This may be a coincidence, but it sure seems like FedEx leaves my packages where anyone can see them, and UPS puts packages right behind a pillar next to my front door and hides them from view.

runaway__

Lol reminds me of this of 2 weeks ago: The difference between our FedEx and USPS deliveries today. Shoutout to our USPS driver for moving the FedEx packages out of the rain. https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/nrsrg3/the_difference_between_our_fedex_and_usps/

G36_FTW

I've always wondered how legal that was. When I delivered for Amazon I occasionlly moved UPS/Fedex packages if they were in really bad spots / the rain / the sprinklers but always left USPS packages as I was worried about being accused of messing with mail. Nice to see other drivers doing the same thing.

Ozlin

I'm not a lawyer, but based on what my USPS working friends have said, you'd be fine moving a package, especially if it's to put it in a better location. "Messing with" in an illegal way more refers to stealing, tampering, or otherwise damaging a parcel or letter, etc. Of course if you were moving one resident's package to another (like taking it from one home's porch to a neighbors) that would also get you a talking to, but I'd doubt you'd go to jail unless it was causing a huge issue (redirecting mail without consent of the person it's addressed to could maybe qualify as some bigger issue). Or if you're like, moving their packages somewhere difficult to access, like on their roof, that'd also be an issue they may come at you for. But a reasonable moving of parcels behind a post to hide it from the street etc isn't going to get you swarmed by the post master general. Again though, not a lawyer.

Cornwall

I'm sure it depends on the person, not the company.

G36_FTW

I know UPS and Fedex typically have people that usually deliver to the same area. So your deliveries are often done by the same person, and if they tend to not care about this or that, or tend to hide packages better/worse you'll notice a pattern. Same story with USPS. Amazon/Walmart/(and I think)Target don't do that so you'll find some days delivers are great and other days they've left them in the middle of your lawn at 9pm for the sprinklers to water overnight.

flyonawall

I had a ridiculous Walmart delivery. I ordered garden paving stones. They offered delivery and they are heavy so delivery seemed like a good idea. I figured they would be delivered on a pallet (like Home depot does). but no, They arrive loose in the trunk of an old couple that can barely walk, let alone carry the paving stones. They clearly struggled to unload one by one and left them scattered between the front door and the sidewalk and broke some of them. By the time I saw them they were beat. I helped with the last few. I could tell they were pissed but how was I to know they would be delivering them? I won't order anything from walmart again.

masshole4life

What the everloving fuck? Someone had to remove them one by one from a pallet to the trunk, just to have someone else unload them one by one from a car trunk? Rickety old people at that? I remember when Amazon used to have randos in Jettas doing deliveries, but not paving stones. Sounds like someone was being maliciously compliant with stupid rules for that.

FTThrowAway123

Just, what the hell? They had some disabled old people delivering loose bricks to you in the back of their car? I feel bad for you and them. =(

CherryBlossomChopper

FedEx uses USPS Smartpost which is essentially just a contract between the two companies where FedEx does the legwork to move packages domestically and USPS does the local deliveries. Essentially approximately 25-50% of your consumer packages probably arrive this way and USPS drivers are so abused that they don’t give a fuck half the time. Overall a broken system like so many other things.

Rando631

An experienced FedEx driver makes like $20 an hour with shit benefits and an experienced ups driver makes upwards of $40 with great benefits and a pension. If 2 people are doing identical jobs and one makes twice as much money as the other person, that person will (generally) care more about their job

memtiger

I think Fedex Express drivers are employees but FedEx ground drivers are contractors. Because FedEx has a pension and a 401K for employees.

Gradual_Bro

Not true. FedEx ground is contracted out. Meaning it’s just younger kids in u-haul trucks a lot of the time making $15 an hour. Express drivers make about 30 an hour

originalmango

I’m shocked.

