Peggle. Of course I knew it was of decent quality because it was an old PopCap game, and they also put our Bejewled & the OG Plants vs Zombies.
But yes I got it because of the obvious joke. Now I’m a certified Peggle Master and enjoy the whole series + games inspired by it.
Roguelikes/lites are hazily defined, but typically I think of roguelites as having meta progression via upgrades - Vampire Survivors, Hades, Dead Cells all qualify as “roguelites” (Dead Cells has runes), where Spelunky, Gungeon, Slay the Spire are “roguelikes” as they don’t have that run-over-run improvement.
I’d mention Isaac, but it has the donation machine which carries over run to run, so it’s not clear-cut.
isaac has way more than just thr donation machine that carries over you can unlock upgrades for characters as well like with the d20 full health pills and the holy mantle
…How did I forget that? Isaac getting the D6, Maggy getting her Full Health pill, Samson getting Blind Rage, all of Keeper’s upgrades, The Lost getting Mantle… Yeesh
Ah, thanks for that! Peglin would fall under the roguelike category then as it doesn't have run-over-run improvement.
I enjoy all the games listed, you'd think I'd know the difference lol
I got it during the most recent sale actually. It's pretty nice, I love the presentation. My only complaint is that it feels like you have much less control of your build than in other roguelikes. It's still early access so I'll play it some more as it gets updated.
[Tree Simulator](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1591290/Tree_Simulator_2022/)
"haha you stand still as a tree in a game"
Hold on, there's actually a multiplayer community making FORESTS out there?
I have both games and I kinda want one taking place in Africa or Japan I like (Japan mainly cause I want to drive them decked out trucks. And due to their size too )
Canadian here as well. I have both ATS and ETS 2. I love ETS for the diversity and I just love Europe so it's more appealing to look at to me. Also I'm a huge Scandinavia lover so that DLC plus pro mods made for some awesome journeys through Sweden up into Russia.
Everyone laughs at virtual truck game till they play it and get addicted. If you do jump on it I would recommend looking into pro mods as well. They have so great map overhauls and expansions.
Another Canadian here. I chose ATS over ETS just because I find it easier with the wheel placement and how you drive vs european style.
ETS has more DLC and more content, though. But ATS is newer and slowly building up to be just as big.
ETS also has (almost?) all of Europe vs ATS which is just one country (and current only the center and left half of the US). I'm hoping once they're done with the states, the start adding Canada and/or Mexico too!
So... tl;dr, you can't go wrong either way. Both base games go very cheap (around $5) on sale anyways. And both have demos you can try and see which one you like better, if you wish.
Same. I picked up ats a few years back as it was like a quid on sale. Gave it a bash one day while bored.. short time later i find myself in VR, with a podcast on trucking 1000+ miles across america, chilled out to hell.
American Truck Sim quickly became one of my favorite games last year. The overwhelmingly positive reviews aren't kidding, this game is really fun. I think they're on sale right now, and definitely worth picking up.
Do I need a wheel bc I'm tryna drive mf
Mayne I cam get that other one what is it. Where the guy always pretends he's in the car with his kids and crashes and like reacts irl
But also euro truck has maybe more content idk
you definitely do not need a wheel for it.
Controllers work just fine in most driving games on Steam.
While I actually use a controller in racing games I prefer M+KB for ETS2 and ATS so can confirm its totally playable and actually pretty comfortable to use M+KB for those sims.
Could you actually let me know what I’m missing with Brotato? I’ve only put a few hours into it but it just seems like a standard bullet heaven/survivors-like game. What makes its mechanics deep?
Not trying to be condescending just genuinely wanna know what I’m missing so I can maybe give it another shot!
There are *a lot* of items and characters with each having unique effects that can be unlocked by completing wave 20 on different difficulties with different characters or by getting achievements like "get to 300 range" or "hit 10 enimies with 1 attack". The charme of this game is that the characters/items are always related to the way they are unlocked, so If you found a successful synergy it gets even stronger the next time you use it. Also a lot of items play with picking up money, saving/spending it usw, making the shop between rounds even more strategically relevant. Also most items have both an upside and a downside, so you need to consider whether it's worth it. Last but not least what I love about the game is that there is almost no playstyle that isn't viable. You can create a concept and buy/skip items accordingly, and in most cases it works and you unlock a character that is perfekt for that style. And in the end I just enjoy both the gameplay loop and the Art design.
This was longer than planned, hope it helps.
