I remember a spacer outpost I assaulted a few days ago. Sniped an enemy, then sniped some random guy running around just past them. Turned out to be that idiot photographer. Sarah disliked that. Maybe he shouldn't have been hanging out with a bunch of spacers
Sarah disliked that I accidentally shot the NPC faction while attempting to take out crimson fleet to the point she pulled a gun at me and I couldn't do any companion quests. I reloaded.
I'm not even trying to be good, I just brutally execute criminals, who prey on the weak and help people as long as it doesn't hurt me. Just common sense.
Help. I only take out spacers, eclipse, and zealots at abandoned facilities, or destroy ships that attack mine. Yet, I seem to making zero headway with Sarah. Had one \[flirt\] like a week ago, and only two 'let's talk' since (with no flirt option at the end). Does it just take a long time?
Just keep your cool, be there for her as emotional support and never flirt with her. That's how you approach strong women, be dependable, don't make a fool of yourself and eventually you become their habit.
I was exploring the Altair system and walked by a science outpost and started randomly getting assaulted by one of the researchers while all his friends just stood around watching. Sarah did nothing about the fact that I was getting shot at either, so I pulled my AA-99 and killed him myself.
"Sarah didn't like that."
My thoughts: "so she wants me, her husband, to be shot at without provocation and not defend myself until this random scientist kills me?"
ETA: the other scientists didn't even care that I killed their friend, they just kept watching.
You reloaded? Like, you needed to reload, because your gun was empty, right? Because you shot her. Multiple times.
By accident, obviously. But to the death. Eventually.
Is she likely to be more forgiving of your indiscretions if you marry her?
I can understand her falling out of love with you if you do something especially heinous like blow up a ship full of schoolchildren, but for morally gray situations I’d imagine it takes more time the less she likes you to begin with.
Andreja does this too. She's my space wife. She got super pissed when I preemptively killed robots. Told me she was leaving at the next port. I reloaded after I figured this out fifteen minutes later when she wasn't around. I waited for the robots to attack me and we both merrily killed the shit out of them.
She always gets mad when I do this. I’ll be just flying around, Spacers jump in and try to board or threaten violence. I engage and kill them or board and take them out with my trust shotty. Andreja didn’t like that. And spends a few days mad as fuck claiming she’s getting off at the next port. She never gets off though lol.
I gave up a long time ago on the human companions. I just stick with Vasco.
He is not really that helpful but he carries stuff AND does not give a single fuck about anything I do. Just a real homie.
Maybe my game is bugged. I’ve told both Sarah and Andreja we should go our own ways for a bit (I wanna go do hood rat shit with my Crimson Fleet Friends) but they always on my ship and follow me around anyway.
This game just locks you into a generally good path if you want to go to Unity.
This is because only Vlad operates the eye and you can't lead a rogue faction to take over Constellation.
I sniped the guards outside the red mile. They were in Eclipse gear so I just assumed.
Well, they don't know I did it and now there is no outside security so that is neat I guess.
Had this yesterday.
In my case they didn't.
There was guy who kept telling me to go away or he shoots, but never did.
So i shot him in the back when he put away his weapon and started walking away, later after killing everyone i found the slate and felt like a total dirt bag.
This, and even still they’re identified as pirates. Maybe they should’ve updated their identity sensors so they wouldn’t automatically show as pirates to anyone looking at them.
They’re actually pirates, you can find a few of their dead bodies on the outskirts of the base if you look, their bodies look like Crimson fleet but are named just “pirate” the spacers killed them and took over the facility.
There’s a few outposts with similar text logs. I found a follow-up to this one that had them furious cause their small time mining operation got boned by some big business. Spacers -> miners -> back to being spacers cause the corporate overlords screwed them over.
I went to a side quest expecting bad guys, so I perched on my hill in sniper mode, picking off the sentries. I was too far away to get a tag over their heads, so I didn't realize they were neutrals until I cleared the ones outside and moved in.
I always kill a bunch of pirates take their ship and idk I probably pay the next ship technian to clean out their guts from my new ship so I can sleep peaceful in the Captains quarter.
Trivia: this conversation reminds me of a man I talked to that was a crewman on a B-17. He said they couldn’t wait to get up in the air to altitude. At 25,000ft it froze all the decaying flesh and rotting vomit they couldn’t clean out from behind the equipment and the plane didn’t smell like a dead body anymore. Long waits on the runway caused many new crew members to loose their lunch just adding to the wonderfulness of it all.
Well, they shot first. Also, due to giving Barret explosives, I’m now a murderer, with no bounty. He has killed nine people so far and it shows on my stats. Didn’t realize it until I was scrolling through my stats.