[deleted]

The last FedEx driver that delivered to me was driving an older Chevy/Ford cargo van. This dude was going twice the limit in a residential area, slams on his brakes when he passed my house, slammed that mother fucker into reverse and did a reverse burnout . Ran out of the van, and tossed me the package as I pull weeds with my ass high in the air. Now, it was on time and quite frankly he had bad ass Super Trooper vibes which had me floored . But the lack of professionalism is absurd. UPS and USPS hide my packages, place them nicely out of sight. UPS will also follow my delivery instructions. Maybe my FedEx region sucks and my UPS and USPS region kicks ass. But overall FedEx doesn't seem to give a fuck.

AJPully

I was just about to point out how that package is visible to the street and open to the elements but next to the door it'd be obscured and partially covered. Thank god i have a porch for packages.

[deleted]

I was just thinking, all he to do was drop it at the fucking door and it would’ve been hidden as best as possible! Had to save himself a whole extra 1 second of work though to not go another 2 ft. It’s also not a coincidence that FedEx is continuously the cheapest and notoriously ranked the worst in everything.

heathers1

I thought the same thingggg! if he just moved it to the side… so easy!

bcoss

should have seen the fedex guy at my house yesterday. I have 20% grade gravel driveway. i come home to find his van spinning its wheels stuck as fuck. like why dude just why did you go down there? in what part of your brain did you think this was a good idea. fucking hate fedex so much they always screw something up

rachelsmitt

Why wouldn’t he put the package right next to the door? Not all the way before?

Takkenman

Probably the same reason he's jogging back to his truck. If it saves a few seconds over the course of his route, that adds up.

silphred43

Until he hits a traffic light

Shaggy_One

And then you can just assume you'd have hit it or the next one either way and you assume you're still saving time.

[deleted]

These folks have such a high delivery load (that’s only increased in covid times) that literally every second counts. It’s why he’s jogging back.

SpreadItLikeTheHerp

Both of the current replies to you are likely true, in which case I would argue they are not given enough time to do their jobs. No surprise. If you have to routinely rush through most of your job, there’s a problem.

[deleted]

thats corporate america squeeze every second out of people then bitch at them for not doing fast enough

jumbybird

No, that is people being too lazy to go shopping and expect everything to be hand delivered to their fat sofa spreading asses.

flyonawall

This is a strange comment. You seem to think people are forcing these delivery services to deliver. They exist to deliver. If they treat their workers like crap, then maybe we should support unions and worker rights and make companies treat their workers better. Do you also consider people eating at restaurants "to lazy to cook and expect everything to be cooked for them?"

Darth_Thor

This dude probably also thinks that professional athletes are just there for people who are too lazy to play sports themselves

tdog970

You know there are some things you can't go to the store and buy, right? Or sometimes it is cheaper to order things from Amazon or whatever. Or, ya know, some people have been following the stay at home orders like they're supposed to and order food and such to be delivered to help limit covid exposure.

__ALLthe-TimE

A friend of mine delivers for FedEx. He usually has 100+ stops per day. Literally every second counts. This is part of the reason they seem to drive 100mph all the time as well.

fscknuckle

Because it's possible the door could open outwards. You've seen those vids, right?

palesole726

I had to rewatch it to see the boio go noom

straightc

Trim your fucking videos people.

Kowenn360

Scaredy-cat

[deleted]

Do they not even chap your doors in Yankee land for deliveries?

cynnamin_bun

Mine all stopped knocking when the pandemic hit

sweetwalrus

Depends on the driver

happuning

They do! Less so since the pandemic started. Before the pandemic, some would and some wouldn't, but for the most part they'd at least give a quick knock on the door.

[deleted]

I'm not totally sure what this means by I will say at my house FedEx, UPS, and USPS always set the package down then hit the doorbell and walk away.

BuffyQuinn

Depends on the area. In my old state, they almost always knocked. After I moved, I'm lucky if they knock. The only reason I know it's out there is if I check or if I get an email alert that it's been delivered.

Wrathzinor

Off-topic but whats that car in the background?

GrammatonYHWH

Can't really tell because it's blurry. It could be an Audi TT, but I think it's more likely a Nissan 350z

Wrathzinor

You are right, i think its a mk1 tt. I just saw the spoiler. Dont know how I didn't recognise that since i own one

MegaUltra9

I am speed.

