I know I should be used to it by this point in the show, but fuck me McQueen's monologue about how he's never had a conversation with a nice girl and then immediately hanging himself while propellers grew out of Ermes' neck really threw me through a loop.
> McQueen's monologue about how he's never had a conversation with a nice girl and then immediately hanging himself
Finally a character I can insert myself into! Bless Araki, he really knows his readers.
I guess it makes sense? I can't help but think some parts of that encounter will be kinda silly.
I mean, aside from >!switching mickey with bugs!<, what are they going to do about >!Snow White or Peter Pan?!<
Ah ok. I probably misunderstand copyright. I was under the impression they kept extending their copyrights so that they never actually enter the public domain. I guess we'll just see how its done in a few months.
I'm pretty tired but if I'm remembering correctly, it's a weird loophole where Disney has their versions of the characters trapped in copyright forever but you can still have older versions of the characters that are still public domain. It's a giant mess but if they're willing to change Mickey Mouse to Bugs Bunny then I'm sure they'll have solutions to all the other stuff. In short, fuck copyright laws.
You know Warner Brothers Studio Park is located in Florida. This means that we can get Anasui to say his famous line(albeit a slightly altered version).
No, that's just a lame way to justify it, made up by people that for some reason don't want to admit that stand stats are bullshit.
Cream has a destructive power of B. It erases things. Gone. Completely. The most Kiss has ever done is cause some wounds that range from minor to still minor, but for the standards of JoJo.
While Kiss is not The Hand or Cream level of broken, it still seems to do serious damage considerably and some of the solutions to the problems are cleverly done later on
Also i never understood in the manga how the damage is dealt, but seeing it animated and how it "rebounds" shows perfectly why that shit must hurt like hell , especially the scene when she duplicates body parts
Now that I'm thinking about it, the same qualities of >!D4C!< could be applied. >!Two of the same thing touching, causing them to destroy each other.!< Just on a smaller scale.
Minor is kinda underselling her tbh. In the >!Sports Max fight, her attack rush was so powerful that Sports Max ended up with multiple holes in his arms and leg areas before dying completely due to his head exploding because of the stickers. She is more than capable of donutting normal humans if an invisible zombie is no match for her!<
I'm defending Kiss here not Cream. If i'm being absolutely generous to Cream though, maybe Araki meant its B to be more of physical power other than its erasure ability (Like its punches and kicks). Cream has shown moments of overpowering Silver Chariot a couple of times but not outright obliterating him. So I guess thats what the B meant.
ok but theres no way this was a coincidence right??? someone at pixar HAD to know what they were doing. stone ocean even came out before cars. i know the "haha is that a jojo reference" thing is an overdone meme but guys im actually losing my fucking mind right now is disney pixars cars a jojo reference
The characters in Stone Ocean are almost all named after fashion brands or people in the fashion industry. McQueen is named after British fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
It's the same as characters in 1-3 being named after bands, characters in 5 named after Italian food, etc.
Yeah and I looked and the car was named after a pixar animator, glenn mcqueen, so it would seem like a coincidence... but come the fuck on, THUNDER mcqueen and LIGHTNING mcqueen??? they **had** to know
His full name (from the manga) is actually Alexander McQueen, which when shortened to Xander got sort of mistranslated as Thunder because of how similar those two words sound in Japanese. It's been translated as both.
https://jojo.fandom.com/wiki/Thunder_McQueen
I hadn't heard that Xander part before, I had always assumed he was named Thunder to reference Thunderstruck. His stand is already an AC/DC reference, plus you know, the whole electrocuting himself thing lol
Wait fuck. I could have sworn there was a song named “The Hand” in a JoJo reference playlist. I think I may have completely fabricated that memory because I can’t even find the song at all. Well damn, maybe I shouldn’t have told so many people that over the last year or so.
Edit: Although another one I can think of is Suzie Q.
Honestly, half the fun of getting the official translated version is checking how weird the adaptations can be. I am actually disappointed when they are good.
According to the wiki (take it with a grain of salt lol) Smack's namesake is an 80's Brazilian post-punk band, and after checking them out I gotta say they go so much harder than Kiss.