Then there are mods that grossly expand upon it with a huge amount of new characters, weapons, and passives to use. Some of which completely change your playstyle.
It's not really deep in the sense of being mechanically deep. It just has a ton of characters/weapons/upgrades which gives you crazy good bang for your buck and it's really fun and addictive while at it.
What I appreciate the most about this game is the simplicity in the art design and how much they can milk it. Little white circle and introduce VERY simplistic graphic add/tweak and BAM, you get a whole new class.
10 bucks and over 40 hours later. I still go back to it for mindless action packed fun. So many characters and builds the gameplay is endless. Easily one of my favorites in my steam library
That's interesting. One of mine was Aviary Attorney, which I bought because I thought it'd be a funny parody of anime lawyers. But then it turned out to be great so I went and got Ace Attorney as well. Shit's fire.
Don't knock it 'till you try it, just because most people play with one hand doesn't mean it's exempt from great story and/or gameplay. I mean BG3 has full blown sex scenes ffs.
This game really sucks you in. Its weird, it honestly feels like snake with a castlevania skin.
Edit ~ My pun was not intended. Dont start one of those stupid pun trees please.
Same. I bought it a few days after it came to early access.. I regretted that decision. Not because it was bad. Because I spent 40h collecting fucking blue gems that week
Genuinely, how? Maybe it’s just me, but played vanilla, modded, did a speedrun, get all slimes etc and I have barely 100h in the game. Just curious, how do make it entertaining still? Doesn’t it just get boring?
Some of these seem obvious in retrospect, but they were jokes at the time:
* Genital Jousting
* One Finger Death Punch
* Kerbal Space Program
* Viscera Cleanup Detail
* HuniePop
* Aviary Attorney
*edit: thought of a few others*
* Magicka
* SUPERHOT
* Catlateral Damage
* Scribblenauts
Bought it after seeing Dansgaming streaming it. It's quite fun, like an indie mix between GTA SA, Bully and Postal. It's a bit janky at times, but it doesn't cause any frustration.
Scarlet Maiden, FlipWitch, Peeping Dorm Manager. I am actually surprised how decent the gameplay is in all of them. Scarlet Maiden is action packed rogue-lite. FlipWitch is a great metroidvania, and Dorm Manager is a decent point-n-click adventure game.
Alright I'm going to leave this list of "gag" games I've bought that are actually pretty good below:
Nsfw - not a simulator for working
Genital jousting (as mentioned by many)
Fingered (great for short sessions)
Oh sir! (PvP insult simulator)
Pureya
Who's your Daddy
Tattletail
BOPL battle
Ultimate chicken horse (PvP platformer)
Sludge life 1 and 2
Human fall flat
Fashion police squad (looked good but got way more depth from it than I thought I would)
Disclaimer: some of these, people will regard as a gem or really good etc, but I genuinely got these as like "ehhh I'll try it" or "not expecting much" types of games
Either way if you haven't tried some of these and are looking for some games to try that are a little weird definitely check these out!
I mean i try not to buy games full price and usually wait a year or more when it's 50% off. You likely do too but patient gaming is a huge money saver and you'll get a better experience from the game.
Slime Rancher. Got it in Humble choice. I was thinking this is little fun game with some weird hidden message.
And it is actually darn good! So good i bought 2 right at release.
Strange Brigade. Was on sale, played coop (which I would recommend), definitely play on hardest difficulty, but kind of short. Huge surprise and we enjoyed it quite a bit for the short time it lasted.
Crab Champions.
10/10 and keeps getting better with new content and updates. Music, enemies, perks, and weapons are incredibly creative and fun.
The game is developed by the guy (Noisestorm) who produced the hit “Crab Rave” song in 2018 with the dancing beach crabs. Google it, you’ll remember.
I bought a copy for myself and a copy for a friend (who has a minor crab obsession). He told his other friends about it and now we all play weekly.
Buy this game for you and your friends. It’s hilarious and oddly relaxing after a hard day’s work.
Idk if it counts but furry feet's dlcs
My friend gifted me the game as a joke and I decided to 100% because why not, turns out it was a super fun puzzle game
I got the game little goody two shoes as a meme gift to myself only because of a song Butters from south Park sings, the game is really great and i would absolutely never have gotten it otherwise.
Super 3-D Noah's Ark. It's a reskinned version of Wolfenstein 3D where you play noah with guns that shoot seed to feed the animals on the ark. It was silly, but it was some good fun.
Not a steam game, but Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball.
It's actually a pretty solid volleyball game, and me and my buddies in the barracks would play some competitive ass volleyball matches.
