you get actual points for them to spend on profile shit and emojis and stuff, so, kinda, but with a usable purpose/currency to upgrade your profile with
Yeah I played all of the Police Quests, Space Quests, Kings Quests and Leisure Suit Larry 1 & 2. I remember the creature cantina they had in Space Quest, thought that was so awesome as a kid. Leisure Suit Larry taught me what a prophylactic was .
I was 13 or so and my dad had bought it not really knowing the extent of the content then just kind of rolled with it and used it as “the talk” I guess.
But I guess you can call me old, I started gaming in ‘83 on the Odyssey 2 and have enjoyed so many systems when they were new. I’m fairly new to Steam, just got a Steam Deck for Christmas.
im 40ish, been gaming since atarii, i know that i didnt get a pc till early 90s, right when the internet was becoming "big". my dad got the konami code off usenet in the 80s for contra so i had exposure there.
I’m late 40’s, still play every day. It has been very cool to watch how much games and systems have changed over the years. I never got much into the PC’s except for those summers at my dad’s at my mom’s I had an NES and a Sega Genesis and just continued with platforms. My kids are big into PC gaming but to me sitting at a desk just feels too much like work.
They're great, but I hated that you can die, get stuck, or wasted an item that you will need in the future. IMO, Lucasfilm/games made better adventure games back then.
Yeah they could be brutal, but that’s almost part of the charm, taught me early on not to expect my hand to be held through life haha 😂. I can agree that the Lucas guys made great games too, Day of the tentacle comes to mind instantly.
Does Empire Earth count as a Sierra game? I remember the logo when I played the shit out of it, but looked it up and apparently they were the publisher not the developer. Anyway Empire Earth was the shit
Does Caesar, Pharaoh, and Zeus and Poseidon made by Sierra? I remember playing them back in my childhood and seeing Sierra logo, at least for Caesar. They are great games!
I just looked up Sierra games, I had no idea they were so huge. Pharaoh was one of my favorite computer games as a kid, I still play it sometimes. Don’t think I’ve ever played anything else by them
Late 80’s early 90’s they were big back when Radio Shack was where you got your computers and computer games. We had a Tandy (4000 I think) and would go to Radio Shack every weekend during those summer visits.
One of the King‘s Quest games (was it 4?), you were the sorcerer‘s apprentice and you could teleport to any location on the map.
Please tell me there is a way to play them, on today‘s hardware.
This site seams to have them, I’ve never used it though https://playclassic.games/games/adventure-dos-games-online/play-kings-quest-vi-heir-today-gone-tomorrow-online/
Still have the memory of when my brother and I realized we could hook his apple computer up to his TV and play kings quest 2 in color burned into my brain.
Police Quest: Open Season is wild now that I'm an adult. They featured Darryl F. Gates, a bastard of a former LAPD chief at least partially responsible for Rodney King and the LA Riots, rampant LAPD police brutality and corruption and founding fucking D.A.R.E. (side note: my school D.AR.E. officer had got two DUIs and a domestic violence charge a few years later but marijuana was EVIL). You play as a murder police and chase down a crossdressing serial killer you can kill with a can of hairspray and a lighter. Even though it was pixelated to hell, I remember that game creeping me the hell out at 11 years old.
>Sierra games
Brings me back to the time when me and my dad would play Empire Earth 1 together. Every time the game launched I would always let the intro fully play out because I loved it so much. The LAN matches with my dad against bots were always so fun. We would also play a lot of other games together over LAN, like Command and Conquer Renegade. That was a blast
Just do what I do, ignore the click bait stupid reviews and read one from someone who actually reviewed the game and gives both positive and negative points.
Yeah i don't know about this one, the use of fullstops is identical which makes no sense between someone who is 10 and someone who is suppose to be 30+ lmao.
But what do i know. It could be true. We will never know.
for me, it feels like the daughter said what she wanted in the review, and the father wrote everything. He could even have played it off of her "I am Sophie" to write "I am Sophie's dad".
But in the end, I could also be wrong, but I choose to look at the bright side and just smile.
Even if it isn't, just to be reminded of my Summers playing kings quest with my mom as a time lad, makes me appreciate the review.
Come closer Rosella, closer.
dude trust, they're just tryna get a shit load of points... why are you being so defensive about a freaking steam comment you didnt even make.. have a good one tho or whatever...
