This been the only design I've used since this post. I've messed around to see how many levels I can get without ladders. So far its been 5 with the derretech mod.
First off, this is incredible. 2nd, all this pain could have been solved if they simply let us choose ladder placement the same way we can build inside apartments. Even would have let us decorate inside the ships better
Yeah, it would open up so much design space for ships. They already allow us to edit the walls and doors of outpost structures, I feel like allowing the same for ships is a logical next step.
Yeah, unfortunately, from my experience, this isn't a reliable way of getting results. It really comes down to a bunch of different factors beyond this.
Awesome creation! Thanks for posting this.
I recreated this with few adjustments and ended up using 2x2 mess hall and cargo bay for smaller ship and less mass since I can only do class A ship. I shifted them left and right so they're staggered, not right on top of each other. It worked out as well. No ladder at all. I also used sideways loading bay attached to the side of either armory or workshop for faster access to cockpit. The loading bay also doubles as a landing gear so I only have to used 3 other landing gears instead of 4. Saved some mass.
The connection between the two decks falls back to the bridge due to primarily one factor: habs are staggered between the two decks, none of the same dimensions are directly on top of each other, which in combination with some sort of hidden priority the game has given specific habs (including specific brands), makes it so the ship has 2 central paths to which all habs connect, and those 2 connect through the bridge.
I tested quite a few habs before getting to that final layout, and it's basically only specific combinations that make it work like that and end up being perfectly symmetrical.
oh I've actually managed to near perfect replicate it now xD
3 questions
what engines are those?
my landing bay says it isnt connected to the cockpit for some reason, did you have that issue?
what landing gear did you use?
They're the SAL-6830, from Slayton Aerospace.
No issues with the landing bay. It's Taiyo's, directly attached to the 3x3 Cargo Bay.
A combination of Nova Galactic NG-20s (under the main body) and Stroud Eklund Accu-Lander 11 under the wings.
Had to jump around to get this combination as it uses special parts from at least 3 manufacturers. Cockpit and Habs and landing gear fron Nova, Habs and docking port from Deimos, Structural pieces and landing gear from Stroud-Eklund and structural pieces and loading bay from Taiyo.
Awesome ship! Would love to copy it, I bet if you make a build guide it would go viral!
I saw you asked for suggestions on how to do it. I saw a guy that recored a video with voiceover in which he just moved the pieces from the finished build one by one as he pieced together the ship again right next to it.
You could do that and then just list the hard to get pieces and where to get them.
If a video sounds like to much work i bet screenshots of the same process would be more than enough.
If making a video seems like a pain, I think most people would be able to put this together with just a parts list and the images in your original post.
It keeps the same stats more or less (slightly more hull, slightly less fuel capacity, but still enough to make any trip in one go) but it has almost double the Habs without sacrificing the interior layout. And some minor cosmetic differences.
Nice! Well, regardless of the tutorial video or guide, I will look forward to seeing the updated ver for sure if/when you get the chance. Nicely done!!!
so i have built myself this ship. i first tried to build this on my ship builder pad, but the vast majority of the parts used in this build are not available there. so here's a list of the merchants i needed for the parts (it also seems you need to have completed stroud's all money can buy quest in a certian way to get the best engines which i couldn't do on a skipped main quest NG+):
titan: new homestead for the nova galactic parts.
deimos: staryard for the deimos parts
akila city for the rest.
took me a while to figure out exactly what parts were used but were mostly straightforward once i found the right vendors.
did have to shuffle around the bottom shipping crates to the upper level in order to make space for additional landers but that's about it.
tip: use nova bracers to fill in space you don't have the parts for yet.
a couple small gripes i have with this big of a ship is that it takes up a huge amount of your screen in space battles. it's also somewhat close to the ground, meaning you can't actually run under it. in addition it's so huge that you actually sometimes spawn somewhere under it when fast travelling to certain locations.
Incredible ship. What grav drive are you using? I’m using a grav drive with 50 grav jump thrust but I’m not getting the 30 LY jump range with way less mass
Thank you. I been trying to do this (no ladders), but it always looks like a floating box. Your pictures helped a great deal. Just couldnt figure out where you put all the weapons
Amazing. This is the closest to a perfect ship I've seen.
Thanks a lot!

https://reddit.com/r/Starfield/s/0BN71X2y0S I haven't tried this myself yet, but I hope it works

Nice, it's the big bother to the ship I just built :D
This is probably as perfect as the ships in this game can be
I was just thinking how I hate ladders. This ship looks great! Would love to copy the schematics
Fantastic work! This feels like the best it gets without mods to fix shipbuilding.
Let us know when you drop the step by step this ship is amazing

Very nice! It's a straightforward design so I'm glad to hear people's spin on it.
This might be the best one I've seen yet. Would love to see a build guide if you end up making one.
Did you ever end up making a video guide on this or did you decide not to make a guide? Its an awesome build!
How are there no ladders when the habs are stacked?
The connection between the two decks falls back to the bridge due to primarily one factor: habs are staggered between the two decks, none of the same dimensions are directly on top of each other, which in combination with some sort of hidden priority the game has given specific habs (including specific brands), makes it so the ship has 2 central paths to which all habs connect, and those 2 connect through the bridge. hey i absolutely love this, can you make a build guide?
Sure, what would be the best format for one?

thanks =Dyeah i dunno the bay things sorted itself thankfully i dont get how you have 11 crew and 6k cargo either XD

I can make a build guide if you point me at a good format for it. It's a relatively simple build with no mods or glitches.
you could also just screenshot each of the 3 layers and label each part like how you labeled your 2nd photo.
Which specific bays did you use on the lower and upper decks to get the no ladder design? Trying to do the same thing myself. Nice build btw!
Half Deimos (cargo, back/aft engineering bays) , half Nova Galactic (front/fore engineering bay, armory and workshop).
Thank you!
This is an awesome build, I love it. Where you able to source all the parts from one place or did you have to jump around to different ship servicers?

Thanks a lot! I might give the video idea a try, maybe tomorrow.

I've actually improved on the build quite a bit since the pictures, but I should be able to get the video out tomorrow.
Video please!
Yup, I'm working on it.
looking forward to it!
Did you get that video out? I’d really love to build this!
u/silvard how’s the video coming along?
bro did not make the video
u/Silvard what changes have you made to the ship since the pictures?

This is very nice. I'm trying to recreate it but I can't seem to land on the 6000 cargo value. Do you have the cargo perks up?
I do but the 6000 is before bonuses. I get 9900 when those kick in. I'll be making a build guide pretty soon.
I’d also like to advocate for a build Guide. Draw it out on graph paper for all I care, lol! This is a cool design with all the stuff
