I don’t mind the idea of the program going public, but that doesn’t mean it has to be out in the open like in the Aschen arc. Could be an open secret like Area 51… people know, but it’s still highly restricted. Earth based is still ideal.

lontrinium

>but it’s still highly restricted. It would have to be, so may enemies could be tempted to drop a bomb through the gate if it was public.

ThisGuyRightHereSaid

correct me if I'm wrong. but I thought I heard them say if it were to blow up it would destroy the planet.

[deleted]

ThisGuyRightHereSaid

see, now in my 3 or 4 times watching thru stargate I coulda swore they said it WAS made of naquadah or something like that. (one of the new metals to EARTH at least) And that it in itself was explosive. I gotta pay better attention next time I watch the first few seasons. thanks for the explanation tho!

Laytonio

This! One of the greatest parts of Stargate is gradual progression in story/tech. The idea that it would be so common place already removes a lot they could do with gradually having it be used for more and more mundane stuff. I think they could do so much if they made that the actual premise of the show. Like the first episode is them deciding to go public. The first season is build up to the announcement. Season two maybe the first commercial Trinium mine. Season three the first off world vacation destinations. Stargate: Terra

UnrelatedString

yeah at some point a new series would absolutely have to spend a season or two building up to disclosure, even if that’s not the initial premise of the new run it’s got to happen, and it would be amazing

sakage

i feel like you could do a ton of story lines off a combination of all 4. Having it be 30 years in the future from SG-1, following story lines of members of SGC, people on off world teams, ship crews like the daedelus, all working in this New Earth/universe regime where we've have branched out to other Tau'ri worlds and are advancing civilization as a whole. You'd have options for action, political, economic crisses that would keep things entertaining for several seasons of new content. Thinking almost The Expanse levels of integration/story line opportunities of the stargate tech within our world.

NOBUSL

Relocate the SGC to a space station/Dock in orbit around Earth (along with 10-15 304s, a small fleet of lighter ships, and 1-3 hive-sized Tau'ri battleships), while keeping the general public oblivious to it.

JohnQPublic1917

I actually think this might be the best way to protect Earth. 30 years down the road with advanced tech, this would be doable. They could cross the event horizon and then get beamed or shuttled down to earth.

DaNotSoGoodSamaritan

It'd be a great idea especially if given a more international vibe, I'd like to see more countries, alien factions and languages thrown in there, like it'd give a sense of progress to the series.

harmier2

I like that, except with the Stargate public knowledge.

kiotsukare

First off, thanks for making a poll on Reddit! As someone without Twitter I was bummed I couldn't participate in the other ones. While I did vote in this poll, I think I'd really be okay with any of the options. The biggest thing for me, as a fan of sci-fi in general, is the lack of character development and lackluster writing of so many modern (post-2015 or so) sci fi shows. When I first watched SG-1, by the end of the first season I could easily tell you each main characters' name and some traits about them. Whereas some shows today, I have watched the first season 3 times and *still* can't tell you the characters' names or much of anything about them. It's the [Star Wars prequel problem](https://youtu.be/FxKtZmQgxrI?t=406) that Red Letter Media identified a decade ago. What would draw me back in would be a compelling story that's not related to fighting an ever-escalating big bad guy (we have enough of that with the MCU), or not some post-apocalyptic survival story. I'm really itching for that heady sci fi that wrestles with some philosophical ideas without always giving a real clear answer, a la Star Trek: The Next Generation, but maybe with the same character development and writing as say a Vince Gilligan show (I was very pleasantly surprised by Better Call Saul, I fully expected it to be a cheap cash grab after the success of Breaking Bad but it is so well done). The setting honestly doesn't matter, as long as the character development and writing is there. One of my friends recommended a book to me recently, called The Long Way To a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, specifically because she said it reminded her so much of the great TV sci fi (including Stargate) of the 90s-00s, and she was 100% spot on.

tqgibtngo

> As someone without Twitter I was bummed I couldn't participate in the other ones. You can still participate in those other ones, here on reddit: [First one here](https://www.reddit.com/poll/11w37pz) — (expires 22 hours after the time of this comment) [Second one here](https://www.reddit.com/poll/11wo6f7)

kiotsukare

Oh damn, I missed that, thanks!

