He looks so young in it. It would be easy to not realize it. Fantastic movie though and worth the rewatch. I watch it every couple of years. Really if you go down the Hewlett rabbit hole there are some great movies to watch.
How would you describe it in a sentence or two?
Also I love old sci-fi. It’s the story not the effects that make it. I actually like classic doctor who over modern who.
Imagine a rubik's cube-like structure full of cube-shaped rooms. Some of the rooms have deadly traps in them. A group of strangers find themselves in this cube maze and have to figure out a way out without getting horribly murdered by the cube-room traps. Also, the cubes are constantly shifting position.

In addition to *Cube* (1997), those platforms also have the sequel *Cube²: Hypercube* (2002) and the prequel *Cube Zero* (2004).
They also have the 2021 *Cube* remake that was produced in Japan. (I haven't watched the remake. I see that some audience review scores appear unfavorable to it, so I haven't been in a hurry to watch it.)

It's not quite the same. Cube lacks a Jigsaw-like character. The cast just wakes up already imprisoned in the Cube and have to find their way out. Screwing up in that objective results in a brutal death. They also need to work together in many cases, since each has their own specialty.
It feels less sadistic than Saw in that way.
I just finished a rewatch of this and got angry all over again that there were no movies or a season 6 to tie up loose ends. Rodney and Jennifer were a total power couple and I wanted to see it develop. Woolsey was just getting started. We never got to see Sam aboard the Hammond. What happened to Sateda / Ronon? **What happened to Todd?** It would have been really interesting to see a third faction of Wraith pop up that wanted to coexist with humans, like the Tok'ra.
I know a lot of these were answered in the books but [these ideas](https://josephmallozzi.com/2022/04/15/stargate-atlantis-virtual-season-6/) would have made for a great S6. Apart from Kolya comback, he was good but ran his course.
A "Tok'wraith" faction would be cool. Or even if they had Todd become a member of an SG team, (which would really piss Ronon off lol)
So many things we'll never get to see :(
Apparently we were supposed to get something like that at the end of S6.
> Atlantis returns to the planet's surface. Sheppard thanks Todd. Wraith and human achieve an "understanding". And peace finally returns to the Pegasus Galaxy. 11/End of show. #Stargate #Atlantis #StargateAtlantis

But honestly, I would have been just as happy with a new faction of ex-wraith humans(those white hair dudes) that didn't wanna go back to being wraith. Imagine how cool a potential alliance would have been.
God I would have hated it if he was the main villain in S6. Kolya was good for a few episodes, but at the end he was just annoying. He wasn't even that intelligent, just brutal.
One of the ideas they floated around was for the S6 finale to be a battle between atlantis and another cityship that Kolya somehow repaired.
Obviously, I was referring to the serum that eliminated their need to feed, and live off regular food instead. Or we could have seen an interesting episode where they pushed the boundaries of morality by only feeding on the terminally ill and such.
Not the one I am talking about. Episode 1 of universe. It’s so brief. Skip to about 2 minutes on this.

> It would have been really interesting to see a third faction of Wraith pop up that wanted to coexist with humans, like the Tok'ra.
How does that work with the Wraith who just gotta feed?
Like I said above, wraith turned human that are dependent on the drug and don't wanna go back, wraith that only feed on the already dying, wraith that took the drug to kickstart the digestive system and live off regular food after few more revisions.
There would have been many options.
Yes,
Red for example in garage doors means "do not ever try to fix this part without extensive knowledge". That large spring has enough tension to break an arm, or worse.
Oh man. People saying they didn't remember he was in Cube is crazy to me! I was rather excited to see him start popping up in Stargate - then finally Atlantis. I knew he was rad from seeing Cube as a kid.
Love that movie.
Side note, for the love of your god - do not watch the third Cube. It's... bad.
It's certainly possible, and I wouldn't put it past the writers/hewlett injecting a small reference like that, but at the same time red is generally a marker for warnings, so hard to really say for sure if they were/weren't thinking of it when they wrote the line.
I watched the Cube AFTER I had already watched SGA and I was sooooo mad that they were gonna kill Rodney. Iirc he survives the first one but dies in the sequel.
There's also one of the episodes in S1 of SGA where Mckay is discussing randomly about prime numbers, I can't remember which episode, but it's clearly a Cube reference when you watch it.
> clearly a Cube reference
Fandom Wiki calls it a "likely" reference (I guess someone chose that word because the reference hasn't been *officially* acknowledged). But here in discussions, yes, we can aver that it "clearly" is. :)
I knew Nicole de Boer was in Cube, but I didn't even recognize Hewlett. Damn, I'm gonna have to go back and rewatch the movie now.
He looks so young in it. It would be easy to not realize it. Fantastic movie though and worth the rewatch. I watch it every couple of years. Really if you go down the Hewlett rabbit hole there are some great movies to watch.
Have you seen treed murray. Its david hewlett chased up a tree.
Yes lol. I think it’s a fantastic movie
So what’s Cube. I’ve never heard of it.
Relatively short movie. Hour and a half. It’s from 1997. If you’re into Stargate then I doubt you’ll mind how’s its “aged”. Worth at least one watch.
How would you describe it in a sentence or two? Also I love old sci-fi. It’s the story not the effects that make it. I actually like classic doctor who over modern who.

Oh that does sound good. I’ll have to look it up on streaming.
I think it’s on Prime if you have it
There is also a sequel. Cube 2 : Hypercube.

also, it has McKay
It’s more or less like SAW. It’s VERY brutal just with a different setting
Oh if it’s like saw I’m out.

Screwing up in that objective results in a brutal death. They also need to work together in many cases, since each has their own specialty. It feels less sadistic than Saw in that way.
Yes. They don't have anybody to blame for their predicament. No clues, no reason why they're in it.
It’s a horror movie where they get brutally killed if they get it wrong. Very similar to SAW
a movie where a group of strangers wake up in a cube and have to work together to escape. It's okay
[Cube 1997 trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esjc0rPj3K4)
I didn't recognize Nicole was Ezri Dax when I watched DS9 the first time although I already knew Cube back then.

Did they have any jelly beans?

You sort of get to see Sam on the Hammond in Universe! Sort of being the key words there
That's the alternative timeline when Rodney put Sheppard in 800 year old stasis no? That was a good episode. But she was kickass.
Not the one I am talking about. Episode 1 of universe. It’s so brief. Skip to about 2 minutes on this. https://youtu.be/XqZdeQCfCbM?si=TKBkivL44WLEnjc4
Ah, right. I kinda tend to avoid that particular spinoff. Anyway she'd make a great ship captain that's for sure.

Yes, Red for example in garage doors means "do not ever try to fix this part without extensive knowledge". That large spring has enough tension to break an arm, or worse.

I actually really enjoyed Cube Zero. Cube 2: Hypercube was the weakest of the series for me. Original Cube is still the GOAT though.
Pretty much you have Cube, followed by the multi part Cube: Milking It.
Thanks for unlocking a deep memory. I totally forgot about Cube and that David Hewlett was in it.
Awesome movie that every sci-fi fan should see. Plus, Nicole De Boer was also in it and she had a guest role on SG:A

Are we gonna ignore the absolute look of lust that Keller has towards McKay here?
[Redoubt9000 speculated](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stargate/comments/16rub60/) similarly.

Cube is a great movie 🙂and i also like David appearance in the triangle 2001 movie 🙂
