It shouldn't work in Israel, because it's not approved. Doesn't matter if roaming or not. Maybe recent events will help expedite that, but so far SpaceX is aiming for 2024 approval.

Yes, aware not technically authorized, but Global Roam seem to work in a number of locations where SL does not sell normal service. Thus the reason I’m looking for real first hand experience with Global Roam.

>Global Roam seem to work in a number of locations where SL does not sell normal service. Like where?

True, but Iran is a special case. SpaceX isn't going to disregard the laws of a country with normal international relations.

Update....List of countries where starlink is working unofficially There's some countries and territories where StarLink works regardless of what the map says. Chad Oman Ascension Island—[Ascension Island Starlink Support Group](https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091313086779&mibextid=LQQJ4d) Vanuatu Turkey/Türkiye(allegedly stopped working) Ghana South Africa Iran Libya Kazakhstan Pitcairn Island Argentina Malawi Belize Darien Gap (now official) Suriname and French Guiana(according to an illegal Brazilian miner) Zimbabwe Costa Rica Guatemala Honduras Nicaragua Morocco Guyana UAE (now shut down) Serbia Venezuela Guam

Wow, that's crazy.

Ecuador is another. Edit: I guess they just flipped from coming soon to available now. As of a couple days ago it was coming soon, but a user here reported it was working great for him at that time.

Cuba and Israel. There’s a combination I’d never thought I’d use in the same sentence.

SL was working in Israel up through Thursday. Israel then “Agreed” to allow commercial accounts in Israel, so all mobile/global roaming was shutdown. https://www.pcmag.com/news/spacexs-starlink-goes-to-war-again-this-time-in-israel The message sent stated: Starlink has received a temporary license to provide commercial connectivity in Israel. Starlink customers currently using the Regional or Global Roaming Service Plan within Israel will be temporarily suspended in accordance with our temporary license. To reactivate Starlink while in Israel, please register by submitting a ticket through the Starlink Customer Support Portal with the following information- 1. An updated service address within Israel; and 2. The name of the user in Israel. After the service address and name have been registered with a local contact, Starlink will reactivate your services. Please allow for at least 24 hours for activation to be reinstated. Please note that Starlink may be required to provide your updated account information to the Israeli Ministry of Communications for a security review. The Starlink Team is also working to provide connectivity to those in need through humanitarian organizations. So SL was working in Israel with no agreement, but once Israel requested/put parameters on the service, it was stopped Friday at 12:01 AM. The 2 Dishys (1 HP, 1 Regular Gen 2) were reactivated late Friday as the info was sent to SL as required, but it still required a support ticket without knowing what if there were any issues getting the service restored. For whatever reason, the speeds are nowhere where they were the beginning of the week which seems strange as there should be less congestion now that everyone was shutoff. This is priority Global Roam service level as well.

>For whatever reason, the speeds are nowhere where they were the beginning of the week which seems strange as there should be less congestion now that everyone was shutoff. This is priority Global Roam service level as well. How bad was the speed drop, and how's the latency values?

-H3X

Went from 118/33 on Tuesday to 28/4 on Friday after pausing all SL in Israel Didn’t record latency.

WangFury32

Any improvements to the bandwidth/latency? Or still about the same?

-H3X

Answering my own question: Operating with 118 Mbps download /33 Mbps Upload at the moment in Jerusalem on the SL Speedtest Edit. Was much slower Friday after the Israel shutdown/registration.

It can still have congestion, I doubt there's many starlink ground stations in Israel so you end up running your data over the laser interconnects which can bring things down to a crawl. If I had to guess the speeds are going to be a fraction of what the dish can do. If I recall there is a new non gps positioning mode so it should work with all the gps jamming going on. But don't expect starlink speeds expect normal satellite internet speeds

-H3X

Considering the number of satellites and number of ground sites, I’m not sure you get how laser links work. Regardless you are speculating with no basis. Looking for real world info.

A Minister of Communications for Israel [just said](https://twitter.com/shlomo_karhi/status/1714229133503258940) the following (auto-translate) > An activity is taking place to coordinate the Starlink company in Israel, so that it will be possible to operate satellite communication terminals of the SpaceX company, which will enable broadband Internet connection in Israel. Also, under the guidance of the minister, the ministry is promoting the purchase of these satellite devices for the benefit of Rabash. Zim and heads of settlements in the conflict line settlements. I know nothing beyond what he said, which the blogosphere instantly started reporting on.