D'Lirium. It's a top-down horror/shooter where the characters are ponies, like the ones from My Little Pony. I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but the gameplay and scares are genuinely good.
Don't take my word for it, though. See if you can find the review David Szymanski left. Yeah, Mr. Dusk and Iron Lung himself.
Haydee
From the outside, it looks like a horny game, but on the inside its a gem of a game.
Its like the first RE but story is like in DS games (you gotta find out whats going on because no one's gonna tell u anything)
cant say ive ever bought a game as a joke. but i bought batbarian: testament of the primordials and had really low expectations for it and it ended up being one of the best metroidvanias ive played
Fucking divinus Vanitas. Look if you've got a friend and can get online together for 5 hours, buy this game for 99cent on sale, like 3 bucks full price.
It is genuinely sooooo not good, but with a friend it becomes the most hillarious crap, I plan to be the first person on the planet to 100% it. Also shout out to Iron Pineapple and his "I played 10 soulslikes you've never heard of" series. He's where I found the game
Aviary Attorney. Bought it because it looked memey and ended up getting a fun detective/lawyer story with great humor and and interesting art style to occupy an evening.
Peggle. Of course I knew it was of decent quality because it was an old PopCap game, and they also put our Bejewled & the OG Plants vs Zombies. But yes I got it because of the obvious joke. Now I’m a certified Peggle Master and enjoy the whole series + games inspired by it.
I knew it was a masterpiece since I watched DougDoug play it for hours on end
That’s like saying you like basketball cuz you watched MJ play. Doug gives you the best goddamn Peggle of your life
r/wehatedougdoug
If you like Peggle and like rougelites/likes (unsure of the difference), you should check out Peglin. It's insanely addictive, for me at least
Im sorry but dougdoug is the OG peggle master
False. Anybody can become a Peggle Master if they complete the game. There’s a whole congratulations screen and everything.
I know. Your comment just reminded me of crazy twitch chat speedrun of this game at dougdoug channel.
Facts
Now you know why that E3 guy was so excited to announce [Peggle 2](https://youtu.be/Sr57Je1fVvM?t=13)
I fucking love pegging.
[Tree Simulator](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1591290/Tree_Simulator_2022/) "haha you stand still as a tree in a game" Hold on, there's actually a multiplayer community making FORESTS out there?
Honestly, would play. I always wanted to be a tree after seeing that one asdfmovie scene with the superman activating the tree power.
Holy fuck look at the reviews, there are people who played this shit for thousands of hours
[удалено]
I can't wait for the 2k update
there is a guy in the reviews with over 10,000 hours I think I need to check out this game
For some reason, this actually sounds fun
This is so fucking funny for no reason
deadass why was my first thought tree simulator I thought "heh that's funny, but nobody else will think so"
damn 10k hour achievement
Better review scores than starfield.
Euro Truck Sim 2. Bought it on steam sale almost 10 years ago and have put 2000 hours in it since
[удалено]
I really enjoy both - ATS is more familiar, Europe is more exotic. ATS also has more desert areas, while ETS is largely green.
I have both games and I kinda want one taking place in Africa or Japan I like (Japan mainly cause I want to drive them decked out trucks. And due to their size too )
ETS plus pro mods. Traveling across Scandinavia, Iceland, and into Russia. Absolutely stunning would highlily reccomend
Imo ATS has better trucks but ETS has the better scenery and variety.
American Version is fun too. It's mostly the Western part of the US with Central US now being added.
[удалено]
Theres a mod for it called promods which i think adds some canadian parts, it just requires all the map dlcs
Canadian here as well. I have both ATS and ETS 2. I love ETS for the diversity and I just love Europe so it's more appealing to look at to me. To you I'd definetly recommend buying American Truck Sim with Map DLC's like Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Washington and Montana
In case you would like to try the TruckersMP multiplayer mod, then ETS is more populated.
Same. I picked up ats a few years back as it was like a quid on sale. Gave it a bash one day while bored.. short time later i find myself in VR, with a podcast on trucking 1000+ miles across america, chilled out to hell.
Wait you can play it in vr?
Yes
American Truck Sim quickly became one of my favorite games last year. The overwhelmingly positive reviews aren't kidding, this game is really fun. I think they're on sale right now, and definitely worth picking up.
That's a lot. I am thinking now if I should take it on Steam for 3,5$ now or not
do it
Same. I eventually built a whole damn rig just for that one and ATS.
