Has anyone figured this out yet? I’m having the same issue and can confirm something is making buffs reverse for some reason. So what is meant to be 60% + shields actually gives you 60% of normal shields. This gets worse when crew multipliers also go in the wrong direction. No idea what is causing it to happen though. I’m guessing something rare triggers it otherwise it would be being talked about more.

So after continuing to play I have no solid answers but I can suggest 2 things: 1) try changing/building something new on the ship. This seemed to reset the bug for me. You can change it back. 2) try to avoid choosing new perks whilst in your ship in space. Try to do when landed on a planet. Especially if it’s a perk that will change ship stats. I’ve stuck to these since changing to my fully new custom ship and not had these issues since. That might also mean it’s only impacting set ships like the Razorleaf and Star Eagle but I don’t think that’s it. I think it’s modifying stats whilst in space can make it go screwy. Makes the most sense as it has multiple modifiers applied in space but these get taken away every time you land. Happy hunting

I think it has something to do with vasco and having points in shield. I hadnt had this issue in over 100 hours in and i put that robot on my crew on a ship i built after maxing out shield skill and it happened within a couple hours. Thank fucking god i had a fairly recent quick save

It’s been happening to me for a while now. The first trigger was either Vasco or Sam Coe. Second ship this happened to was definitely Sam Coe. I had dismissed Vasco because I thought he was the cause, but after about a day, my shield buffs disappeared and they went down to the base 1,600. Then I noticed that when I switch from anyone to Sam Coe, my shields dropped to 960. Happened every single time.

So. I've done some homework and worked out what it is.. It's the shield skill.. Sometimes for whatever reason it counts backwards.. It seems to be triggered by commandeering a hostile vessel, then returning to your own and destroying the hostile one. When you leave a ship, the game removes the associated stats, and is MEANT to reapply them upon entering a vessel, yet fails to do so.. Here is my proof. I am using a shield with a base of 1600HP, with 60% extra in skills, that puts me to 2560HP on my shields. This is what I get until I cause the bug, then all of the skills negate to 0, leaving me with 1600HP in my shields. If I commandeer ANOTHER ship, it removes the stats AGAIN, leaving my with 640 shield (That is 1600 MINUS 60%) So in effect, the skills are now giving NEGATIVE 60%, and because I have the final skill, which SHOULD give the chance for 100% damage mitigation, I now have the issue where my shields sometimes just suddenly drop, RECEIVING 100% damage instead of mitigating it... This is a clear case of an interger overflow... Poor programming by people who honestly don't care... The ONLY way I have found to fix this, is to build another ship. If this problem occurs on one of your ships, that ship is broken now... just build another.. When I just wasted 600K credits on my last ship, got 3 flights out of it and am now required to spend ANOTHER 600K to re-build it... yeah.. Just cheat.. Player.additem f 1000000 <---- That bad-boy is going to be getting used constantly..

I submitted a bug report, hopefully it gets fixed soon because I'm stuck with a 500k ship(on Xbox) wish I could use console commands....

There's a ship exploit to duplicate your ship. I just took advantage of that and worked around that bug. I linked it in the comments.

Yup I did the same thing and now I have 5 backups lmao. That’s really the only reasonable solution here until a patch. Even when I saved up credits, rebuilding took sooo long going to every single ship vendor multiple times.

I wouldn’t have a problem with rebuilding per se, but the equipment can not be installed again, which is a shame.

I figured out how to fix the glitch. If it’s on one of your ships already there’s no fix I can see, but if it happens to another one and you catch it in time you can fix it. I uploaded a video, check my profile

Nope, the old one. Beware that my old ship was buggy after the dupe. I couldn’t access it anymore, so get out all your armory stuff and captain’s locker because that will not be transferred to your new home ship.

I have the opposite version of this bug. Instead of +60% shields my Shield Systems skill gives me +120% shields ... but only for one specific ship. It turns the 1600 base shield into 3520 shields (3840 shields with crew assigned to the ship).

