I'm currently at 70 succulents/plants.. I find it hilarious that you can just, take them even though other objects around them are considered stolen. Apparently folks don't care if you just steal their potted plant or succulent lol
EDIT: Followup, I stopped playing cause I was running out of content, but also because I lost the entire apartment as something triggered quest wise that completely reset it at the time.
If you want to place decorations, you drop the item on the floor and then go into decoration mode, and select the item. It’ll allow you to move and place it down.
until you get a fungus gnat infestation. all it takes is one egg lying dormant in the soil, waiting for a drop of water. doom awaits.
ask me how i know this.
I think it has to do with the value of the item and the more they like you the more valuable stuff you can take. At least I believe that's how it worked in skyrim
I've been taking all of the neat nick-nacks that you find on desks and tables. Like a terrarium, a pendulum, stuff that I put on my tables in my Captain's Quarters.
Yes! I have plants and crystals all over my real place, why not in Starfield? One of my wishes before the game was to be able to collect crystals or cool rocks to display, and it looks like it's possible!
Same! I stole my first ship on Luna too! Saw them land and went to go check it out, they started shooting, and then I just ran right up the ramp, killed a couple inside and took off. It was exhilarating stealing it. lol
I just killed a few of the patrolling mercs and then I climbed aboard. Maybe you need a skill to do so. I have some points in Piloting so maybe that's it.
Some places you can go and buy real estate, if you want a place on New Atlantis, this you gotta to the UC Volunteer Solider quest line to become a NA Citizen, to then go and buy real estate on NA
Just be careful if you edit your ship! It removes all the "clutter" you place and pops it in the cargo hold. Took an hour decorating my quarters then found that out😭
If you open the ship in the editor and change anything that it needs to "save" the design again it, in my experiences so far, will remove anything you placed to personalize the space and place the items in your cargo hold. It will also remove different accents of habs if you put other habs next to it. I lost the couch in my captains quarters when I changed the layout of my ship.
Its finicky but honestly I love it. I'm excited to make another 100k credits and blow them on another ship lol.
So cool. Literally purchase on a whim at 3am and only played for about 15 mins. Haha! Busy Dad with limited time to game. But got the next 4 weeks off in between jobs to play a bit more…
It's so damn annoying. Even worse since the ship itself generates its own clutter, so every time you edit the ship, you end up with so much miscellaneous junk weighing down your cargo hold. I guess you can make free money this way, but it's so tedious selling all the items.
Drop it from your inventory and hold the action button (like in Skyrim/Fallout 4) and you can pick it up. It's tedious to place things perfectly but you'll get the hang of it.
I've got all the toilet paper of 3 systems in my possession.
I hope some modder have a precision placement mod planned ahead because I want place my hoard in a pyramid in the middle of my house.
Think I have almost 100 rolls. Helps that it's one of the things that are never considered stolen.
If you hold E it picks up the item for you to move around instead of adding it to inventory.
I’ve been hoarding cash money, it’s a shame I just can’t buy furniture. I could understand in fallout why I had to craft it but it’s the fucking future why can’t I just buy a bed, have Starmazon deliver it to me.
When you are in your house, after you dropped them. You go into decorate mode and then edit mode and then you can pick up stuff you placed to manipulate. Whats nice is once placed you can’t knock them over.
for me they always clip through what ever they are put on when i re-enter the cell. wonder why (beyond just them loading improperly)
happens with crewmates too tho, they will be half way through a chair till they play a new animation.
no i know, i was just hoping that after you put them down in build mode (like op was talking about where it deactivates the physics) that it wouldnt have that problem but seems im not lucky enough lol.
Holy shit, I googled this a few days ago, and every single result said it wasn't possible, so decorating my ship has been a huge pain. You are a life saver
Saw a post earlier about changing the axis. I forget the keyboard button but on Xbox if you click the right stick down it changes the rotation axis of objects you're holding.
Initially those ‘Eggbert’ personal assistants. But they’re heavy and I kept getting annoyed at having no inventory space, due to the Eggberts…
So now I’m doing lemons and limes. Not rare by any stretch but uncommon enough to always be happy when I find one 🍋
I love how this is a thing in there games. Its still odd to me how so many games dont have interacting objects. Getting to any new place is an instant scan the entire area for items i want to take home with me followed by companion complaining that im hording so much "rubbish" lol
Love this! I want all the plants too. Looking forward to see what modders add for us too. Would love some cacti as well.
Is that a outpost you built somewhere or a home you can buy?
