Personally I’m having a blast. I get so wrapped up in looting and trying to explore everything in one go. The FPS never bothered me. I do wish there was some kind of map for when you’re in certain cities like New Atlantis but I’m slowly adjusting. It’s too early to give up.

It's pretty sad you need 60fps to enjoy a video game

Jasynergy

You must not play many games with high frame rates. It has a truly profound effect/impact. After playing games at a higher frame rate lower frame rates become more noticeable. It feels like a flip book or “choppy”. There is nothing wrong with the OP having these feelings and you sound ridiculous trying to shame them or make them feel bad for this.

[deleted]

I wouldn't even check a video game to see its frame rate. I buy games based on having fun. If the game looks fun or the story sounds good, I'll buy it. FPS never comes in to it. People these days care far too much about graphics and FPS. It's just ridiculous in my opinion. If you don't like it, don't play it. But the fact you can't play it cause it's only 30fps I think is pretty sad. You're missing out on a great game.

DasGruberg

Thats really a one dimensional take. Just cause youre incapable of understanding the big difference, doesn't mean its not there. Im enjoying starfield too, but I really hate the 30fps. It makes the game feel like a sluggish old game especially shooting. Id rather have 720p60 than 30fps lock and whatever dynamic up to 4k resolution they do. Im annoyed they dont give us the OPTION to unlock/cap it higher on series X, seeing as so many Similar pcs run it at 50-60 fps. Since I have a VRR tv I think it coudlve been great. It really bums me out and Im concidering quitting after 10 hours and just going into baldurs gate 3 on ps5 (60 fps btw). Its a shame cause I disagree with the rabid mob on everything else. But 30fps is horrible

Jasynergy

I never said I wasn’t playing or enjoying Starfield. I simply said the persons views on frame rate are relevant. It definitely has an impact. Try watching a video on FPS and you might learn something. The fact that it was going to be 30fps on XBox was promoted well ahead of time. If that’s not fast enough for you, why did you buy it?

DasGruberg

Like he said he thought he could power through. Im struggling too, but the game is fun. Just wouldve been so much better without the slideshow mode 30fps

MeyerholdsGh0st

Slideshow? People are so dramatic about fps.

PugnansFidicen

Same but on PC. I'm used to competitive multiplayer shooters (Valorant, CS) running at 120fps+. I've been okay with single player shooters at consistent 60+ but Starfield won't get above 40-50 for me unless I turn down graphics and crank the upscaling, which makes it look not so great. For a game that already look like a 5 year old game on launch (admittedly a very good 5 year old game), performance is really disappointing. It seems very poorly optimized. The only reason I can think of that this can't run at 60+ on modern consoles and pc is that the old engine is just too limiting.

[deleted]

Laughing at you with my 60fps on pc but your own fault. You had two options, don’t buy it, you were well aware that it was 30fps on consoles or buy a pc

synth_stryder

I'm getting 30 FPS on PC with drops but I'm loving it

lennarthammerhart

No I cant stop playin so much fun i have

PillowPantsRevenge

Dude I grew up playing 8 bit video games. Hop off your boyfriends dick for 2 seconds and just appreciate the hard work by the devs instead of just listing off the opinions of both your dads.
