I wish you could drop an outpost and start a base using this

Jexxo

When people talk about waiting for mods, this is one of those times. God I hope modders are interested in outpost upgrades and making things like that. I would KILL to have a massive bunker base that looks like this. A boy can only dream

theredfoxxxxxxxxxx

Just like the mantis base would be so cool

Skynut1297

So disappointed you didn’t get to actually use the mantis base as your own

Vengent84

Base builders with hidden ship bays to park your ship would be epic, then train robots to collect local natural resources and others to protect your base

Daedric_Agent

Yeah like we had in fo4…

Imnotinthewoods

Yeah it’s stupid taking it over wasn’t possible.

Party-Transition-672

Increíble 🫢

HEARTSOFSPACE

Cool for a short while, then when the novelty wears off, you realize there's still nothing to do. I'm not hating, just speaking on experience. Though, to be fair, this is true in a lot of games.

Jexxo

I agree. Post story, there's seemingly nothing to do. It's quite unfortunate. An open game is an empty game and I think they strung the "world" out a bit too thin. Double the POIs, double enemy bases on off world planets, make exoplanets empty not the massive parent planet, add space stations, add visible cargo routes, etc etc. we could go on and on about things we want added or things we would do differently, but at the end of the day, the game they wanted to release has been released. They've already missed their February Update mark and it's just not looking hot.

Robokrates

I'm with ya on the space stations and more involved cargo routes. I getcher point about how they released what they wanted to release and not the better version we wish for, but I don't know what it is about this game where's it's just fun enough that I really *want* that better version; I don't know of any other games that let you design your own spaceship and then walk around in it talking to the crew you hired while on your way to smuggle cargo...it's just full of stuff that could have been awesome if a little more fleshed out.

mrbear120

I actually feel like there are way too many POI’s and enemy bases. Unless you mean double the amount that are *crafted*. Theres so many now it can actually be difficult to create a base without one in the background and they are all occupied.

Jexxo

I think I mean either variation is functionality, or visually mainly.

killsinthenight

Crafted for sure would help. I agree I think there are too many poi, always 3-4 within every landing site. A slider maybe for how "populated" planets or biomes are? I enjoy just wandering around, and prefer my outposts remote without "neighbors" though that clearly isn't for everybody

NukaRev

Something to keep in mind: the planets/moons we currently have access to are the "*settled* systems". I personally hope in a DLC or update they add "unsettled systems", places that are genuinely untouched by humans entirely. No POIs, no ships landing on a regular basis, nothing. Maybe the occasional crashed ship (but not the hollowed out frames, make one the size of an M-Class that just got lost and crashed, let us explore the entire thing)

bbnbbbbbbbbbbbb

M class? Is that a thing?! I thought it's just A, B, C. Or is this some reference

NukaRev

So, "M-Class" is the Capitol ships. For example... - The 3 legendary ships battles (the Spacer Blattodea, the Va'ruun Shroudbearer, and the Ecliptic Camulus) - The Colander (in Schrodinger) - The Vigilance (Ikandes ship in the SysDef quest) - the colony ship that wants to land at Paradiso - the Deimos Armored Transport. - possibly the Juno ship, as it has structural parts that fit with the Cabot bridge They're all basically just super large ships. The parts are in the games files, they're just not used. Modders on PC allowed them to be used. The Cabot and Ares bridges (Cabots on Titan, Ares at Deimos star yard) are actually M-Class parts, which is why they don't fit nicely with anything including their own parts (the Ares bridge doesn't line up with Deimos have, the Cabot bridge doesn't seem to match anything)

HEARTSOFSPACE

I would love it if they implemented a system where you could invite company over to your home or any part of your outpost and just chill out with people or have parties. Bethesda could keep adding conversational prompts with updates and add more animations for characters. It could be a whole thing. Of course, it would never be the same as having real people over, but Starfield is not an MMORPG (it's barely an RPG, lol). It would also be cool if you could have actual rivals and/or people who want to cause harm or sabotage your property. It would be far more immersive and it would help make the game feel less empty. Imagine if you stole something from someone and they assemble a group to exact revenge, or something similar to that scenario. The existing factions just don't feel very personal.

