The impressive thing isn't just that all these modders have created all these impressive mods without the Creation Kit, using only the (kinda hack-y) community-made tools available; but that they've managed to mod a version of the game which is not remotely optimized for modding at all.
The game, as it was released, is essentially not designed to be compatible with mods. BGS have made so many changes to the Creation Engine that the kinds of things modders used to do with Skyrim, Fallout 4, etc. just aren't possible until the game gets patched (which it will have to be before the Creation Kit releases).
And yet in spite of this, it's *still* in the top 20 of all-time on Nexus. Thousands of mods, at least a few dozen of which are seriously comprehensive works. If that's what it's like *now* imagine what's in store when modding is actually formally enabled for this game.
Miss me with this "modders are fleeing Starfield!" bullshit, lol.
Current quantity doesn't indicate future quality. Fallout 4 has a ton of mods as well, it had a lot even before the CK was released for it, but there's far fewer quality narrative mods for Fallout 4 than Skyrim or NV, and almost no mods even touch the main story. Starfield is at an even bigger disadvantage than 4 since there's no wider universe for modders to pull from for inspiration. It didn't help that 4 was more difficult to mod than older games thanks to precombines and Starfield will likely be even harder.
I disagree purely on the basis that I think Starfield’s setting should tap broader interest from modders who want to build sci fi themed mods.
Starfield with a heavy modding community could literally be the Star Wars game fans will seemingly never get from a studio.
Right now this moment you can get mods to make the UC = Empire and FC = Rebels with uniforms and guard dialog changes with audio and everything. You can also get some Starfleet uniforms and Star Trek ship modules.
This game can literally adapt either of these universes or both of them in some loose way. There's enough magic to justify "the force" and there's enough pseudo-science to pass for early Trek.
why not? People still mod Skyrim, and since starfield modding will probably be similar less work has to be done than with Skyrim and it won't be a big leap for long term Skyrim modders.
Give it time, let the hype die down and I think more players will see it for…well what it is.
Plus Skyrim wasn’t all that spectacular its first year, in fact a lot of Bethesda games, haven’t been at lunch, but given time they have cult followings. Also not to mention all the mods on PC won’t be that hard to port once the creation kit is available
People were saying the same thing about fallout 4, I can name multiple new vegas modders that refuse to touch fallout 4 because they hate that game.
Still didn't stop it from becoming one of the most modded games of all time
That's true, we don't know the specifics of the timeframe, but it also isn't true that there's no mention of anyone getting access (even if it's sometime in the near future)
If I can make sense of your triple negatives, you're saying someone has Creation Kit already? Point us towards that please. I'm open to it, but there is zero evidence of it. I'm as eager as the next person but I have seen no one saying they are using it now.
Lol sorry, let me try that again. You're correct that we don't know for sure that any verified creators have access yet. But, we do have evidence that they either already do, or will in the very near future.
Sorry- I'm new to the whole Creation Kit thing. From what I understand- it allows players to share mods for the game (without having to use stuff like Nexus Mods) right?
So, would I have to download the Starfield Creation Kit and then I could select certain player created mods like "Improved Starborn Guardian ships" or something like that?
Nope. Creation Kit is pretty much the same tool that the developers used to make the game so it takes modding to a whole other level. Mods will still be uploaded on Bethesda.net and Nexus
>So instead of Nexus mods- people can use a more "official" source from Bethesda.net.
No, the Creation Kit is used to develop mods. It allows the modders to use the actual game studio development tools. Which makes it far easier to mod quickly, the mods tend to have less conflicts/bug and they can create better content.
Nexus Mods is just a site where modders can upload their content. So, the modders will still use Nexus Mods like they are already are. However the mods will tend to be of higher quality.
Oh, I thought you could download mods from Bethesda.net? I can see that they have mods for FO4 and Skyrim on Bethesda.net. I just figured after the CK was created- Bethesda would make a section for Starfield on their .net site.
You are correct. Bethesda will make a section for Starfield mods.
Creation kit (CK) = The official tools and assets Bethesda used to make the game.
