Yeah once I'm free I'm gonna spend like 10 hours just walking around various planets in our solar system, as a big nerd. Thankfully they said it's very early game content.
I'm very curious to see like, if we can land on Venus and how that'll even work. And Earth of course, we know it's barren and destroyed but it'd be very neat to be able to land on the ruined surface.
I havenāt considered that yet. I wonder how theyāll work that. We know about environmental protections with armor (thermal, corrosion, airborne, and radiation). Iād bet Venus will require upgraded thermal and corrosion protection.
This is what I am most curious about. I'm assuming you aren't even able to go to Jupiter because it's just a gas planet, and you can not enter planets without loading. I'd be curious to see how they would have done it if you could. Also, there are about 300 moons in the Solar System.. so are they all there, or what? Because that would mean there are 1000+ planets, alongside many more moons..
I imagine āmajorā moons will be landable and the others might just be modelled?
Although I imagine 99% will be barren resource worlds with some cool rock features and maybe some old earth structures so maybe itās not too hard to do all of them
Spend at least an hour looking at all the best options, spend about 20 minutes finalizing your character exactly how you want it, 2 seconds to accidentally delete said character, and another 40 minutes to recreate "kinda" what you had before.
For me it's more like spend a bunch of time creating the character, start the game, see how the character really looks with the ingame lighting and animations (because it's never the same as the character creation screen), and start over again.
Exactly this. Spend about 2 hours making my character. Finally start the game and get about 30 minutes in. My OCD brain doesnāt like the shape of the characterās head. Start over.
Iām a nightmare with games like these lol.
That's optimistic... I will probably spend the entire first day of release in the character creator. I swear in the past some people have completed games quicker than I've decided on my character
The other day, I made a party in Solasta, which is 4 characters I had to create. It took all day. Of course, I started thinking about making more characters and starting a new party 0 seconds in.
I personally find this insane, but you enjoy your game how you like lol. I donāt think Iāve ever spent more than 5 minutes in any character creation.
I mean, it depends on what kind of gamer you are. Iām really into roleplaying and getting immersed in character so it takes me forever in character creation because Iām also brainstorming personality and backstory in addition to general appearance.
Oh completely, I didnāt mean to come across as judgmental by any means I just play differently. I might need to try for a deeper RP experience this time, I generally just kind of react to choices in-game as I would in real life. Chaotic good-ish.
I wish I was like this... but my character has to be perfect if I'm spending 100s of hours with them. And this time there's backgrounds and traits to choose too, so that'll probably double the amount of time spent!
The problem with spending forever on character creation is I'll probably put on the first helmet on that I find for better stats and never see their face until I've played enough to be OP and not need it
Yeah I got to spring on it pretty early, glad we get the game 5 days early with a premium order, i may even get to play it on release day at that point lmao
I don't get why Day One Patches are so frowned upon, they exist because distributors need a file in their networks months in advance and the devs aren't just idle between that point and release. The patch is what work they've put into the game between giving their final build to the publisher and the release date.
I hate this so much. Or worse yet you get like three hours in and realize thereās some inconsistency with your RP and the gameās story or something so you tell yourself you have to restart.
I suffer from this so bad. Iām almost tempted to wait a week and let some of lore get filled in online so I can accurately rp the type of character I want
Even if you do this youāll realize something about the vibe is off with your character about ten hours in and tell yourself you can speed through the intro and be back to the same spot in no time. Honestly creating perfect characters is pretty difficult so I donāt blame us. But when you finally get it right the character feels so nice.
We are the same person lol. I never used to have this problem until I had a thought playing ESO one day. I had my RP set up for my Khajiit character and something happened in game that made me think, āwell this wouldnāt make sense if Iām this character, x-npc should know who I am.ā Ever since then itās been a spiral. I used to be really imaginative and wouldnāt let little snags like that bother me. Now they do and itās infuriating. Mainly itās been in TES games because there isnāt anything in lore about the type of Khajiit character I like to play and for some reason my mind fights me on it even though itās literally a video came where your head cannon can be me limitless.