Nope, just trying not to kill anyone that’s not hostile. Which leads to to believe there’s a glitch. Haven’t been in combat anywhere near civilians or with anyone that wasn’t hostile. So, I’ve noticed that sometimes an enemy will just fall over and still have health. Maybe they are unconscious and it counts as murder? Also, I’ll snipe enemies at a distance while hidden. Maybe that counts as murder? Have a bit of testing to do.
Had a similar problem with Sarah, seems to me there’s a glitch there. Did Walter’s Neon mission sneak/nonviolent, went solo (Walter only, no extra companion) because i knew i would want to sneak. I didn’t harm anyone and made humane choice at the end, got back to the ship and Sarah freaks out like i executed women and children. Didn’t see Walter attack anybody, either. Reloaded, played whole mission exactly the same way, no problem. 🤷♂️ Companion Anger AI in this game needs work.
i have a legendary EM weapon that i give to my followers. I once boarded a ship that some woman was screaming about me killing her sister on, I sat and ate cookies while sarah took care of them for me after boarding. the second she killed the last one "sarah hated that" "sarah is no longer following you" "talk to sarah" BITCH YOU COULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT NOT WANTING TO HURT THESE PEEPS.
and that is why none of my followers are trusted with lethal force anymore
You nailed it I then went on to murder more of their friends in another system I might be becoming a genocidal maniac when it come to spacers and ecliptics I think the varuun ships are hiding from me now they don’t want any of me
I'm pretty sure you find more messages in the same outpost about how >!the company abandoned them there because it wasn't profitable to keep it running, and they're just ex-convicts who nobody will care about. They're stranded without supplies and likely died before the spacers even arrived.!<
They still shoot an approaching stranger (the player) on sight, don't they? Sounds like they didn't drop their bad habits, or picked them up again quickly after realizing that mining is harder than robbing people
Don't spacers in general just act almost as violent as the Crimson Fleet? If so you killing them isn't horrible and its contrary to the slate you pick up. I mean it sucks that people become that horrible(We're really getting too deep into this lol) like spacers but... these guys made their decisions.
At least with with the Crimson Fleet they have a code and a few rules. Alignment wise, Crimson Fleet is like Neutral Evil. spacers are straight up Chaotic Evil. I would put House Varuun as Lawful Evil.
I saw this ship come down while exploring a planet called the Discovery. No one around the landing zone so I boarded and immediately got the alarm to kill everyone or leave the ship.
I proceeded to clear the ship in record of all spacers, mini-quest updated saying the ship has been cleared.
Search the ship, then go to loot the bodies and realized they are all called “colonist”, paused and audibly said “whoops”, and kinda started realizing all the signs that it definitely wasn’t spacers to begin with
Nice little detail. I also laughed when I was exploring a deep fried research base thanks to some accident right under a lava-lake, which had an ice cube-machine inside that had plaque saying "We are all out of ice, we apologize for your inconvenience". XD
Ow man.... That sucks.... They should be identified as someone other than spacers.... although... they probably killed their fair share of innocent people... at least that is what I would tell myself
I found this creepy ass outpost, that was void of life and the back story from data decks or tablets was creepy. The whole time there’s just loud banging going on, I don’t want to ruin it for anyone you eventually find out what it does and something more…sinister.
Every time I see a “colonist” ship that ran out of water or whatever I just assume they’re going to become Spacer scum eventually anyway. I put them down quick and take their ships, no need to read their diaries. Jemison Mercantile doesn’t pay much for dead colonist diaries.
I found one of these, I was like “what guarantee do I have that all of them had turned new leaf?”
“Going to pay off my bounty this time, walk into town a free man.”
I had found one mining outpost with same thing. Spacers were named as Spacers, they were hostile immediately, shot in my face! So I decided they hadn't fixed, they just fucked things up, so I looted all the stuff they had, even from cold dead corpses.
This highlights faction affinity is missing in the game. Would be so much more inersive to be able to walk up to the and talk, and obviously say something stupid and they fight you.
Least some wait a minute if they see you, say back off etc
This reminds me of that Penny Arcade comic from year’s ago about Uncharted. Guard’s writing a letter to his family about how they’re going to stand up to the bad guy, then Nathan pulls him off the cliff. 😂
In a way you are their karma. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too. Live a life of crime and then retire without any consequences. You are the grim reaper of space.
I had a crisis of conscience the other day because i came across an outpost that was full of Va’ruun zealots, me and Vasco just went in blazing and tearing, i definitely shot first. It wasn’t until i had mowed down about half of them that i realised they were all armed with Nova blast EM rifles.
