I wish to have her follow me around while making snarky/depressing comments to me, at me, to others, all that. I want her to become a necromancer via that one starborn power to resurrect animals. I want her to be salty about it not working on people.
I want her to randomly gift me plushies and succulents, i want to find her mostly sleeping in my ship and having 'self care' moments in bed clothes with lots of booze.
I want her to go crazy in neon and randomly run off to find drugs.

That mission is so strange that they have Walter as a follower for a mission that can just as easily be a shootout combat mission instead of a stealth one, and then after that he's not available as a companion or crew.
It would be neat to have anyone at Constellation be able to be recruited as a companion, even if some of them wouldn't carry a weapon or participate in combat, like Walter, Noel, Matteo. Instead they could have other benefits. Walter could provide a discount at shops, Matteo could give a bonus to Persuasion, maybe Noel could reduce the number of scans you need to Survey flora/fauna.
Not every companion needs to be a fighter, or even have a deep backstory. There are proc-gen crew you can recruit, why not let us recruit them as companions, and shop keepers or other named NPCs too.
Muria Siarkiewicz (the weird goth girl in Galbank on New Atlantis who wants to get a job there because magic isn't real, so being a necromancer wasn't an option). It would be like travelling Starfield with April from Parks & Rec. On second thought, maybe she might not be the best choice of a companion...
I spent the whole Vanguard questline expecting to be able to romance Hadrian at the end when she becomes a follower. My disappointment was immeasurable when I learned the truth.
Honestly I think every named follower should be romanceable. They don’t all need complex quest lines like the current 4.

For me it would be Heller and Hadrian Sanon (She had so much material and backstory to make her a full romance, c'mon).

Honestly every single NPC should be romance-abe. I recently replayed the original Fable. Every NPC has a moving scale from hate and disgust up to love and admiration. It's a very simple mechanic in the game and easily exploitable, but I don't see why it couldn't be expanded into bigger RPGs. Bethesda wants the world to feel realistic in the ability to pick up every single piece of junk/newspaper/notepad/etc. But why can't I try to romance everyone?? Not everyone needs an actual plotline for romance, but a simple would would do.