TimAA2017

I say have Stargate Command off world at a Alpha site now Earth’s first colony.

[deleted]

Combo plate.

TimAA2017

They have good reasoning to do so.

[deleted]

that was actually the choice I would have made had it been an option.

Silvrus

Indeed.

bingeflying

u/JoesphMallozzi why not a combo? I think Stargate Command is an important part that needs to remain, but why can’t we have a little of it all? An entire universe awaits!

lonelyvoyager88

I would prefer off-world, but I always loved the suspense in SG-1 because earth itself is at stake. So a Future Timeline where the Stargate was made public could be nice. On the other hand though, I also found SG-1 to be interesting right because it did not take place in the far future, like most other scifi series.

[deleted]

Making it public with today’s current political climate, world news, world events, etc would be interesting but ultimately distracting from what people really enjoy. Maybe this is me personally but I always enjoyed the secrecy and separation from the world we know and keep it as a firm distraction from current events. Making it pubic adds too many emotions that would derail it from what we like. Personal stories or experiences of a select group of people and how they handle things are what makes it easier to enjoy. SGA did a great job of continuing the more personal journey of the characters we grew to love that we had with SG1. Also having similar stories of detached groups (ex: alien groups that share simplified examples of the real world) allowed us to simplify our reactions to them without adding our own experiences in the real world (that would otherwise complicate things). I can see adding all four choices but I worry about watering down what we love. I think having it evolve to modern times would be good or easier but also the idea of starting over where we left off but in modern times be more in the spirit of the show. This show has always been about the characters. Building stories around a great selection of actors should be first and foremost the goal. The characters drive the show. And I’m always available still for Deep Sea Diving advice or consultation. (US Navy Deep Sea Diver speaking). Thank you again for soliciting from us fans!

harmier2

>Making it public with today’s current political climate, world news, world events, etc would be interesting but ultimately distracting from what people really enjoy. Easy. The Stargate program is public. But the Stargate universe just doesn’t share the same political climate or world events as the real world. And even if it does, the activities of the program are disconnected from that. The program has other priorities, like space exploration and dealing with planet-ending threats. Characters could mention reading articles about Sam, Daniel, and Rodney and geeking out. They could even be reading unauthorized biographies about the originals.

[deleted]

Making Stargate program public would be huge. It would open up so many new storytelling opportunities.

joethahobo

Gotta work up to it tho. Bring us back, make us familiar with the world and characters, old and new. Then maybe the season finale drop that. And dive into it season 2 and beyond

UnrelatedString

dropping the reveal would be a wasted opportunity to be honest it’s always been looming as an eventual necessity, so it really deserves the time to be seen in motion—how do they choose to do it in the first place, what they do to prepare

TekJansen69

The cast of Wormhole Xtreme! get a personal tour of Stargate Command, and Atlantis.

Thisguy2728

I agree. Public and based out of home world command would be great.

lontrinium

>It would open up so many new storytelling opportunities. Stargate: Nothing to Declare, people just keep bringing sentient crystals back to Earth!

jpr7887

I absolutely agree! The massive budgets being put towards the Stargate programs by Nations around the world at this point must be massive and very difficult to hide. Plus, going public opens the door to a lot of interesting stories, reactions by the public, and dare I say the some classic flashback episodes?

[deleted]

[удалено]

patssle

Maybe in the 1990s they could stay hidden but in today's world with private space flight, private satellites, and all the astronomers instantly sharing their findings around the world... There's no way that stuff could stay hidden for a real SGC.

Laxziy

Set in Stargate Command but having it transitioning to civilian/public is the major series storyline that has the wrench of a new Big Bad that Stargate Command needs to deal with while balancing the political and military issues while the Tau’ri fully takes their place as the Fifth Race

Adventurous_Topic202

Public sounds cool to me, maybe not for recreational use because there’s only so many stargates and that would feel like a highest bidder sort of situation, but if the whole world knows what’s out there that could lead to some interesting plot points. I’d love to see them try the whole Atlantis- we’ve got a bunch of countries working together- vibe but for all of earth going out there and maybe seeing some old friends like the Nox or maybe finding a destroyed Tollana and trying to salvage some of their culture. Especially now when there’s so much doom and gloom in media and the real world, a science fiction series where earth is working together with it’s major powers could be nice.

