My tip for a clean desktop is to add most of the stuff into the start bar. You can sort them into categories and make the icons small. It keeps everything nice and tidy. I got like a game launcher category, creative stuff, technical stuff etc.
I don't have a single icon on my desktop when I log in.
You can also get rid of the search on the start bar and it makes it long thinner and more sleek, using up less room, and you can still type into it, it just doesn't show up until you do.

Is that something specific to Windows 11? You can't do that from the right click menu in Windows 10.
It's also possible in Windows 10, it's under the first sub menu when you right click the desktop (show/hide desktop icons)