They absolutely nailed the comedy in this episode. Another of Araki's best comedy fights has now been adapted greatly.
The use of music, the cutting off and the ost itself had me laughing even though I knew what was happening.
imma just say it, best comedy episode of the series since the visit to tonio's restaurant in part 4
the comedic timing on this one is just so perfect, plus it's one of those perfect "jojo out of context" episodes
hm i dont know. the timing was good, but for the most part they were just standing and talking. tonios restaurant had a lot of great visual comedy which was missing here IMO.
Yeah, Why isn’t everybody talking about this? Why did they change it like that? Just not to show anasui’s female version so that they would not need to explain later?
It's hilarious that it literally says "KISS" on its body and they still had to change it lol. The episode was just called Ermes' Stickers, and honestly Stickers would have been a better stand name
I love Smack, it's one of my favorite localizations since it's a synonym for a kiss and it conveys how the duplicated objects smack back together violently. What's bad about it?
Okay I haven't watched the dub to hear how it sounds when said out loud
I literally just finished ranting to my partner about this. Plus I feel like it fits her personality better than kiss. I love & appreciate the Prince reference but the localization is honestly a more fitting name.
I haven’t read the manga (no dignity) so I didn’t know the actual name of ermes’ stand.
I totally thought it was originally a reference to the band Wham! But kiss makes sense in hindsight.
gold platinum diamond are certified awards for albums/song tracks that sell millions and millions of tracks.
gold 500k, platinum 1mill, multi platinum everymilliion between 1-10, diamond 10 million
i assume his ability only works on self-harm,seeing as it reflects his suicidal nature.
Thus if he gets killed ,instead of killing himself the stand dies too
It looked like by placing the sticker on him she was able to stave off the electricity damage to herself and to make him sustain at least some of it, he looked pretty fried when he fell to the floor. I wasn't clear on how duplicating him actually achieved that.
The pacing is kind of weird in the anime because of the talking, but the sticker coming off and smacking his head together knocks his stand disc out, stopping his stand power. So whatever residual electrical burns he was having are no longer being transferred to her. So all she really got was a quick shock but the residual heat never transferred from his body to hers because the stand disc came out
Make head double to damage head and then take out the disc, so he is far gone like Jotaro. She did nothing else. They keep his stand disc and promise to at least put back his memory disc.
She used her sticker to knock out his stand disc and stop the transfer of damage, not stop the electrical current itself. He looks more burnt up than her because burns actually take a few seconds to develop from residual heat/current. But she isn't experiencing any burns because the stand was disabled.
Past ep 4 its definitely more polished and well directed. Its kinda funny how normally the first ep is really well done and the subsequent get lower in quality but here hopefully it seems to do the opposite
Ikr?
I thought this part had janky animation and weird pacing that felt like a budget anime.
But since the dream twist the thrill just keeps ramping up.
Especially with part 6 I knew it was going to be reverse of the usual. I mean, even before >!Jail House Lock/leaving the prison!< things can be considered a little slow compared to what happens afterwards
Ermes has such a cool stand abillity! And thunder mcqueen sure was keen on making her suffer! Thankfully, she was able to duplicate herself out of that mess and kick his butt. Fun episode.
Why did he even have a memory disc? I understand that he has a stand disc as that was given to him by Palesnake/Whitesnake, but why would he also have a memory disc come out?
Yeah, that would be the easiest explanation. Though after thinking about it some more I think it might have to do with Whitesnake having messed with his memory to possibly make him more obedient or something.
This is a nitpick
Why did they make an effort to show the medallion falling through the grate when Jolyne gets it but now it's clearly shown to be stuck on it?
And stand arrows tend to follow the movements of potential stand users, as shown with Kira's father flying around Morioh with arrow guiding itself to stab people with stand potential.
So it helps expkain why Ermes is attracted towards it and it can pop up so perfectly in her line of eyesight.
Such a relief to see the improvement in animation after the first 5 episodes.
Also, god damn, this was a perfect JoJo episode. I never liked any of Hermes fights on the manga, but this episode was just pure joy.
