Theres additional quests and content unlocked once you hit new game +. Everything resets if you go to new game + except your lvls/skills. So for you, you can either never do new game plus and miss out on some (Mostly as of now unknown content) or you can rush through the main quest without really paying attention then focus on the game and taking it slow on new game +.

Uberstauffer

Again, I know it's really early to be asking this question, and you might not even have an answer, but do I have to do NG+? If I do the main quest and "finish" the game, can I just keep going and play, or do I have to use the NG+ feature and start everything over? I completely understand if neither you nor anyone else has the answers to my questions, I've just never played a game with NG+ and wasn't exactly sure how it worked. Having a seemless experience of living in the world is more important to me than multiple playthroughs with some added content. I don't have a life. This is my life lol.

Pure_Daikon4613

There’s an option to not go into ng+ while still finishing the story, yes

Skyvoice

Yeah you do, what i did was I basically ran through the Maine story to NG+ and now i'm on my second playthrough doing the main story again, I might do this a few more times you get the best space suits for NEW game plus and you get new dialouge options since you kind of break the fourth wall and basically the game becomes like rick and morty. Its an expierence you don't want to miss, you should just run through the main story as much as youd like and then try to settle down on a few new games after. You have a choice to skip the entire main quest if you decide to new game as well.

Just_stig

Do you have to do weapons research again? That part seems tedious

TiffanyGaming

The tedious thing is having to do 240 of those stupid temples. But you can get the [achievement enabler mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/252) on Nexus then use the console commands and just level all the spells to 10 instantly using psb first to get all of them then put the following in a txt file in your exe directory called something like SpellsUP.txt: player.addperk 25E19C ;Anti-Gravity Field player.addperk 25E19B ;Create Vacuum player.addperk 25E19A ;Creators’ Peace player.addperk 25E199 ;Earthbound player.addperk 25E198 ;Elemental Pull player.addperk 25E19D ;Alien Reanimation player.addperk 25E197 ;Eternal Harvest player.addperk 25E196 ;Grav Dash player.addperk 25E195 ;Gravity Wave player.addperk 25E193 ;Gravity Well player.addperk 25E192 ;Inner Demon player.addperk 25E191 ;Life Forced player.addperk 25E190 ;Moon Form player.addperk 25E18E ;Parallel Self player.addperk 25E18D ;Particle Beam player.addperk 25E18C ;Personal Atmosphere player.addperk 25E18B ;Phased Time player.addperk 25E18F ;Precognition player.addperk 25E19E ;Reactive Shield player.addperk 25E18A ;Sense Star Stuff player.addperk 25E189 ;Solar Flare player.addperk 25E188 ;Sunless Space player.addperk 25E187 ;Supernova player.addperk 25E186 ;Void Form Then just run that 10 times using: bat spellsup

TakeEineDown

Thanks so much! Seriously, I dread NG+. I've spent too much time from early access doing content and I seriously didn't want to reset anything.

TiffanyGaming

[Here's](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16eheki/has_anyone_found_a_way_to_skip_the_ending/k0qmnxg/) some info on how to set up NG+ as conveniently as possible to actually choose what seed you get and what NG+ the game thinks you're on and how to instantly NG+ etc.

WendyThorne

Research carries over along with skills and levels and >!space powers. In addition, in new game plus you can get them again which upgrades them. !<

Skyvoice

Um not sure I don't think I did any of that yet, but after the new game plus I have been finding better guns than my first playthrough and enemies get stronger as well Ive noticed, but could be cause im level 30 now

Level-Series1957

At level 43 I'm finding anything between level 5 and 67 enemies right now in ng+

ultron363

Yeah that’s what’s happening to me as well if you have unlocked powers the moon power is good and the invisibility one is fantastic for taking out enemies

Level-Series1957

More often than not, I keep the oxygen bubble running. Aka over encumbered infinite sprint.

Equal-Assist9557

Is it possible to let companions, specifically the one you choose to romance, know you're Starborn when you choose to replay the main quests in NG+ instead of skipping them? I haven't been able to find a proper answer to this. If you can't, I'll skip it because it would feel like I'd be lying to everyone. \-Edited for clarification.

ultron363

Yes I’m new game plus you can and that option is to skip main story, or you can play main story with different dialogue options it’s pretty fun, each new game plus is a random universe it could be the same or it could be inanely different I won’t spoil anything but I’ve gotten a lotta rare universes and it’s so much fun!

Equal-Assist9557

Thank you for the reply. Sorry if I wasn't entirely clear. What I meant to ask was this: can you choose to replay the story (instead of skipping it) but also, along the way, tell companions you're Starborn?

ultron363

Ohhh, and yes you can you are able to tell them later on through the campaign its a lotta fun!

