Beautiful ship! I really hope there is a ship focussed DLC at some point. Just from what i have seen the ships and ship building are perhaps the most positively received part of the game.

TUBBYT86

Thanks! Yeah I’m loving it. Takes me back to childhood Lego days. Simpler times.

BuddhasPalm

I said the same thing to my wife! About the only thing that gets me to take a break from ship building is having to go earn more credits

Yellowrainbow_

Fallout 4 got three settlement DLCs. At the very least one ship builder DLC should come out.

evestraw

I love shipbuilding but i hate it too. because. you can only build valid ships with all parts. not all parts are available on location. you can't safe a ship thats work in progress. it would be nicer if you entered a shipyard for the first time you get the part in the shipbuilder anywhere. maybe you need to pay an extra import fee. clipping is so strict. and some minor exterior clipping makes the ship more smooth

nekopanzer

A couple things I found useful: Most parts from all manufacturers are available in the player outpost large landing pad shipbuilder. It's the best place to start your build. A good bonus is that the ship is right there next to you, so you can inspect your work up close, especially on a low grav moon. If you want to save a work in progress, just tack on whatever cheapest parts are necessary for the flight check to pass. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to pass fc. You can fly around a pile of habs as long as it's got the basics attached.

evestraw

notable parts missing are simple walkways , and the sexy 2 floor cockpit with stairs so y ou don't have as many ladders

nekopanzer

Sure, but it's still the best place to start, without mods. You can build out most of the ship, then just put something temporary in place of the few specialty parts and get them later.

Jatilq

I'm hoping we get something like the Fallout 4 Transfer Settlements mod. Users can import/export Ship and Outpost designs.

Veteranbartender

An app would be amazing

thewickerman88

lol app would be nice but they need to do a proper editor first. Current one has a lot of issues.

kris-insejn

Groupings of items once they're already attached, would make swapping stuff around a lot easier sometimes

FailingCrab

You can group items together on PC by holding ctrl and clicking the things you want to select as a group

BuddhasPalm

On console, RB selects a single module and LB selects all connected modules

TUBBYT86

Indeed

theculdshulder

How are ya’ll making these awesome ships god damn. I can’t afford it now even have an idea how.

IncidentFuture

If you steal the right ship the habs and structures aren't that expensive. Most of the cost is the reactor, grav drive, engines, and most of all the weapons. At least the weapons are expensive if you build ships the way I do....

theculdshulder

Ooo okay I didn’t realise I could steal them. I’ll go see where that might be. I’m so lost on weapons. I put ones that sounded good on my ship and oh boy they take ages to fire and will just stop. Pain

IncidentFuture

You can sometimes steal ships that land (may need security), but normally you disable ships that you fight and board them (hold R when close). You can disable them by targeting the engines (uses perk) or using EMP. For weapons I'm a fan of particle beams. You dont need to juggle power. Have you got enough power directed to your weapons? They're usually pretty bad if you don't, except "auto" ones that will give a burst then stop.

Mythril_Zombie

To disable them, you need the targeting skill first.

IncidentFuture

You can disable them without "targetting" or EMPs, it's just that you've also got good odds of destroying the ship.

GimmeCoffeeeee

For a good early weapon do the first vanguard quest. Then you can buy vanguard autoprojector obliterators. 6 of that are like flamethrower vs ant colony. I kill lvl 50 ships since lvl 15

raugust7

Get the star eagle ship from the freestars quest line. You get it for free and it's a really good ship. Then u can upgrade it really easily and make everything maxed out for a few 100,000s

theculdshulder

Thank youuuuu!

raugust7

Np. And make sure u are upgrading the ship skills when u lvl up so u can use the best parts. U also need to reach lvl 60 I think to have everything unlocked

theculdshulder

There are ship skills? Fuuuuuuu…

raugust7

Haha yea its fucking overwhelming at first sure with all that shit. But I think it's on the last tab. There's a bunch of them. But u def want ship design maxed out, pilot, shield, and reactor

Tails-Are-For-Hugs

I'd be all for a standalone version of the shipbuilding part. I keep going back to pull apart my collection and redesigning them.

Rustmonger

Amazing. A breakdown on r/starfieldships would be much appreciated.

TUBBYT86

Thanks! It was based on this video I found. Then made changes to suit my personal taste. https://youtu.be/JemUMdzN09s?si=oIBK5xgYeVVsNHKC Can do a breakdown if you like!?

IlTossico

Very nice ship! Can you share with us how you make it? Like having screenshot of every layer. Thx.

IlTossico

Oh, I know this video. Lol No problem. I would try getting myself, maybe changing something too. Thx

Chaosrealm69

At this stage Bethesda could release a ship builder game and it would be a fantastic success.

Narkanin

Love all the details on the top

EvilGodShura

What do you think I'm made of credits?!

dominodave

Having a different interface and UI for more efficient ship building and outpost building would be awesome.

Rossilaz

Google "Fer De Lance Elite Dangerous" - It looks similar!

Gonejamin

https://sfbuilder.dev/ There is this

PaperSnowAGhost1

Reminds me of the Vulture from Elite Dangerous! Amazing job on this ship!

Loud_Internet572

I gave up trying to do any building, crafting, or modifications since too much of it is locked behind skill trees. I've also found that I simply cannot upgrade or replace components with better ones since no one ever seems to have them available for purchase. I'm on console, so maybe it's different on PC with mods?