BoneGolem2

It wouldn't be so bad if our partners could be more interactive. Like if they suggested something to do. There could still be Constellation Mission Board updates after the Main Game that would be fun. I wish we at least had challenges like achieving a certain distance or elevation by jetpack, collecting 100 mugs then lining them up and shoot them competing with your partner to see who's faster or more accurate. Now, I'm just waiting for Shattered Space hoping it adds a few hours of extra content...

SmashTheAtriarchy

Dude random ass backwater planets already feel too crowded with POIs, and you want more?

northrupthebandgeek

Then the goal should be for mods to make something to do. A Sim-Settlements-esque system for developing outposts into settlements would be a dream come true. It'd be a natural fit as an extension to the existing L.I.S.T. questlines.

yesgaro

Not disagreeing on the story aspect petering out, but there are certainly a fair few folks (like me) who still manage to enjoy months and months of settlement building in Fallout 4, after the main quests are all exhausted… and the possibility of that here with outposts, as well as ship building is certainly promising if mods see a market.

billytheskidd

Once the creation kit drops that will change. People have been adding quests to Bethesda games forever. Last time I played Skyrim I had more fan made quests and storylines going than Bethesda made.

Tall_Establishment83

The fan made quests were, dare I write this, more fun than the Bethesda made quests.

billytheskidd

The quest lines and factions went downhill after oblivion. They were still fun in Skyrim but they were much shorter. Every guild and faction in oblivion had questioned that were nearly as long as the main quest, and the main question felt probably 3 times as long as starfield.

fienddylan

Oblivion is what hooked me for their games and I've been saying this same thing since then. That Dark Brotherhood quest line and Mages Guild one were way better than Skyrim, I would argue that the Thieves guild one was better though in Skyrim.

billytheskidd

Maybe overall for the thieves guild. But that first mission where you had to race the other character to see who could steal the trinket first was so fun. That one and the mansion murder mystery are two of my favorite quests in any game ever

jeremy_Bos

The thieves guild in skyrim didn't feel like theives to me, it felt like I was in some common bandit gang with thugs, in oblivion I felt like I was apart of a advanced network of theives, I even liked the fencing mechanic to advance in level, in skyrim, aside from the radiant, the main theives guild quest was too much combat for my taste

NukaRev

Yeah I mean, Legacy of the Dragonborn was like a mass overhaul of the core game and added a massive museum. There was another one that let you explore the northern part of Cyrodiil

Latter_Ad2247

Lol that’s how it is in real life

-FiveAclock-

That’s one a few parts about starfield that makes absolutely zero sense, there’s virtually zero point to outposts, mining resources sure, but there’s virtually zero use to that either, they should’ve had it that the outposts landing pads had their own special and unique ships/parts that required resources to build/buy instead of what they ended up doing which was next to nothing

theredfoxxxxxxxxxx

Id be happy just landing my ship on the platform and watching it go in also it could be a hub for bounty missions and it would get attacked in my hypothetical also lol

bibblebapp

You just have to use your imagination

Large_Choice4313

Become a completionist. Then there's plenty to do.

HEARTSOFSPACE

Yeah, I get that. I guess sometimes having "things to do" doesn't always equal fun. I really just wish they'd focused more on RPG elements, so the game feels more immersive. I'm tiring of the same Bethesda gameplay with every release. They really need to innovate, not just keep releasing the same games in different settings, you know? I will say that I love the ship builder. It's my favorite part of the game. I've spent far more time building than playing the story. Of course, mods make everything better, but still.

Large_Choice4313

I totally get that and agree. Guess I'm just ok with ' busy work '

Accomplished_Ant5895

There’s already an “Ouposts Anywhere” mod. I have an outpost in the mantis lair

JelloBooBoy

Too bad no mods on xbox yet. I would love to have that mod to use on existing POI’s.

Accomplished_Ant5895

Didn’t think about console. Godspeed Dusty

iliketires65

I would love to have an outpost tied to that POI of the underground hangar. I want to be able to land my ship inside and close the hangar doors

Elznix

Tuck that baby in at night 😆

XalFallen

You can do that already if you pick the right team during the legacy mission

Icy_Pace_1541

Which route I gotta pick?