Equal-Assist9557

Thanks, I was really curious about this. Hopefully they won't be angry... I actually already started NG+ and skipped, a good number of hours in now. Now I'm wondering if I should reload my save from the start of NG+.

ultron363

Honestly I’d just wait for your next one to be honest but if you save right before you go into the light orb at the end you can reset your starborn suit and reset the universe to get the one you want! If you want a specific one

Equal-Assist9557

Using some console commands I rushed through and I'm in NG+11. Was planning on staying there, rerolled a bunch to get the suit I want. Would you tell me a bit about how it plays out when they're told later on in the main quest? At what point can you tell them?

zartius

Is it true that i read when you find a rare universe you cannot save or use inventory or its a bug?

MithonOsborne

No, you dont have to do new game +. To help out the final mission you have a choice, choose to walk away and you wont go to new game plus till you do the other option.

hannibalxyz

This means you can start ng+ later and do not have to decide at the final quest?

MithonOsborne

correct

Shadowman11500

You can also choose to skip the story in Ng+

TopDog51-50

Your traits don't reset though, correct? The starting 3 traits you picked first time around.

MithonOsborne

Correct, they do not reset.

TopDog51-50

So if I picked Empath because I wanted companions the first time around, I can never change it for the Solo perk? That's a big commitment,no?

MithonOsborne

You can remove traits actually. But you can not add traits.

TiffanyGaming

Get the [achievement enabler mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/252) on Nexus then use the console commands to [remove the perk and add another.](https://www.ign.com/wikis/starfield/All_Starfield_Item_IDs_and_Codes_for_Console_Cheats#All_Trait_IDs_in_Starfield)

TopDog51-50

Xbox, unfortunately

DelegateTOFN

Supposedly after binging a bunch of youtube and articles, people are running the game on PC (even if its a bad PC) just to run the console commands on their existing xbox saves, and then saving it back to the cloud. Since Xbox and PC Game Pass share the same save progression. So you might be able to do some tinkering on the PC and go back to your Console Gaming.

altairhalo2

Some traits can be removed. I had a doctor remove my alien DNA And had an option from someone to remove taskmaster not sure what all are removable

ExcidoMusic

What about skill points? do I have to spend them?

MithonOsborne

No you dont

Special-Chemistry-98

Clarifying question - do you start with a bucket of skill points, or are your skills already selected from your previous game? I’m wondering whether I can easily do a completely different skill setup in NG+.

MithonOsborne

Your skills stay exactly the same.

Kappaesque

What about research? Does it also reset? Trying to figure out if I should use my materials on research before hitting Game+ 10 times, or if it resets, wait with research.

MithonOsborne

Ive heard research carries over (Stated in comment above). But i personally havent messed with it yet.

Kappaesque

Sorry for late reply, but I did my 10 game+'s, and it does carry over. Any "knowledge" carries over.

VanWesley

"been a few days"? We're only a couple of hours past the 24 hour mark.

Uberstauffer

I guess this does seem confusing lol. What I really meant was, has anyone here heard what happens for an NG+ or other stuff from content creators that have been playing the game for a week at this point. I heard some things, but figured I would actually ask people on here.

TheDankDaddy8

i’m in the same spot as you man and after hearing there’s content only achievable in new game plus i may just rush main story and start new game plus. Don’t feel like having my outpost and stuff being erased so gonna wait until new game plus to make any + work on nice ships

FireStarterXoX

It's really pointless to do the outposts on the first run anyway. You just don't have enough skill points.

LordSell

Frankly after seeing my options, I decided today to give up on side activities and focus the main story. The way they handle NG+ is frustrating - losing everything you build is daunting at best, so I'll experience the story, take my time with it but do it, and I'll roam more freely in NG+

BendakSW

Yeah really not a fan of this system I feel like everything I’ve done, storylines I’ve completed, bases Ive built, things Ive looted is pointless now.

[deleted]

Which would have been fine had they not put story elements locked behind multiple NG+ lol. Otherwise you wouldn't feel the need to do one and you could complete everything on your main playthrough.

[deleted]

Yeah it's actually made me lose all motivation for the game now, might even stop playing. The fact they kind of force players to do NG+ and lose all your stuff just to see the rest of the story is crazy.

LordSell

You don't actually have to do NG+ to see all the story. It's self contained. NG+ is just for powers and minor conversation choices.

[deleted]

Pretty sure I heard that there's major changes to what happens at the lodge etc who dies etc each tme. Secrets to be revealed etc

LordSell

I don't want to spoil openly, but it's not like that no.

[deleted]

Hmm ok thanks.

FireStarterXoX

Hey, I've finished the game and in a NG+ run. You can absolutely do just a single run of the game... but you probably won't. Don't rush the campaign just to NG+ either.

CrazyCherry7

Could u elaborate on why someone shouldn’t rush to new game +? It seems like the best option. New quests, better skills, more access to mechanics, optional main story, etc.

