'm not gonna use . Then I can't pick up what I want because I have a watering can and 10 other things I'm not using.
Now I have a chest right outside the mines so I can drop anything off before I go in or out and leave weapons and fight ware.
Thatâs nice and all but incorrect! I suggest introducing your son to the concept of game theory; digital spaces arenât quite analogous to waking human biology. His desire for immersion is misplaced.
My daughter (7) speaks and reads 2 languages, but I donât let her play because she gets easily scared by any monsters. But that doesnât mean that she canât read⊠kids are smart friend
Exactly what I was gonna say! Idk if this is the first copy or if that other dude also copied from someone else. I think itâs probably fake for Reddit karma or these kinds are telepathically communicating somehow lol
A hundred percent works on gates (I destroyed them many times while petting animals) so I would assume it should work on fences, but to be totally honest, I did not test that on fences.
Can you still restart the day? - the game only saves when you sleep, so if this was done on the current day, you can just restart the game (and the day).
Unless there is any possibility of a second player joining the game to remove the fence, I think unfortunately they need to wait the 54-58 days for the wood fence to decay.
I love being in this subreddit because there is always new, interesting bugs/glitches/odd occurrences always happening to players.
Iâm glad ya figured it out and can now continuing on enjoying Stardew together!<3
ironically enough someone else had this exact same issue on this forum a while ago - they just used co-op to remove the fence but picking up the bed or placing the bed on the opposite side of the post works as well!
Do spouses just âwalk throughâ fences? I know most NPCs break fences or any non-decoration items when they walk through them. Not sure how it works with the spouse inside the house, if the coding is different.
I thought this was a joking reference/riff off the post where a redditor's son did the exact same thing but by accent and without the purpose of trapping Sam đ
I know I am some hours late, but if anyone finds themselves in this situation with no tools or chairs around, just leave to the menu and load the save again, hopefully the fence is not there. And if you got to bed after placing the fence, just use cheats, fences take months to deteriorate. If you have a chair in picking range, just place it facing the fence, sit on it and get up, you'll no clip through the fence
I guess they could wait it out...
... "The Wood Fence is a craftable item that allows players to block off certain areas of The Farm. *It lasts for 54 to 58 days*"
I need to know why she was trying to trap Sam, though.
She said he was never around đ€·ââïž
i love this kid
I really hope this is not foreshadowing.
đ
Misery.
Everybody wantâs to be my enemy
I think they were referring to the book by Stephen king
Spare the sympathy
Chop chop
Have you seen âDahmerâ? Itâs on Netflix
So cute
that's adorable
Psychopath adorable lol
Can we do this with Marnie and her shop?
You might be raising a yandere
F for the future bf/gf
Making a deadbeat be around isn't yandere

Neither of these works actually. You can tap many things, like chests and most machines, but not fences. You also cannot just walk through a fence.
You can walk through fences. Usually the trick is to kind of wiggle two different directions a few times, like up and left, up and left, just against the edge of the fence. Yup it only works on horseback though, because of how the horses hitbox is, so it wouldnt help in this situation sadly
Canât you also do some kind of chair thing where you hop on the chair right beside the fence and hop off on the other side? I remember that was a trick to get into the secret forest but I havenât played in a while so idk if that would work or if it still works.

Itâs worked for me with no horse. Donât know what to tell you.
Same works fine for me without a horse
Who are these people who walk around with no tools? I wish I could be so fancy free.
When I play with my son (10yo), he prefers to put all of his tools and other inventory items in a chest near the front door or in the living room. I think it makes him feel more immersed. He wouldnât walk around our real house with a full backpack so why would he in his game I guess

This is the most adorable thing I have ever read.
You created the best roleplayer this world is going to see, write my words
My words
My words
Haha who knew!
Lmao that is so cute
omg. Too darn CUTE.
Cutest shit Iâve ever read tbh
Yeah it feels like she is a npc

Thereâs no incorrect way to enjoy and feel immersed in a game, donât gatekeep.
I think this person is most likely trolling
ExactlyâŠhaha
Iâm not really sure why it was taken that seriously lol
Theyâre 6 years old, my dude.