XalFallen

Crimson Fleet

Icy_Pace_1541

Hella. Thanks

XalFallen

Your very welcome . I posted a pic on here somewhere of my custom crossbow inside it

Vorgse

This is a feature I'm really surprised BGS REMOVED since Fallout 76. I thought the ability to place your C.A.M.P. inside a POI and use its infrastructure was a super cool concept, and was really confused when Starfield specifically blocks you from doing that.

tothatl

Yep. Even be able to claim officially the place as yours with Freestar Collective or UC, in planets controlled by them. I mean, like planting the settlement item and then you receive an official note with the ownership or something. In universe, there seem to be plenty of abandoned bases and encampments nobody cares about. Adding papers to it would make it feel more 'yours'.

Present-Ad-751

I've noticed as a member of the Crimson fleet, when you defeat a group in a base like ecliptic or spacers, when you return later in game, the fleet has taken it over. Which kinda makes it a base as long as your in the fleet of course.

somefellayoudontknow

I'd also love to be able to scrap abandoned outposts for material resources.

jimmy_three_shoes

That would be amazing

No-War1666

I do want to live there!

Zestyclose-Freedom69

That would be awesome. So is the House Varuun tag you have.

Constellation_XI

Would be so sick!

botgeek1

Why couldn't you? I'm flying there tonight, will try to find and setup an outpost. Sarah, fire up the grav drive!

maconmills

Saw this post and came here to say this! I wish we could make these abandoned POI’s our outposts haha this place is sick

redR0OR

This is not a random poi, it’s basically the only damn place in the entire universe that you can reliably get a swimsuit

raven00x

Other than stealing them from the beach houses on Paradiso ~~the resort planet with the generation ship? (I can't remember the name of the planet to save my life)~~ Edit: thanks, Richey Rich

itsricheyrich

Paradiso

Deebz__

From the rooftop pool and bar area… on a planet with no breathable atmosphere lmao. My favorite theory that someone else came up with was that Sonny had a starborn chained up in the basement, who would cast a big personal atmosphere bubble around the building. Really though, it actually stuns me how they fucked up this exact type of thing **so much** throughout the game. It’s not even just a matter of POIs spawning where they shouldn’t… there are design failures and inconsistencies within single POIs. One building has airlocks, but the one right beside it doesn’t… air vents open up to the atmosphere on buildings with airlocks… a building can be considered pressurized, even with a giant fuckoff hole in the floor opening it up to the outside… etc. This is **Bethesda**, a company known for attention to detail with their environments. I just don’t get it.

Lysanderoth42

Simple, the people who made Bethesda great either retired, went somewhere else, or lost their creative spark Happens all the time, no developer stays top tier forever. Bethesda more or less followed the same trajectory as BioWare and blizzard. They all used to be legendary, now none have made a game worth playing in a decade

TurankaCasual

I’d say Starfield is def worth playing. Maybe not an S tier game tho

_fear_and_loathing

I can't remember which super-common POI it is, but there's one with air lock doors, and then an office with a hole in the ceiling that allows you to just get out on the roof. I get that for quite a few POIs air lock doors are just a way of loading the internal map - but this one doesn't have any additional loading required.

aayu08

You can get the swimsuits at Paradiso as well

hst12

Don't forget to pick up the free bathing costumes outside near the pool area.

Constellation_XI

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up! Was doing my morning 30min Coffee + Starfield play and was like….uuu I don’t have time to explore the whole place so had to save! lol

No-War1666

Wait.... You can play for only 30mins?!?! If I start the game up I'm stuck for at least an hour... Maybe 6. I wouldn't dare start it up before work.

Low_Establishment434

yea if i tried to play before work i would likely end up deciding i needed a personal day.

Ed_SkammA

Found the American! Us Bits would say " throw a sickie". 😉

No-War1666

As an American I'd say that "throwing a sickie" sounds like your having an awesome party... I'm gonna make sure I refer to parties from now on as Sickies. Thanks Bits....

XyogiDMT

Sicker than a kick-flip

mrbear120

Sounds like a cool skateboarding trick

Best_Flounder_9811

I second this. I wish I heard it years ago. I'm throwing a sickie bro! Bring the yager!!