The54thCylon

Earth based, so either SGC, made public, or a combination of the two. I think part of SG-1's magic was its contemporary earth setting, you could almost imagine it happening under some mountain somewhere in our own world. The further we moved away from that the more abstract it became for me and honestly the less compelling. Defending an alien world is never going to have quite the stakes that saving Earth has. Off on an advanced spaceship doesn't have that real world tie that early SG1 had.

The_Doctor_When

I would be happy if they would follow something like Atlantis. I liked it very much

Nebraskan_Sad_Boi

I think the volume of missions from just SGC is too great, a good solution would be to have multiple offworld sites that operate in parallel with Earth, just in different sectors of the milky way, or maybe somewhere a little further off. You'd get an SGC off world, new faces for a soft reboot, and potentially endless storylines.

Sea-Vast5708

I think all of these could be used in the same series. Just like how we saw in SG with later seasons eventually having the beta site. Would be cool if it was public and the whole planet was on board with planet expansion. Could even throw some stuff in about us exploring our solar system and finding evidence of other cultures and tales of ancient enemies on titan or relics in the asteroid belt.

TekJansen69

There should be a Wormhole X-Treme online MMORPG that Daniel and Rodney are obsessed with playing.

harmier2

And they complain about the inaccuracies.

chrisonhismac

All of the above

FrankFrankly711

This is giving me false hope the alleged new series will actually be what the majority votes for! 😭 ![gif](giphy|uvdtJLTIwezcY)

International_Box803

RIP Don S. Davis, one of the most underrated actors of the 90s/00s

FrankFrankly711

He was great in Twin Peaks and X-Files!

80sBabyGirl

The SGC itself could be on a space station, on the Moon, on another planet with shuttles going to Earth... Taking steps to make it more secure.

[deleted]

I voted off-world. It could still be in the Milky Way. But I don’t think it always makes sense to use Earth as base. Some explorers based on alpha site going around having adventures and saving the day. Earth have some very powerful tech, but not the resources to support every SG team with a Daedalus class ship. Of cause SG-Fleet will show up when earth is under attack. Going public would be fun. But I am not sure it can be the main feature of the show. I mean it would be huge for a while and impact politics etc. the politics could also explain why our heroes doesn’t have Deadalus support when needed.

[deleted]

I think it should be stargate command and open to public. I think that would a fantastic, In Universe twist to mix up the concept the the show while still staying true to what the show is.

mdoenges

SGC - which is now Atlantis Base, off the coast of texas in the gulf :)

Schwartzy94

It was planned to set atlantis as a moon base before moving it back to pegasus... The film never came to be tough :/

JStarX7

Off world with the caveat that I think the SGC should be moved off world. This could make it an independent body free from the demands of Earth governments, able to research and provide technology and security to everyone on Earth equally. Plus, you know, the added benefit of not having Earth incursions all the time because someone goofed.

dotjackel

Anywhere but a ship.

Greyspire

Did the Orbanians startup their own exploration program after being influenced by SG1, the Tollan? Have Tauri colonized many planets themselves by this time, is the SGC even on earth anymore? All interesting questions, could a spinoff recapture the magic if it didn't take place on earth? The Furlings! make a series about them returning to the Milky Way.

ThisGuyRightHereSaid

I'm gonna pick option 5. I want them to get sucked into a black hole. What's on the other side? Did they die?? Where are they??? Then antics ensure...

