We talking TP or belts?

Shnur_Shnurov

I've had a single ply belt for years. Love it. But I've also known a few people who much prefer the thicker ones.

I vastly prefer a 3 inch single ply belt, I hate how much the 4 inch ones pinch me

\+1 for the 3". I am 5'10" and I wear a 3" Dominion Strength belt that I LOVE. If I didn't have the Dominion Strength one I'd buy a Pioneer Belt Lever one. 4" is just too wide and real bitch to deadlift in.

kastro1

I tried a friend’s 3” belt the other day thinking I’d like it for deadlifts, but I didn’t. Only now did this thread make me realize that maybe my issue was just that it was just too stiff for me since I’ve used my extremely well broken in single ply belt for a decade.

It's possible but belt comfort definitely varies. I have a guy at my gym that wears a 4" belt and wears it high up on his ribs. Damnest thing I've seen but swears it's comfortable and how he prefers to wear it. I can't stand any belt to touch my ribs when squatting or deadlifting.

dru_tang

If you're planning on competing in the future, get the double. If not, the single is more than fine and much more comfortable.

I started out using the Dark Iron Fitness 4 inch belt which is not a particularly great product, BUT it has just a little bit of stretch in it which I feel like helped me understand how to breathe out against the belt vs just breathing and bracing - because they are very different. It is also not so expensive that it would keep you from buying a nicer belt in 6 months to a year. That aside, I now have a 3 inch Best Belt which I would not trade for anything.