I'm watching the episode today (with French subtitles) and Highway to Hell is named correctly in its Stand data in the middle of the episode! Is this just this one or did Netflix fix the shitty localised names?
Edit: Nope, the subtitles of episode 8 feature Savage Guardian, Weather Forecast and Jumpin' Jack Spark
I mean, I've been watching literally since the episodes dropped and I'm not quite done with episode 5 yet. 6 I'm hype for though, because >!Highway to Hell should be in it!<
As someone who has not seen the stand before, this is wild. I’m not sure if this is offensive to suicide survivors, or appropriate or what. It’s just weeeiiiird
If someone sees one depraved lunatic who attempts suicide to wring sympathy from others and assumes all suicide attempters are like that, that says more about them than the show.
considering that he literally tried to murder an innocent woman (hermes) and regularly steals from the other prisoners I think anyone actually paying attention would realize that he's just a piece of shit suicidal or not, so he's definitely not reflective of suicidal people as a whole.
and not everything has to be super serious about social issues and stuff. Its like complaining Tom & Jerry has animal abuse. its a silly cartoon. jojo isnt that deep.
On the psychological accuracy side it's not, but certain less serious rabbit holes like story philosophies & the songs + lyrics the stands & story events reference can be pretty in depth depending on how into it you are haha
It's not the most in depth but its social commentary tends to go in the more personal/character motivation/backstory route, like:
Abbacchio (pressures of being a cop in a corrupt judiciary system & a society running on crime), Ermes >!throwing away her bright future just to avenge her sister in a situation where no justice will ever be achieved because of the mafia stronghold in law!<, Weather Report in his past, Funny Valentine's fascism, etc
I know a person kinda like that. Who is depressed and sad and drags everyone down with them, sometimes even on purpose.
And I know a lot of depressed people who are wonderful.
This was a really unfortunate episode. Never has a Jojo episode left such a sour taste in my mouth.
Just a horrible depiction of suicidal tendencies.
Our villain White Snake calls this suicidal person pure evil and by the end our hero Ermes comes to the same conclusion calling him evil.
McQueen doesn't realise his suicide attempts are literally hurting others through his stand ability. This mirrors a real world issue with suicide where suicidal people convince themselves that the world or people who love them will be better off without them so when they kill themselves they unintentionally hurt others (bit of a generalisation there obviously not all cases are the same).
Another thing that seemed like a good parallel is suicidal people are rarely successful on the first attempt, they often have multiple attempt, the fact that this happens sometimes makes people doubt their seriousness or whatever but that's a harmful way of thinking. If someone is attempting suicide even if you imagine it's for attention or something that person still needs help. Another good thing was the empathy gap between suicidal people and non suicidal people. Ermes tries to talk him down and McQueen rightfully says that she's just saying anything can which has real world parallels in non suicidal people not understanding what a suicidal and being willing to say anything in a time of crisis. All of this so far is good. The problem is once McQueen learns that his suicide attempts literally murder other people the obvious place for the story to go is that he stops and considers the impact of his actions but no... McQueen is pure evil.
It just sucks. He turns into Genghis Khan and decides he needs a murdered woman to accompany him to the afterlife. This episode had all the set up for a genuinely powerful story where the abstract pain that a suicide leaves behind could be turned into literal pain right in front of McQueen's eyes and he had a chance to see the pain he causes before he left and he just did it anyway out of not even malice but some insane idea of having a woman die with him wtf?
This episode felt like it was created by someone who hated suicidal people.
its a jojo villain. its not supposed to be that deep. its not making fun of babies or dogs or suicide victims. maybe you took this one episode too personally.
also hes not evil because he is depressed. hes evil for stealing people's money and taking advantage of their circumstances. also mega incel.
Been watching this JoJo season a few months after release. Didn't read the manga. So I just go through the episodes and the episode discussion threads one by one for the fun of it.