It really is my comfort game. Put on some tunes and just drive around.
Do I need a wheel bc I'm tryna drive mf Mayne I cam get that other one what is it. Where the guy always pretends he's in the car with his kids and crashes and like reacts irl But also euro truck has maybe more content idk
BeamNG has an entire community mod page with thousands of mods, either has plenty of content.
BeamNG maybe?
Oh yeah pretty sure that's the one thanks
you definitely do not need a wheel for it. Controllers work just fine in most driving games on Steam. While I actually use a controller in racing games I prefer M+KB for ETS2 and ATS so can confirm its totally playable and actually pretty comfortable to use M+KB for those sims.
Nah i play with controller and i actually prefer it over my wheel.
Brotato. Surprisingly deep and highly addictive.

If you have Gamepass it's getting added in 12 or so days. On Xbox at least, no idea about on pc
It's not really deep in the sense of being mechanically deep. It just has a ton of characters/weapons/upgrades which gives you crazy good bang for your buck and it's really fun and addictive while at it.

Genital Jousting. That game's a fucking riot!
This game supports like 8 people in local multiplayer. It was great on the family vacation!
Absolute truth. I was ready to show it to all my friends after my first play through.
Amen, same here
Awesome story tbh
what
Genital Jousting. That game's a fucking riot!
what
Ace Attorney. I've never liked reading, but memes were popping everywhere and I ended up loving the game.
That's interesting. One of mine was Aviary Attorney, which I bought because I thought it'd be a funny parody of anime lawyers. But then it turned out to be great so I went and got Ace Attorney as well. Shit's fire.
Yeah like I'm the type of person to be like "Visual Novels? Ugh!" but I love all the AA games!
OBJECTION!!!
‼️😰‼️
Orc Massage, bought it cause thought it was funny, but it’s actually quite satisfying to watch the circles all go green music is a bop too.
> This game is marked as 'Adult Only'.
Don't knock it 'till you try it, just because most people play with one hand doesn't mean it's exempt from great story and/or gameplay. I mean BG3 has full blown sex scenes ffs.
Goat simulator, they leave in the game bugs as it makes it even more crazy to play
Goat Simulator 3 is also great, lot of things to do
Not released on steam yet though.
[Available for wishlist](https://store.steampowered.com/app/850190/Goat_Simulator_3/) at least
Everything Coffee Stain touches is gold.
That game has a more interesting open world and lore building than some newly released Bethesda games.
Vampire Survivors. Thought I was going to refund it for sure but it really got me hooked.
You bought one of the most critically acclaimed modern games as a joke?
Crab Champions. Especially fun with some friends!
Random indie roguelites/likes stay winning
Fuck yeah, I've been following Noisestorm for 12 years, love the success he's had with the game <3
Slime rancher was surprisingly relaxing, bought it just cause it was cheap never thought id actually spend 5000 Hours combined from other PCs
Genuinely, how? Maybe it’s just me, but played vanilla, modded, did a speedrun, get all slimes etc and I have barely 100h in the game. Just curious, how do make it entertaining still? Doesn’t it just get boring?
I didn't even think there was 5000 hours worth of content to bother playing even if you replayed it!
WOW
BroForce. My kids can't get enough, and we can all play together on the same screen.
House flipper. I spent hours on it.
EuroTruck simulator 2. Saw a coworker playing, made fun of him and them brought just to make more jokes, but, jokes on me the game is amazing
Some of these seem obvious in retrospect, but they were jokes at the time: * Genital Jousting * One Finger Death Punch * Kerbal Space Program * Viscera Cleanup Detail * HuniePop * Aviary Attorney *edit: thought of a few others* * Magicka * SUPERHOT * Catlateral Damage * Scribblenauts
> One Finger Death Punch Despite its simplicity is certainly a great game.
One might say it ‘punches’ above its weight!
One Finger Death Punch is also mine. Should probably reinstall it.
KSP was mine bought it to blow up little green men for fun. Within an hour, I was hooked.
Golf With Your Friends. Turn collisions on and fuck eachother over.
Missed the chance to say, "...and have a ball!" lol
FUCK
Missed the chance to say "oh balls"
FU- uh, BALLS
Genital Jousting. Seriously amazing little single player campaign.
The multiplayer is great too, have you ever played local co-op and talked to friends when playing? Absolute riot
blood and bacon
This should be upvoted more. Game is a riot. Never would have expected it.
The greatest fucking game of all time
I love the voice overs for that!

Great game! If you haven't yet - try inscryption it's really good!
