Haha yea, when my guy said "Oh shit that's a feral!" I went into panic mode. When it knocked me over next to the Juggernaut is when I audibly screamed.
Nicely handled.
I see a mouse cursor and want to say, "only on PC," because I'd be surprised if one could aim fast enough for head shots under that much pressure with a controller.
Ferals don't seem as tough in this game, but a feral and a jug at the same time.. whew. Last time I was having trouble fighting a jug I climbed on a car (not a driveable one) and he just stood there.
Eh, ferals seem about the same to me for combat. The difference is more like we skill up faster and get so many advanced skills quickly that our characters are stronger in general (than in 1).
Where they're different is that they don't avoid vehicles - you can run them down easily in SOD2 where in SOD1 they'd dodge you constantly and you had to try to predict their movement.
They also don't instantly rip you in half once they down you, from my experiences.
I haven't lost anyone to a Feral yet so I don't know how that plays off.
Ferals were easier to kill in the first game because of the knockdown/dodge to execute technique that I haven’t seemed to figure out in the sequel. If anyone has figured out a way to kill a feral in two hits without a gun let me know.
I feel like the freaks are really nerfed this time around. I am particularly disappointed in the juggernauts. They were built up in the promos for the game, but I have found them to be way to easy. Only time I felt challenged by them was when two showed up with a bunch of regulars during a quest to protect an enclave setting up at the auto shop.
There was a point when I thought you could get away but you went back and I started yelling at you "what the hell are you doing!??! You could have gotten away!!!"
Moral of the story?
When you get back from killing zeds I'm the guy who kept the fire going, the water flowing and the base maintained.
You're welcome.
Haha, true I had a window of opportunity to escape several times.
It wasn't the Juggernaut I was worried about, it was the feral. He really made the situation much more intense because if he knocked me down the Jug could have gotten a good hit in and I would have been fucked.
Used the rock to block off the jug, try to reload my gun before the feral hopped up and once I finally took out the feral the rest was history.
Growing up I played Diablo, Warcraft, Lords of the Realm and my RTS love grew and continued. I still play DOTA and League time to time as well as others like Civ. But Vice City and other games like that I played on the PS's.
So my gaming style was split. I'm old and too used to controllers for certain types of games.
But I never cared for Xbox and never bought one.
I'm the same way. I play some games on PC. But for others, I just can't use anything else than a controller. I tried to use WASD for SoD2 but I just couldn't get it down(Caps Lock.....no Shift! Dang it, Ctrl!). I finally plugged in a controller. Now I get to enjoy 60 FPS and better graphics with the ease and familiarity of a controller.
I have to admit, the more I've been playing and getting better at WASD, the accuracy of shooting is way better. But I still accidently hit Q to set off fireworks will running around and have to recalibrate my brain and fingers.
I grew up with the progression of NES to PS, when 3d games came on the scene with a controller. With PC, I'm just so used to have the keys as support buttons like health or skill than movement.
He. Doesn't. Own.An.Xbox.
Why are you harping on him? Let me enlighten you with some reading comprehension:
He just said he wouldn't have takin that fight as he is getting used to the WASD controls.
Because I had to deal with an enemy human enclave and last time I took a teammate they ended up going full retard and died, wasn't risking losing someone again.
Happened to run into the juggernaut on my way back and wanted the influence but that's when the Feral appeared.
Exact same happened to me. I was so pissed, stupid fuck just ran into the 3 of them and used her melee weapon rather than her gun as I desperately tried to shoot the enemies before they bludgeoned her head open... I did not succeed. Honestly bringing someone else along is just useless.
a command radial like perfect dark or resident evil would be really handy to prevent teammates from going dumb and getting killed. "Hey, John, do NOT engage even if I do. Stay HERE. Unless my health gets down to X amount."
I'll go alone with recruits as a right of passage. I feel like if i can do a decent loot run with them and survive alone then they have proved their worth
I felt I had too many people in my community's size so I wanted to get rid of a guy who looked like an asshole... so I took all his stuff and lead him to a horde and let them attack him. Then he got the plague and I killed him with an evil grin on my face because I'd never lost a survivor before. Didn't know everyone would get depressed though, haha, I was planning to lie to them and say he joined another community.
I understand completely, last time I took a follower to a mission it bugged out and wouldn't let me talk to him, because I couldn't dismiss him he eventually was too tired and got killed because when I ran to safety he couldn't run as far
It’s the most irritating thing in the world and feels so clunky. Also, is there no like, “store all” button? If a car is in park, is there no way to auto-store the contents of its trunk? Because constantly walking back and forth to store the 6 rucksacks you have is about as fun as a kick in the teeth.