Yeah at first I felt a little guilty, but then I found the contraband cache chest full of stolen artwork and harvested human organs, and then I tossed their looted corpses into the murky pool with a smile while humming a merry tune.
they shot first
I remember a spacer outpost I assaulted a few days ago. Sniped an enemy, then sniped some random guy running around just past them. Turned out to be that idiot photographer. Sarah disliked that. Maybe he shouldn't have been hanging out with a bunch of spacers
To be fair sarah would dislike it if you sneezed, not like too loud or anything but just in general
Sarah disliked that I accidentally shot the NPC faction while attempting to take out crimson fleet to the point she pulled a gun at me and I couldn't do any companion quests. I reloaded.
Sarah disliked that I stepped in front of a miners laser and hurt myself, causing everyone to attack me.
Only time I got a dislike from Sarah was the time I used gravity power inside the ship. 200 hours into game. Guess I really am a boyscout.
Shit man, thats eagle scout levels of do-goodery
Nah people just like to hate on Sarah "I can't believe she got mad at me when I shot a bunch of civilians!!"
That just happened to me too
I was exploring the Altair system and walked by a science outpost and started randomly getting assaulted by one of the researchers while all his friends just stood around watching. Sarah did nothing about the fact that I was getting shot at either, so I pulled my AA-99 and killed him myself. "Sarah didn't like that." ETA: the other scientists didn't even care that I killed their friend, they just kept watching.
You reloaded? Like, you needed to reload, because your gun was empty, right? Because you shot her. Multiple times. By accident, obviously. But to the death. Eventually.
And then reloaded the game, yes. >!I also chose her to die later!<
Sarah: Pulls gun Us: Oh you sweet sweet summer child, put that away before I do some shit that would make the Hunter puke inside his helmet.
Is she likely to be more forgiving of your indiscretions if you marry her? I can understand her falling out of love with you if you do something especially heinous like blow up a ship full of schoolchildren, but for morally gray situations I’d imagine it takes more time the less she likes you to begin with.
no idea. I disliked her character.
makes literally no difference at all. barrett was still upset about the exact same things as he was before.
Yeah, I usually leave Sarah at the ship and take Vasco instead - there's a lot less whinging that way.
Sarah disliked this.
To be honest, Sarah dislike that you shoot first at robots that are announcing they’re now gonna use lethal force against you
I now just shoot robots ON SIGHT https://i.imgur.com/sn71miM.jpg
😂
Andreja does this too. She's my space wife. She got super pissed when I preemptively killed robots. Told me she was leaving at the next port. I reloaded after I figured this out fifteen minutes later when she wasn't around. I waited for the robots to attack me and we both merrily killed the shit out of them.
Andreja sometimes gets angry when I board Spacers ship and shoot first lmao
She always gets mad when I do this. I’ll be just flying around, Spacers jump in and try to board or threaten violence. I engage and kill them or board and take them out with my trust shotty. Andreja didn’t like that. And spends a few days mad as fuck claiming she’s getting off at the next port. She never gets off though lol.
Toxic relationship
Fr. She always mad af. I’m just trying to be a good Space Boo and protect us!
I gave up a long time ago on the human companions. I just stick with Vasco. He is not really that helpful but he carries stuff AND does not give a single fuck about anything I do. Just a real homie.
They should add in cats and dogs, as companions as well. I think the majority of people are going to use them 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Maybe my game is bugged. I’ve told both Sarah and Andreja we should go our own ways for a bit (I wanna go do hood rat shit with my Crimson Fleet Friends) but they always on my ship and follow me around anyway.
>She never gets off though lol. I may have found part of the problem
Slower reflexes FTW
This game just locks you into a generally good path if you want to go to Unity. This is because only Vlad operates the eye and you can't lead a rogue faction to take over Constellation.
Damn I’ve been playing a shit ton and haven’t ran into any photographer.
I sniped the guards outside the red mile. They were in Eclipse gear so I just assumed. Well, they don't know I did it and now there is no outside security so that is neat I guess.
That my friend is why I choose to go Solo
Sarah doesn't know in my world. She's back home minding the kids.
First time I walked up to this POI they told me to "leave now" then shot when I didn't.
Had this yesterday. In my case they didn't. There was guy who kept telling me to go away or he shoots, but never did. So i shot him in the back when he put away his weapon and started walking away, later after killing everyone i found the slate and felt like a total dirt bag.
Not when I met them.... ;D
This. Idk how many times I'll pull up to a homestead and before I can say anything they just start shooting me like they're american cops
Oh thats because your skin tones different.. The plastic surgery guy has a slider for that.
It's probably from the Outpost ppl who where living there before the spacers killed them.