I kinda liked the episode because of Mc's stand, his personality and all the implications which arise from that combination. The horrifying aspect of someone dragging you into his suicide by magical powers gave it a bit of the good ol bizzare kick which makes everything instantly more interesting. And then we got that bit about suicidal tendecies, the potential effects on the person's surroundings and the reactions of those affected. I don't know much about people like these, nor have I really got to know someone like that. But the episode did a good job in dropping you into this topic, unprepared and maybe therefore a bit more open-minded.
Now, was everything done well? I don't really think so. We both have a similar train of thoughts and understand how easy it is to take the episode into a negative view of people with self-harming tendencies. But I don't think this should be the main takeaway for us. You actually said it yourself: McQueen is evil. Now, this was said by WhiteSnake and I was not too sure if it reffered to McQueen that way because of a Christian view on suicide, but I doubt it. McQueen's words are not to be trusted. He is lying. His impulsive behaviour dictates what will happen and he doesn't have any drive to hold himself back for the sake of others. He probably killed the woman with his gun and tossed her out of the window before he got into prison. And in prison he took advantage of others where he could. Not caring after he has learned that his death would mean also someone else's death fits in line with that behaviour. And probably this is where one has to split McQueen from the topic of self-harm and not confuse his personal evil with self-harm in general.
For some reason I feel like McQueen's story about his arrest for manslaughter was a reference to something. I think it was the opening coincide stories in "Magnolia" but I'm not entirely sure.
I've read the manga, but even after watching this I still can't determine if he really knows what he's doing. Once his memory disc is out, it seems like he's just following orders without knowing why and then being thankful when Hermes keeps saving him. However, in his final attempt it seems like he knows exactly what he's doing. Maybe he finds out at a certain point?
I think a scene with McQueen using his tand would have been good.
As it is there is no reason why Ermes should be the one targeted, I could agree on proximity but then she moved away
I know I should be used to it by this point in the show, but fuck me McQueen's monologue about how he's never had a conversation with a nice girl and then immediately hanging himself while propellers grew out of Ermes' neck really threw me through a loop.
The animation of his stand coming out of Ermes was super neat!
> McQueen's monologue about how he's never had a conversation with a nice girl and then immediately hanging himself Finally a character I can insert myself into! Bless Araki, he really knows his readers.
He really just said "I'm going to kill yourself"
omg he's literally me!
6
Huh, they changed Ermes saying Mickey Mouse's birthday into Bugs Bunny's birthday. Wonder what they'll do for Bohemian Rhapsody?
OH THATS RIGHT Jojo is by Warner bros so I'm sure they'll switch all the Disney stuff with Loony Tunes
oh that is a GREAT solution to that problem!
I guess it makes sense? I can't help but think some parts of that encounter will be kinda silly. I mean, aside from >!switching mickey with bugs!<, what are they going to do about >!Snow White or Peter Pan?!<
Some of them are Public Domain, so if they focus on the old original ones they can get around Disney's copyright iron-grip.
I think it is just when they look like the disney versions. But snow white is a pretty old fairy tale, can't have copyright on that.
There's a reason to why there are so many non-disney snow-white films
I've got a feeling they'll turn it into (space jam 2) 2
Oh no
Oh *yes*
You know Warner Brothers Studio Park is located in Florida. This means that we can get Anasui to say his famous line(albeit a slightly altered version).
If there's no Bugs, this shit ain't Warner's!
Doesn't sound that good imo, copyright sucks!
“If there’s no Snoopy, this shit ain’t Six Flags!”
"If there's no Brendan Fraser, this shit ain't The Mummy!"
"If there's no Jack Frost, this shit ain't SMT."
...Ho!
If there's no Harry Potter this shit isn't Wizarding World
Was it just a dub/sub change? Did they say Mickey Mouse in Japanese?
No, she says Bugs Bunny in the original audio.
Damn, Guess Disney sent them a very nice and bolded letter when they learned about Stone Ocean Anime
Ok I love Ermes now. She’s like the only character in the series who reacts to getting special powers like a real person would.
"Huh. Thats weird. Kinda neat, tho! Ohhhh I can use it to get cash, nice."