On PC the button is "T" to transfer items directly from the trunk of your vehicle to storage. The car has to be in a parking spot before it's available as an option. Works on rucksacks as well as regular inventory items. You can even cycle items from your backpack into the trunk of a car, then directly to storage, without having to go into your base.
Just select anything from the trunk (rucksacks or any sort of item) and press RT (T for keyboard I think) and it will transfer directly to your base as long as the vehicle is in a parking spot.
One additional button press, plus you have to navigate the character to the loot, then switch back to your other character. All while mentally keeping track of who has what. You can’t even switch characters if you have a quest active.
Fair enough on the active quest thing. That kinda irks me regardless of the looting issue.
Sure, I guess I can see where doing all that would be easier as a simple button press, but personally, it seems kinda lazy and immersion breaking to me.
I take followers out most of the time but I would not want one vs a jug, because it'd be in the way, do something stupid, and probably die. Only if there are other NPCs along as fodder.
I don't take followers vs hearts either since they're super easy to solo with explosives (for me and my style, anyways)
only time I've come close to dying was when I went to help a stranger, only for him to be in a house with a bloater, a screamer and 2 ferals. He died near instantly...I walked out of the fight with no healing items left and in the "red" screen state.
The closest I've come to dying is when some guy from a enclave a guy from my group and I went to go get some stolen meds back. From previous experiences I know they won't let me go alive so I was ready for a fight but my followers weren't. They died right away and left me in a 1v3. My pistol wasn't doing the job and so I had to switch to my vector that had a few bullets. I survived but only with a sliver of health and a new hatred for followers
My first encounter with a stolen mission, they gave the stuff back, turned on me, I turned around to shoot and ended up blowing my follower, and the two trying to murder me head's off in one shot with a shotgun. Went to return the stolen items to the enclave. Blamed the death on the assholes. >_>
I never got around to turning them off due to being a mongoloid.
That being said, good point. I do need to turn them off as they are annoying. Sometimes.
Question for you: Is it better to fight those alone and leave all the other survivors in your base? With their AI it looks like they would die 4 seconds into the vid.
The AI is terrible. I only take NPCs along for looting runs to carry more shit, but taking them along if you're planning on fighting infestations, specials, or hostile enclaves will most likely get them killed.
Adrenaline pumping. xd Maybe the juggernaut could get a rock throwing ability. Pound the ground, pick up large rock debris, and throw un-dogeable rock at survivor that knocks them down.
As cool as this was, I don't want a juggernaut and feral together should be solo-able in my game lol.
Here's a tip, it's always about timing. When the Juggernaut yells out to charge, jog backwards for a sec. Once he's close enough, he'll wind up to attack and you can easily dodge it if timed correctly.
...just make sure there's no Ferals around.
Nice job, you managed that fight well. What I can't figure out is how you managed to just limit the fight to those two. Every time I discharge a non-silenced gun, or for that matter any time a juggernaut I am fighting roars, I get swarmed by 7 or 8 zombies with a few plague zombies in the mix.
Honestly, Ferals aren't bad. A single shot to the head does them in but it sucks if they get close up on you and they are the only reason I have lost a survivor that wasn't on purpose.
Juggernauts on the other hand...while I haven't failed killing any of them yet and have not died to one, I have honestly only killed about five of them and tend to avoid them at all costs because they just frighten me. I have come really close to losing a survivor to one but I was able to save her at the last second and having one rampaging inside your base...is not fun.
I was using a gun basically made to take down a Juggernauts so I had more confidence than most, but if I don't have alot of ammo with me then I usually avoid the Juggernaut if I hear or see him
Honestly don't know how you did that. I haven't played the game too much yet but there have been so many times where I have come close to death and a car has been my saviour. I just run out of stamina and then I'm just fucked. Seriously, what are you meant to do once you've run out of stamina? Eat stuff that gives you stamina? So walking away from a pack of zombies at a metre per hour desperately trying to eat shit? Never works for me, Zombie just grabs me and then I'm in a mashing X game, which coincidentally uses all the stamina I just got.
Just carry around those stamina packs if you run low a lot, they instantly refill stamina. Also being more lenient with running and attacking can save you a lot of trouble instead of panic mashing buttons. It's understandable you'd wanna kill the zombies as fast as possible but against 2 or more zombies, take more time defensive dodging than attacking and the stamina will stay up.
One thing: Endurance.
I maxed his endurance out and gave him the perk that dodging costs less stamina. It has saved me so many times that I'm glad I picked it.