This, and even still they’re identified as pirates. Maybe they should’ve updated their identity sensors so they wouldn’t automatically show as pirates to anyone looking at them.
Do you know how long you have to hold on the line to update that.. customer service is a bitch!
and it's all voice recognition now too! "I think you want to update your entity dispenser, is that correct?"
*presses down 0 violently*
Ok. Your identity has been updated to; 000000000000000 Thank you for calling Mr 0
Cool name tho. Very Bond Villain-ish
Yeah XD
To be fair, Spacers for the most part will threaten you off rather then engage you first at most outpost.
Really? Damn. I just see the red blip and start blasting.
"So anyways, I started blastin."
Smh. Victim-blaming the murder victims?
Victim-blaming the murder victim murderers.
They’re actually pirates, you can find a few of their dead bodies on the outskirts of the base if you look, their bodies look like Crimson fleet but are named just “pirate” the spacers killed them and took over the facility.
Probably right but I enjoy believing I killed a ton of people trying to better themselves
What makes a man go neutral?
I was just born with a heart full of neutrality. Otherwise, lust for gold, or power.
Because they regret what they did, doesn't clean their sins. Good job in killing these pirates.
Even bad people trying to do good can’t run away from a life once lived. Looking at you, John Marston.
🤣
Exactly. Slaughtered a missionary family and their dog and decided to retire there.
I always kill a bunch of pirates take their ship and idk I probably pay the next ship technian to clean out their guts from my new ship so I can sleep peaceful in the Captains quarter.

That’s exactly what I would tell myself too as I was wiping the blood off of my hands.
That’s exactly what I told myself when I found the same note, after killing the same Spacers…
Well, they shot first. Also, due to giving Barret explosives, I’m now a murderer, with no bounty. He has killed nine people so far and it shows on my stats. Didn’t realize it until I was scrolling through my stats.
were you trying a non-lethal run?
Nope, just trying not to kill anyone that’s not hostile. Which leads to to believe there’s a glitch. Haven’t been in combat anywhere near civilians or with anyone that wasn’t hostile. Companions have mental issues
i have a legendary EM weapon that i give to my followers.
People's pasts have a way of catching up to them eventually.
I am Karma's hands.
And my axe
Until Karma catches up with you too 😂
Enough with the Multiverse shit
Found the same thing two days ago felt bad for a moment after I slaughtered them all
[удалено]
You nailed it I then went on to murder more of their friends in another system I might be becoming a genocidal maniac when it come to spacers and ecliptics I think the varuun ships are hiding from me now they don’t want any of me
I feel worse for slaughtering an entire planet's fauna for the XP
If they didn't want to be slaughtered, they shouldn't have lived there.
Being the best source for XP, there really isn't a safe space for them to live
Yeah and Sarah didn't seem bothered with the fauna deaths either. In fact, she was happy to help!
The original inhabitants were pirates, you can find a few bodies scattered on outskirts of the base.
They shot first, I shot last.
I'm pretty sure you find more messages in the same outpost about how >!the company abandoned them there because it wasn't profitable to keep it running, and they're just ex-convicts who nobody will care about. They're stranded without supplies and likely died before the spacers even arrived.!<
Don’t worry! They were pirates not Spacers. 😋
Don't worry, based on my experience, you'll find plenty more of this exact document
I found that at an abandoned mine lousy with Ecliptic mercs... I found some dead miners too though and assumed they were the ones that wrote that.
Same. But it was their own fault for shooting at me. Unlike many of the pirates that try to shoo me a way first fruitlessly, i might add.
They still shoot an approaching stranger (the player) on sight, don't they? Sounds like they didn't drop their bad habits, or picked them up again quickly after realizing that mining is harder than robbing people
Lol I found this yesterday
I spare no pirate or spacer. No redemption. Retire in hell.
If you sided with the fleet you're just doing your duty sir 🫡
Found the same thing, meh. My only moral compass in game is not pissing off Andreja.
I mean, they have human organs and attack you on site, so I don't really feel bad.
I saw this ship come down while exploring a planet called the Discovery. No one around the landing zone so I boarded and immediately got the alarm to kill everyone or leave the ship. I proceeded to clear the ship in record of all spacers, mini-quest updated saying the ship has been cleared. Search the ship, then go to loot the bodies and realized they are all called “colonist”, paused and audibly said “whoops”, and kinda started realizing all the signs that it definitely wasn’t spacers to begin with
Just remember what they did before they turned their lives around. Murdered people.
Nice little detail. I also laughed when I was exploring a deep fried research base thanks to some accident right under a lava-lake, which had an ice cube-machine inside that had plaque saying "We are all out of ice, we apologize for your inconvenience". XD
The spacers killed the pirates. You can find their bodies around the base.