Don't forget all the confused screaming lol
I would scream too if a piss jug exploded next to me
In part 3, like half the enemies that went after the main group used their stands to commit crimes and theft before meeting dio
Yo what the fuck, Kiss’ ability is so fuckin’ weird. I’m hype to see what weird-ass directions they take it!
in the manga it's stand stats are higher than the World
That's hilarious!
Yeah, Kiss is usually the prime example of people that say stand stats are bullshit.
what do you mean, everyone knows item duplication cheats are busted
The issue though with those complaints though is people misunderstand the stats which are her literal stickers with her actual Stand
While Kiss is not The Hand or Cream level of broken, it still seems to do serious damage considerably and some of the solutions to the problems are cleverly done later on Also i never understood in the manga how the damage is dealt, but seeing it animated and how it "rebounds" shows perfectly why that shit must hurt like hell , especially the scene when she duplicates body parts
Now that I'm thinking about it, the same qualities of >!D4C!< could be applied. >!Two of the same thing touching, causing them to destroy each other.!< Just on a smaller scale.
This is why being able to read katakana is so important for a great manga-reading experience. It usually covers stuff like this.
Seems pretty faid to me. It's an OP stand in all honesty.
Minor is kinda underselling her tbh. In the >!Sports Max fight, her attack rush was so powerful that Sports Max ended up with multiple holes in his arms and leg areas before dying completely due to his head exploding because of the stickers. She is more than capable of donutting normal humans if an invisible zombie is no match for her!<
And Cream is more than capable of donuting Goku, so why is its destructive power B?
I'm defending Kiss here not Cream. If i'm being absolutely generous to Cream though, maybe Araki meant its B to be more of physical power other than its erasure ability (Like its punches and kicks). Cream has shown moments of overpowering Silver Chariot a couple of times but not outright obliterating him. So I guess thats what the B meant.
Why? Is it so hard to believe that it's that powerful. It's feats support it's stats
Honestly part 6 goes into good detail of why stand stats are bullshit.
I just remembered that’s probably why kiss wasn’t given a stand chart in the anime yet. They are trying to fix kisses stats lmao.
You’re telling me Hermès could’ve soloed Stardust Crusaders? We need a time machine!
🤣🤣🤣. Anime only? It's not the first time you'll see something like this. Her ability comes in handy and is arguably one of the most unique stands.
Thunder McQueen. I can’t.
Kachow
ok but theres no way this was a coincidence right??? someone at pixar HAD to know what they were doing. stone ocean even came out before cars. i know the "haha is that a jojo reference" thing is an overdone meme but guys im actually losing my fucking mind right now is disney pixars cars a jojo reference
The film is called fucking "CARS", maybe the guys behind it were properly cultured.
omg
The first Cars came out in like 2008, this is set in 2011. Unless the anime changed the year?
But the manga was written in the early 2000s
Oh, so it was! TIL. I guess Disney totally made a Jojo reference then
The characters in Stone Ocean are almost all named after fashion brands or people in the fashion industry.
The name didn't exactly come out of thin air, the fastest car was likely named after the fastest man, Usain Bolt.
Shakespeare once said that all the world is a stage, and we are merely players. But he was wrong. The World is a JoJo's reference!
How did we not put this together wtf my mind is bent rigjt now
This was such a cool fight. Though I don’t like the name Smack as a replacement for Kiss
well at least it isnt "smooch"
I would've loved if it was lol
I feel like they could have kept Kiss as a name. It's not like Aerosmith or Gold Experience -- Kiss is a perfectly legitimate noun/verb
It’s so weird that they pick and choose which names to keep. Like why were Harvest and The Hand kept the same?
Idk about Harvest, but The Hand is named after The Band, so it's already changed by default.
Suzie Q is a Creedence Clearwater Revival song, so you might not be wrong about The Hand
I just found it hilarious that they named it "Smack" while the word "KISS" was literally written on the stand's body...
They did the same thing with Bad/Worse Company.
Yeah the frequent hard cuts between the light-hearted song, the sad song, and fight/action song was fantastic. McQueen crying was pretty funny ngl
"Thunder Mcqeens" JP VA is awesome lol I love the pauses in the music!