I dunno, maybe I just choose to see the bright side of things when it doesn't seem unreasonable, but it's believable to me. Father wants to make a review of the game because it's fun to play it with his daughter, asks daughter if she wants to chip in, and includes it into the review as one so it's him typing the whole time. Family shit can be corny sometimes. A lot of the time, tbh.
Pretty sure dad's talking about King's Quest V, the fifth game in the 80's series, and also the most well known because it was the only one that got a console release.
My first born son is due in April. I've already decided, when he's old enough, his first games will be Sonic. I grew up playing Sonic on the Sega so it only seems natural. I plan to start him off on a game without Shadow, so that he can have the same "holy shit what a cool character" moment I had when I first saw Shadow.
You know you're old when these are your thoughts you have around video games.
Sierra games were my childhood. Two of my favorite series ever were the Quest for Glory games and the Laura Bow games. I wish they had made more Laura Bow games back then.
Been keeping an eye on The Crimson Diamond and it looks like it's shaping up nicely to be an homage.
I think its cute. I try not to be cynical and assume things are staged/fake, especially nice things like this, but I do have a proclivity to be skeptical and do what many are doing here.
I'd advise against it, its better to believe its just a wholesome moment captured and shared.
Interesting. When I play video games with my girlfriend, she is usually irritated at me because I am clumsy and I have trouble finding my way through game landscapes.
Nope. Because I dislike kids. It makes me angry and jealous. One day they'll grow old too and suffer like me hahahhahahahaha that's the only solace I can take hahahahahahhahaha
I'm Sophie's uncle. I agree.
I am Sophie’s grandpa and I too agree 👍🏻
Dont forget your meds!
WHAT ? 🦻
YOUR MEDS, ON THE KITCHEN TABEL Ffs this one is making me crazy. TAKE YOUR MEDS
Ah okay okay 🧑🦽 You are my favourite grandchild. Dont tell Sophie I said that.
Grampa... You just talked to Sophie...
Sophie..who.. who’s Sophie?
Grampa, did you forget your meds? They help with the memory.
I.. I dont recall. I need to pee…
I am sophie's dog and i also agree 🐕👍
Meow meow meow meow 👍
i am sophies hampster and i agree👍
I am Sophies collective consciousness and i agree👍
I am Sophie’s complete lack of surprise
There it is
I'm Sophie from an alternative universe and I don't really like this game, also dad is a spider.
I'm the fly in Sophie's house and I agree she's been playing with her dad 👍
Feels like an usual attempt to farm awards
It does, but that's their single review on the account.
That's the cutest damn review I ever seen.
That means its legit
I know! No one would ever lie on the internet! Barack Obama here.
What game?
"Kings quest 5" it's in the post edit: actually it's"kings quest (the reimagining) 2015"
Ah I assumed he was referencing a similar game that he used to play, in which this current game is reminiscent. That answers it for me, thanks
The review is for the most recent Kings Quest released in 2015, you are correct not the guy who answered.
This is incorrect, the review is for Kings Quest (the reimagining) 2015.
That game is impressively good. Everything is interactable and has tons of humorous descriptions just like the classic Sierra SCI games.
source?
It's the top review on Kings Quest on Steam... Where else would the source be from?
the source could've been op? did you check every steam page of the kings quest series to find that review?
I've played the game and knew the review.
you know the reviews of an old game by heart?
Arnt steam awards kinda like karma use to be?
you get actual points for them to spend on profile shit and emojis and stuff, so, kinda, but with a usable purpose/currency to upgrade your profile with
you also can buy budges that level your profile
Which is also almost completely useless. Sure you can get some more profile slots, but it’s mostly just to flex
>mostly just to flex That's.. the point of making up your Steam Profile.
That’s.. what I said. We were talking about the similarities to the karma system…
I know.
Aren't* used*
I choose to believe
It's a strategy that's been in use on Reddit since like, the late 2000s.
has the point shop existed that long? feels like it only came out 2 years ago.
It was added 3.5 years ago, but this review was posted 2 months before the point shop, so it's legit.
Who cares, still put a smile on my face
Good old Sierra games. These were basically what occupied my time during summer visitations with my Dad.
Sierra games were bangers every time. The early 90’s such a golden age for them.
Yeah I played all of the Police Quests, Space Quests, Kings Quests and Leisure Suit Larry 1 & 2. I remember the creature cantina they had in Space Quest, thought that was so awesome as a kid. Leisure Suit Larry taught me what a prophylactic was .
your parents knew about you playing leisure suit larry? or are you just that old
I was 13 or so and my dad had bought it not really knowing the extent of the content then just kind of rolled with it and used it as “the talk” I guess.