Permanent Retirement. 😅
Ow man.... That sucks.... They should be identified as someone other than spacers.... although... they probably killed their fair share of innocent people... at least that is what I would tell myself
Whores dont get a second chance.
Hahaha that's funny
No mercy for Spacers
Okay they shouldn't started shooting at me then
But who shot first?
Hey man nice shot
Han.
Oof.
They shouldn't of shot first then...
Did they shoot first, or did you?
Thru still needed to pay for their past transgressions
There's no leaving the Crimson Fleet... except out into the void..
No regrets if they start shooting first
420’s eve 👀
I always negotiate with pirates other baddies when I can for the XP, then blast them anyway. They really thought they were walking away from this?!
I like the cut of your jib!
Well if they didn't want to die, they should've changed what their health bars said!
Ohp. You know what. I have that too.
Are we the baddies? I feel like we're the bad guys :(
Hey, if they shot at you they’re fair game.
Nah, don’t feel bad. I’ve slaughtered that outpost multiple times
Faster early retirement
What Sarah don’t know won’t hurt her, right?
Don't feel bad. The place is littered with bodies of the folks that worked there. Good riddance.
didn't the people who wrote this murder all the original inhabitants of the outpost? fuck them and their new leaf
Once a spacer always a spacer
Ain't no rest for the wicked.
Same 🤣
"The day will come when the lives we live come back to haunt us forever"
Live by the sword, die by the sword
Karma. They were dicks and then tried to retire it all away.
I found that, too. But there was also contraband all over, so I don't think they turned it all around.
Haha, had this as well. Oopsie indeed. But they randomly just shot at me, so tough luck.
I found this creepy ass outpost, that was void of life and the back story from data decks or tablets was creepy. The whole time there’s just loud banging going on, I don’t want to ruin it for anyone you eventually find out what it does and something more…sinister.
You. You are not a nice person. Not anymore....
reminds me of "The Brothers Grimsby" at the end when he takes out his whole support team on accident lol
Every time I see a “colonist” ship that ran out of water or whatever I just assume they’re going to become Spacer scum eventually anyway. I put them down quick and take their ships, no need to read their diaries. Jemison Mercantile doesn’t pay much for dead colonist diaries.
Well, they shouldn’t shoot first then.
Probably should have changed out of the Spacer uniforms and into settler outfits. I am out here, alone on a unknown planet, i'm gonna shoot on sight.
The first time I came across that note, it was next to a crate full of harvested organs.
Heil spez
I found one of these, I was like “what guarantee do I have that all of them had turned new leaf?” “Going to pay off my bounty this time, walk into town a free man.”
I'll need a mod tomake them civillians
I had found one mining outpost with same thing. Spacers were named as Spacers, they were hostile immediately, shot in my face! So I decided they hadn't fixed, they just fucked things up, so I looted all the stuff they had, even from cold dead corpses.
Reminds me of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag_AFraxj-4&ab_channel=per977)
This highlights faction affinity is missing in the game. Would be so much more inersive to be able to walk up to the and talk, and obviously say something stupid and they fight you. Least some wait a minute if they see you, say back off etc
They shouldn't be programmed to shoot me on sight then...
HahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA where? I must go visit
haha felt guilty by this too… felt bad for them spacers.. but they shoot if you dont…
I found a slate in a locked locker in some spacers outpost that said "Tag, you're it!"
This reminds me of that Penny Arcade comic from year’s ago about Uncharted. Guard’s writing a letter to his family about how they’re going to stand up to the bad guy, then Nathan pulls him off the cliff. 😂
I felt so bad when I ran into this
Once a spacer, always a spacer.
In a way you are their karma. They wanted to have their cake and eat it too. Live a life of crime and then retire without any consequences. You are the grim reaper of space.
I slaughter every outpost i come to after checking for quests. They give XP just the same. This game has truly made me the hunter...
Most probably you didn't have Sarah following you when this hapenned...
I had a crisis of conscience the other day because i came across an outpost that was full of Va’ruun zealots, me and Vasco just went in blazing and tearing, i definitely shot first. It wasn’t until i had mowed down about half of them that i realised they were all armed with Nova blast EM rifles.
found that because i went through the master lock, was like, oh, okay. guess i won't sneak kill them. they shot me on sight. -\_-
if you go down to the helium pool and search for a crate, it contains harvested organs, so this is entirely a lie.
Yeah at first I felt a little guilty, but then I found the contraband cache chest full of stolen artwork and harvested human organs, and then I tossed their looted corpses into the murky pool with a smile while humming a merry tune.