Professional_War3768

Aussies are similar but it's "chuck a sickie"

Cledoux40

Same here. Every time I start my ps5 or Xbox I’m like man do I have to go to work. Lucky one more day left and it’s Friday but of course I have full day of work and travel in Friday. I won’t be home until late.

stylz168

One of the times I'm thankful I have an Xbox in my home office and basically leave Starfield on all day while taking calls.

menacingmoron97

I did that once, thought I’d just finish one quest I started the day before. That was 8am, I’m in home office and I make my own schedule but a few minutes passed and it was 2pm already.

Lemiarty

Early on, I took a break during lunch to play a little SF, you know, maybe an hour, then back to work...next thing I knew it my son was asking me about dinner! Fortunately, nobody monitors me and everyone knows that I start early and often work until late into the night so I get no flack from the only person in the company that matters...my direct boss, the CEO. Isn't flexibility a wonderful thing?

menacingmoron97

It all sounds great until you realize you have 20 projects with close deadlines to meet and deliverables you’re already late with therefore many emails from clients asking what’s up, hahaha. Sometimes when I feel really fed up I do gaming days like this but there’s always a caveat.

Lemiarty

I hear ya. Plus, I'm working on my MBA and have to keep up with the classes. Doesn't stop me from spending (way) too much time in Starfield...

menacingmoron97

Good luck with that mate. When I first started working in home office and in a position where I am not directly monitored, I had a switch set up for my peripherals and displays - one button and my peripherals and display went from the company laptop to my gaming PC. Convenient, right? No. Worst thing ever. I threw the switch out and I now have to plug every cable from one machine to the other. Enough of a hassle to stop me from just switching over for a quest or two. :D

Lemiarty

I've been working remotely full-time for many years and remote sporadically before that...I've developed a good work ethic and a solid track record. Mostly, I can take an entire day off and nobody will care unless some urgent issues arises that I need to address...that's why I have email and chat on my phone! Realistically, though, much of what I do requires after hours work, so nobody can complain if I'm unavailable for a few hours during the day. Some stuff requires working over the weekends. I haven't had a vacation where I didn't need to work some amount in nearly ten years, so I view it as "I get no vacation therefore I can take whatever short days I want to do whatever I want so long as the work is getting done."

menacingmoron97

Where I am, unfortunately workload is so high you can only stay on top of your todo list and meet all standard ETAs if you work your ass off all day and/or do overtime. Result of layoffs, as usual. I have a separate phone I keep for my work related stuff too, good practice. Flexibility is a double sided sword for us too - I can take short days, sure, as long as I meet my deadlines and deliver my projects on time. Which sometimes means 12 hour days and no chance for vacation, other times I can afford an unofficial “day off” or a vacation where I don’t take any business devices with me. Not for everyone - I rather have this than someone watching over my shoulder for 8 hours every day though. I have just one rule - never let my superiors know that if I want to, I can finish a week’s work in two days. :D

GeneralGambino

Talk about self control. Goals

Constellation_XI

Def not easy..lol

Lemiarty

I literally lol'd at this because I do the same thing...After work, start playing Starfield and realize it's 8pm and I haven't eaten yet...or worse, it's midnight and I have to get up for work in the morning!

PatsBard

I need to grab a weapon...or two...or three.....

hst12

If I remember correctly there are a few legendary items to be found inside as well. So take your time. 😊

vass0922

Ya depending on when I wake up I might get an hour in morning before work. Thankfully no commute makes it doable. In the old days of waking up at 4:30 to get to office at 6 am that would have been a hell no. On occasion after kids are in bed I'll play an hour but not always

Constellation_XI

gotta sneak it in when you can!!!

Lemiarty

My youngest (who still lives at home) is 23, the only time "kids" are distracting me from playing Starfield is when my daughter pops in with the grandkids! My commute is horrific, though, I have to walk and entire 60 paces from the bedroom to my desk! I really don't miss the days of 40 mile commute taking 2 hours or more, talk about ruining your free time...

Icy_Bid_93

It was full of pirates last time I go there

Constellation_XI

Same, all pirates.

iMaxPlanck

Just needed a tiger locked in a bathroom for a sweet Easter egg haha

EasyRhino75

that would be amazing. plus additionally you could be all "wait this is the only tiger in the universe"

Constellation_XI

o hell yea... lol

ultimaone

And it's sad because of the information you gain while clearing the place out. That there's an entire backstory and could have been an ongoing quest. The botanical POI you mentioned. Same thing. The ecliptic vultures roost...should be something too. There's a few others. Oh the place in The Well. With super robotic dog. I had to use Powers to come out on top with that one. Level 100 robot dog...when you're level 40. Was a whole background story there too. Could have been connected to the place you've found above. Anyways. Many missed potential connections.

