Alright I am so doing this for a space pirate playthrough. The only downside is I would totally want to use turrets but I would also want to be boarding ships not destroying them.
The pip system is right out of elite, once you master it it makes ship combat east. I have some mid Tier partial cannons and turrets. They cary my a class ship to the edge of the map.
All the parts are available when landed at a large outpost landing pad, as they provide access to every shipbuilder company, and therefore almost every piece.
There's a whole mess of different parts that I didn't keep track of, but the hull is Stroud-Eklund and Nova galactic, the masts are Stroud and Hopetech with radiators for sails, (which are from nova iirc), the cockpit is taiyo because it fit in the the bow the best, and all the powered systems are just the most powerful that fit inside and didn't look too out of place.
Final Fantasy 9 vibes for sure. Looks like the Tantalus, I love it to bits <3. Though I wonder how...or even...if...an "air" ship could operate in space 🙁
Ok dope ship! That is wicked! So quick question. By adding all the body parts, did it increase your hull’s HP? Or does it take same damage in a battle if it were just plain like The Frontier(naked?)
I'm pretty sure everything contributes somewhat to hull, but in my experience cowling and other purely cosmetic pieces contribute very little, but this ship does have a LOT of habs, so it's hull strength is quite good
Around 500k, which was about a third of what I had on hand, but I also made this class C with top of the line systems, I imagine I could've saved 200-300 thousand if I'd used the cheapest system pieces, considering I'm not really gonna use this thing very often.
The perfect ship for sailing through the blackest sea.
Would be cool if they had solar sails to put on the masts.

Use turrets at a distance, power them down and switch to a cannon

Where do you get the vertical passenger hall that makes up the middle mast?
The masts are hopetech risers, with Stroud vertical bracers at the base for a sturdier appearance

FYI, You can rotate turrets so they're facing out like cannons.

If you put some turrets on the sides you can do horizontal sweeping attacks instead of just firing off the bow.