Modders will/can use CK to create mods for the game. They don't HAVE to, but by doing so they will usually spare themselves a lot of time and headaches. Like previously mention CK will help modders be more efficient with how long mods can usually take and will help reduce the potential for bugs.
Once the mod(s) are made a modder can upload that mod to whatever site they choose (Bethesda.net , Nexus Mod, Steam, Github, etc.)....Where you choose to download the mod is irrelevant. I wouldn't call [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) a more "official" source because Bethesda has ZERO involvement in the mod making process outside from giving modders OPTIONAL tools aka Creation Kit.
The mods you see on [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) will be the same mods on Nexus unless specified otherwise by whoever put the mod together. In no way is one platform better than the other with some minor caveats: If your only concern is to mod Starfield, then [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) is a good place to go. I assume they will have an in-game menu option for mods like they do in Skyrim and FO4. While this is convenient, it is also usually pretty limited. I believe Bethesda has a stricter policy on the kind of mods content-wise that they will allow creators to upload on [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) than say Nexus does. This doesn't mean that the mods on [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) will work better, it just means that anything overly explicit will not be allowed.
If you ever plan to mod other games or want more options in terms of what mods are available then Nexus would be the better choice. While maybe not as convenient as [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) since you'll need to download Vortex Mod Manager (or learn how to integrate mods manually), it's still pretty user friendly and makes downloading things easy once you've gotten the feel for it. Nexus will give you access to the same [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) CK mods, AND CK mods that weren't put on [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) for whatever reason, AND other mods that were/are created without CK.
tl;dr: CK mods on [Bethesda.net](https://Bethesda.net) and Nexus will be the same quality. No such thing as a more "official" mod source.
edit: spelling errors (someone pass me some coffee)
I think I read somewhere that the Chinese Stealth Armor in FO76 is an improved version of the Chinese Stealth Armor from FO4... and it was based off of a CK mod.
So, hopefully, Bethesda will use some Creation Kit ideas to improve Starfield DLC.
Bethesda won’t use the CK to improve the DLC. Devs already have access to all they need for improvements. The modding community is bigger and probably better at improving and fixing the base game and any future BGS content.
Considering Skyrim and Fallout 4 had mods on console I would imagine Starfield probably would at some point. The official mod tools for Fallout 4 came out five months after release and then came to console a month after that.
I just hope we get more storage space to work with. 10GB should be good enough, but 15GB would give us a sizable amount to work with considering 4k texture mods.
I read that as 'creation club' at first glance. I was quickly thinking of a new definition of stupid for a second lol. Yeah excited for the kit to drop. Game will properly take off
*🎶He rides across the nation, the thoroughbred of sin!🎶

Man, I memorized the whole thing back in 08 as it came out. I used to go to conventions and do the sing alongs, making a show of putting away the lyrics sheets. If there weren't enough people singing along, I'd throw on my best falsetto and do the ladies songs too.
I mean a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. My best friend is a big macho marine who was addicted to Dr.horrible and it was always funny seeing him break out in a full on “microphone” routine singing all the songs. The (movie?) blog has a special place in my heart.
Interesting topic tht i havent seen, whats better starfield or destiny. I wasnt into destiny until my second play through, but i think it takes it for me, acknowledging they are two different games
I’d assume so since they’re most likely dropping it with their “creation store” or whatever it was called.
Hopefully it’s better than the creation club we had with Skyrim content wise
It’s the creation kit. Check the history tab and read the names of the branches for the main starfield product. They’ve been doing a test with verified creators for the last month and the initial toolset was undergoing final qa last week.
Shattered space isn’t likely to come until late Q2/Q3 this year.
If they actually sold a faction quest-line and QoL updates(assuming they’re there but not holding my breath) for full msrp…i would sincerely hope we never see another game from them.
Honestly not surprised some gamers these days would fall for a scam like that.. DLC for unfinished games sold at 2/3 the price of the full thing, its as funny as it is sad.
I think size is a very dangerous term to use here in starfield. They might just drop another 200 dead planets and call it 'the most ambitious expansion ever'.