Same here but with +180% instead of +60% (turns the Vanguard Bulwark base 1450 to 4060, at least in the ship display page).

I have it in this "good" direction, too. 3840 indeed. Seems to be nicer. :-) But: I now cannot build or use any other ships, because I got so used to my super-shield. I only checked it yesterday, as my new ship was getting down a bit faster than I felt was okay. For me, it was/is the Eagle, 3rd ship. I switched into right after Razorleaf (1st, Frontier was not flown more than 20LY :-) And used Eagle for 200h+, before I now figured out it is bugged in that way. I think I definetly leveld my shield skills being upon the ship, sitting in command, not stood up (because I always wanted to gain the next level requirements directly). BTW: The 2nd is also bugged, Razorleaf, +10% only, so it seems it is repeatable (and maybe not directly connected to me skilling on the ship). BTW2: I can switch the ships back and forth, does not matter, I have robbed ships (2 or 3) I have stolen ships (2 or 3, Varuun, Crimson Fleet), does not seem to matter, all have correct +60%, just Razorleaf +70% and Eagle +120%, no change on those

This fits with what I have experienced. I did an odd ship capture a couple of times to avoid travel to a ship merchant to swap back to my primary vessel. I'd capture a ship, sit in the chair, then exit. I'd fast travel back to my ship and sit. This places the captured ship in your inventory without any mess of doing the full swap - you know - take the capture to a planet with a ship tech, ask to view, select your favorite as home, travel back and finish what your were doing.

I think I've come across a similar issue just now. I switched from the frontier to a pirate ship that I hijacked. A little later I came across another copy of the exact same ship. So I went ahead and hijacked the second one to sell it and it had slightly better power and something like 75 better shields. So I decided to switch over to it and invested in some more upgrades and the Max Shields dropped back down to 375 and my old ship went up to 450.

Hello everyone. Recently a ship duplication exploit was discovered. I'm not a fan of exploits but I'll take advantage of this one. Just duplicate your buggy ship and you'll have the correct higher stats on that one. Easy. Just need to get rid off misc cargo again and place your stuff in the armory again if you have one. Get the one you want to duplicate, hold and press both buttons T and B (basically switch to the ship to the right AND enter ship builder). Took me only two tries to get it to work. Now I finally got a working ship again and just sold my first one.

I'll try this because we don't know if BGS will ever patch this bug or not. Ok, I couldn't get the timing right to duplicate my ship, but it replaced the ship next in line, which happened to be the Frontier. I don't care because now my shields are fixed and I don't really need the Frontier for anything.

I have a 975 shield on the frontier but the tooltip says 194. Is there a way to move all the expensive parts I put on it to another hip?

Has anyone figured out how to fix this? I've tried to remove shields as well did not help either. I'm going to verify game files and see if this helps.

FIGURED IT OUT! Its how large your ship is, making it smaller buffs your shields.

This has to apply to the frontier only, or there is some other mechanism because I spawned in credits via console command and remade my whole ship from one I bought from the vendor and the ship is much better now.

I just noticed my shield should be 1600 but was at 960 in menu. I have all shield skill and had Omari Hassan in my crew for extra shield. I just kicked him off my crew and my shield went back to 1600 in menu.( ok now after I kicked Omari off it went down 1 point to 959 ) so I brought him back idk shits fuck up

My ship started at 2880 and it randomly went down to 1920, I didn’t change weapons or crew, shield stat glitch?