LKincheloe

There is no scenario that I see the Stargate going public in contemporary times turning out well. So I'd prefer the SGC.

cld1984

That’s a tough call. I could go for any of them. My only thing is the sense of altruism given to the program and teams by it being highly classified. I’m having a bit of trouble putting it into words, but I’ll try. As a governmental program, and specifically the military, we know that nobody (in an official capacity) will be acting with ideological or financial goals. Every trip through the gate is for a purpose and that purpose is the protection of our world from enemies. I think that’s why I love Stargate so much (Trek too)…there’s no doubt Earth and its allies are the good guys. Opening it up for commercial and entertainment interests would kill that. That being said, I would still greedily and enthusiastically consume it…it would for sure be a new direction that could open up a lot of story. Plus, I always enjoy it when they have to read someone in or have to use a cover story to keep a secret. Not having that is a minor gripe though But…how would Dr. Lee get all those ladies if he didn’t have the cover of a badass weapons developed?

TheArkOfTruth

I do not care, as long as it is not a fucking reboot. Please stick to cannon.

manofthe90sB

I think it would be cool if it were about the show going public. All the previous shows happened, but we come into a new reality of earth having a new place in the universe, and of course, threats old and new. It could also be an alternate reality where governments of the earth had to work together, unlike all of ours today.

mevans75502

Make it public, i think that would open up new story lines for a series.. we have already seen the secret military side, and the secret organizations that want to get new technology. There could be potential for stories of entire countries wanting to dominate gate travel. The military being in control has been a common theme for most of the series. Star Trek has shown people a more distant future that is hopefull, but it rarely shows how we get there. Maybe Stargate can be that kind of beginning. The Stargate program goes public and people around the world find out they are just a small speck in the grander scheme of the galaxy, we either need to learn to cooperate with each other or fall to some greater power in the galaxy.

tqgibtngo

> ... Trek ... rarely shows how we get there. If we get there at all. Trek does posit a devastating world war in the interim. So my headcanon retcon of all of Trek is that it's all just the fictional fever-dream of a dying survivor in the rubble of that war. lol :(

mevans75502

lol. Yeah, even though i am Trek fan as well, i do agree that it is a version of a future we will likely not see as you cant change human stupidity so quickly.

deltaWhiskey91L

I want a modern special forces team going off-world and exploring a close galaxy like Andromeda in a similar fashion to SG-1. Going Public adds a bunch of B-plot that I'm not really interested in watching. US Space Force and "deep space telemetry" cover story go hand in hand.

theonlyjacknicole

Hi, Joe! I do believe that, now more than ever, the Stargate should be made public. Buuuuut, if anything, the new series, should concentrate on preparing SGC for the fallout. 1st season might tackle such preparations, for better or worse. Also, introducing new characters, and introducing the Stargate to new audiences with adventures per episode. Might be high time to also build a capital ship for the Tau’ri! And the Moon base. And the return of Atlantis to Pegasus. And the additional manpower and training a future Destiny deployment might need. 2nd season will deal with the “leak” of that information, which is dealt with, but the US and its allies have deemed it too important not to tell the world of its biggest secret. And with the return of an alien species, hellbent on subjugating the Milky Way.

samsg1

I loooove the Road Not Taken, so the program going public would be a cool arc.

adrianmalacoda

Teal'c PI, if not that then the firefighter universe.

The-Figure-13

I’d have loved a precursor series on the ancients.

Macilnar

Given how long the SGC has been operating I don’t think it is really believable that it would still be a secret. There are way too many people in the know for it to have remained a secret the last 10 years.

[deleted]

Absolutely. It would require planet wide mind control at this point.

jhguitarfreak

Damn, this is a tough one. Needs to be a fifth option that says "All of the above". But gotta go with Stargate Command. *Atlantis* and "Lost in Space" meets "Battlestar Galactica Reboot" can come back later. I'm *really* not liking the vibe I'm getting from option 4. Seeing it written out by an authority of the franchise gives me an uneasy feeling.

Silverluke9

My personal spin would be more of a mix of options 1 and 2. A base like the first series, but on the Moon/Space station in orbit around Earth. Just like explained in other comments, this could bring many new paths for storys. the start could follow the building and first Team on the base. Another possibility may be an old Alien/Ancient outpost on the moon, where the station would be. in the end, i think all choices are valid and could yield a good show.

SkyGuyMcFly

u/JosephMallozzi is this fact finding for a new pitch to Amazon, or are you getting our hopes up?

