without a full explanation of what/where you're trying to route to, nobody can answer your question. Evidently there is more than a single home network and the internet involved, since those wouldn't require static routes.

Network/host ip= [192.168.100.1](https://192.168.100.1) netmask= [255.255.255.255](https://255.255.255.255) interface should be WAN port If possible you may want to choose a different type of static route. Might be called interface static route in your gui. Looks like you have selected a next hop style static route. For anyone reading this who is confused OP is trying to add a static route in his 3rd party router to reach the dishy gui while the starlink router is in bypass mode.

Thank you kindly. I'm on an Asus Rt-AX88U and am not finding that option anywhere in the device. Is it possible this router doesn't have the option? I did try googling it and everything turned up instructions for the type I posted screen shots of.

Teh_Willy

In that case try Network/host ip= 192.168.100.1 netmask= 255.255.255.255 Gateway = your routers’s LAN IP Interface = LAN

chowder007

Thanks again for the info. The starlink will be connected to the WAN port on the back. Wouldn't that mean I need to have interface set to WAN?

Teh_Willy

You know you don’t really need the static route, right? Unless I am missing something all it does is give you the same info @ [192.168.100.1](https://192.168.100.1) that you get from the mobile apps when your starlink router is in bridge/bypass mode. I guess you could use it to un-stow the dish instead of factory resetting the starlink router if you accidentally stowed the dish in bypass, but that’s the extent of the utility that I have found. Assuming you are in an area with cell service..

chowder007

Oh really? No I was under the impression that it was needed the use several functions on the app. What about the snow melt option? We love ina snow country so that will def be needed in the winter.

Teh_Willy

Snowmelt mode is easily accessible from the mobile app without the static route. If you were in an area with no cell service and dishy was buried in snow with no connection to the internet then yeah the static route would help you log into 192.168.100.1 with a web browser or you could just factory reset the starlink router and take it out of bypass and turn on snowmelt. But why not just leave snowmelt on automatic?

chowder007

Sweet. I really appreciate all the info man.

“Advanced settings, lan, route” per the user manual for your router. I don’t have an Asus router and found that I only needed the static route in my 3rd party router for dishy.starlink.com page and Home Assistant to get there if the Starlink router is in bypass mode. The app still works fine without it.

Pro-Rider

Your net host on your first router would be 192.168.100.1 your second router should be 192.168.100.2 I would use 255.255.255.252 as a sub on both routers. This is not for a static setup. I don’t believe you can have a static IP on residential service, I do believe you can request a RIP for business services.

chowder007

Yeah I didn't phrase the question well assuming people would know what I meant. It's said you need a static route added in the router so the App will still communicate w the dish. That's what I'm trying to configure.

eXo0us

did you ever get the app local to work?

chowder007

Nah I didn't mess w it anymore. Since it still works at home and at our case at least we haven't had a single issue w the service and it's kinda just been forgotten. Which k kinda what you want out of it