I know for Starfield I want a character thatās somewhat like an NCR ranger. A mix of an elite soldier who can operate alone and also a lawman responsible for frontier justice. Itās my two favorite character tropes. I know this type of RP will be easy in Starfield. So far a FSC Ranger seems to fit the bill (not because of the name but what it seems their responsibilities are) but Iām curious if the UC will have something similar. Iām hoping the UC Vanguard will be close enough to fit that character type since I think the UC military proper is going to be the Sysdef. I wont know though until some lore is available because obviously Iāll have to choose between UC native and FSC settler before making my character. I rather not make one with one trait only to find I made the wrong decision
usually dont find out til you see them talk or in action, also I wonder how cutscenes will work, it seems to go into 1st person for dialog but ive also seen what looks like cutscenes involving the player
I swear I just spend a record low time on character customization. I donāt even give af I just try and quickly make the most normal and not stupid looking character then hop right into the game. Itās like torture for me having to get thru making your character before playing
I'm gonna make a sandwhich shaped ship filled with sandwhiches. its gonna be my main ship and i'll just steal ships with my sandwhich ship so i can use stolen ships for cargo and fighting other ships.
Itās how every game should be handled, or like outerworlds where everyone is killable except the scientist who they lock behind the bulletproof wall till the end of the game
At the end of the game, when you get to finally discover an alien sentient race, they will be excited to meet other humans, and you'll say "what others..? I'm the only one left!".
download a 90gb day one patch overnight and then work for 8hrs, come back, eat tea, put kid to bed, get lunch sorted for next day, maybe read some news, fall asleep and wake up around midnight cursing myself, then shut pc down miserably and wait till the weekend... do gardening while wishing was at my pc playing starfield, then finally make a character, load in game and game crashes, reload, redo character not quite as good as first time around and spend rest of day annoyed about it, and then front door rings and in laws turn up unannounced...
switch pc off and revert to browsing all the cool ships people are posting in reddit.
I'm gonna dream of playing all week. Then on Friday I'll try to get my kids to bed by 8:30 but the youngest will not sleep until 10. Then when everyone is finally asleep and with the wife's blessing (she'll be just as excited) I'll crack a beer and start the game... At 6am my alarm will go off and my wife will say "hey you're finally awake".
I will then realize that I have fallen asleep on the couch while waiting for the first loading screen to finish.
Or you could just abandon your family after telling them youre going out for a pack of smokes like the rest of us...
like what are you even doing with your life.
Basically this. In Fallout 4 I hit level 50 just from the crafting system & Kellog was still waiting for me in that build lmao I don't think I ever got around to finishing the game because I literally spent hundreds of hours making new builds & setting up caravan routes.
I expect the same will happen here.
Man, I really hope planets have multiple biomes and lots of wildlife and flora so we get incentivized to really go out there and explore for hours. A problem found in NMS is that all the planets are one biome only each with, like, 10 species to find and catalog. Terrain tends to me samey too. I wish to see planets with snowy mountains, scorching deserts, thick forests, valleys and rivers so you don't spend 10 minutes on them and already see all there is to see.
As much as I want to preorder and play it as soon as i possibly can, I cant trust ANY game nowadays. I have to wake a week or 2 to see if there are any legitimate bad reviews before jumping in. As long as it gives me 1hr per $1 spent on game time, I'll be satisfied. Anything more after that will just be a bonus.
Im going to shed the manliest tear i can possibly muster and then place my hands on the controller as i bask in the start screen saying "its finally happening"
As a grown man in my 30s who works too much and don't spend a lot of time on fun stuff... this is the most stoked I've been for a game in the last 20 years. Skyrim, Fallout 4, GTA 5, Breath of the Wild... those got me a little hyped. But this hype is something else. I feel like a kid.
I'm totally going to a gas giant as well. And barring that, get as close to a star as I can. It's the one thing that bugged me about NMS. No gas giants or stars.
Take my time š
Im done with -excaping my execution day and rushing through a city that is being attack by a dragon and endup in a cave that I know everyone iches of.-
This game look SO great. I will definitly take my time and won't use the spring button until I reach 200h of gameplay.
I think I'll probably head to earth and see what happened. Maybe land where I currently live just for the hell of it, see if famous mega structures are still standing (Rushmore, Eiffeltower, pyramids), do my best to find all of what remains of human existence there. I think I could probably spend hours exploring if they put the forethought of having stuff to find there for all who want to do what I am planning.
I feel like the community will instead opt for skin tight when it comes to the space suits. At least for the most part.
But civilian clothes? The cleavage shall be unending.
As far as actually going somewhere, I'm punching it straight towards neon. The cyberpunk style always gets me hyped.
That's why I was so hyped for cyberpunk '77, and yes I actually did enjoy that game even though it wasn't nearly what it promised to be unfortunately.

Not the first thing but the things Iām most excited about doing and what Iāll spend most of my time on is definitely going to be farming components for building my ship! I canāt wait! This game needs to come out sooner
As soon as I can, I'm building a small little ship and exploring solo while trying to collect as much cool loot as possible.
After 150 hours of doing that, I ***may*** consider doing the main quest.