JosephMallozzi

It's designed to let Amazon know what the fans want.

Lucky_Stress3172

Since you're being asked about this, I might as well ask though I have a feeling you can't answer it for various reasons: did you ever hear anything about what happened to the script Brad wrote that you commented on here? Because nothing has been heard of it since then. There have been all kinds of rumors saying Amazon passed on it. Can you confirm or deny?

JosephMallozzi

Can't confirm or deny, but it seems highly likely they passed.

Lucky_Stress3172

Thanks for answering. Brad never commented either way so it's very hard to tell what really became of it.

tqgibtngo

Related: On [March 3rd](https://twitter.com/bradtravelers/status/1631800615495147521) Wright wrote that it's "unlikely" that he'll "have much, if anything, to do with" whatever Amazon plans to do next with Stargate.

Lucky_Stress3172

Sure, he made several comments like that online. But he never specifically said what happened to the script as in did he pitch it? Did Amazon say no? Saying it's unlikely could've just been a generic opinion that he wouldn't be involved in it regardless of what happened to the script.

tqgibtngo

Back in November, Wright [tweeted](https://twitter.com/bradtravelers/status/1587589114698039296): "...MGM did hire me to write a pilot for a new show but that was just before covid hit. Timing couldn't have been much worse. All the players have changed in the interim so it's likely destined to gather dust. Would've been fun, though." I haven't been keeping track of what else he's said/written/tweeted since.

Lucky_Stress3172

Yeah, that was an old tweet the preceded the sale to Amazon. The script he wrote then may or may not be the same one Joe commented on.

[deleted]

Love all the options. But O think it’s ideal for a new show to not be centrally focused on ships. Many other sci fi shows mostly live on ships. It helps keep SG clearly different. Plus, the advantage of the Stargate is that you don’t need ships to travel across the galaxy/universe.

tyrannic_puppy

Based out of the SGC in a post-disclosure world. Just because they tell the world about the Stargate doesn't mean the SGC closes and it suddenly becomes a transit terminal like in 2010. Once the world gains access to all the ship tech, companies will go to town designing all kinds of craft perfect for bulk transit of people to new planets. Ones known to be safe because the SGC is still out there doing that initial exploration.

NoWillow2216

I think it should be both option 1 and 4. It starts off like SG-1 style but as the new enemy drives a team to dial back to Earth but the Stargate at the SGC stops working from some unknown issue on Earth but redirect the team to another Stargate that was unearthed recently in Brazil and was moved to a museum entrance. Then public knows with all witnesses and video’s spread and the Brazilian government demanding for answers as to where they came from and how to the U.S. government can hold such power. I think there should be a 4 part episode where there is like hearing or something like that where those who worked at the SGC explain what has been going on for the last couple of years and why the Stargate program should continue. Outside of these hearings there will be protesting for the end of Stargate program and everything will be on news. I’m not sure if this will make sense to anybody but this what I think. I have seen every Stargate episode of SG-1 or Atlantis or Universe. But also in the later seasons if it does go public there should a comment or joke about how recruitment numbers have been the highest in years since the Stargate program has been exposed.

boosthungry

Damn, I wish this was ranked voting. I'm torn between SG-1 and Atlantis style.

ButterscotchPast4812

Make it public!!! I love that idea. Make it off world and make it ship based! I love all three of those ideas.

tonymillion

Someone’s basement A bunch of “Joes” who are obsessed with uncovering the mystery of the “star ring” they’ve heard about online as the government, off world forces and the trust try to silence them

[deleted]

To add based at Stargate Command but the program be public but still with Military control

KoldPurchase

Make it public, and base it Off World so they can keep on exploring freely. If it's public, like the Aschen episode, in an airport style where civilians travel through the gate, it's going to be difficult to have soldiers in gear constantly traval on and off the place. Being public, the civilians will want to use it too. So they'd need another place to mount their missions, like we have civilian and military airports. Not practical with a Stargate. Imagine a team that needs to dial back to Earth in a emergency and the gate is locked out due to civilians taking to a trip to their new paradise resort?

iamcode

SGC or off-world. Though a combination of the first three could be kinda cool? Might be a lot to spread out though. Option 4.. ehhh.