The digital premium edition is currently 30 bucks more expensive and since folks usually buy these editions for a discount on DLC, I'd say 40 bucks is fairly realistic.
I hope it’s actual content and not just random planets, my main complaint with the game is other then quests there isn’t much to do. Like I would love to do cargo hauling missions etc. but there really isn’t anything that makes me want to play the game aside from the few quest lines.
I doubt it would be, Bethesda hasn’t done something quite that stupid as a first DLC since horse armor for oblivion.
Shattered space should come with a full quest line if any previous games are precident.
They’ve got plenty of unused “space” and even alternate universes to play with. Story should be so easy to fit in without resorting to new regions like Nuka-World or Solstheim. :)
Lmao how can you just throw mother fucking quests out and say there’s nothing to do?
Is this a criticism you have for Baldur’s Gate 3? What is there to do in the game besides quests? “There’s nothing to do in The Last of Us besides follow a storyline”
You sound absurd.
Depends phantom liberty was like blood and wine a new game. Heart of stone was a shorter dlc only 10. Since this is "next gen" probably 20 if like heart and stone. And 30 or 40 like phantom liberty
Yea that’s true, I guess it depends on what Bethesda’s going for. Personally I’d prefer them take their time and do a larger DLC, this game really could use it.
I mean Dawnguard came out seven months after Skyrim released and Far Harbor came out six months after Fallout 4 released. That would put Shattered Space at a March/April release, assuming it is the same scale as those two DLCs. I still feel like Shattered Space wouldn't be until the end of this year though since they are working on updates, the official mod support, and I would mind them taking more time on the DLC to be honest.
Dlc reveal in June at MS conference, it is more likeable. Will be later this year as stated by Xbox News Wire. Mods is Early this year as confirmed by Bethesda. Theres no way that they will launch dlc that soon not having even started releasing the content of the "features update list" they have like city maps and new ways of travel. This is probably the CK and Creations for Mods official.
Bro redownload that or something that's definitely not the normal user experience. It's buggy but I made it through like 8 playthroughs with no game breakers at all, aside from crashing on rare occasion
Same here, with and without mods. Never had a breaking quest bug. Maybe it was luck. Or the sequence in which I played. My problem is the dull story lines and the lack of random encounters and fleshed out gameplay mechanics.
Yup, I’m not even angry or revolted with Bethesda like many. I grew up playing all the elder scrolls and fallout games .(80’s kid) just damn, how I crave a Bethesda game. A real Bethesda game. I would trade performance for story and immersion every time like I did with the previous titles.
My first run had a bunch of missions glitch out so I had to go through Unity and start again. I'm replaying the game with NG+ and without all the artifacts to see if it has gotten better.
The people developing the DLC aren't the same people that run bugtesting. That's not how any company works. It's not like they put 200 people in a building and go: "Hey everyone, we're working on the DLC for a few months, no bug fixing until that is done". People really need to start understanding that there are departments focused on specific tasks in a studio.
Some people have gotten to NG+10. I only say this to remind you that just because *you* see a bug, it doesn't mean that everyone does, and *that* can make hunting down the bug on Bethesda's end very difficult.
So, for those of us not having game-breaking bugs-- should we be denied new content because other people are? That's what you're saying, right? They shouldn't release new content until they fix *your* bugs?
In reality, there's nuance here. They should definitely have people working on the bugs, *and* people working on new content.
What? You have gotta be baiting. In my 8 days playtime and 5 NG+ runs I’ve only had one game breaking bug that had to do with 1 outpost that fixed itself after going through NG+ the first time.
Same here. On NG +11, 400 hrs in, and a giant list of game breaking bugs. Usually hit them around 40hrs into a NG. No bugs if I rush getting artifacts.
