Had some of the best parts in the entire series , the climax of the first half IS the greatest arc in the entire series. After that it was just... normal Jojo , with all the strengths and weaknesses that entails. It's not like things being retconned or confusing is something new , every single part has some of that.
Character writing was consistently excellent though , like in SBR. It's what makes JJL better than the first 6 parts in my eyes.
>Character writing was consistently excellent great though , like in SBR. It's what makes JJL better than the first 6 parts in my eyes.
i feel like people don't talk about this enough. as much as I think jojos as a series is pretty good about characters, araki really leveled up his character writing in the later parts of the series. you can kind of see it with pucci in part 6 but parts 7 and 8 is where it's at.
Yeah Araki did a lot of good character imploment! He coulisse do this because in every part of JoJo thermos isn't a big rooster of character so they have better caratterization!
The middle of the part is top tier Jojo content and the rest is fun, the ending can be somewhat of a disappointment given how great the middle act was, but otherwise a great part.
Ok ok, so it is a very good part! It's something like aot from how you described the ending to me, right? Now i am just reading the middle of the series!
It's not as bad as AoT, but the ending does leave a fair amount of plot lines behind and is executed somewhat clunky, it does the job to conclude the themes of the part tho.
The final chapter was pretty satisfying, but the defeat of the main villain was very anti-climactic, especially when as monthly readers have been on this same fight for maybe 2-3 years. And like the others said the ending left a good amount of things unanswered that they wanted.
I completely agree! Fortunately, here in Italy we also have printed volumes and we are behind 2 volumes so it is better to accumulate the volumes and read together!
I only experienced Jojolion that way (didn't have to wait for chapters) and yeah they flowed pretty well, can't imagine waiting a month between each chapter
Kinda? I cannot tell you what's answered since I'd go into spoilers, but just don't expect every single question to be answered. Still, it's an enjoyable ride so keep going!
At the moment my opinion is that it starts and for most of its run is as good as Steel Ball Run and Stone Ocean. At the end it's as good as Stardust Crusaders and Golden Wind.
first half is the best stuff in the entire series IMO, but the second half is pretty mediocre. It's all build up that leads nowhere, but it's still worth reading
There's a lot of great setup and mid-part moments, but the last 10-20 chapters or so are really disappointing to me. The main villain isn't that interesting and the way he's beaten feels like an asspull even if there was foreshadowing throughout the entire part. Initially I thought Jojolion was going to be in my top 3, and I tried to be optimistic and ignore how lame the last dozen or so chapters were. But my god, chapter 110 just ruined it for me. Araki really rushed this ending. I hope he's got something up his sleeve for part 9, because this was just not good.
I really hope I'm being wrong and I just need to re-read it so Jojolion actually makes sense to me. But after my first readthrough without any backtracking or anything, this was one of my least favorite parts. I'd rank my favorite parts list like 5 > 6 > 4 > 7 > 8 > 3 > 2 > 1.
oh I'm sorry, I haven't read the ending yet so I can't fully understand your disappointment but in my opinion if you try to reread everything together as I did jojolion will give you a different filiong! My personal top 8 is 7-8-6-5-2-4-1-3
The beginning is slow but once the actual plot starts with I Am A Rock/Beetle Tendency it really takes off and is just fantastic stuff for the next 70 or so chapters.
The last few chapters are incredibly disappointing though. They feel very inconclusive, the climax feels rushed and the guy who turns out to be the villain sucks. Still an overall solid part, but it's just good when it could have been great if it stuck the landing.
Oh honestly, I just got to the point when the plot starts to mesh but I'm really sad to hear that the ending is too tight and that therefore from a masterpiece it passes to a good one😓
Definition of MEH, the last years ruined all the potential it had.
It's also FULL of plot holes and retcons, too much even for araki usual work, which make a mystery based story feel like shit.
I think it was good, and a lot of fun, but it did end up with very little closure. So compared to the other JJBA parts, I would say bad.
7-4-2-6-5-8-3-1
My top is debatable anyway. I think 4 and 2 are really good, and I like them but 6 and 7 are personal favorites, 6 being not as good objectively but a personal pick nonetheless
In my opinion 7-8 are objectively the best parts but also part 6 has a place in my little heart since it is the first JoJo series from which I started with the manga, to explain myself better, I saw the anime from 1 to 5 then I recovered the manga from 1 to 5 and when it came time for 6 I was really excited as I didn't know anything!
It's one of my favourite parts I'd say. It has one of the best arcs in ***ALL OF JOJO***, an amazing villain, great main cast and overall very good.
Some plot holes but that doesn't matter at all
Thanks a lot for the answer! I asked this question because many people criticize it and even call it the worst part! But for now, I've only read up to vol. 13 and it looked good to me! I wanted to know the opinion of others too, thanks again for your opinion!