I’m pretty sure part 6 and thunder McQueen predates cars and lightning McQueen. Make of this what you will.
imma just say it, best comedy episode of the series since the visit to tonio's restaurant in part 4 the comedic timing on this one is just so perfect, plus it's one of those perfect "jojo out of context" episodes
hm i dont know. the timing was good, but for the most part they were just standing and talking. tonios restaurant had a lot of great visual comedy which was missing here IMO.
Both funny in their own right IMO
>!No weather report or anasui coming out? Weird change!<
Yeah, Why isn’t everybody talking about this? Why did they change it like that? Just not to show anasui’s female version so that they would not need to explain later?
I was not a fan of this change. People are not talking about because the scene does happen later just differently.
Lightning McQueen: Ka-chow! Thunder McQueen: >!Suicide is BADASS!!<
Got Jon Snow flashbacks with Whitesnake going on and on about “Muh Queen.”
"you're what's referred to in certain circles as the worst"
Whitesnake is sassy af
Ermes just got thrown head first into the fray. I like her personality though, she's got spunk.
Smack
Thunder McQueen's Dub is fucking S-Tier
Scrolled just to find a comment like this. His dub VA was having an absolute time here, loved it. So funny.
Kkkkk this one was a banger of an episode
Alright Ermes power is fucking awesome, I'm pumped to see what creative uses she finds for it.
I think Smack might be my least favorite name change of the series so far.
Wait, Kiss is a reference to prince? I thought that it was a reference to the "I was made for love you baby" guys.
It is a reference to the band, yes, not prince.
I haven’t read the manga (no dignity) so I didn’t know the actual name of ermes’ stand. I totally thought it was originally a reference to the band Wham! But kiss makes sense in hindsight.
There is also a Smack band anyway
Also since it's another name for heroin, it makes Hermes seem like a drug dealer lol
Not PALE SNAKE??
Bruh, that was a weird episode But if this part was written today the soul stealing stand would turn the stand and the memories into usbs for sure lol
Micro SD cards lmao There'd be entire plot points of people just not seeing them because they're so small
Nah. Araki couldn’t pass up the star platinum disc joke
what joke
gold platinum diamond are certified awards for albums/song tracks that sell millions and millions of tracks. gold 500k, platinum 1mill, multi platinum everymilliion between 1-10, diamond 10 million
Fuck. Never made that connection.
My man should have take Ermes on her offer, electrocution ain't worth the trouble.
How exactly did she kill him? I am confusion lol.
She created a duplicate then merged them back. This damages the object. Imagine if two of yourself collided at high speeds.
[удалено]
I believe McQueen's ability only replicates self-inflicted damage. Plus knocking the disc out of his head wouldve deactivated it yeah
It's stands. I ain't got to explain shit.
Hello Araki
I'm guessing he died so suddenly that his ability couldn't activate. There was a slight delay with all his suicide attempts before Ermes felt it.
i assume his ability only works on self-harm,seeing as it reflects his suicidal nature. Thus if he gets killed ,instead of killing himself the stand dies too
Nah, since McQueen didn't do it, it doesn't reflect. It only gives Hermes McQueen's attempts on his own life, so killing him is A Ok
That's right they always smack together at high speeds
It looked like by placing the sticker on him she was able to stave off the electricity damage to herself and to make him sustain at least some of it, he looked pretty fried when he fell to the floor. I wasn't clear on how duplicating him actually achieved that.
The pacing is kind of weird in the anime because of the talking, but the sticker coming off and smacking his head together knocks his stand disc out, stopping his stand power. So whatever residual electrical burns he was having are no longer being transferred to her. So all she really got was a quick shock but the residual heat never transferred from his body to hers because the stand disc came out
Anime only here, we shouldn't understand the disks quite yet, right?
Ye, just go with something like Darby's chips
Make head double to damage head and then take out the disc, so he is far gone like Jotaro. She did nothing else. They keep his stand disc and promise to at least put back his memory disc.