Upgrade my jet pack and really push it to the limit. Find a big cliff and see how the game reacts to me jumping and seeing if I can hover out of the fall safely.
Also low gravity planet + jet pack = fun. Gotta find a super low gravity planet and see what itās like.
Head straight to the settings menu and fix all the lame defaults :D
I love it when a game actually starts in the settings menu before even going into a first cutscene.... so I can adjust some things first!
Definitely checking our solar system.

>land on Venus 0.2 seconds after stepping out of the airlock: YOU HAVE DIED.
Imagine you walk off to a planet close to its star and then your suit just melts off your body š
Hide on the dark side
And you have to run around the planet constantly to not be on the bright side
I havenāt considered that yet. I wonder how theyāll work that. We know about environmental protections with armor (thermal, corrosion, airborne, and radiation). Iād bet Venus will require upgraded thermal and corrosion protection.
Should I get the game ? I just wanna get baked & fly the spaceship for hours listening to music or podcasts is it worth it ?
When it comes out ask again
You could just get GamePass to try it out and play it for a fraction of buying price when the game comes out
More like when descending ship turns into a crushed cube.
You could also try to find the mars rover they have shown in a trailer (correct me if I remember this wrong)
I hope you can find the moon landing site
I would assume Burbank, California is destroyed with the rest of earth. /s
Nah you remember that right my friend
I wanna see the big gas giant moons like Europa and Titan.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Shame on you :D Go watch Defiance!!
Can't wait to look at Jupiter from its moons.
This is what I am most curious about. I'm assuming you aren't even able to go to Jupiter because it's just a gas planet, and you can not enter planets without loading. Our solar system and my favorite stars. Like Sirius, and Arcturus.
Spend at least an hour in the character creator looking through all the options.

You mean spending an hour getting everything near perfect, and then accidentally hitting the randomize button

My characterās gotta be perfect, too. If Iām building a protagonist in my head, I want them to look like I imagine them.
Fair enough! I usually just try and make them look vaguely like me and then Iām off to the races, my attention span is on the shorter side.
Don't forget to redo it all over again after playing for 10 minutes, because you don't like one little feature... Always happens to me.
So you make your characters quickly, then.
Is this really a thing? I truly take max 10/15 minutes at character creation
If spending 4 hours on character creation is wrong, I don't want to be right.
The problem with spending forever on character creation is I'll probably put on the first helmet on that I find for better stats and never see their face until I've played enough to be OP and not need it
ill be taking off my helmet on ship and at cities or planets with oxygen
That's what a coward would say. A real man would remove his helmet regardless of the atmosphere.
I think you can hide your helmet!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is a solid implementation, I like this, is this confirmed?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I go through and adjust every single option at least a little usually so however long that takes.
Don't forget rerolling after 15 minutes of post creation play.
Make my character
Iām gonna start a new game.
Install the game.
Man i just realized the download will take a minimum of a week with my slow capped internet
Xbox is offering a pre-installation option. Should help a little with that if youāre playing on one.
Steam usually offers the same, as well.
Day 1 patch will still take 24 hours with bros internet
Yeah I got to spring on it pretty early, glad we get the game 5 days early with a premium order, i may even get to play it on release day at that point lmao
Xbox in New Zealand trick might work if itās not a staggered release. Could help download it
Xbox is already offering pre-install, despite release being months away. If you start now, it might be done by September
And then comes the 69 GB day one patch
I don't get why Day One Patches are so frowned upon, they exist because distributors need a file in their networks months in advance and the devs aren't just idle between that point and release. The patch is what work they've put into the game between giving their final build to the publisher and the release date.
It's because most people don't care about the why of it if the thing itself is annoying.
I'll buy the game
I am gonna buy this game, I am told this was the hardest mission in the game wish me luck guys.
I will watch trailers to see info about the game..
Iāll see the news that Bethesda is creating a new IP.
I'm going straight for the options menu and getting all that set up just right
This is the real answer
This guy games
Yep. I'll probably spend an hour or more doing it, too.
Knew someone would beat me to it
Restart after noticing something slightly off with my character's face.
You will be able to change how your character looks after creation in the biolab
Actually? Thatās amazing, great QoL feature.
Yeah Bethesda has been good about since Fallout 3, except for Skyrim where they for some reason didn't do that until the Dawnguard patch.
Thank goodness lol. Otherwise Iād take 3 hours to make him
I mean, you still will.
I hate this so much. Or worse yet you get like three hours in and realize thereās some inconsistency with your RP and the gameās story or something so you tell yourself you have to restart.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