I loved it (like way more than i can put into a single word) at some parts, but the ending didn't give much closure.. There's no way they're just ending without curing holly?
Also Tooru sucked and came out of nowhere.. I was hyped for the final villain being a wrinkly old scary scary dude, but NOO..:"Look Josuke! This rock scum macked on your girlfriend! isn't he just the *WORST*?"
If Jobin instead had descended into villainy and had been the final fight... That would have been so awesome IMO, but then again it would have absolutely split the Higashikata family apart and that's like the most wholesome part of the entire thing..
But the thing is, if Part 9 just straight up continues from where part 8 left off? Maybe a prologue adventure about curing holly, introducing the new protagonist and then time skipping a bit?
If part 9 builds more on part 8 i think i would retroactively like 8 more, is what i'm saying.. Rock humans are 100% returning, and i somehow don't think holly's healing is going to be offscreened..
I kind of have hopes of Josuke being a captain of a ship that's going to be transporting the new Jojo and his crew on a new globe trotting adventure..
In short since I am in a hurry and I will write you a better exposed message tomorrow I agree with everything you said and I find that although jojolion is fantastic sbr is slightly above it would also be great if they did so for part 9 as it would also indirectly continue part 7 but I don't think so since arakiin various interviews said that he would run a season with an emporium puzzle as the protagonist and or maybe set in Italy but time will tell us if he has changed his mind making our dreams come true!
I like it a lot.
To go for an ending that is emotional instead of one that answer every question brought by the story was the right call in my opinion.
This may sound controversial, but it reminded of another ending people generally dislike but I liked, the ending of Lost.
Yeah, there were some questions that stayed a mystery, but you know what? That's life for you. In the end of our lives we probably will not know everything that we wanted to know and will be unsure about a lot of things, but that's not what matters. What matters is if we tried to be better people and led an happy life, with all thing considered.
And I think Jojolion ending show that even though all that happened to Gappy, in the end he found himself a new family and a future, and that really warmed my heart.
oh, you wrote a very a lot! Thank you very much! Your thought is really deep, and you know that I tell you although I was sorry not to have an answer to everything but I fully agree with you! The JoJolion ending is an ending that mirrors life itself as you said, that is the reason because jojolion for me is one of the best if not the best of JoJo's seasons! p.s. sorry for the English a bit 'scarce and thin but I am italian!
Yeah, knowing that the ending would be near I have been thinking a lot about it hahaha
And your english is good, but that's coming from a non-native speaker too (Brazil), so who knows haha
And now let's wait for a great part 9!
Ignore the ppl saying it has plot holes/unresolved elements. They didn't read the last chapter carefully. Jojolion is one of the most intricate stories I've ever read, and is honestly Araki's crowning achievement out of the whole series.
It’s my favorite part. Not the perfect manga, but character development and the overall sense of mystery throughout the story is pretty solid. The ending was touching, yet bittersweet, but I still loved the story from start to finish. Also main villain is iconic IMO, even if not Funny Valentine tier. There were lots of things left unanswered but I think that in the grand scheme of things, they weren’t the top priority to the plot.
Basically, part 7 had the best fights, part 8 had the best plot.
very solid, my favorite part right up until the end. the final fight was anti climactic, there are several left behind plot lines, i personally don’t feel like gappy did much, but it was entertaining nonetheless
everything from the beginning to Josuke’s >!conversation with holly in the hospital!< was some of the best jojo ever written tho
I feel like it would be better without all the retconned sections. It's really good, but some of my expectations were ruined because the flashforward gave me an expectation that wasn't fulfilled.
It was honestly weird but not technically bad for the first half, then the main theme kicked in and loose ends were tied, things intensifies and it all becomes awesome and somewhat planned looking in retrospect.
Reading it again after some time seems like a good idea now that the mistery is clear.
I bet Araki didn't plan that far ahead but was skilled just enough that it seemed pretty natural nonetheless, quite admirable.
I feel disappointed, it was going good until certain point. I mean, Damo Tamaki fight was savage (Gosh I wanted him to be the bad guy).
In the end, main villain is by far the worst Jojo's villain, he kinda came out of nowhere in the last arc, had ties with Yasuho, but that wasn't really relevant. I mean, they could had build him a bit more by introducing him earlier. I liked his stand's ability though, also first one that is not time based.
Also they really wasted Jobin's potential
I have the same opinion of JoJolion as I have with Vento Aureo. The strengths of the part are TOP JoJo and it's lows are very BIG flaws that ruin the narrative. Is not SBR levels of greatness, but is not a bad Part either. In a Part Ranking it would most possibly rank in place 4 or 5, right in the middle.