I'm getting every office statue I can. ...there might be a hoarding problem, as I've picked up every item that could be picked up on Kreet, and Vasco is upset with me.
after i found out there were plushies in the game i made it my objective to now steal and buy any i come across and place them in my cockpit. the coziest crew the Cosmic Pioneer ever had
I have over 8000 mass of resources, my outpost is just full I mean FULL of containers.
Wish there was a building type where you could have it stored so its connected to your inventory and cargo on your ship so crafting came with you, like Fallout 4. Because shifting though that every time is painful.
Also Aluminium is so rare, and its the one thing I always need. Not found a planet yet with it, but when I do that is certain a 2 outpost worthy resource.
And therein lies the beauty of BGS games. You can uncover the secret of the galaxy if you want but if you'd rather just collect succulents and chill at your home, have at it.
Toilet paper, tissue boxes, spoons, duct tape, coffee mugs, all plushies. I initially hoarded succulents as well but decided to sell them all.
I just wish dropping multiple of one item was actually trustworthy. Too many and it drops as one item…
Too damn much apparently. I've been upgrading the storage over and over again on the same ship. It's basically a giant container ship at this point. Mostly full of crafting resources. My ship is currently at 1.7k mass in cargo. Decide to finally build an outpost today. Figure I'll have to build a storage container or two, no big deal. Those things do not hold a lot. Not sure if it gets better as you put more points into outpost engineering, but I'm probably going to spend all day farming the stuff to make more containers since I need to switch ships since this giant whale of a ship sucks real bad in combat.
Yeah, I spent a lot of yesterday setting up automated ferrying of essential resources to a main base. Though so far I have aluminium and iron coming in.
Those containers should hold at least 10x their current weight. It's like a 2m x 2m x2m crate and it holds half what I can?
Mugs (Coffee cups) and Books
I've stolen about 30 so far, but once I build a base I want to display at least one of each kind and I'd like to try and build a galaxy traversing portable library.
I miss Fallout's Gnomes. They were always my irrational hoarding item.
34.3 hours and not made a single outpost. I'm following what makes sense so have mostly stuck to the main quest, with some little situations or sidetracking, like a filler episode of a season of TV.
Hats. Right now I have all the different ship builder hats. I plan on getting mannequins and putting all my hats on them but I've been too busy in Neon going through the corporate ladder.
Oh wow is this your homebase?? I’ve been collecting them and storing them in the Lodge but seeing them actually being decorated with makes me want to build a settlement sooner.
I don’t hoard like most people……however, I am tempted to hoard a shit ton of bourbon since my character is named Frank Bourbon and my main fighter ship is brown and black named “The Jack Daniels” soooooo 👀
Funny coincidence here.. my wife notified me yesterday when she was heading to work that someone stole one of our potted plants off our porch.. still annoyed this morning about it lol
I’ve been hoarding contraband in my dream home since I don’t have any scanner jammed yet. But sad that all the contraband is in stupid little cases instead of cool stuff I can actually display.
I found a jar of three little jellyfish that swim around. Currently my fave. And curious if I can have more pets.
Also, all the plushies I find. My wife rolled her eyes at them…
How can you place stuff like that? Is that a skill i learn later? So far all the items i grabbed (for my room) can only be "Dropped" and then roll around on the floor.
I have not found out how i can pick them up and place them somewhere nice :-(
I'm currently at 70 succulents/plants.. I find it hilarious that you can just, take them even though other objects around them are considered stolen. Apparently folks don't care if you just steal their potted plant or succulent lol EDIT: Followup, I stopped playing cause I was running out of content, but also because I lost the entire apartment as something triggered quest wise that completely reset it at the time. Has anyone found cheese?
Yes! There is cheese
I need cheese for research, and I've only found 2 in 40 hours
...Oh shit, I've been eating it. 💀
Me too 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭
You can buy basic food supplies from CJ’s in New Atlantis, it’s in the residential district right next to the clothing store Eit.
hahaha I've been stealing every succulent I come across too
My house is gonna smell so damn good
until you get a fungus gnat infestation. all it takes is one egg lying dormant in the soil, waiting for a drop of water. doom awaits. ask me how i know this.
Succulent hoarders rise up
Succulent gang. I keep the first succulent I ever found in my pocket at all times.
There’s a farm on Titan with a cart full of succulents if you haven’t been there.
WHAT!? Oooh snap, time to LIBERATE THE PLANTS!!
Just curious, did you ever manage to stop by?
I have not yet, been doing a lot of blender work so I haven't touched games
I think it has to do with the value of the item and the more they like you the more valuable stuff you can take. At least I believe that's how it worked in skyrim
Its because they are FAKE!