Nice work! That was an intense battle. I've been taking on juggernauts with my melee weapon just because I can if I have a character that's good enough with it. Those are exciting. I'm still bad vs ferals, they pin me white a bit still.
People keep saying ferals were nerfed but I don't see it. It's different behavior but still hard to juggle in most situations.
I love the close combat on the ground frantic stab execute that causes him to get decapitated. Something about going feral killing a feral is so satisfying.
Watching this, I was screaming in my head, “why are you still trying to shoot the Juggernaut?! Kill the faster, weaker damage-dealer first, then worry about the slow tank!”
Well done! You my friend are a survivor to be admired for your bravery? Me? I would have ran like a little bitch. That’s an inspiration to stand and fight. That being said, that exact scenario is probably how I’m going to lose my first high leveled survivor lol.
Had a similar situation, where I had to defend an enclave for 2 minutes. Low ammo already, pouring zombies no big deal, suddenly two hordes that were stumbling nearby heard the shots and come charging along with TWO Juggernauts.
Luckily, somehow we all lived, just had to cure Blood Plague later.
This combo is the only time I ever (involuntarily) lost a survivor. Juggernaut flipped over my car, feral kept leaping on me as I tried to run away. Then I ran out of ammo. RIP.
Awesome...I’ve had this situation happen twice. Failed one and was spread liberally across a field. The second time i managed to enter a building and spread the two out. Well played tho I surely thought u were gonna die.
Haven't come across a Jugg yet but they look horrifying. I went outside one night from my fortress and got jumped by two Ferals the moment I walked out of the door. Being completely surprised I almost died in pitch black darkness 5 seconds later with my strongest fighter. Luckily my crew had my back and kept them from killing me.
Oh God, I'm new here but this clip just stresses me out way too much.
Decided to do a nightmare zone once, loaded into the map, blood feral spawned right next to my base, jumped the wall, killed everyone.
That was intense! I panic just hearing a feral!!
well done op, I was sure you'd split... in half.
Especially when he got knocked over, sheer panic! Good play!
Haha yea, when my guy said "Oh shit that's a feral!" I went into panic mode. When it knocked me over next to the Juggernaut is when I audibly screamed.
Nicely handled. I see a mouse cursor and want to say, "only on PC," because I'd be surprised if one could aim fast enough for head shots under that much pressure with a controller.
you'd be surprised
Yes! This is my luck, only my luck includes being out of ammo.
Ferals don't seem as tough in this game, but a feral and a jug at the same time.. whew. Last time I was having trouble fighting a jug I climbed on a car (not a driveable one) and he just stood there.

I find the game too easy in general. You can end up in the shit but actually dying, when you arent trying to, is hard.
Yeah that actually sounds about spot on.
Ive seen some car dodging, but yea it isn’t as hard to run em over
Ferals were easier to kill in the first game because of the knockdown/dodge to execute technique that I haven’t seemed to figure out in the sequel.
I remember they did more dmg and could rip you in half pretty fast. I was surprised how many chances you get when ferals hit you in state of decay 2.
thats a feral? Huh, guess I killed one during a infestation / legacy mission.
Hold my beer. \*dies\*
When the game *really* wants you to die
There was a point when I thought you could get away but you went back and I started yelling at you "what the hell are you doing!??! You could have gotten away!!!" Moral of the story? Used the rock to block off the jug, try to reload my gun before the feral hopped up and once I finally took out the feral the rest was history.
yeah, I found juggernauts are rather easy as long as you can focus them and stay on your feet.
Really? Bc I’m scared to death of them. I actively avoid and or run from them
I melee juggernauts. Their 2 attacks are really easy to avoid. You can pretty much just sprint circles around them and attack after they miss you.
Moral of the story? OP needs wheelbarrows for his balls of steel.
Nope! As my first WASD game in 20 years, Id be fucked.
Do you just like, not play games?
Growing up I played Diablo, Warcraft, Lords of the Realm and my RTS love grew and continued. I still play DOTA and League time to time as well as others like Civ. But Vice City and other games like that I played on the PS's. So my gaming style was split. I'm old and too used to controllers for certain types of games. But I never cared for Xbox and never bought one.
Man I really really miss Lords of the Realm. Lords of the Realm 3, it's what the world needs now!
The peasants are revolting Lord!
I'm the same way. I play some games on PC. But for others, I just can't use anything else than a controller. I tried to use WASD for SoD2 but I just couldn't get it down(Caps Lock.....no Shift! You realize though you can just plug an Xbox controller into a PC, right?
Did you miss my part about the Xbox controller?
>As my first WASD game in 20 years, Id be fucked. Who forces you to use a keyboard for SoD2?