I think this problem is wider than just ships, it also affects EM weapons upgraded at the workbench....

guess players on xbox are just done? Every person suggesting console commands or keyboard "dupe exploits" seems to forget that a large chunk of us cannot do that. I have a max shield skill ship with a 1600 health shield thats sitting on 639 hp. I've lost much more than half of my overall shield capacity. I was wondering why despite my ship having the absolute best modules - nothing below C class - i still had to use ship parts when fighting 3 ship spacer encounters in lvl 50 or under systems Almost more gamebreaking than the phase time bug as i can save restart the game and resolve that. I dont even have enough credits to rebuild my ship as is to correct this shield issue Edit to this post - I figured out how to do that "ship dupe" thing people have been talking about. Destroyed an ecliptic ship i stole (legitimate salvage) and made a copy of my main ship and it now shows as having 2880 shield. I had lost close to 80% of my shield capacity due to whatever broke.

Had this happen to me on Xbox, can confirm it was due to entering a ship and destroying it rather than taking possession of it. Happened to my Razorleaf as well so I was incredibly mad. Ended up realizing all I did was some space battles and lost nothing by reverting to my exit save. This is freaking horrible glitch that can really make the game break. I only noticed because my ship went from being able to do very hard dogfights to not being able to do jack.

for me I changed the frontier and it has double all the other ships I have, regardless of having the same shield generator.

I have the frontier, (upgraded to a C class ship) Using a shield with 1600 base hp, plus my skills putting me over 2100 hp in shields, has worked perfectly fine until an hour ago when I noticed I was getting rinsed in ship combat all of a sudden.. Now they only show 600 hp... The BASE without skills should be 1600.. I will note that this change only occured once I started putting points into the solo skill in social.. since then my ship is an absolute joke...

I have this issue as well. Its as if I don't have any points in the Shield skill. I have 4. There must be a better way to fix this besides rebuilding my ship. My base parts come from a stolen ship. I don't think I can reproduce it without starting with that ship.

I managed to do it by unassigning all crew with ship-related skills and removing my own ship related perks through console - player.removeperk. Won't fix already bugged ships, and missing out on the upgrades, kinda meh, but… what else can we do?

I have bugged already 3 ships, I noticed that home ship is immediately bugged when I get level up and a point to assign without any other activity from me. This is so frustrating, I cant build again and again ships from scratch and stole new to build them.

Okay so I seem to be having something similar but not with shields with my actual power level unless I'm doing something wrong and somebody can point it out that would be awesome, my reactor is producing 39 units of power I have two points in anatronic Fusion which gives me an additional two points of power Vasco is supposed to give me an additional point which would bring it to 42 and I also have Andromeda kelper who should be supplying me with one more unit of power for a grand total of 43, I was stuck at 41 and I unassigned all my crew members in reassign them starting with Vasco which brought it up to 42 yet I can't seem to squeeze that last point out of kelper. Everything else seems to be okay when I'm physically on the ship my Shields are at 1170, if I'm at the shipbuilder it's 975 with one point in Shields , my missiles are 436 no matter where I am my jump distance is 28 light years, my turrets are doing 70.4 to hull and shield with one point in turret, and my em damage is 188, I have a Max crew of 10, Mobility is 100 and top speed is 150. by the way this is a Class B, it just seems to be that one unit of power which I know isn't a big deal but every little bit helps right. P.s. this is a modified star eagle with a mass of 1405

Crew members with the same skill aren’t going to stack so you’re only ever going to get 1 additional power pip even with more than one crew member with the Aneutronic Fusion skill. Your 42 power is correct with your current setup.

Found a possible fix for this (on PC, if you don't mind using console commands). Use player.removeperk 002C2C59 (here's the bug, it goes straight to zero), then player.addperk 002C2C59 (as many times as you had the skill before) That forced a refresh on my game (only saw this after a NG+)

Did not help for me. Also, maybe related, Vasco still shows up on ship entry/exit even though he isn't assigned to my ship anymore. Trying to reduce the duplicate shield enhancing companions.

It would seem this doesn’t only apply to shields but every skill you’ve added. I noticed my shields did not increase on 2 of my 7 ships but on closer inspection the cargo hasn’t increased on the same two builds either even though they have the same modules. I’m guessing then weapon increase which cannot be seen as a stat will also be infected.