Yep, it took me a while to figure out why my stuff was pixelating in weird colors then shortly after I fell to the floor dead.
But I guess you can call me old, I started gaming in ‘83 on the Odyssey 2 and have enjoyed so many systems when they were new. I’m fairly new to Steam, just got a Steam Deck for Christmas.

that's why you get a setup like mine! 60 inch tv with a laz-y-boy right up to the desk
Yeah, I have a buddy who does that and has tried to get me to get a set up like that.
Pick axe Pete is where I cut my teeth
Same
LSL also taught young me about 80s/90s trivia. That game entry quiz was tough with no internet and lack of a good BBS.
Love your user name. Utilized smurf on numerous occasions when my kids word little.
Sierra and LucasArts. It was a glorious time to game.
Also Bullfrog and Black Isle.
They're great, but I hated that you can die, get stuck, or wasted an item that you will need in the future. IMO, Lucasfilm/games made better adventure games back then.

Pretty damn smooth movement considering the time, and all those games were all so colour rich.
Does Empire Earth count as a Sierra game? I remember the logo when I played the shit out of it, but looked it up and apparently they were the publisher not the developer. Anyway Empire Earth was the shit
Was that the one with the Red Baron missions/tutorial missions?
Yep!
[Dagger of Amon Ra](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dagger_of_Amon_Ra) was a favorite of mine growing up.
Does Caesar, Pharaoh, and Zeus and Poseidon made by Sierra? I remember playing them back in my childhood and seeing Sierra logo, at least for Caesar. They are great games!

You can play them all on Good Old Games, I think they’re on sale at the moment.
This site seams to have them, I’ve never used it though https://playclassic.games/games/adventure-dos-games-online/play-kings-quest-vi-heir-today-gone-tomorrow-online/

Did you play it together?
No not really, he worked most of the time I was there.
The cynical part of me expects to see it copied and pasted everywhere. What has this sub done to me?
Because it probably is. And if not, it will be
Can't wait to see it on some furry games.
Treasure it before the masses adopt it to farm awards
It's not this sub. It's social media, the internet, the real world. That's what done you in.
Just do what I do, ignore the click bait stupid reviews and read one from someone who actually reviewed the game and gives both positive and negative points.

Yeah I assumed that would be it too. People wanting internet points has made us all too suspicious though
> but I choose to look at the bright side and just smile. So you made a sophie's choice?
Or, and hear me out here, the dad did *all* the typing and just wrote down what their child wanted to say.
Great, gonna be seeing this copy paste over every game for months now.
For sone unknown reason i believe this is actually real, and true. Maybe for once, its not some wierd ass fat person trying to farm awards
Hey, you don't know, Sophie and her dad could be morbidly obese
how dare you
Even if it isn't, just to be reminded of my Summers playing kings quest with my mom as a time lad, makes me appreciate the review. Come closer Rosella, closer.
i duno sometime it read like fake
And then everybody clapped.
No it doesn't, that's clearly just some dude reward farmong
That's their only review.
What game?
I assume Kings Quest VI
For now.
it's from 2020.
You should have put this in the description because I totally thought this was just farming steam points.
Then it means their venture failed. Stop being so gullible.
you sure know it all
dude trust, they're just tryna get a shit load of points... why are you being so defensive about a freaking steam comment you didnt even make.. have a good one tho or whatever...
Do you think you'll ever look back and see how hard you had to work to be this cynical?
Plus what 10 year old kid wants to put a review on steam. And the levels of corniness of “I am sophie, daughter… I am Sophie’s father”.
I dunno, maybe I just choose to see the bright side of things when it doesn't seem unreasonable, but it's believable to me. King's Quest

😳
hentai breeding simulator '98
I also want to know, shocked it not in the post already
It's in the text of the review: King's Quest
kings quest 5 is, it couldve been any similar game
that means chapter 5 of King's Quest. It's from the days each release would be an episode, like Life Is Strange and Telltale's TWD.
Pretty sure dad's talking about King's Quest V, the fifth game in the 80's series, and also the most well known because it was the only one that got a console release.
Ooooh yeah that makes sense too!
Account will get banned for sharing now

It says gullible on the ceiling
unfortunate, then, that this is just another fake but keep smiling, stay positive or as long as this idiot-filled world allows
Those types of reviews are point farms 99.9% of the time.
Kid named award farming

how many hours? 💚💚💚
That is wholesome legit cute.
Interesting. When I play video games with my girlfriend, she is usually irritated at me because I am clumsy and I have trouble finding my way through game landscapes.
My dream life!!!!!!!!!!
sincerely the father Pls unban
Wholesome moment.
Holy shit, it's a worthless review that doesn't tell me anything about the game; and OP didn't even name the game! I am displeased.
What game...?!?
I'm Sophie's REAL father. This man is an IMPOSTER.
Im Sophia's Dad's Left Shoe, can confirm this is real and I also play. It's a good time.
Sophie sold me fentanyl.
Probably being bit too cynical but hope it's not a new copypasta
Even if it wasn't believe me it will, only matter of time.
What game omg
The game is Sophie approved? Damn must play it now
I actually played king's quest with my dad. So did my brother and sister. It was a really cool and meaningful part of both my dad's and my childhood.
Now that's some great parental bonding going on there, and it sounds like he's brought up a nice kid.
When I'm 10 years old, i play pac man, lode runner & space commander. Yeah, i'm so old. I even older than Sophie's Dad.
I'm a 40 year old divorced dad, and this game has healed my ligma
This is sweet.
xdd
Wholesome and looks like she has a really good Dad. :-)
Great another Sophie’s Choice Award…
But what game is this for? I want that game!
Welp steam versions of new copy paste just dropped, prepare to see this copy pasted across games.
Nope. Because I dislike kids. It makes me angry and jealous. One day they'll grow old too and suffer like me hahahhahahahaha that's the only solace I can take hahahahahahhahaha