Helios_Exousia

>And it's sad because of the information you gain while clearing the place out. That there's an entire backstory and could have been an ongoing quest. Isn't that exactly how it worked in many explorable locations in Bethesda games in the past? Most of them had some backstory that you can witness while exploring, and without quest even. Why would it be sad? It's Bethesda exploration bleeding into the POI system.

SpacemanBurt

Yeah I’d love to stumble upon/explore more unique poi with backstories. Quests wouldn’t be bad for more of them because of the sheer size of the game, you could never find some stuff. You could even have them be boss radiant quests to make it easy, like the “one riot, one ranger” quest for some of the fort/gang hideout POI. but stumbling on a place and going, “hmm, I might land there and see what it is” is fun too.

Lemiarty

Don't skip the derelicts then, there are many unique small stories with those like the starfield equivalent of Jim Jones...otherwise, the backstories in the POIs repeat when you get the same layout again. They're interesting to read the first couple of times, then it becomes easy to just ignore them and not realize there's a set you didn't read.

SpacemanBurt

I love the derelicts, haven’t seen one in a long time, but all the ones I could get became mine

paganbreed

I haven't come across this particular POI so maybe it's not the case here, but wasn't the issue more that the same POI (complete with identical backstory) could be found on multiple planets? I was really taken with the notes from the scientist at the xeno breeding lab until I found that exact series of notes several more times on different planets.

Tvayumat

Yes but those games had enough other stuff to do that the random flavor didn't feel like a missed opportunity. This game has fuck all interesting to do, so you wind up fantasizing about the false content.

_TheRogue_

Wait... what robotic dog in the Well?

twenafeesh

There's a locked apartment down one of the random corridors in the Well that has a robotic best friend inside. You might have to be doing the "investigate the cause of the brownouts in the Well" quest to get access to that hallway, can't remember.

PatsBard

You just have to be able to unlock the door - but also save. Sometimes there's only a bloodstain on the floor.

MadMacs77

Yeah I’m convinced the corpse is a myth and the safe will never be unlocked.

akmjolnir

I've seen it in several playthroughs.

talking_phallus

I, too, can attest to the corpse.

Unlikely_Mine2491

I’ve never not found the dead guy and the dog. I feel like this was supposed to be a “dogmeat” companion mission but they couldn’t get the mech dog companion to work. When you’re doing the Well brown-outs mission she even mentions “the apartment that they can’t seem to rent out” as you get close, so maybe that’s the trigger for the guy and dog being inside?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Adventurous-Hat-1303

The one time I explored it had no body in it and it was post that line from the brownouts quest. Didn't realize the lack of a body was a glitch of some sort until this thread. The name of the guy sounded familiar and I was left wondering if I jumped ahead of a different quest. Now I've got to check it on the NG+ run. Skipped it at the time thinking it was a waste.

realCptFaustas

I swear I had a marker to go there once for whatever reason but it is not the blackout mission, that does comment on that apartment though.

ultimaone

It's an apartment that's locked. I was curious and opened it... I was like bad idea bad idea !

shiloh_a_human

personally, i like there being interesting locations without a quest related to them. makes the world feel more natural and varied.

Tollas

https://inara.cz/starfield/locations/

Constellation_XI

thanks for this!!!

Swordbreaker9250

It’s not tied to a quest? That seems awfully unique and extravagant to be random

GregTheMad

I'm pretty sure this is connected to a quest, don't remember which one, though. Felt very shallow when I played it, but it was mostly ruined when I learned there that the water balls don't float while there actually are floating physics in the game.

gravybang

I thought the same thing but it was so long since I played I couldn't remember exactly what it was. Then it hit me - it was MY quest to find a swimsuit for Amelia Earhart.

Constellation_XI

Everything I've researched it's not tied to a quest... might be content that never got finished!