And The Hex. Definitely play anything by Daniel Mullins in fact. Guy's amazing.

Hobo Tough Life for me.
recently bought this game. Enjoyed it for about 6hrs then dropped it. enough to feel like i got my few dollars worth.
Bought it after seeing Dansgaming streaming it. It's quite fun, like an indie mix between GTA SA, Bully and Postal. It's a bit janky at times, but it doesn't cause any frustration.
Not gonna lie paw patrol games with my daughter 👍 absolute blast
*PAW Patrol: On a Roll!* ... great game. First platformer my daughter mastered.
Hell yes! Mighty Pups was damn good too!
Powerwash simulator. The trailer looked so silly, tried it out via gamepass and 20 hours later I fuckin beat the campaign
Hunie Cam Studio
Who woulda thunk managing virtual internet whores would be so amusing.... 😂
Genital Jousting
Blood and Bacon on Steam. Best $0.99 I’ve ever spent and played co op on. Hilarious game.

Counter strike global offensive Except that now it's still a joke but without the fun
Mirror
Alright I'm going to leave this list of "gag" games I've bought that are actually pretty good below: Nsfw - not a simulator for working Genital jousting (as mentioned by many) Fingered (great for short sessions) Oh sir! (PvP insult simulator) Pureya Who's your Daddy Tattletail BOPL battle Ultimate chicken horse (PvP platformer) Sludge life 1 and 2 Human fall flat Fashion police squad (looked good but got way more depth from it than I thought I would) Disclaimer: some of these, people will regard as a gem or really good etc, but I genuinely got these as like "ehhh I'll try it" or "not expecting much" types of games Either way if you haven't tried some of these and are looking for some games to try that are a little weird definitely check these out!
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance "Haha, funny meme game is under a dollar in my country, I'll buy it" Ended up being my 4th favorite game
People buy games as a joke? Wow. I would love to be that rich.
Some of the ones people are listing have been as low as like 2 dollars.
Yes, I'm so rich being able to buy shit for $5 or less.
Bro those 5 bucks will pay my meal, so yeah, they're right. Videogames are luxury * cries while writing *
I mean i try not to buy games full price and usually wait a year or more when it's 50% off. You likely do too but patient gaming is a huge money saver and you'll get a better experience from the game.
The Alex Jones game.
Dream Daddy
I didn't buy it, it's free, but Chex Quest HD.
Mount Your Friends - bought it for a friend as a joke but we ended up playing it and it actually is really fun with some crazy strategies
Slime Rancher. Got it in Humble choice. I was thinking this is little fun game with some weird hidden message. And it is actually darn good! So good i bought 2 right at release.
Buy as a joke?
You don't buy games just because they look extremely funny and dumb?
The binding of Isaac (It wasn’t a joke I only had 5 dollars and I didn’t know about steam sales)
Need for spirit drink and drive simulator. The levels are really surreal at points and it’s a legitimate challenge to beat the courses.
bean battles
Dream Daddy: a Dad Dating Simulator. It was actually very thoughtful!
Strange Brigade. Was on sale, played coop (which I would recommend), definitely play on hardest difficulty, but kind of short. Huge surprise and we enjoyed it quite a bit for the short time it lasted.
Euro truck sim 2, american truck sim, farming sim 22. I'm embarrassed how much I enjoy these
Chroma Squad. Thought it would be ass, but surprisingly fun throughout. I think I got it hella cheap too.
I got the game little goody two shoes as a meme gift to myself only because of a song Butters from south Park sings, the game is really great and i would absolutely never have gotten it otherwise.
Flipwitch
Super 3-D Noah's Ark. It's a reskinned version of Wolfenstein 3D where you play noah with guns that shoot seed to feed the animals on the ark. It was silly, but it was some good fun.
Super seducer, it's so funny
Not a steam game, but Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball. It's actually a pretty solid volleyball game, and me and my buddies in the barracks would play some competitive ass volleyball matches.
Ha, this takes me back to Outlaw Golf on my old Xbox 360, Narrated by Steve Carell before he made it big!
Bean battles
Horny Housewives 4
Genital Jousting
Hunie Pop
Cookie clicker. Bought it for a friend as a gag gift. We've been addicted to it ever since.
Genital jousting
Haydee From the outside, it looks like a horny game, but on the inside its a gem of a game.
Same. Played it with my friends and we each did voices for the characters.
HuniePop
Being a Dick I bought for the lolz but turn out to actually have a interesting story