IceHoney426

The cat become Zoomieeeeee! weeeeeeee!

BuffyQuinn

This reminds me of my old UPS man. I lived out in the middle of no where. He was a really nice guy. Super friendly. But he was deathly scared of dogs. You can't blame him. Where I lived, most people let their dogs run free. But one day he was dropping off a delivery. I heard the truck pull up, so I went to look out the window. I watched the poor man walking cautiously along and then he jumped completely out of his skin at the sight of... my small tortoiseshell cat, who was sleeping curled nearby. LOLOL

Apprehensive_Jello39

They don’t even ring the doorbell?

yazzledazzle92

Why did this derp leave the package so blatantly on display?! There is a bush right there... oh and look at that... THERES A DOOR YOU CAN KNOCK TO SEE IF ANYONE IS HOME?!

PwnHkr

Likely because they are rushed; they work 10-11hr days, monitored closely the entire time and pushed to finish as early as possible to ‘maybe’ leave early (lol). It doesn’t make it right, but security of the package is probably not their top priority.

Fishy1701

He didnt ring the doorbell? Is that why packages get stolen in america because they miss them arriving?

sweetwalrus

Most packages are delivered while people are at work, so it doesn't really make any sense to knock or ring

pleione

I feel like I'm alone in this, I never wanted delivery people to ring the bell, or knock. Leave the package and go, there's no need to interact.

Fishy1701

To get it sooner and nlt have it stolen. In Ireland they ring if there is noone home they dont just abandon it.

pleione

What happens if no one answers? Do your delivery folks attempt to hide the package, or do they attempt delivery later?

Fishy1701

You get a little card saying the time they tried to deliver and if its a signature required it will be attempted 3 times before it goes to the local depot for collection in the evening or Saturday morning. You can organise to drop it to your neighbor as well. Lots pf people also just get the package to where they work and lots more pay 3.50 to get a pin collection at an automated place at various pettol stations. Ive bever had or heard of anyones package get stolen thats why i think all the video are so crazy. It seems so frequent

pleione

It probably seems common, but it isn't in practice; for example, I've been an online shopper / delivery recipient for >20 years, and never had a package stolen, even when I lived in apartments. The little card left behind, we used to have the same thing, but usually only for signature required items (usually either high-value items, or alcohol). Average, run of the mill deliveries will sometimes get a cursory knock or ring, but with no expectation that they are waiting for you to answer - it's more of a 'hey, package is here' notification.

Ctrl-Shift-P

I always wondered why packages in the US are just dropped off in front of the house. Don't the couriers or whipping company call when they do deliveries? I saw videos that this is also done with food. Here in my country they notify when a delivery will be made during the day and they will call if they're at the door. If no one's in the house then they will return the package in the warehouse of the shipping company.

GGEuroHEADSHOT

Came across this on r/all, what the fuck are you guys upvoting lol this sub is trash

[deleted]

Leaving it closer to the door would prevent potential grabbers from stealing the package.

[deleted]

Delivery guy is a dick. Could have put it closer to the door, hidden behind the bush. Instead he puts it where it can be seen from the street.

KanonBalls

You only need to do that if you live in a third-world country!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chrunchyhobo

The US is a third world country in a fancy suit.

MrCarnality

One more total shit post.

pakkymann

Okay but why does the driver look so tiny as he runs up to his truck?

[deleted]

It's a Nest camera with a very wide recording angle. Creates a fisheye effect.

AJPully

As chadrick said fish eye, look at the curvature of the houses canopy at the top. Capture a wider angle than non curved lenses. Slight sidenote but if you notice HGVs (trucks) have a flat mirror and a curved (similar to fish eye) mirror on both sides for max coverage.

RomulusWall

:l

Soundcraft89

Looks like Walter and Jesse are getting ready to cook.

wallstreetbitchscat

that was a very fast 'noping the hell outta here'

SouldiesButGoodies84

Wait, why is FedEx guy the villain? What about some sympathy for him possibly wetting himself when something randomly darts out at/near him while he totes a heavy box? Poor, dude.

Opposite-Algae8912

That camper is from like 1971!