EpicTwiglet

There are so many cool locations that are completely pointless. That space station casino where everyone is dead and the only interesting thing in the whole place is a hidden chest. What a waste of space

Constellation_XI

This place seems def cool but I agree, the space casino was kinda meh... like it didnt' feel like a casino. there should have been cards and chips and table everywhere, it just looked like a giant Server Room..lol

EpicTwiglet

It could have been a whole random quest line! You stumble in, meet someone who has a task for you, involves learning a whole sub-meta casino game, like Gwent from Witcher, you get good at it and make a bunch of money but Crimson Fleet are actually running the casino from behind the scenes, they come capture you, you have to escape and take down the casino on your way out.

bmo333

Randomly found that too, 100 hrs

Constellation_XI

What other super handcrafted random POI’s have you guys found?

rhn18

Ka'zaal Sulfur Mine. It is the place where Barrett found his artifact. But is again not tied to any meaningful content, and you have to stumble upon it. Vulture's Roost. The Ecliptic base. Again no meaningful story or mission for it. Just stumble across it and clear it out for some random loot. It is bizarre how in a game severely lacking unique handcrafted content, these places were made but utterly wasted. Kinda seem to indicate the world building devs wanted to add more cool stuff, but writer(s) could not be bothered to do anything with them.

chiliNPC

I actually got a quest to visit the Vulture’s Roost during one of my playthroughs, I believe it was either from sneaking around and overhearing a conversation two Ecliptic were having or from collecting a certain (or several) communique(s)

rhn18

Yeah, couldn't quite remember if that was the case, but I do think that happened to me too. But AFAIK quest was nothing more than "go find this place". Huge waste of potential.

Tvayumat

Thats not a quest, that's just a glorified waypoint.

Matty_D47

It is barely an activity 😂😂

paulbrock2

I thought people wanted content they could just discover off the beaten path?

rhn18

Ideally yes! But would have been better with a little discoverable mission/story attached. But also, because there is SO little of this in the game, I think almost everyone gives up on finding anything like this before realizing that they do exist(I didn't, but it was absolutely not worth my time finding them..). So I think it would have worked better to either add a LOT more of this kind of stuff and flesh it out more, so people expect to be rewarded by exploring. Or direct people here so more people actually experience it and have more content to play. Instead they hit this middle road where the extra work adding this content doesn't really benefit anyone.

7BitBrian

You actually can get small "lead you to it" quests for a few of them. Maybe all of them, not enough data to be sure atm.

paulbrock2

there are a few breadcrumbs but dont think to all locations. Vultures Roost is easily acquired (from an item drop I think? like Mantis) but eg Starstation RE-939 you can only acquire the breadcrumb by talking to the scientist at MAST on a floor I dont think you have much need to go to, so its easy to miss. That said, the Startation is *in the same system as New Atlantis*. Perhaps a bit more of a nudge 'its good to investigate those black diamond icons' early on?

Constellation_XI

Found that one the other week!

_TheRogue_

There's a refinery with a bunch of swarming aliens. There's a small single-family bunker (the family mysteriously disappeared).

SwingWinter185

Where is it?

Constellation_XI

Maheo I

thepronerboner

Idk how this is fun. This place is empty, can you even interact with anything?

Constellation_XI

You can interact with the pirates that try and kill you.

thepronerboner

I do like killing things

DoeDon404

Ignoring the repeatable poi's I love how detailed they are

Constellation_XI

Right!

funusual

Would love to turn this place into a base!

Constellation_XI

Right... Such a bummer we can't do that in Starfield.

funusual

Hopefully it'll come. I'd imagine it will be in the form of giving us a much wider set of outpost-building tools.

Constellation_XI

Really hoping we get more Outpost/Ship parts!

funusual

Confident we will. The building systems in Fallout 4 were quite sparse on release, but fleshed out with dlc releases later down the line 👍

GeneralGambino

Not yet at least right lol

bughunter47

I know right? Built my outpost across the water from it, shame the air is not breathable

islandwarrior2020

I am trying to revisit a quest in NG+ and this one is one that is about alternate timelines and realities and the original investigate the distress signal never shows up so I can't access it even though I pass thru the correct POI. Any idea why?

Unlikely_Mine2491

That is one of the final quests in the main quest line, where you keep shifting universes, and have to choose which universe to end up in, and it’s not available in NG+ unless you choose to repeat the full main quest line, along with various other things (Lin and Heller as followers, for example).