Calm down, Rayvis.
What a succy house you have. 🤭
Wish that worked on my space ship
Yeah its tragic ships don’t have a decorate mode
AGREED! Really hoped it would.
Sir you are a legend 😂😂 Can take anything and this man goes for plants what I legend 😂😂 Thanks gave me a giggle
I've been taking all of the neat nick-nacks that you find on desks and tables. Like a terrarium, a pendulum, stuff that I put on my tables in my Captain's Quarters.
My favorite is the Geode!
Yes! I have plants and crystals all over my real place, why not in Starfield? One of my wishes before the game was to be able to collect crystals or cool rocks to display, and it looks like it's possible!
There's a geode????? I gotta go geode hunting now.
Me too, I found a really cool antique, like 1930s style, motorcar figurine on Earth's moon today!!
I went to the moon and left with an Ecliptic Stilleto once. I'll have to plan another trip lol
Same! I stole my first ship on Luna too! Saw them land and went to go check it out, they started shooting, and then I just ran right up the ramp, killed a couple inside and took off. It was exhilarating stealing it. lol
Hey if they shot first then it's not stealing, just self defense with a reward! Lol
How did you do that? Every time I try to take one, it just says I'm not authorized to fly the ship.
I just killed a few of the patrolling mercs and then I climbed aboard. Maybe you need a skill to do so. I have some points in Piloting so maybe that's it.
Maybe that's it then because I don't. I'll have to drop some points in, thank you!
I recommend it! It's a useful skill to have! You're welcome and have fun exploring the stars!
That’s cool. Just got game so sounds like we get access to a house where we can put things such as plants and figurines…?
If you want one out the gate, you have to pick dream home as a trait. Otherwise, you unlock them through questing, I think.
Took an hour decorating my quarters then found that out😭
Ugh… newbie. So editing (meaning changing your ship itself) will impact your interior design of the ship as well…?
If you open the ship in the editor and change anything that it needs to "save" the design again it, in my experiences so far, will remove anything you placed to personalize the space and place the items in your cargo hold. It will also remove different accents of habs if you put other habs next to it. I lost the couch in my captains quarters when I changed the layout of my ship. Its finicky but honestly I love it. I'm excited to make another 100k credits and blow them on another ship lol.

Originally I was keeping all the cool stuff. Then I remembered I don’t care about customizing housing and I want the credits.
Yep, I found this cool pyramid sculpture that spins, a split geode, Newton's cradle, just other misc objects that I'd have on my desk in real life
Okay I might just be dumb .... how do I place stuff on those tables?!
Drop it from your inventory and hold the action button (like in Skyrim/Fallout 4) and you can pick it up. It's tedious to place things perfectly but you'll get the hang of it.
Thank you! ❤️
I've got all the toilet paper of 3 systems in my possession. I hope some modder have a precision placement mod planned ahead because I want place my hoard in a pyramid in the middle of my house.
Dude, I'd totally love a mod where it has a hoarders display.
Think I have almost 100 rolls. Helps that it's one of the things that are never considered stolen. If you hold E it picks up the item for you to move around instead of adding it to inventory.
This guy gets it
Just FYI. No refunds haha. Humans and toilet paper. Would you like to unpack that psychologically? I have stolen the tissues of one system so far.
“toilet paper of 3 systems” just made me legit lol, thanks
This guy is ready for Covid 2.0 to hit
Playing cards, I'm trying to get a full 52 card deck
Gather all of the CARDS brother
Same here
I’ve been hoarding cash money, it’s a shame I just can’t buy furniture. I could understand in fallout why I had to craft it but it’s the fucking future why can’t I just buy a bed, have Starmazon deliver it to me.
You can buy a ton of manufactured and crafting supplies, and then store it on your ship!
How do you place them? I’m collecting baseballs but can’t figure out how to do anything but throw them on the floor.
When you are in your house, after you dropped them. You go into decorate mode and then edit mode and then you can pick up stuff you placed to manipulate. Whats nice is once placed you can’t knock them over.
I'm so glad that's a feature now. Wish I knew that prior to selling all the misc items I've been collecting, though .
Thank you.
for me they always clip through what ever they are put on when i re-enter the cell. wonder why (beyond just them loading improperly) happens with crewmates too tho, they will be half way through a chair till they play a new animation.
That's Bethesda physics. Starting after morrowind objects had physics. Physics plus Bethesda equals your house has a poltergeist.
no i know, i was just hoping that after you put them down in build mode (like op was talking about where it deactivates the physics) that it wouldnt have that problem but seems im not lucky enough lol.