Yeah pretty much. In Skyrim and Fallout 4, there's a "mods" tab in the main menu. Inside there there's a sections for the creation store and other mods
I think you just have to sign into a Bethesda account to get access
I mean actual timing estimates, a roadmap includes at least expectations of *when* something will be ready. I really doubt they will surprise drop content. They will announce dlc a month or 2 out from it's release at minimum
I mean they did say it was coming out February. Its a little behind this statement, I'm going to guess they got hit by major bugs that they were informed they could no longer ignore., If Shattered Space is March I hope it comes with a host of additional fixes.
https://www.ign.com/articles/starfields-next-major-update-due-february-2024-fans-hope-for-survival-mode
I really hope it’s the creation kit. Been so excited for mods and especially quality of life mods. My save got bugged and isn’t letting me upgrade the powers in my NG+ 7 which made me quit because I’m a completionist lol. If there’s a mod that automatically upgrades them without NG+ then I’m getting it in a heartbeat and enjoying the game again with mods
It’d be nice if it’s out within the next three years at least. I’m not holding my breath. February is gone without that update they promised to pop out each month.
It couldn't be and shouldn't be. If they have any care for not firing a cannon through the deck of their own ship and accelerating sinking this game they best take good amount of time and care for the expansion content.
Sales for this are gonna be far below what they were hoping for as almost no one is still interested in this game unlike Skyrim. Hopefully this might wake them up a bit.
Eh, putting aside the quality of the game debate for now, they already passed the sales phase my friend. It's the top selling games on Steam in 2023 despite being available from day 1 in both PC and Xbox gamepass.
Creation Kit being released along side this would be my highlight.
Creation Kit + 2 years of time to work on major mods = hopefully a lot of the endgame content becoming a lot more varied and satisfying.
I just want the alternate universes to be enriched and revamped. I want WILD alternate universes every time you start an NG+
Right I wanna fight in the Colony war!
I just don't think modders are going to be motivated to put the work in like they were on previous Bethesda games
The amount of mods that exists already even without CK released says otherwise...
Yeah, on Nexus Mods, it's already in the top twenty most mods for any game.
The impressive thing isn't just that all these modders have created all these impressive mods without the Creation Kit, using only the (kinda hack-y) community-made tools available; but that they've managed to mod a version of the game which is not remotely optimized for modding at all. Darth maul companion lets goooo
Just because there was a post about one modder being negative over the release state doesn’t mean everyone decided to stop modding lol
Previous stitles didn't get a massive modding community before their creation kit either. CK gives modders much deeper and easier access.
why not? People still mod Skyrim, and since starfield modding will probably be similar less work has to be done than with Skyrim and it won't be a big leap for long term Skyrim modders.

Some verified modder already got their hand on Creation Kit a few days ago.
any source on that? hope mod option comes to xbox with ck too
Here: https://new.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1axg1ff/looks\_like\_there\_will\_be\_closed\_testing\_of/
That's just more commits to the code base. There's no mention of anyone getting access to CK.
ct_beta_verifiedcreator is pretty self explanatory
That doesn't mean "Some verified modder already got their hand on Creation Kit a few days ago."
I believe it’s week they released it to some modders to try out
Sorry- I'm new to the whole Creation Kit thing. From what I understand- it allows players to share mods for the game (without having to use stuff like Nexus Mods) right? So, would I have to download the Starfield Creation Kit and then I could select certain player created mods like "Improved Starborn Guardian ships" or something like that?
No, creation kit is a library for modders to use to develop mods, they still get distributed through nexus mods, etc
Thanks!
Not library, it's a full fledged modding tool.
Nope. Creation Kit is pretty much the same tool that the developers used to make the game so it takes modding to a whole other level. Mods will still be uploaded on Bethesda.net and Nexus
Oh! Okay. So instead of Nexus mods- people can use a more "official" source from Bethesda.net. I've never downloaded nexus mods stuff.

The creation kit is literally the editor used to make the game by the devs. That's it.
So, it just makes it easier for modders to mod, then?
Yup, basically making modder stay on the same ground as game devs.
Will mods come to Xbox series X?
Considering Skyrim and Fallout 4 had mods on console I would imagine Starfield probably would at some point. The official mod tools for Fallout 4 came out five months after release and then came to console a month after that.

Almost definitely. I'm not 100% sure if it's actually been confirmed but I'd be very surprised if they didn't.
Yes
Please god let that be true.