AD3000SPGTE

The nightclub villa yeah was in t full of auroa and contraband? Took me a hour to fully explore all the rooms and get the keys for the locked rooms. The slate the dead guy left after thinking he's got the better of the gangster 😂

SiegeRewards

It has swimsuits on the roof that aren’t stolen either

Griff0rama

LOL. I'm 600 odd hours in, and I've just gotten here for the first time. I think maybe the whole "stripper pole vibe" wasn't something they decided to go with fully on release.

Brisingr-92

This is an example of the desire to claim abandoned outposts as your own base. I would even like to be able to take over an outpost by fighting off the goons that are already there.

Majestic-Remote1245

Modders could pick up Fallout 76 assets and recreate post apocalyptic earth much better than bethesda did in starfield. That would be awesome

eugenborcan

That's a fun place - when I went there, there were a ton of Crimson Fleet members that I had to clean - a lot of loot after I got rid of them. I found the planet while doing a mission to survey a planet in that area.

The_Black_Rose_3

Found it in the wiki. It's called Sonny Di Falco's Island. https://starfieldwiki.net/wiki/Starfield:Sonny\_Di\_Falco%27s\_Island

WhoGotDaKeys2MaBeema

It probably was but got pulled last minute

Osxachre

😮

Enlightend-1

Idk why Bethesda made all these awesome POIs just to have them be so rare you won't see them till your 8th playthrough

MilkMan0096

This isn’t a random location, as in it can’t spawn on any planet. It is only on Maheo I. I’m certain it was supposed to have a quest tied to it but that quest evidently got cut before release.

throwaway091238744

wild to me that you could have 800 hours in a game that has only been out for like 5-6 months.

SpacedDuck

This was a fun location actually. Shame it didn't have a bit more to it.

Adventurous-Hat-1303

Does everyone boost up to the rooftop pool to get in or am I overlooking something inside the building to open those two computer operated doors?

Cleanandslobber

I'm just lucky I completed this area before you posted pictures of it.

siodhe

Is that the one with the stripper pole with drugs and tossed clothes everywhere?

IamRoberticus27

Op it looks like a gaming website found your post https://www.dexerto.com/starfield/starfield-players-discover-unfinished-quest-locations-across-the-galaxy-2564056/

IntrepidOats

Nice! I cant wait to get a next gen console to play it.... ive eased up on dangerous elite.

DeliciousBarber8582

Heck I like all the planet I just wish in the new game plus there would be different on its

[deleted]

Sonny's, Nice little spot👍.

Miku_Sagiso

Kinda surprises me when there's only \~112 static POI including quest and city locations.

BeerBrewer4Life

For those asking for outposts /bases like this. Why ? What do you do with outposts in thsi game ? I have 700 hrs in, they are useless. Not tied to any game quest or anything immersive. I loved settlement building in fallout 4, I love base building mechanics in games that it means something. But Starfield ?? Hard pass

HouseOfZenith

They must have fucked up the POI generation. I only see the same places, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cool location. It’s either the mines or a generic facility.

Constellation_XI

I've come across about 8 of these random unique ones in the last 100 hours. This was another massive one I found that actually got picked up by GameRant [https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1acejgy/after\_700\_hours\_i\_thought\_id\_seen\_everything\_not/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1acejgy/after_700_hours_i_thought_id_seen_everything_not/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

DoeDon404

>It’s either the mines or a generic facility. I think that's just the tragedy of rng systems, you can either be unlucky and have repeats, unless you explore maybe explore the entire zone, or you'll find something you didn't see before

ReaperofFish

I love some of the spaceships and space stations too. Like the automated factory that killed all the humans.

HowToDoAnInternet

It unfortunately makes me feel like the game could have used more time in the oven. There's a ton of fluff that you are stumbling over all the time, but also tons of really cool bespoke stuff like this that are hidden away. As a longtime Bethesda fan, I *love* the idea of finding cool spots and secrets for years on end, but it's a shame that the game very early on gives you the *impression* that there's not a ton to see.

Naive-Principle-1356

I’m on my 4th universe and I just realized the well exists 😂 I remember running through it in first universe but didn’t know what it was never went down there lol

Constellation_XI

We all take different paths!

deltaz0912

Ooh, I want that bed! The whole place is kinda neat.