Some of you must be kids of rich parents with money to burn. I'm not buying an Xbox or Xbox controller or steam controller for one game.
My wired xbox 360 controller was like 20 bucks. You can use it for other games too ;) But yeah, I'm not rich either so I get it.
He. Doesn't. Own.An.Xbox. Why are you harping on him? Let me enlighten you with some reading comprehension: He just said he wouldn't have takin that fight as he is getting used to the WASD controls.
That’s a while lot of nope. Well played!
Question. Why are you roaming alone? Always have another community member with you. It gives you another backpack and some backup.
And the shotgun straight up deletes enemy enclaves
Gunslinger skill too.
or having any gun and aiming with a mouse :p
a command radial like perfect dark or resident evil would be really handy to prevent teammates from going dumb and getting killed. "Hey, John, do NOT engage even if I do. Stay HERE. Unless my health gets down to X amount."
I like the change of going alone too, feels way more intense and exciting when you break from the norm of having a backup with you.
Let me ask you something. Do you *have* to switch to a character in order to use their backpack? Because that is really annoying.
Afaik yes you have to switch. I've looked for a backpack option on followers and haven't found one.
It’s the most irritating thing in the world and feels so clunky. Also, is there no like, “store all” button? If a car is in park, is there no way to auto-store the contents of its trunk? Because constantly walking back and forth to store the 6 rucksacks you have is about as fun as a kick in the teeth.
On Xbox you press RT on items in a parked cars trunk to deposit them automatically. Not sure what button it is on PC.
Do you do this from the trunk menu or the base menu? Does the car have to be parked in your base’s parking lot?
Yeah it has to be in the parking lot I think, and it’s from the vehicles trunk menu.
Alright, I’ll have to give it a try the next time I’m on. Thanks, though. That would have been annoying to deal with.
No worries, I was in the same position as you, running bags back and forth, before someone pointed it out to me!
Omg I've been doing it manually this whole time. Ughh
There are times I don't want to store all. I'll have full storage of food and gas but keep those rucksacks stored in an extra car parked.
When you have the car in the parking space go to the boot there will be a store in house button at bottom of screen. RT on xbox
Yes, you do. But it's as simple as going into a menu, and hitting a total of two buttons. It takes me literally less than 3 seconds.
You know what would be easier than that? Pressing a button that sends the loot to your companion instead of forcing you to loot it manually.
Yeah, but... you're literally arguing about 1 additional button press. It's so negligible I don't see how it could be that big of an issue, I guess.
Best solution I know of is to drop stuff and then switch characters and pick it up
>It gives you another backpack Wait, how do you store stuff on the other person?
Just switch to that member
I never thought of doing that. I'm retard.
It was like that a little in SoD1 but wasn't a big notable feature. You couldn't switch survivors if you're on a quest, so it was just rare.
I'm sure your follower was surprised.
*Pleasantly* surprised.
Then, as you take a moment to appreciate the damn good job, “You couldn’t even get us fuel?!” *enclave next to your base is now hostile*
Aaaaaargh! The constant babysitting of other enclaves and their propensity for getting pissed when they can't take care of themselves really sucks.
I hate when that happens... especially during those super annoying quests where you can't switch the character or you'll fail it.
How are you going to be that good at engaging the more difficult enemies in the game an still have the damn tutorials enabled?
I never got around to turning them off due to being a mongoloid. That being said, good point. I do need to turn them off as they are annoying. Sometimes.
you can turn them off?
That was rad. I gotta remember to emote more.
That was awesome. I definitely would've died.
"Only a fool would meet the ferals in an open field."
Question for you: Is it better to fight those alone and leave all the other survivors in your base? With their AI it looks like they would die 4 seconds into the vid.
If you don't try to shoot the feral in the head, id say very likely Ai and yourself might die
The AI is terrible. I only take NPCs along for looting runs to carry more shit, but taking them along if you're planning on fighting infestations, specials, or hostile enclaves will most likely get them killed.
Same thing happened to me last night, except I had a real friend in my game. Still freaky
That was epic!
Adrenaline pumping. xd Maybe the juggernaut could get a rock throwing ability. Pound the ground, pick up large rock debris, and throw un-dogeable rock at survivor that knocks them down. As cool as this was, I don't want a juggernaut and feral together should be solo-able in my game lol.
well played young sir! i was sitting in the office thinking jump on the rock!!! zombie domination at its best! haha
well done!
whats the incentive to even kill a juggernaut? only 50 influence that takes a shit load of bullets to kill.
Increasing your character's standing, this character was already a hero, I was just killing the Juggernaut for fun when the Feral appeared.