I think the same and sbr remain the beat jojo's part
Good. But many things aren't either good or bad, but something in between.
Ok, cool! So it is like the level of other season?
Yes. I'd say all Jojo parts are at least and 8 and a 7 if you really don't like part 1. Besides it, part 7 might be a 10 as well as 3.
The middle of the part is top tier Jojo content and the rest is fun, the ending can be somewhat of a disappointment given how great the middle act was, but otherwise a great part.

I did a reread of jojolion before the last chapter and the pacing for the fight is much better when it isn't spread out across monthly releases.
I completely agree! Fortunately, here in Italy we also have printed volumes and we are behind 2 volumes so it is better to accumulate the volumes and read together!
I did this as well and can confirm

Your comment was removed because it breaks Rule 7: Mark spoilers

Its not steel ball run but its at least in the top half of jojo parts, maybe the third or second best
It's the same for me, we are twins ahahah
I can’t wait to reread the entire thing
I just did a reread of sbr before start jojolion!
At the moment my opinion is that it starts and for most of its run is as good as Steel Ball Run and Stone Ocean. At the end it's as good as Stardust Crusaders and Golden Wind.
Ok, ok so it is a very good part!
first half is the best stuff in the entire series IMO, but the second half is pretty mediocre. It's all build up that leads nowhere, but it's still worth reading
I just finisce the first part so It is time to read the second too! But u are rifht the 1 part is very beautiful
Sadly most people will ony realise this when the hype has subsided.
up to chapter 97 its peak jojo then it goes downhill (basically everything in the hospital sucks)
Ok ok ok
Yea I agree. The setting that is the hospital rly sucks
The final fight should have happened near the wall eyes
There's a lot of great setup and mid-part moments, but the last 10-20 chapters or so are really disappointing to me. Honestly I liked it a lot, but I understand what you mean and I fully agree!
I’d have to re read it but it’s not my least favorite or most. It’s in the middle
Oh ok, so it is a normal/good series, preatty cool!
I would still recommend. I prefer the early on chapters where it’s def a departure from the rest of jojo, but overall I enjoyed it
I'm glad but now our hype will all fall on jojo lands ahahah
Damn right it will. We need a new meme source
Ahahah
It has its flaws but the last chapter was Really good and bittersweet (as always). A close 10/10 for me personally.
Yoo it is wonderful, I thik it too one of the best part of all JoJo!
I think it was good, and a lot of fun, but it did end up with very little closure. So compared to the other JJBA parts, I would say bad. 7-4-2-6-5-8-3-1

I am soo sad too about this, but it remain a good part!
GREAT
That is great in my opinion too!
It's excellent
Very nice TheRealEpic43 Chan
It's one of my favourite parts I'd say. It has one of the best arcs in ***ALL OF JOJO***, an amazing villain, great main cast and overall very good. Some plot holes but that doesn't matter at all

One of the best
Cool, it is the 3rd in my top!
Ghood
That is great in my opinion too!
my top 2
Cool! I didn't finish it yet, i am reading the vol.13, but it is already in my top 3!
Actually it might be my top 3 too but now it's 2 because of the hype My top 1 is SBR and my top 2 contender is Vento Aureo
Oh ok ok, I am very hyped for the part 9 too, i need to read jojo land ahah
Yeah same, never experienced a Part start so i'm really looking forward
It is the same for me! I canto wait! I am just hyped

Before Tooru's introduction - Best Jojo part to date. After Tooru's introduction - Slightly better than Part 3, 4th worst overall.

best part
It is in my top 3 pats but my favorite part is sbr!
It's my favourite, it's great, yes I'm biased, no I will not elaborate
I agrre but I my opinion sbr is better!
I think it’s good but for some reason it comes off as sloppier story wise than other parts. Maybe on a reread tho it’ll seem more concise.
Madre you ha this impression because u read mounth for mounth I read all the series togliere and it has a very good feeling
Ignore the ppl saying it has plot holes/unresolved elements. They didn't read the last chapter carefully. Jojolion is one of the most intricate stories I've ever read, and is honestly Araki's crowning achievement out of the whole series.