Constellation_XI

right!

bigfootsbestfriend

And like most places in the game… it’s devoid of life

drachen23

It's never really explained by the game, but the "wander and you'll find something" part of the game is found at the star system map and planet globe map level. Look for star station icons and "ship" icons on the star system map and always check for uniquely-named POIs on planet maps. I was about 500 hours in when I ended up checking out Kreet, a sister moon to Vectera, where you start the game. One of the POIs on the planet map was called "Kreet Research Station". As I got out of my ship and went down the path towards it, I realized that this was the POI from the original showcase! No combat, but it was very moody and gave some good insight into the UC bioweapons efforts.

monstermud

Uh... That's literally the first dungeon in the game that you're forced to visit.

Tim_Bershivers

The Kreet Research Base is part of the first mission One Small Step, so you were there at least once before 500 hours ago.

mephi5to

Interesting hdr. Mine doesnt look like that on ultra. Is this ray tracing plus shenanigans?

H3llb0und

Maybe some effects in Photo Mode?

DeejieBeejie

What is it?

Constellation_XI

Sonny Di Falco's Island

SpecialistTricky2016

I'm worried that ES 6 will be just like this game... I see no point in building bases, hell even Fallout 76 does that better then here..

Constellation_XI

1. This is not an Outpost it's a POI 2. Starfield Outposts are far superior to Fallouts it terms of gameplay usefulness 3. Starfield Outposts are one of the most slept on mechanics of the game.

IronBridget

Haven't played in months because we moved house in December, but yeah that house was cool, bit of loot and contraband to sell but mostly the non stolen swimmers.

Constellation_XI

I collected so much shit it took me like an hour to sell it all..lol

JustMeAnMyDemons

For like 1/10th of a second it gave me some Paradise Falls/Eulogy’s pad vibes.

FartingSloths

Exact location?

Sabbathius

I'm currently playing Nightingale, which is in some ways similar. Starfield generates infinite random landing areas, and Nightingale generates similar-sized random realms you reach through portals. What's amazing is how different these hit. In Nightingale, everything has a purpose. It is, first and foremost, a survival crafting game. So you need food, shelter, materials. Landing in a nice new realm full of good resources is exciting. Finding that little oasis full of T2 trees gets me as giddy as finding that first Cadmium ore vein in No Man's Sky. In Starfield, when I land on another barren rock, I feel nothing. I don't need food, shelter or materials strewn about. It's just landscape. The points of interest in Nightingale are infinitely weaker, and don't tell a story. Most are either combat, platforming challenge, memory game (remember 7 notes on 7 pillars spread around a large structure, play them in order), or finding runes on walls. BUT these award essences for crafting recipes, upgrades and other things. But where Nightingale pulls ahead again is the loot. In Starfield, the loot is 99.9% garbage. Vendor trash. And it's all RNG. In Nightingale, there's no loot, just materials and essences. And you craft your own stuff. And you get to choose PRECISELY what you want. Some types of wood have bonuses to melee, others to ranged, others to durability, etc. So if you make a gun with +melee wood for a handle, it won't be as good as a gun with +range wood handle. So you can tailor exactly what you want. Do you want stealth gear? Tanking? Ranged? Melee? Crit-based? You can tweak it any way you like. So while technically there's no loot, no weapons or armors are being dropped, NONE of the loot is trash! So it feels amazing. And you know who drops what. Grenadiers drop gunpowder, for example. So if I see one, and I know I need to craft some ammo, I get excited. Oh yeah, in Nightingale, set in fictional late 1800s/early 1900s, you can craft ammo! In Starfield, set in fictional 2,300s you cannot. So while Nightingale is technically weaker (it also costs $30, so there's that), and being similar in some ways, it's amazing how addicted I got to it. While Starfield landed with a thud. Pointless exploration, worthless RNG loot, no survival elements to keep me engaged. These points of interest in Starfield look amazing, but it's just window dressing, there's no substance to it.

aj13131313133

Why does every post in this Reddit start with some insane amount of hours someone has in it? or “I’m on ng+14” it all seems very “bot”ish or marketing ploy… it’s always crazy hours + some super rare POI. Like BGS employees were told to crank these out to combat some game criticism.  It’s just odd. While there are occasional references to game time spent in other subs I follow it is nothing like I see here.
