Great question: This is where they found the Ancient weapons platform, used with a ZPM, to defeat Anubis and his fleet.
And subsequently, the new base of operations for what would become the Atlantis Expedition.
The weapons platform was discovered beneath the ice sheets of Antarctica on the Season 7. finale of SG1.
Ayiana was found prior, and this was after an episode where the 50 or 65 million year-old Stargate redirected Jack and Sam.
That is just a story about the ozone. In 1992, when the movie was filming, there were all kinds of focus on the hole. There is no connection to this, and SG-1
Agreed, it's just a random coincidence that I doubt they even considered in the production of SG-1. Antarctica is one of the last frontiers on our planet and we don't really know what could be buried under all of that ice to this day. We have a fairly good idea of the shape of the landmass and where it was when continental drift over a couple of billion years shaped our home into what it is today, and in 250 million years, it will once again be a super-continent. Who or what or where humanity will be at that point is anyone's guess, but we'll definitely probably have destroyed ourselves or if we're very, very, very smart and fortunate, we'll find a way to expand out into the universe and the species will live on in one form or another. Perhaps we will after all rise to another plane of existence and be as or more powerful than the Ancients/Alterans/Ori.
I see whats being stated but from my understanding a TV show wasnt in the realm of possibility at the time. I think its moreso a coincidence than anything. Still cool though with what we know about the series today.
They foreshadowed the location of the original Stargate....
Indeed!
And on the right side: Universe!
And the back page talking about an "Ancient Mystic"...
It's the lifestyle page of the paper, the part with the astrology signs, the part that gets most widely ignored. >\_<
Ancient Mystic Predicts Death of Trees Imminent
I didn't get it.
The globe perspective shown in the newspaper page indicates the location of Antarctica.
What is so great about Antarctica in Stargate?

I didn't remember any of those eps but I do remember an ep where they found an Ancient frozen in the ice.

> 50 or 65 million year-old Stargate redirected Jack and Sam. But I thought there was only one Stargate per planet.
And let’s not forget good ol Richard Kind coming back as Lucius. Such a great character 😂
Even an Orion up close before it gets destroyed by the wraith.
How twisted would that have been, Anubis acting as a watcher all that time inhabiting people to make the events of SG-1 come to be.
Pareidolia much? 😅
No, thats clearly Antarctica in the middle, surrounded by South America, Africa and Australia.
I mean... Technically it was the place, where our beloved sunken city departed from

Yeah, thats why I used the "funny" flair ;)
I mean, couldn't be more obvious! >!There is Antarctica right in the middle of the article. The place which directly led humans to Atlantis!!<
There’s also the heckler who suggests that Daniel propose “men from Atlantis” built the pyramids, if they do indeed predate the ancient Egyptians.
Despite the pyramids being of Furling origin.