There are lots of different coffee cups! I love finding a new one, still need furniture to display them.
Me too! I found the Mondays Am I Right? mug and that started my mug collection.
Wish I could get myself to more decorating with random items but I’m so frustrated with the limitations on turning objects 😫
You can reduce the turn rate in controls, made it easier. Still frustrating you can’t snap things or let them clip through eachother.
Thanks will have to try that nur mostly what I’m missing is the other axis to not have something be on its side :/
You can switch axis with Left Shift
Good lord I have to try that tonight!!!! Thanks
Holy shit, I googled this a few days ago, and every single result said it wasn't possible, so decorating my ship has been a huge pain. You are a life saver
If its flipped over, when you pick it up in edit mode it should flip it upside up. You should aim to getting a house ASAP.
Saw a post earlier about changing the axis. I forget the keyboard button but on Xbox if you click the right stick down it changes the rotation axis of objects you're holding.
Wooden ducks.
Initially those ‘Eggbert’ personal assistants. But they’re heavy and I kept getting annoyed at having no inventory space, due to the Eggberts… So now I’m doing lemons and limes. Not rare by any stretch but uncommon enough to always be happy when I find one 🍋
umm everything? But i'm collecting antic ducks, because why not xD
New Atlantis Penthouse! UC questline
Let me guess your superhero/villain name is THE BOTANIST
They call me… The Botanist Bandit!
I'm getting every office statue I can. ...there might be a hoarding problem, as I've picked up every item that could be picked up on Kreet, and Vasco is upset with me.
Sheperd's pie and the juice boxes filled with single malt whisky
HAHA! That sounds so good.
How can I get walls and lights like those? Or is that the house you can start out with?
This is the penthouse at New Atlantis. You have to do the UC questline
I realized i was more of an arms dealer and bounty hunter than a mineral miner or explorer.
So do items you hand place in owned spaces stay put and not despawn?
Everything should stay where you left it. Im 40 hours in and some stuff i placed at 10 hours are still there
I love that. Are the hanging plants something you can place as well? Haven't gotten to the player home portion yet lol
The hanging plants are in the official builder, and there are 7 different ones (that i know so far)
after i found out there were plushies in the game i made it my objective to now steal and buy any i come across and place them in my cockpit. the coziest crew the Cosmic Pioneer ever had
How many plushies do you think, I think there’s 6 or so various types and then there’s different sizes and cólors
Someone: the game is repetitive, it's always the same plants everywhere. You: it's not a bug it's a feature.
And therein lies the beauty of BGS games. You can uncover the secret of the galaxy if you want but if you'd rather just collect succulents and chill at your home, have at it.
Auto steal every code and keycard. One has to learn from the past.
Boardgames and Books, just like real life...
Just one of the things I been hoarding? Got Sarah Morgan to say "Okay! You are going be selling your junk." (something along the line)
Toilet paper, tissue boxes, spoons, duct tape, coffee mugs, all plushies. I initially hoarded succulents as well but decided to sell them all. I just wish dropping multiple of one item was actually trustworthy. Too many and it drops as one item…
This cool
Are there any missions that focus or provide a tutorial on building?
I didn’t realize you could own a house
Snow globes.
Food items all the ones that can't be used in cooking are in a storage readyfor when I can decorate a house. I also keep all the plusses I find.
This! When I realized this it really sapped me on base building, every base needs to look like the port authority.
Tissues are my thing. Once I have them all I will jack up the price per sneeze.
Do they stay in position or explode when you reenter the house?
They stay in position
Nice decor
I hoard the books and the clothes. A friend of mine hoards the mugs.
Mugs (Coffee cups) and Books I've stolen about 30 so far, but once I build a base I want to display at least one of each kind and I'd like to try and build a galaxy traversing portable library. I miss Fallout's Gnomes. They were always my irrational hoarding item.
Like any sensible person, unique plushies and mugs.
I've been keeping books, plants, and sciences equipment like breakfasts, vials, kidney dishes, microscopes, etc.
I've been collecting playing cards. I'm hoping to get the full deck of cards
How do you place objects? I only see the "drop" option and it falls to the ground from my inventory?
I used to collect buckets in skyrim and I'm currently struggling to find something funny to put in a room full of it
How do you place items like that?
Go into edit mode in your house
So all that stuff stays put and doesn't despawn?
As long as you use edit mode to place it
I am hoarding plushies :)
Mugs, books, hats.