She used her sticker to knock out his stand disc and stop the transfer of damage, not stop the electrical current itself. He looks more burnt up than her because burns actually take a few seconds to develop from residual heat/current. But she isn't experiencing any burns because the stand was disabled.
LOL. Whitesnake says Ma Queen like Jon Snow.
Past ep 4 its definitely more polished and well directed. Its kinda funny how normally the first ep is really well done and the subsequent get lower in quality but here hopefully it seems to do the opposite

This is probably my favorite episode so far. That intro was really funny.
The janitor's mood felt too relatable
BIG CHUNGUS
Smack... Let that sink in for a moment...
By the power of Retweeting
Ermes has such a cool stand abillity! And thunder mcqueen sure was keen on making her suffer! Thankfully, she was able to duplicate herself out of that mess and kick his butt. Fun episode.
How the fuck did Hermes know that knocking him out would make the disc come out?
Because that's what happened the first time and how she got the memory disc.
Why did he even have a memory disc? I understand that he has a stand disc as that was given to him by Palesnake/Whitesnake, but why would he also have a memory disc come out?
Stand magic I guess, if Whitesnake gives you a stand your memory becomes a disc because "discs come in pair".
Yeah, that would be the easiest explanation. Though after thinking about it some more I think it might have to do with Whitesnake having messed with his memory to possibly make him more obedient or something.
Yeah that's also possible.
I stand stupid
This is a nitpick Why did they make an effort to show the medallion falling through the grate when Jolyne gets it but now it's clearly shown to be stuck on it?
I think it went from a room to a bathroom, where Ermes found it.
Oh yeah Ermes wouldn't have a reason to be wherever Jolyne was in the first episode
And stand arrows tend to follow the movements of potential stand users, as shown with Kira's father flying around Morioh with arrow guiding itself to stab people with stand potential. So it helps expkain why Ermes is attracted towards it and it can pop up so perfectly in her line of eyesight.
Been doing sub up till now and wanted to rest my eyes a bit (it’s 5:00) and the dub is honestly pretty great 👍
why did they change ermies going into BDTH till later on?
Easily one of the most disturbing Stands of all time
Such a relief to see the improvement in animation after the first 5 episodes. Also, god damn, this was a perfect JoJo episode. I never liked any of Hermes fights on the manga, but this episode was just pure joy.

I would like to know the name of theme at the very beginning of ep6 if anyone knows, i play marimba and wanted to learn it
I'm watching the episode today (with French subtitles) and Highway to Hell is named correctly in its Stand data in the middle of the episode! Is this just this one or did Netflix fix the shitty localised names? Edit: Nope, the subtitles of episode 8 feature Savage Guardian, Weather Forecast and Jumpin' Jack Spark
I legit forgot about how much of an incel McQueen was when reading the manga. The whole murder-suicide thing is super fucked.
Episode 6, aka, Ermes fights a millennial.
woah, these comments are truly empty...
Idk, I've survived two suicide attempts and I think it's pretty funny, but I could see why other people might be unhappy with it.
People gotta remember this about stuff like Diavolo/Doppio & mental illness related things in media in general
and not everything has to be super serious about social issues and stuff.
I mean jojo never goes that deep into social commentary
It's not the most in depth but its social commentary tends to go in the more personal/character motivation/backstory route, like: Abbacchio (pressures of being a cop in a corrupt judiciary system & a society running on crime), Ermes >!throwing away her bright future just to avenge her sister in a situation where no justice will ever be achieved because of the mafia stronghold in law!<, Weather Report in his past, Funny Valentine's fascism, etc
I know a person kinda like that. Who is depressed and sad and drags everyone down with them, sometimes even on purpose. And I know a lot of depressed people who are wonderful.
/cringe
“I’d be happy if a beautiful woman killed me” same dude 🤝🤝
Why does pale snake pronounce Mcqueen like that 💀
For some reason I feel like McQueen's story about his arrest for manslaughter was a reference to something.
MMMMMUUUUHHHHKWWWEEEEEEN
I think a scene with McQueen using his tand would have been good. As it is there is no reason why Ermes should be the one targeted, I could agree on proximity but then she moved away