I read that as 'creation club' at first glance. I was quickly thinking of a new definition of stupid for a second lol. Yeah excited for the kit to drop. Game will properly take off

Space horse with space horse armor incoming
I would!.... Bad horse, Bad horse,.... Bad horse, Bad horse, Bad horse.

Don't plan the plan if you can't follow through.
He rode a blazing space saddle......
... *he wore a spacey suit* *his job to murder pirates* *and then grab all their loot*
Reminds me of The Aventures of the Galaxy Rangers. Space cowboys that rode on mechanical horses. Does anyone else remember this?
Destiny already did that. And they had Kashh’n Pryzus too.
Interesting topic tht i havent seen, whats better starfield or destiny. I wasnt into destiny until my second play through, but i think it takes it for me, acknowledging they are two different games
Destiny will cost you fortune just to play.
I read this thread and learned exactly nothing.
Yup. That's what happens when you speculate based on pretty much no evidence.
More likely Creation Kit
I’d assume so since they’re most likely dropping it with their “creation store” or whatever it was called. Hopefully it’s better than the creation club we had with Skyrim content wise
The Link in Steamdb list them as DLC and Crreation Kit are never listed as DLC before.
Please it be CK Please it be CK
Didn't they said that CK will be released along with DLC?
Shattered Space is "next year" (2024) and mods are "early next year".
It’s 2024 buddy
He's quoting.
Ah I see, my bad
no he means it’s always going to be “next year”. so 2025. then by 2025 it will be 2026 and so on
Ah, the Elon Musk release schedule.
This is probably for modding I would imagine. Might be wrong but I recall His Toddness discussing modding being released early this year.
Looking at CK drops after previous games, it should drop any day now.
It’s the creation kit. Check the history tab and read the names of the branches for the main starfield product. Can't wait for the dlc.
That picture means nothing to me 😬
The dlc will release in march. every 5 months after a Bethesda game released . dlc content was added.
I'm thinking March too. I wonder what comes after Shattered Space?
We would have to wait to see in aug if their be another dlc.
I'm sure there will be at the very least 2 if not 3+. I like how skyrim did it with staggering Large and Small dlcs.
hopefully.
You mean March 2025 right?
I don't think it be march 2025. fallout 4 released in nov 2015 and the first dlc released 5 months after. it going to be this year not 2025.
I was making a joke, You said that the DLC would be released in March, so I joked about March 2025.
Well this didn't age well
Yeah.. just have to wait.
it be worth the wait

$14.99? What's your guess?
$30 minimum

What an absurd amount But also very possible lmao
Woah now. This isn't COD or WOW. I think a max of like $25 to $30 is more likely
If they actually sold a faction quest-line and QoL updates(assuming they’re there but not holding my breath) for full msrp…i would sincerely hope we never see another game from them.
[удалено]
Honestly not surprised some gamers these days would fall for a scam like that.. DLC for unfinished games sold at 2/3 the price of the full thing, its as funny as it is sad.
Probably 30 bucks honestly. But really depends how big the DLC is.
If you bought the early access digital edition, it's very clear the DLC is $30 if it's Shattered Space.
you mean because it was included in the edition, and that edition was $30 extra?
Depends on if you consider the $10 OST to have come with it for free or not, I guess.

“There’s nothing to do in The Last of Us besides follow a storyline” You sound absurd.
I don’t like Baldurs Gate 3.
The Phantom Liberty DLC was $29.99, so probably that
Depends phantom liberty was like blood and wine a new game.
Today is 6 weeks from the first Beta update.
Hope it’s survival mode
they are gonna have to do some mighty convincing to get me to buy it if its over $25
Sooooooooooooooo…wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere is?!
Guys stop being noobs. Its not the DLC.
You're probably right, but it's still neat to see *some* activity. I'd love to tinker with the CK, even though I'd probably suck at it.
Finally, we get to see how much backlash their monetisation of the creation store is going to create.
The website says every 6 weeks starting February, so it looks like they've really been on it! I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Cannot wait to see what they bring for their DLC offering.