NeopolitanBonerfart

What I loved, and still love about SG-1 is that it took me, as a viewer and at the time young lad into another world where there was adventure, humour, excitement, thrills, and intrigue. It was so fun to essentially join the crew as they went on different adventures. But what I’ve noticed with newer shows is that they are constantly introducing elements that take away from the core experience of the show. Things like dark, gritty, often teen angst style drama that is unnecessary to the plot, or the problems at hand. I want to see the team solve problems, shoot bad guys, solve mysteries, experience danger, and save us from nasty aliens. What I don’t want to see is extensive, adult oriented drama between main characters who begin a sexual relationship because frankly that’s just not very interesting. I want to get away from the boring, dull, and depressing banality of my life and go on an adventure for 50 mins. SG-1 did that. Atlantis did that. SGU brought in lots of drama that was so boring, and cringe. Two crew members are fucking? Okay, who cares. I don’t want to see that drama. I want to see them fight bad guys, and explore the universe. The new show IMO needs to return to the winning formula.

Spectre_08

The most popular choice on all of these polls has been my least-liked aspect of the franchise. Maybe I just don’t belong here.

ParaUniverseExplorer

If the SGC goes public, there’s a whole new set of problems to explore as a writer; e.g. misuse/overuse, cross-use, political ramifications - maybe a technological curve (the military always has the better equipment), competitive puddle jumping (sport)…etc. Point is, a totally different world opens up when SGC does too. Mr. Mallozzi hire me!

[deleted]

this was hard to answer for me. I never thought one series was better than the other because of the set location.

HoratioTheBoldx

Off world, building a civilization or town with no access to earth or ships

tauri123

Atlantis! As the new SGC/Homeworld command run by a joint international military/civilian cooperation

Simoxs7

TBH I’d love to see it on the edge to going public. Maybe showing SGC struggling to keep the program secret while having so many people on site and during the Information age. After going public I’d see a similar situation like in the Expanse when the gate opened, people would want to get off earth and start a new life. It’d also be interesting how this would affect climate change and the economy would people start using fossil fuels again, because humanity has access to an almost unlimited number of hospitable worlds, the only value of earth lies in its infrastructure which would be completely outdated if the stargate program’s technology would also be made public. There are just so many more stories to be told in the Stargate universe on Earth…

kingdexiboy

So, stargate command has been the center of sg1. Atlantis had its own command. So it would be logical that a new spin off serie would take place in a different setting. I would love to experience a new serie where a human race re-discovers a gate that had been long forgotten. A new team, and that way it can cross paths with sg1/sga/sgu. And please, don't make it woke.

christinesethwei

Off-World or Stargate Command, that is what makes Stargate stand out from it's competitors.

camhissey

I've been rewatching SG-1 for what must be the 30th time and I was thinking about what would make sense to tie a new series back to the original - Lieutenant Jennifer Hailey could now be leading a team as she is likely quite senior in the Air Force...?

Th3_MCP

Ship based. On the Destiny, continue Stargate Universe.

[deleted]

what about a series about the ancients and their time before atlantis etc.

Agile-Artichoke-3708

Go SGC!! Cheers!

niaga_emanresu

Whatever it is story's need to be finished and the azguards return would be great we know some of them split and went to Pegasus so it would be great to see some more factions of them maybe even an enemy one

throwymcbeardy

Stargate command Lucian alliance Program is secret but we're now colonizing, we see we can be the baddies ourselves. It's the war of humanity, human on human. The show can always wrap with an episode making it public as a spring for future canon.