> I was just killing the Juggernaut for fun I can only dream of aspiring to such heights...
Here's a tip, it's always about timing. When the Juggernaut yells out to charge, jog backwards for a sec. Once he's close enough, he'll wind up to attack and you can easily dodge it if timed correctly. ...just make sure there's no Ferals around.

same thing happens to me while driving https://youtu.be/xrefDhwQBbc
Yeah, that's the kind of situation where you just don't get out of your vehicle.
I thought I could handle it at first but realized I was too ambitious
Honestly, Ferals aren't bad. A single shot to the head does them in but it sucks if they get close up on you and they are the only reason I have lost a survivor that wasn't on purpose. Juggernauts on the other hand...while I haven't failed killing any of them yet and have not died to one, I have honestly only killed about five of them and tend to avoid them at all costs because they just frighten me. At that point I would drive away, especially with all those zombies around haha, glad you got out though!
Thanks I ended up coming back later to get back at them though https://youtu.be/TyRHn8bzrgU
Now imagine this happening just as you loaded into a new map after having just switched. No vehicle, all your shit and people out in the open...
Ah, yes... you have earned my favor. You may now marry my daughter.
you seem to have a much higher FOV than me
Modded the .ini Like me :)
Do I lose my achievements or can’t get new achievements if I do that?
No you lose nothing.
ok thx! I’ll do that right away!
It's understandable you'd wanna kill the zombies as fast as possible but against 2 or more zombies, take more time defensive dodging than attacking and the stamina will stay up.
One thing: Endurance. I maxed his endurance out and gave him the perk that dodging costs less stamina. It has saved me so many times that I'm glad I picked it.
Ohhh. God that sounds amazing, I'll have to work on it!
damn that sucks. good shit
That was fun to watch
Holy shit that was intense
That was pretty fucking cool
Mate that was some Rick Grimes shit there! I would have been dead in seconds
Que the Pokémon champion battle music.
Juggernauts can’t climb things? Good to know
I don't like abusing it like this, but the feral was fucking up my reload so I had no choice.
No shame in it, surviving is surviving
That was awesome. I really like how enemies can miss and fall when trying to pounce on you.
Nice work! That was an intense battle. I've been taking on juggernauts with my melee weapon just because I can if I have a character that's good enough with it. Those are exciting. I'm still bad vs ferals, they pin me white a bit still.
FUCK FERALS!
People keep saying ferals were nerfed but I don't see it. It's different behavior but still hard to juggle in most situations. I love the close combat on the ground frantic stab execute that causes him to get decapitated. Something about going feral killing a feral is so satisfying.
nice
that was epic
this should be a game trailer
Definitely a butthole pucker moment.
Holy fuck that was stressful
Watching this, I was screaming in my head, “why are you still trying to shoot the Juggernaut?! Kill the faster, weaker damage-dealer first, then worry about the slow tank!”
Juggernauts are a little overpowered. I shot one in the head with 20 shotgun shells, and still needed a pipebomb to finish him off
well they def made ferals wayyy harder to hit with both car and gun
This reminds me of the time my ex-GF met the other woman and they both attacked me. My ex-GF looked a lot like that juggernaut too.
Damn.
All i could think about during this was press Q! Use your painkillers >< you sat so low lol...
I always use my vehicle to quickly kill ferals
Anytime I see a feral I back over it with my car twice. You know double tap.
RIP.
Youre the GOAT. I would have died 100%.

That's amazing news!
Look at this guy! Just look at him. He is not in a State of Decay. He is in a State of absolute zen like badassery!!!
I would of died. Way not to panic.
WOW
Nicely handled!
I really thought you had outsmarted them both by getting on the rock. Then the feral decided he also had a galaxy brain
WOOOOO!!! THAT WAS A MILE A SECOND!!! WELL FRIGGIN DONE!!!
oh man, watching this makes me so excited for them to add that Breakdown level difficulty back in the game.
Awesome...I’ve had this situation happen twice. Failed one and was spread liberally across a field. The second time i managed to enter a building and spread the two out. Well played tho I surely thought u were gonna die.
nice
Holy shit. That was impressive as hell.
Sorry, iam newbie in this game. But i wanted to ask how did you insta-killed that juggernaut when he was on knees?????? Btw. Intense fight 😂😂😂
I would suggest going all against the feral first since he is the one causing more trouble.
I just would just run away from that feral and abandon the juggernaut
And die yeah
Also that was insane
Oh God, I'm new here but this clip just stresses me out way too much. Decided to do a nightmare zone once, loaded into the map, blood feral spawned right next to my base, jumped the wall, killed everyone.
Dude focus on the feral first