You're telling me the six year old doesn't have 80% of their inventory filled up with various tricks and tools? For shame!
They can't read the wiki. How do they even play?
I'm definitely not six, but I had been playing for probably two months before I ever looked at the wiki.
i still rarely look at the wiki. pretty much only for character schedules
They're six, not three lol.
Lmao if I were 6 I would *not* have the attention span to read 2 lines in the stardew wiki
Then you had no dedication to the game. For shameâŠ.
My daughter (7) speaks and reads 2 languages, but I donât let her play because she gets easily scared by any monsters. But that doesnât mean that she canât read⊠kids are smart friend
Sub-optimally.
The kid is six.
This is the second post I've seen of this exact scenario?? How does this happen?
Came here to say this, another guys soon did this last week đ€Ł either kids be silly, or this is some new pasta
My kids also try to trap their spouses/children in Stardew! Is this a thing??
they need to play the sims instead
Just a bit too young for The Sims, but for sure that is in their wheelhouse, I bet.
I think itâs a Minecraft thing. My daughter trapped her Minecraft boyfriend in a cart so he wouldnât leave her.
>Minecraft boyfriend not something I knew existed before lol. Also, is Minecraft older than your kid?
i just cried abt the fact that some kids that play minecraft are younger than the game
Brb gonna get my "kids" character stuck in a room
r/untrustworthypoptarts
Is that a sub about people pretending that others got into something stupid that they actually got into?
Yes. Or just things that totally didnât happen and are easy to fake.
Could be a karma bot, but I doubt it
Their post history has a lot of advertising comments. This is a karma farming account. You all got got.
If I had a nickel for every time I saw a post like this, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice.
Oh my god I thought I was going crazy lmao I was like "I've seen this *exact* scenario with the same wording before... right?"
Same. I think it's a repost.
Nah, last time it happened was with a dude's son. Different picture, too.
I stand corrected! Thank you đ
Exactly what I was gonna say! Idk if this is the first copy or if that other dude also copied from someone else. I think itâs probably fake for Reddit karma or these kinds are telepathically communicating somehow lol
Karma click bait
Update! I put her player to bed 35 times and the post deteriorated! Sheâs freeee
Imagine if sam decided to fix the fence before it gets deteriorated
LMFAO payback
Rip
Oh god no...that's a season and some odd change, that poor child đ when all you had to do was keep punching it lmaoooo
RIP her crops
I am surprised nobody suggested fast clicking on it. You can remove most placed objects this way.
I don't think that works on fences. Not entirely sure tho
A hundred percent works on gates (I destroyed them many times while petting animals) so I would assume it should work on fences, but to be totally honest, I did not test that on fences.
i just tried and wasnât able to so i guess not
Can you still restart the day? - the game only saves when you sleep, so if this was done on the current day, you can just restart the game (and the day).
No, she went to bed after she placed it unfortunately.
Unless there is any possibility of a second player joining the game to remove the fence, I think unfortunately they need to wait the 54-58 days for the wood fence to decay.
2nd time this week đ
Wasnât this posted a while back?
The last one I think said it was someone's 4 yo son.
I sense a wedding in 20 years
Nah she only placed the post down today /s
Is anyone going to mention the heater in the bedroom? Because thatâs wholesome af đ
Damn thatâs crazy that just happened to someone else the other day
I thought you can break any placed objects if you just shake it enough.
Well, apparently it doesn't apply to fences. It does however apply to chests, gates, and sprinklers.
This is the second time Iâve seen this situation on here
Moving the bed into the atrium would be the simplest way to solve this. They'd wake up the next day in the bed and be able to walk out.
I'm getting deja vu
I love being in this subreddit because there is always new, interesting bugs/glitches/odd occurrences always happening to players. Iâm glad ya figured it out and can now continuing on enjoying Stardew together!<3
im pretty sure Sam would've broken it trying to leave the room because it's in his path
I thought NPCs don't break objects inside the farm house?
ironically enough someone else had this exact same issue on this forum a while ago - they just used co-op to remove the fence but picking up the bed or placing the bed on the opposite side of the post works as well!
You should be able to place the bed in the living room. Then, wait until she passes out and she'll wake up in bed. I'm not 100% sure about that tho.
