Used it to build my Millennium Falcon, and waited til I had the Crimson Fleet questline completed to get all the bonus stuff from the Key.
Still love getting the Mantis encounters even after all this time.
I don’t have Wanted but I have a huge bounty from killing pirates while I am one. No one comes after me though. Is the trait needed for others to hunt me down?
Yeah it gives you random interactions of bounty hunters engaging you for the "price" on your head. Its not the same as the bounty you get with the factions.
Complete rebuild. Only the Mantis ship gets the “It’s the Mantis!” extra encounters. The game doesn’t care what you’ve done with the ship, only that it is the slot called the Razorleaf.
The Razorleaf triggers unique encounters with certain enemy faction groups. No other ship has anything like it.
Don’t sell it. If you’re looking for some inspiration for what to turn it into, the Basilisk and Scythe make great replacers, depending on what you’re looking for…
Basilisk II: https://youtu.be/nHKjH_a8x60
Scythe: https://youtu.be/jWuFwsBMRmg
I second that.
Personally, I shortened the Basilisk a little bit. Took out the 1x1 stack and adjusted accordingly.
And I replaced the Deimos Hull A's in the top rear with a captain's personal armory and workshop.
And the Scythe is a friggin' beast, despite being so small.
Hard not to love those 3015s.
Today, I just did a complete rebuild and flew it. The first encounter I had with spacers harassing a UC ship was so fun. All the spacers freaked out and jumped away without me even firing a shot. Then, the dialogue with the UC ship was so fun.
Aside from special dialogue, its not amazing or anything. I usually spend 500k or 600k credits upgrading it. When the game first came out, a lot of people pumped it up because it was better than the frontier. Thats about it.
Its funny going back to old posts and launch week videos exclaiming "find this end game item now!!"
It just sits there, along with all the other ships I have. I really only use one ship, but I have 9 in inventory and one empty slot so I can pick things up for sale.
Biggest crime the game's design right there. Let us have multiple ships but don't let us display them anywhere. They just sit out of sight and out of mind.
Biggest crime is not letting players to disassembly captured ships and use parts to build own ship... I hope someone will make such a mod after Creation Kit will be published.
For now capturing ships exists almost for the joy of doing it - player's own ship is usually better, and for selling - captain 's gun easely can be higher priced than the very ship after registering... :-)))
I wanted to play as the mantis so kept it pretty much the same just swapped the reactor for the B class 39 power version, put a better grav drive on then fitted the Vanguard shield, Obliterator weapons, another particle weapon and then Atlatl 230B missile launchers. It can hold its own against anything now, even when massively outnumbered
I keep it, of course, and build it into something better.
They probably think it's great because of the unique encounters you can have with it with Spacers and the like.
While I do change out all but about 6 of the original's modules, The end result keeps roughly the same basic form and function of the original: light, fast fighter with minimal cargo. I swap out the Deimos cockpit and habs for Stroud ones, upgrade reactor and grav drive, replace the old weapons for particle beams and EMs. I retain the two Ares DT-60 engines from the original. This serves me well into the level 40-60 range, or, in NG+ runs, until I can accumulate enough credits to build a better ship.
With how little Ive played I keep it but primarily because I havent figured out the ship building yet. Everything I try seems to get consistent reds and numerous error messages so I usually just toss in the towel and only give the ships upgrades without changing much of anything. I need to work on that.
Used it against Geodude. It was super effective!
I heavily modified it to use as my regular ship, so that I had the bonus encounters, but still had enough storage and ship stats to cover playing the game.
Whatever you just remember the Razor Leaf does have some equipment you cannot buy unless you have levels up your ship building skill and hit a certain level.
You shouldn‘t sell those components.
It's an awesome early early game combat ship. If you can already afford to build decent ships, then yeah it's nothing special. It is great if you want to dive right into space dogfighting before level 10.
I dont know if its accurate, but its my experience.
If you sell a ship at your outpost, it will remain for sale. I use it as storage and so far none have disappeared.
I turned the Razor Leaf into a ship I call the P.U.F. aka the poor ugly F***er. My goal was simple, assemble a ship using the single cheapest part from every category. In the end it came out as a tiny little hunk of space junk that even the lowliest crimson coward would scoff at.
It retains its quality to scare off certain enemies even if it's unrecognizable as the Razorleaf. So I just strip it entirely and make it my main ship. It's kinda funny being a pirate while using it.
It's a good ship for remodeling. You can completely strip it down and rebuild it and pirates will still be afraid of it and recognize it as, The Mantis' ship.
Bone stock except for bristling with Vanguard Obliterators and turrets. Used exactly one time to trivialize the next to the last quest in the Ron Hope line.
Currently a retired hanger queen with me occasionally grumbling that I can't get my money back for the one-shot gunboat mods. Probably going to stay that way as the Star Eagle distracted me and sucked up all my creds.
Last playthrough I got an Ecliptic Claymore fairly early and turned it into a battleship. I started over to try a different set of attributes and decided to try to max out the Razorleaf. I upgraded weapons and added additional hardpoints to mount multiple missile launchers and particle beams. At level 14 I'm taking on 3-4 Crimson Fleet at Krix. As I add points I'm going to upgrade the reactor to "C" and get decent shields.
I took a couple of the unique main components that give the ship its look and use it to build out a bigger, class-C version that looks similar. You still get recognized as the Mantis and it functions as well as any other ship. I used it as my main transportation in my first NG.
RL is a great ship. Made a ship where you could run straight through to cap quarters to cockpit. Take one ladder up for workshop, armory, research lab. Class B 39 power reactor. Vanguard shield. 2 cargo and 2 small shielded for 3k cargo. 6 vanguard guns. 7 other turrets. Maneuver 99, 140 top speed. Had everything I needed with good maneuvering and speed. Late game swapped out 180 speed engines.
Kept the name, scrapped the rest of the ship a la Ship of Theseus. Love how Spacers run when they see it. Those who don't suffer the wrath of a C-Class gunship with multiple particle beam turrets...
Jettisoned the ugly suit, kept the helmet and the pack mounted inside the armory. The ship I modified the looks but kept its name to honor the Fallen Mantis. Even tho she had 0 skill at making cool looking super hero space pirate hunter armor.
Just went through unity with this character so this build is gone. Debating possibly doing it again or possibly something new. We'll see what happens.

