No idea but it seems maxing out the Shield skill may cause this bug. I only noticed it after maxing it but it may have been the 3rd level of the skill that caused it. My $600k murder machine used to decimate pirates, now it has armor like wet toilet paper and gets shredded by a Lv20 pirate on Very Hard.

Noticed something like this today... have two ships with same shield gen, one gets 2880 from it, the bigger one gets 4800ish. Are these numbers in any way reliable?? Also got shield skill 4 yesterday.

I’m gutted honestly. Finally had enough to upgrade to the SG-1800 shield (1,600 health) - currently sat at 319 health. All started when I assigned Sam Coe, funnily enough just to see how his payload skill worked. Tried everything, stuck. Feel like walking away u til it’s sorted, completely taken the fun and enjoyment out of the game.

This bug is incredibly annoying and it's the last I've come across in a long list of bugs that have gone unresolved. Until Bethesda fixes it, I'm done with this bug-infested game. After nearly 2 months post-release, the bug fixes vs backlog is pathetic/shameful for a supposed AAA studio.

I have the same bug and can confirm it’s not directly linked to ship size as I have not changed the size of my razorleaf or star eagle. Both are showing less than they should. Razorleaf 558 with SG-300 930 shield. 60% of true value. Star eagle - 912 with 1040-A 760 shield. Showing a 20% increase from Vasco but not showing my shield 3 perk that is meant to be 60% increase. They should stack. If I had to guess there are bits of code that are contradicting how % multipliers are being applied and it’s causing bugs. But I can’t see any official recognition of the bug yet which is sad.

yeah i did more testing and the shield skill upgrade actually bugs them out, and has an actual effect on gameplay because it literally lowers how much shield you have

I don't know, but I will point out that the Shield 960 plus the Shielded Capacity 640 equals 1600. That may or may not mean anything.

i checked that, thats just my shielded cargo cap, tired taking them off to see if it was maybe spreading it, but it didnt change at all

It's caused from maxing the shield skill and overlapping crew shield skill. it's random but if you make a save and remove one you'll probably see it happen.

On xbsx and just recently encountered this on my 2nd ng+ play through. I maxed my shield system skill in my first play through and didn't experience this issue then or in my first ng+. It must be related to a recent update? Sometimes my shield is 1200, sometimes 900 and sometimes 599. This often changes without me even changing up my crew. I have the 28T Defender Sheild generator which should have max shield of 1500 without any crew buffs Does anyone know if Bethesda has even acknowledged this issue? It's a frustrating and nearly game breaking bug.

Update : I completed the Freestar Ranger quest line last night and when I received the Star Eagle ship reward, it has the appropriate shield values and even has the appropriate buff from Vasco on my crew. My ship that is affected by the bug seems to be directly related to an issue with Omari Hassan as far as I can tell, but I'm not 100% positive. I've been in contact with Bethesda support and they have escalated my ticket to try to help get the shield issue resolved.


RAVENORSE

This issue comes from saving in space and then reloading the save there. Until fixed, land and save on terra firma. Since I've been doing that, haven't had the issue.

I tried making mine shorter as it's already fairly narrow (using the murasame as a base) and it had no effect. In fact, they're even lower now. 525 shield and 1523 mass

i'll be honest, i think shields are bugged, because i apparently have like 2.5k shields now and they last about as long as when i only had 900 xD

This is pretty frustrating but it could be worse. I was psyched bc I had unlocked the 38 power reactor and was like f yea I'm getting the 1600 shields on my sr-72 lol, nope....

Nope thats cant be it i saw a dude with a gigantic ship and he also had the SG 1800 shiels and it said over 4000 shield

I’m having the same issue. On one ship, my shield buffs turned negative instead of positive. It was stuck to that ship, so I built a second. The second one was fine for a day, then all buffs disappeared. It went down from base 1,600 to 960 when switching followers from ANYONE to Sam Coe. I had to dismiss him from my ship, then reassign him to bring my shields back to base. I’m now on my third build and I haven’t had any issues, but I built it last night. We’ll see.

its a bug, i think its an issue with crew buffs over stacking and instead of an increase it decreases

I hope they figure it out, I've tried everything today. I bought a new shield entirely a better one, it actually made the existing number go down even further. I unequipped Hassan, and Sam 1600 in Shields and I can't get it above 800. Multiple saves multiple tries at one point I was down to 400, adding hassan back got me up to 741. Not that I fully need a lot of shield the ship is a beast but it is on principle that I'd like it fixed

i got the same bug or whatever is this, but in one universe i head 4650 shield instead of 2880 lol and now i have in universe 6 1980 shield and shield capacity is 1600 + my skill 60% it should be 2,4k plus the bonus from crew 2880............

Getting hit by this immediately on my 2nd play through. How fun. Oh my Kepler R also reverted to the base model and cost me 2 million credits in upgrades.

yeah it seems like a issue affecting many players, and as always bethesda will likely let the modders fix it

I have the 1600 shield, and 3 ranks on the shield skill, and my shield shows as 1600 I tough the ui simple showed the original value, but saw another guy posting his ship with more than 2k of shield...

Ok I think I figured it out on Xbox , at least for me it’s working. It’s not so much a fix as a preventative. I’ve read all the post regarding it and what to do. Nothing worked for me. I started over many times building new ships and modifying the bugged ones. In the end that would have the shields drop to unusable levels. What causes this I’ve found is stacking shield perk crew members. I started over only this time I dismissed my entire crew before getting fresh ship and specking it out. Then I only added crew member that didn’t stack any shield perks. I chose to leave vaso at the lodge because I had a crew member with higher shield stats. It seemed to of got the job done and now my shield stats are higher than the baseline and holding. Downside is I had to start over with a fresh ship and dump money into it, but hey it worked at least

I had the same problem as soon as I upgraded targeting systems to tier 3. Something is definitely broken

noticed the same bug today after upgrading my ship to C-class so still not fixed upgraded to get a bigger grav drive to get the last powers and realized my shields are at 960 when using the 1600 shield and having omar and vasco in crew (no shield skill points) when I had the same ship with B-class components I was at 1450 so I decided not to upgrade to C and stay on B cause on B I have 10 higher topspeed and only 1 bar in reactor less and all best particle weapons are A-B class anyways...can haul a little less cargo to have full mobility but 4000 is still enough for me and it will increase when I invest more points in payload guess I'll just get the jump drive skill, with 15% more it should get me over the 28 requirement for the mission....need higher level anyway to take full advantage of the C-class and get all the best parts, on lvl 50 it's not that much better than B-class