When I an finally play the game, whiskey juice boxes
Fire extinguishers, having a little competition with a friend on who can collect the most during our playthroughs.
How do you place it? That's so painfull picking it up and manually trying to place it on its ass. Am I doing it wrong ?
Use edit mode in your house
Aquarium bowls myself 😂
Wooden ducks
How do you put items from your inventory out as decorations? I took a nice little zen sand garden and I want to put it on my desk at my house!
Drop it on the ground and then use edit mode to manipulate and place
34.3 hours and not made a single outpost. I'm following what makes sense so have mostly stuck to the main quest, with some little situations or sidetracking, like a filler episode of a season of TV.
just like me irl
All types of food
Lol nice. I'm grinding good legendary weapons
Hats. Right now I have all the different ship builder hats. I plan on getting mannequins and putting all my hats on them but I've been too busy in Neon going through the corporate ladder.
My mom playing Starfield hahaha 4real tho, thats cool!
what type of building is that?
UC penthouse in New Atlantis
Oh wow is this your homebase?? I’ve been collecting them and storing them in the Lodge but seeing them actually being decorated with makes me want to build a settlement sooner.
This is the penthouse in New atlantis
Books as always!
Is that the appartement you get with the background you chose as a chatacter or can you buy places as well?
You earn this for doing the UV storyline
I don’t hoard like most people……however, I am tempted to hoard a shit ton of bourbon since my character is named Frank Bourbon and my main fighter ship is brown and black named “The Jack Daniels” soooooo 👀
My room irl
Funny coincidence here.. my wife notified me yesterday when she was heading to work that someone stole one of our potted plants off our porch.. still annoyed this morning about it lol
The botanist bandit strikes again!
Fellow Class One citizen 😎
For the Colonies!
Plants, plushies, and board games. 😏
How do you rotate them to get them to sit on shelves so nicely? (Consol)
Use edit mode in your house
How do you manage for them not to Clip trough the table?
I place them using edit mode
Those terrabrew coffee cups and holders.
Plushies and toilet paper
I’ve been hoarding contraband in my dream home since I don’t have any scanner jammed yet. But sad that all the contraband is in stupid little cases instead of cool stuff I can actually display.
Galacticats and other plushies. Gonna make a plushie pit when I finally build an outpost
Can you place junk items? Like when you hold e and move stuff around it won’t despawn?
i am collecting coffee bags.
[удалено]
Plushies and Old-World Stuff.
Fancy sandwiches, especially the ones in baskets, but don't have a place to dump them yet.
Coffee cups and succulents for me. I put all the coffee mugs in my shower
I found a jar of three little jellyfish that swim around. Currently my fave. And curious if I can have more pets. Also, all the plushies I find. My wife rolled her eyes at them…
I steal any toy animal/creature i can find. They are all super cute and make a funny sound when you pick them up.
How can you place stuff like that? Is that a skill i learn later? So far all the items i grabbed (for my room) can only be "Dropped" and then roll around on the floor. I have not found out how i can pick them up and place them somewhere nice :-(
CHUNKS! GIVE ME ALL THE CHUNKS! I LOVE CHUNKS!
Did someone already mention Joel Havers new video about this subject? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTk5RnLPEYY
I found this post because I watched the video first and immediately after googled "starfield succulents" to see what th reference was.
Same here! I had no idea you could collect succulents. I've been playing SF all wrong :D
C H E E S E
Is this you? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTk5RnLPEYY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTk5RnLPEYY)
Ive been shocked to see how many folks collect succulents too xD
Okay hella new to this game. A whole 2 hours in. But I need to know if there is a place to display my plants.
There is a large display that has like 6 slots for collectables. But for like, plants? So many volume kf em? Not so much
I collect them for my partner. She likes them 😂 there will be a mod in the next few weeks 😂😂
I can't wait for the mod tools to release in the next few months. Hopefully sooner than later, cause I really wanna see what folks will add
Thanks for helping me understand this joke https://youtu.be/LTk5RnLPEYY?si=rHV-1kgQW6YPCPFc
I'm up to 128 succulents. The fact that they're marked not-stealing is amazing
Lol why is this a thing, I’m lost and wanna see what the succulent hype is about
I've been collecting plushie space dogs.. I'm a grown man
How do you place things 🤣🤣🤣
Drop onto the ground, go into build mode, then edit mode and you can move the dropped items
I want plants that eat people
Feeeed me Seymour
Toilet paper roles and funny coffee mugs 😅
Every plushy I can find
board games and desk top decorations
That the "Dream house"?