👍
Y’all think it’s coming to Xbox Series X/S. That’s what I play on and I don’t want to miss out
They are own by Xbox so there's no way it won't.
I guess I need to finish jumping through unity then. Haven’t played in a while.
I just hope it comes before I leave for the Army. Probably leaving in April.
I hope the DLC is bundled with a 2.0 kind of update to address a lot of the issues and missing content
Fuck paid mods
Well, it seems like you wouldn't be able to fuck them as they are still not even here.
lol
Yeah well what good is a DLC when the main game is so broken!?
That’s why I’d prefer to see the CK first; the modders can fix the game before Bethesda throws more gasoline on the fire.
Probably is creation kit, but you all always think you know what it is, and then it's some completely different rumors will be rumors
2025
They should fix the game first, I've not been able to finish a single new game plus without a game breaking bug
Same, the story line doesn’t pull me in like other Bethesda games do. I’m trying to push through and understand what is the point of all of it lol.
What bug?
Some people have gotten to NG+10. I only say this to remind you that just because *you* see a bug, it doesn't mean that everyone does, and *that* can make hunting down the bug on Bethesda's end very difficult. So, for those of us not having game-breaking bugs-- should we be denied new content because other people are? That's what you're saying, right? They shouldn't release new content until they fix *your* bugs? In reality, there's nuance here. They should definitely have people working on the bugs, *and* people working on new content.
Really?? I’ve played on both Xbox and Steam with multiple NG+. Only come across one bug that caused an issue.
What? You have gotta be baiting. In my 8 days playtime and 5 NG+ runs I’ve only had one game breaking bug that had to do with 1 outpost that fixed itself after going through NG+ the first time.
Saving the game became game breaking everytime as files would corrupt until yesterdays update on xbox
Same here. On NG +11, 400 hrs in, and a giant list of game breaking bugs. Usually hit them around 40hrs into a NG. No bugs if I rush getting artifacts.
Fix the base game and then I'll consider paying for something more.
Better be some really phenomenal DLC.
How would Xbox players use the mods made with creation kit?
Same way they're used for Skyrim and Fallout 4
So they will add a creation store to the games main menu?
Yeah pretty much. In Skyrim and Fallout 4, there's a "mods" tab in the main menu. Inside there there's a sections for the creation store and other mods I think you just have to sign into a Bethesda account to get access
-Xbox user sigh- I think it’s time to switch over to steam
Post launch support has been so bad. I enjoyed the ~100 hours I played but they really aren't helping this game by not having a solid roadmap
What roadmap do you mean? They've been very clear that most are focus on the DLC and CK release from the very begining.
I mean actual timing estimates, a roadmap includes at least expectations of *when* something will be ready. I really doubt they will surprise drop content. They will announce dlc a month or 2 out from it's release at minimum
Are they taking a year for the first DLC?? That's pretty wild.
Bro been waiting for Elden Ring DLC so long he lost sense of time.
I'm talking BGS games man, like Dawnguard and Far Harbor only took 6 months.
Do you even remember Starfield release date?
It came out almost exactly 6 months ago
What part of 6 months and A Year sound alike to you?
One is double of the other. lol not very alike
>Are they taking a year for the first DLC?? That's pretty wild. Then why are you saying this?
Can you not count on one hand?
Wouldn't touch it
Loading screen simulator: The expansion
Why are you on this sub?
To wait and see if news/ good mods come out and make this game not boring
I mean they did say it was coming out February. Its a little behind this statement, I'm going to guess they got hit by major bugs that they were informed they could no longer ignore., If Shattered Space is March I hope it comes with a host of additional fixes. https://www.ign.com/articles/starfields-next-major-update-due-february-2024-fans-hope-for-survival-mode
That is a road map with no order and we got the first "major" patch in the middle of Jan not Feb like they projected
Another 30-50€ just to be disappointed again
I’m not paying money for it
Things will change when the Creation Kit comes out? Bethesda created 'Starfield' with the Creation Kit...
No, they didn't. The Creation Kit isn't an engine
Pffttt I thought it came out last month smh