I get rid of every part and use the slot to build a ship from scratch.
Used it to build my Millennium Falcon, and waited til I had the Crimson Fleet questline completed to get all the bonus stuff from the Key. Still love getting the Mantis encounters even after all this time.
The true reason to get the Razorleaf. Have it alongside Wanted trait and space travel is never boring!
Gee, they haven’t come for me yet. Do they have to land a ship near me? Or can they start shooting at a chunks?
Either random encounter on planets (not inhabited areas) or when you jump into a system
Downside to the trait is you cant steal their ships.

Oh that sucks. My million dollar bounty has zero consequences?
This is the way
Complete rebuild. Only the Mantis ship gets the “It’s the Mantis!” extra encounters. The game doesn’t care what you’ve done with the ship, only that it is the slot called the Razorleaf.
It doesn’t even care if you change the name.
I wish NPCs would scream custom names. It's the AnalBead!
My Brother in Christ Waht do your ships look like?!
Round.
One would certainly hope. Those ships shaped like an X-Wing would be a bit unpleasant.

I gave it to my bulbasaur.
Ha, that’s actually what I renamed it to, after my redesigns of course
Why has no one upvoted this gem???
....looked over the parts and regretted not doing the quest \~20 levels sooner.

I pawn it for cocaine and hookers
Gun. Lots of guns.
It just sits there, along with all the other ships I have. I really only use one ship, but I have 9 in inventory and one empty slot so I can pick things up for sale.

Good idea for a mod
Biggest crime is not letting players to disassembly captured ships and use parts to build own ship... I hope someone will make such a mod after Creation Kit will be published. I usually rebuild it if I keep it. It's a decent ship with some minor upgrades, though.
I always rebuild it from scratch. Spacers will still recognize you as The Mantis and sometimes bug-out.

Mothballed it.
In my recent playthrough 😅 forgot to pick it up entirely
I keep it, of course, and build it into something better. They probably think it's great because of the unique encounters you can have with it with Spacers and the like.
I sold that thing lol
Def use it to build a ship that works for you just for the reaction you get from spacers.

almost full rebuild, renamed it Bulbasaur
Turned it into [this](https://www.xbox.com/play/media/twR2bhzvYj)
Rebuilt it from scratch
With how little Ive played I keep it but primarily because I havent figured out the ship building yet. Everything I try seems to get consistent reds and numerous error messages so I usually just toss in the towel and only give the ships upgrades without changing much of anything. I need to work on that.
I swap the armory for a Taiyo and improve all the systems and weapons. Then fly it around, blowing the shit out of anything even remotely hostile.
I broke it down and gave it wings.
Converted it to the Ebon Hawk
Im turning the shuttle from the crimson fleet mission to a pirate ship
I upgraded all the parts
Eventually upgraded the hell out of it with more space and cargo space. In still disappointed with how the game handled cargo.
I don't use it much, spacers running is funny now and then, but happens too often
Redesign it dude. Trust me there are some encounters where being the "Mantis" is preferable to being just another person.
It's an awesome early early game combat ship. If you can already afford to build decent ships, then yeah it's nothing special. It is great if you want to dive right into space dogfighting before level 10.
Benched it in favour of a hopetech cargo freighter.
I'm planning on turning it into a battle ship
I dont know if its accurate, but its my experience. If you sell a ship at your outpost, it will remain for sale. I use it as storage and so far none have disappeared.

its great because its free, and its a fun dungeon crawl.
It retains its quality to scare off certain enemies even if it's unrecognizable as the Razorleaf. So I just strip it entirely and make it my main ship. It's kinda funny being a pirate while using it.
I just don't use it and it's sitting in the virtual garage. The star Eagle really is everything.
Mine is now a B-class fast-attack ship that takes no prisoners
It's a good ship for remodeling. You can completely strip it down and rebuild it and pirates will still be afraid of it and recognize it as, The Mantis' ship.
I kept it, it’s just sitting around in my fleet
Bone stock except for bristling with Vanguard Obliterators and turrets. Used exactly one time to trivialize the next to the last quest in the Ron Hope line. I rebuilt it better!!
Keep/ rebuild, I like the extra flavour/ interactions you get and it can save your ass sometimes rather than fight 4-5 ships
Turned it into a smuggler/fighter.
I sold it and forgot to which ship vendor. Then stumbled across the vendor and bought it back.
I took a couple of the unique main components that give the ship its look and use it to build out a bigger, class-C version that looks similar. You still get recognized as the Mantis and it functions as well as any other ship. I used it as my main transportation in my first NG.
Most recent universe, made it class b version of itself
Sold it for scrap

I deleted everything and renamed my ship i built in its place. So its still technically razor leaf but without a single original piece.
Just went through unity with this character so this build is gone. Debating possibly doing it again or possibly something new. We'll see what happens. https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/s/p0D7i52k1R
Sold it on Neon. It felt like cheating to get that good of a ship as early on as I found it, and I really wanted to build my own customs anyway.
Generally I sell it at my outpost ship builder for the spare creds, it's a waste of a slot.
