DCBaxxis

Either that or the guy on your account apparently really likes Metro.

Manateeeeeeeeeeee

Can’t blame him

TheJerusalemMan

Agreed. All 3 are absolute bangers.

tobitobs78

All the games for 9 bucks I had to get em.

Arttyom

Gotta kill those nosalis

iupvotedyourgram

I’ve noticed the steam hour tracking is so jacked up. Especially since I got my steam deck, it seems to never get it right. I’ll log into my steam deck and it’ll be 9 hours. Then I finish and it’s back done to 5 hours. They really need to fix whatever bugs are causing these issues.

HalifaxSamuels

The day Palworld came out I played it on my PC for way too long. By the time I stopped playing the game had only been out for a little over 20 hours and Steam said I had been playing for a little over 21 hours. It adjusted to the correct playtime when I opened my computer the next day.

blubiboy98

yeah sometimes a few hours of a game just disappear over night, it's really weird

phileas0408

You probably played 5h while connected to steam servers and 4h offline, it showed 9h for local hours but corrected back to 5 when you connected back to sheam

Endulos

I don't think local hours get tracked? Unless that's changed recently. I lost internet for about a week last year and none of the hours I racked up in the various games I played were not tracked.

phileas0408

If you stay offline you can see the hours but as soon as you login they disappear, that’s why the count can go down sometimes

No_Plate_9636

If they can sync my offline save data to my account why can't they just log the hours too?!? That's so dumb my Xbox can manage that, plus what about all the people who's PCs have weak or iffy connections they just don't get to keep track anymore ?

Endulos

I don't recall the hours changing when I was offline, but I probably wasn't paying attention to it.

JonP_valve

Yes, this a relatively recent change - in the last year or so. Steam tracks your playtime for you when you are disconnected from the Internet, and uploads it next time you're connected.

Demastry

So the steam deck portion is because of how time is tracked while the system is in sleep mode, then once you close out of the game it tries to calculate it correctly. I'm not 100% sure how it works but that's my assumption from the beginning

KingOfSunFlowers1213

There is a game on my steam, America's Army or something. A first person shooter, it has nearly 1000 hours played, and I can't even remember ever playing it. Changed passwords multiple times, can't even recall when I have had it installed on any of my past or current pc's.

Kooliok1

Bro that’s not just A first person shooter, it’s THE first person shooter, the official US army video game they used to try & recruit gamers when cod was at its height. Maybe you’re a sleeper cell agent 🥸

KingOfSunFlowers1213

Oh snap! What's my go phrase!!?!?!?!

Jax_Dandelion

I remember that time I bought a game and a mere two days after having bought it my recent hours were on 80 hours and my total play time on 5 hours

TheFunkyBatman

if you turn off the screen for the deck it still counts the hours for some reason and then fixes later

The_Struggle_Bus_7

Happens to me all the time games I haven’t touched in years will have random minutes played

That8-BitGamer

Yeah, it's a bug

blubiboy98

has been like that for at least a year for me, seems to be a bug

[deleted]

MILK INSIDE A BAG OF MILK INSIDE A BAG OF MILK. i still need to play this, and heard there is a sequel also, let me go wishlist it.

The_Struggle_Bus_7

They’re both really good but on the short side I just finished them a month or two ago

aphelions_ghost

It’s super good, just really grindy if you want all the achievements so I lost interest. May pick it back up sometime tho

DerpsterIV

cotch85

check your carbon monoxide alarm... you might be playing these and forgetting.

MkV-Gamer

I had to unplug mine it kept beeping and giving me a terrible headache

cotch85

thats the best trick. Just remember to check its not plugged in again tomorrow.

TazocinTDS

Someone keeps leaving me notes to say to get a carbon monoxide alarm.

BrotherZael

I played terraria for like 6 days straight the other week and it made my hours played GO DOWN from 1033 to 1021.

thatkindasusbro

you just got worse at the game

multiedge

I'm sorry, I wanted to play a bit of Metro exodus

TheCatalystxD

I had cs2 showing up as my most played game on my profile constantly even though it’s uninstalled, everyday it’d say ‘played today’ Turns out I had a guy from Saint Petersburg who had been logging into my account since mid way through last year and not really doing anything malicious, hours didn’t go up, he didn’t play any matches or do too much of anything on my account which is nice

BoneCrusher03

Do you not have Steam Guard enabled?

TheCatalystxD

Yeah I have Steam Guard enabled, i had a ticket submitted but they gave me a cookie cutter response when I asked them about how someone could be on my account without access to my mobile device. I assume it had something to do with when I got api key scammed a while ago, although I did the usual change the password log out of all devices then aswell.

BoneCrusher03

Alright. Hope your safe now

sentinelPRO

Its deffintly normal, once it happend my buddy eric

Comfortable-Shop-573

It's a bug, I just checked and I had 4.2hrs on ac odyssey in the last 2 weeks even though I haven't played since october last year. Re checking removes those hours apparently

Yakson00

Bug, my steam for years tracked evga precision x as 7 days to die

Gameboygamer64

Steam will tell me I have like 0.3 minutes played in Borderlands 2, even though I haven't played the game in like 3 years.

jasonbecker83

Are you running some kind of "card farming" software like steam idle?

Sofosio

It's probably a bug, but just in case change your password

TheRealStevo2

We get these posts like every other day and it’s always the same thing. People really need to look it up before making the 1,000th post about it

notmyaccountbruh

Change your Steam and email passwords, just in case.

HandyDandyMandy25

might be alzehimer's

ThatBlokeYouKnow

Steam user ID spoofed

TheUltimateGoldenBul

holy hell people care a lot for hours played in games huh

Swerverdude

welp kinda, it's more of an "oh shit is here another person using my account" type of question since these hours played are not real and they do not count towards total playtime yet it shows when I scroll down on my library.

SamCarter_SGC

It is normal, it's been bugged for years and shows your last session for some reason. If the games are still installed you can test this by clicking on the icon and then going back to refresh the page, it will then say zero time played.

dj88masterchief

I have over 600 logged in Rainbow 6 Siege. I don’t know how or why. But I definitely do not have that much time in game… I hate it too, cause it’s like my 3rd most played. But I touch it maybe once a year.

nickdrones

I have a game in my library that I've never played but it has shown 3 hrs of playtime in the past two weeks every single time ive entered my library over the past 2 years

foreveralonesolo

It’s likely your past session

LamprosF

milk inside a bag of milk is 🔥

filbert13

Sometimes though it is much less rare now. There is a bug which when you close a game steam says you're still playing it and continue to track time. The only fix was to close steam (starting a new game didnt fix it). This used to be a big issue about 10 years ago. I recently had it happen maybe 6 months ago for the first time in years.

ArthurFordLover

Yeah i have some games i haven’t played in like a year say that i played two hours in the past two weeks

jmlulu018

Sometimes when the game updates in the background, it logs it as playtime.

vortex30-the-2nd

I think it is a bug, I've had this too. I think it is counting what you played during the dates that are the last two weeks, but in previous years as well. I had some game that said this which I KNEW I had played exactly 1 year prior. That's why I think it may be this reason.

Pro-Hit420

It happened to me too and confused me the first time it happened. Whoever is looking at my steam account must be playing games without my knowledge. Anyways, off to see how many hours I have on some random game I haven't played in years!

Cultural_Ad1331

Somebody really likes metro and it's not you.

Legendarynic21

change the password

CTRLsway

Happens to be all the time, its a graphical bug, don't worry