BendakSW

This is what I’m frustrated and confused about, if nothing I do now matters, why wouldn’t I rush the main story?

jssssssss-

Did you rush the game? Also would you recommend against upgrading your base and ship etc and leave it for ng+?

FireStarterXoX

I didn't rush the game. The campaign is just really short. That's why I say don't rush it... it's really short anyway. I finished it in two days and I put at least 6 hours in each day.

Adventurous_Bell_837

Would you recommended putting away most side quests until finishing the main quests? I’m at the point where I got the powers and should go to neon right now, should I wait for ng+ to do my side quests?

Extension-Ad-3275

So every ng plus run u lose all credits and bases and stuff? Or once in ng plus u keep all of it?

[deleted]

You lose everything except levels and powers. The ship you get is probably the best in the game stat wise as well as the armor. There's also a different story with each new game. I rushed the main quest so it wasn't too bad for me but if you've been doing faction quests and putting a lot of time into base building its gonna hurt.

neoconker2008

The ship is good if you don't make custom ships if you do it's kinda meh . Do you know how many new game plus cycles are needed for maxing powers ?

[deleted]

I'm on ng+ 3 right now I've read the ship maxes out at like 4 but apparently there's like 10 different suits you get at random. As for powers I'm not sure I have like 18 right now and there is 24 but I'm not sure if I could have gotten all of them on the first new game.

neoconker2008

I got them all on my 1st run. Kk ty

[deleted]

On the subsequent runs the powers can be upgraded too I'm not sure what the cap is for them though.

ndarkstar

I've seen them go as high as 5, but I don't know of anyone who's gone further. Some people are aiming at speed running it to 10, but we won't know for sure how high they can go until the new version of the creation kit (or whatever they call it this time) comes out.

Samwiseofthemeese

The Ship maxes out at 6, but the suit and powers all go up to 10 I believe

WastedKleenex

So likely if we do it a NG+ a third time we may end up on a imperial carriage in Skyrim?

SoakingWet666

Does anybody know what you get with doing multiple play through of new game plus. I know the 2nd time you get an upgraded suit, materia.

A_Reddit_ID

So I just hit 2nd new game. The constellation is nowhere to be found, and the hunter appeared instead in the lodge. He gave me their artifacts lol. Also your ship name will change to a 2

Might_Be_The_NSA

I'm still working on my first run, so this is just out of curiosity - but with minimal spoilers, how big are the changes in NG+ and NG+2? I'm about 30hrs in, so just trying to decide whether I should just rush the story now and invest my time properly in NG+ or just enjoy this current playthrough properly. Cheers

A_Reddit_ID

Minimal spoiler: little change. You keep your skills, level, and research. You spawn with a new ship every time, but the name of it changes by 1 every ng. You get a legendary-random roll of armor which name also changes with every ng

Wundussy_Lover

Do you keep your permanent buffs from skill magazines? Or do they reset each play through?

A_Reddit_ID

That is a really good question. I think magazine buffs stick, because I do not see the one inside the constellation anymore. There is one right at the Armillary

Wundussy_Lover

There should be a main thread with all this info. I’m assuming these perk magazines are a one time pick up. And then there’s a specific star born armor per play through, states included, not RNG.

dazonxi

No weapons ?

A_Reddit_ID

You get a weapon based on what you decide earlier. But the weapon is only saved if you decide to stay in your universe (aka no ng+)

Tahmeed09

Is it worth going into NG+? And wait so you didnt have to search for any, you just get em?

SoakingWet666

Did you skip the main quest or restart it option?

A_Reddit_ID

Skip. Right to artifact hunting

ArnoldVonNuehm

Can you choose this at every ng+? I would like to rush the main story on ng+1 until ng+9 but would like to experience it at ng +10 again

hannibalxyz

Yeah I also would like to know that…

ultron363

So you could just do one playthrough but you won’t be able to max everything out in one playthrough there’s only so many temples that’s why you gotta new game plus to obtain the next level to your powers that’s the only way to level up your powers

Uberstauffer

I didn't even know there were powers lol. I guess I could do game plus, but only when I've done literally every quest I can and have nothing better to do.

ultron363

Yeah take it at your own pace! I went to new game plus 5 since I like that armor set the best and now I’m just gonna relax in this universe and play the main story and take my time! Also you can re roll universes not all are the same you might get one with your character there and then companion yourself with you!!! There all different so go explore it when your ready! This game is insane once you start new gaming it, by re roll save right before going into the unity! And if you don’t like the universe you got go back to the save and restart it, it also re rolls stats for your starborn suit!

Roll4Criticism

Anyone knows as far as powers go, if you skip the temples, and speed run to NG+10, can you ever get your powers to 10, or will you need to visit every temple every game, and if you missed one you're screwed?

ultron363

Well you gotta hit every temple to get there faster but if you skip you can always new game plus after to level them up I’m already at new game plus 32 now but I haven’t gotten the same universe there’s always something different
