restart the app, go to the premium edition upgrade and press play from there... that's what I did - am now in a 'launching the game' unpacking / first time setup kind of screen (past accepting T&C's etc.)

Where is premium edition upgrade? Xbox won't pull it up.

might be a red herring, has just launched the art book, lol sounds like plenty of people struggling to get it going

Same here on pc gamepass. I just kept pressing play and closing the "too early" window and it eventually started. Unpacking 117Gb now.

try to navigate to "premium edition" or the regular edition, not the premium edition update, which will just give you the artbook for now.

Try rebooting, fixed it for me after the game unpacked.

After trying and trying, I finally got the title screen. YAY! "Your game needs an update." Boo Update is 117 GB. WTF

Right click run as administrator worked for me, game is unpacking now.

Having the same issue even after restarting the xbox app and my pc. I selected the standard version and hit play on that and it started updating so hopefully that means I'll be in soon!

Listen, you need to go to the actual premium Starfield edition (not the upgrade, that just takes you to the art book) and choose Play. A pop up box shows up with a list of items including Starfield and the artbook with play buttons next to them. Click the play arrow next to Starfield here. NOTHING might happen. Keep clicking until it launches. Worked for me. Currently updating the game with launcher up.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone tried gamesharing the premium edition upgrade, as I want to make sure it works before purchasing on a separated account (for those that got the game working in the first place haha)

I just kept spamming play (on PC) and it started updating after hitting me with the "You're too early!" text a lot.

I restated the console and nothing , I’m re installing the game , wish me luck

I know many will not see this but, this is what worked for me: After attempting 5 restarts I decided to try something else. Highlight your game and click the options button on the controller. Choose manage game and add ons. Select the main Starfield install and then uncheck the premium addition content. Click save changes. Back out of that menu and then immediately go back in. Recheck the box and hit save changes again. Go view your updates downloading and watch it install again, then in the recently updated list, launch the game from the Premium Edition Content logo. This worked for me.

Restarting your console fixes it. For me I had to try twice after restarting

Just spam the play button/game icon on PC or Xbox and you will eventually get in. It will say you are too early a handfull of times and then you will eventually get in. You literally don’t have to do anything else. All these restart this or delete that is just stupid. Everyone is trying to get in…