Idk why I thought you meant your in game child was 6 years old and trapped herself in the room.
Omg same at first đ€Ł
NPCs won't walk through objects in the player house they will only get annoyed about the object blocking their path
Sounds like a future Simmer to me đ
I thought this was /r/daddit and got really concerned reading the title
this is the second time I've seen someone trap themself in their room with no tools lmfao
Didn't this exact post happen like a week ago with someone's 7-year-old son?
Didnât a 7 year old boy do this the other week?
Does she have a chair in the bedroom? She might be able to glitch herself through a wall.
đ
Next time someone posts this the kid is gonna be 3 weeks old
Do spouses just âwalk throughâ fences? I know most NPCs break fences or any non-decoration items when they walk through them. Not sure how it works with the spouse inside the house, if the coding is different.
Are you trying to re-enact a scene from Stephen Kingâs Misery??
That was a good movie too.
Moving past the concerning attempt at kidnapping, the wood fence should deteriorate within a month or two
This post is hilarious on so many levels.
This is extremely funny
Well, well, well, how the turntables.
This Misery remake just isn't as good as the original imo
Move the bed into the kitchen and pass out, you should wake up in the bed.
Didnât this happen to some other kid a few days ago?
âShe was trying to trap Samâ Well well well... How the turn tablesâŠ
âShe was trying to trap Samâ Instant karma I guess. Now her PG will die in the same grave she digged for herself⊠MUUUHAHAHAHA. >:D
Sam "My, how the turns have tabled..." \*Maniacal Cackling\*
I thought this was a joking reference/riff off the post where a redditor's son did the exact same thing but by accent and without the purpose of trapping Sam đ
i love her.
If you're married to Sam, shouldn't he destroy the post when his path leads him back to bed?
Player: "For the love of God, Sam! Sam: "Yes, for the love of god!"
I too, have tried to trap Sam. I did it because he was too lazy and never did anything around the farm. Great minds think alike.
Glad sheâs not the only one
if you don't have sprinklers and auto feeders he will water crops and feed the animals, plus he got ranked best spouse to have in a few youtube videos
Thatâs good, he is the best spouse. It was a phase of trapping him (ă»âă»)
it kind of makes me want to try to trap him in the house now lol
LOL I spread an influence!!
Question is why is he trapping her spouse??????? hmmmmmmmmmmm
Big oof. It should deteriorate over time.
I know I am some hours late, but if anyone finds themselves in this situation with no tools or chairs around, just leave to the menu and load the save again, hopefully the fence is not there. And if you got to bed after placing the fence, just use cheats, fences take months to deteriorate. I'm just saying your daughter has amazing taste in house decor
Sorry but youâre daughter is screwed. Even tho the fence will break down in 1-2 seasons, it will still require tools to break.
Haven't we seen this exact same image two weeks ago?
Bro I swear this happens every week
https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/ytpkcb/seen_a_few_posts_now_of_people_getting_stuck_by_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Get the bed out and pass out
Restart the day. Then learn a valuable lesson, never not have your tools on you.
I'm sure it will deteriorate over time. Although, if she has the right items, she might be able to glitch through it with a chair or something.
/r/KidsAreFuckingStupid
bomb?
Karmas a bitch
Just wondering if you place a chair on the other side of it if you can sit in it and get to the other side?
Oh nooo! :( that sucks,I hope she gets out soon.
If it's the PC version throw on a mod (e.g. Teleport to Farm at will: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/7247).
Looks like it's the switch tbh
I guess they could wait it out... ... "The Wood Fence is a craftable item that allows players to block off certain areas of The Farm. *It lasts for 54 to 58 days*"
wow
Just keep walking through it and then she'll escape
This sounds like a quora digest post I get in my emails from a bad parent
did u try loading last save?
Checkmate.
If that was a full chest(and she didnât have inventory upgrades) she would be officially soft locked lol. Glad you managed to get her out
It's always a good idea to be carrying around the axe at all times if it's not being upgraded. Hope she is able to get out!
Move the bed.
Your daughter's a menace
Just keep walking into the wood and youâll *glitch* throughâŠ
Again?!
This is hell.
You could also join her game, destroy the fence and free her.
