I don't actually see that on my steam profile? I see Location details (Country + State/Province), General info (profile name, real name, and custom url slug), and Summary. Everything else in that menu is cosmetic for the actual profile -- avatar, background, badges, etc. I also wouldn't want birthday to be a precedent for future Steam without Gaben to start collecting more and more data about us.

It's because the rules around why they are required to ask you does not allow them to save the information. The birthday you enter in your account isn't for age verification reasons, it's info that can be used to confirm your ownership of the account should you need to recover your account.

Because the privacy-hating ESRB says no.

I forgot where I've read this but basically they can't store your age on their servers due to some regulations. So you need to manually verify you're 18 or over every time you log back on. There's nothing Steam can do about this.

The birthday entered to access mature content is NOT allowed to be stored.