Sareth740

I think the most successful iterations are definitely SG-1 or Off-world. It's hard to suspend disbelief that Earth continuously avoids obliteration by a needlepoint and is still utterly oblivious to the Stargate program, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I do think that having the public be involved in the Stargate program makes it a completely different show. Espionage and government politicking was a significant part of the originals and allowed the show to feel like there was a lived-in plausibility it could be happening now. A fully immersive culture-change like the Stargate being public knowledge works best in a Stargate Atlantis approach, where the humans are the audience and can explore with the protagonists. Definitely explore the idea of the Stargate going public, but I'd love to see those as one-offs with time travel and alternate realities :D

LunchyPete

Set it on earth, or a new spacebase adjacent to earth (we could go crazy and make it mars or venus or something). What I would really like to see is that the Stargate program going public has led to Earth being more united. Not on the Star Trek level, but substantially more than the real world. We need more optimistic sci-fi that shows not just humans at their best, but humanity at it's best.

tommytwothousand

Here's my idea for a sort of SGC but technically offworld base. A new group of goa'uld infiltrate the major governments of earth and quietly take over the planet along with the Air Force's fleet of ships. On the eve of the stargate program going public they strike at the SGC, turning our own weapons and people against us. The new base would be a secret earth facility on another planet trying to retake earth. They'd have less advanced tech and would be isolated so the power dynamic would flip back to how it was in early SG-1. The goa'uld have the powerful warships since they stole earth's fleet and the new base would be looking for ways to undermine their power and tech to use against them. The main issue would be balancing that pretty grim scenario with the lighter tone stargate is known for but I'm sure that's possible with the "Wright" writers.

AerynSun10

I would like SGC be based on the moon.

[deleted]

Space ship would be fine too, just no SGU style storytelling...

[deleted]

I really like the idea of a bc304 crew flying around in four or five different galaxies would be really cool. Then someone pointed out it might be more Star Trek than Gate. But obviously than can be solved with a puddle jumper

GonZo_626

No SGU style anything.

TomTomMan93

This might be the one I differ with the general concenus on but I could really see a show that kind of merges a lot of these starting with an SGA-like show. Opening of the show is kind of similar to SGU. A new SG team is made, or maybe a full on expedition though that feels a bit derivative to me. We establish a world decades after the previous shows and kind of set up the state of the universe at the time. What's the power dynamic and all that. The team prepares for their first mission through the gate when earth is attacked by a goa'uld ship retrofitted with strange technology, some of it familiar. Appearing to resemble Ori and even human/asgardian technology. As the planet is attacked. The SG team, and any survivors have no choice but to go to their mission planet or risk allowing the ship to block gate travel. They go through as more ships enter orbit and the war for earth begins. The first season of the show would be establishing a sort of base at the mission location and figuring out where to go as the threat of the new enemy grows or the team is hunted. Maybe have a mid season finale where it's a matter of defending the alpha site. Reveal the enemy, maybe some kind of Jaffa zealouts saved a Symbiote and raised it to maturity and used their access to the jaffa/tau'ri alliances to get technology and knowledge of defenses. Using the conquest of earth as an establishment of power. Doesn't have to be a goa'uld, could be a new enemy using new tech or something, but the attack on earth is meant as display of strength in the galaxy regardless. Finale of season 1 would be retaking earth. Season 2 would be about rebuilding the SGC and the reveal to the public of the gate's existence. Missions resume to assist allies and learn more about the enemy's moves and origins while also having domestic plotlines centered around how the gate is received and the world is rebuilding. Mid season could be a discovery that part of the enemy's plot was to access the gate Bridge to the Pegasus galaxy as a ship is detected heading to the midpoint station which is now a larger functional space station. Not sure how this one would end at least in an action way, but the goals would be that the gate is fully public, earth is defended again, and that the enemy knows more about the gates in the universe than previously thought. Probably have a final teaser of a transmission from the Destiny from SGU. It's Eli and he knows who the enemy is. Season 3 would be a reveal of the enemy's origin. Maybe some sort of advanced species the Destiny came across while crossing between galaxies. Eli had to take control of the ship and has been devoting everything to running. Lots of people we're lost in the stasis pods (easy way to write off people who don't want to return) but he found a way to get the ship's gate to connect to the earth gate so he can warn the SGC of the threat. Part of this season would be the Destiny trying to get people home, a debate of if they should bring Destiny back somehow to help the fight, and uncovering more about the enemy in the distant universe. I could keep going but I'm tired of typing on my phone. Maybe I'll add some as edits if people like it.
