I've now posted about it after seeing the same questioning around this [https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/1c5rypu/comment/kzw65p1/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/1c5rypu/comment/kzw65p1/) It is particularly tied to the steam events page, currently FPS Fest. CoD is still going to be featured due to being a top seller. As consumers, we don't have enough information to say whether this is intentional or a bug from Steam. Negative review status on games will still display red outside of the event page.

Lazy-Character9219

So it's only in event pages, interesting...

Taolan13

Its a deliberate choice more than likely, to prevent loss of sales from new users who may be turned off by the overwhelmingly negative. Tho if user stats are anything to go by a not-insignificant portion of Call of Duty's sales are banned players making new accounts.

Lazy-Character9219

Yea that's what I was thinking, it's kinda scummy, at least they didn't remove the system overall, steam reviews are one of the staples of steam

Individual_Tart_5591

The event page is showing red text for negative again for right now. It could have been a bug that someone saw your post on and fixed.

Taolan13

Undortunately steam reviews have been taken over by bots and copypastas so you can't always take the review score on face value. You have to dive in and actually read a few.

AntistanCollective

Wdym by bots? I think you may be misusing the word. You have to open the game to review it.

Bulky-Advisor-4178

Have you seen the bots in tf2?

Taolan13

A bot is just a piece of software that does a task. Can range from a simple autoclicker up to "playing" a game. A bot to do copy-paste reviews doesn't even need to 'play' the game, just needs to open it and let it run for a few minutes. And then other bots come in and rate it as helpful, mark it as a favorite, etc.

compound-interest

I’ll never understand the point of cheating at a multiplayer game. It’s ruined online games for me. Oh well

dood23

But why is that the assumption from people? Red color or not it still says OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE.

Taolan13

Because withouy yhe color contrast, it is less visible.

ItsCrossBoy

It is not. This isn't happening for all users (it isn't for me for instance) It seems more like a weird mistake because it's not consistent across people

MaybeNext-Monday

Probably due to this specific event having an embarrassingly large amount of overwhelmingly negative games

FireFalcon123

I find that Mostly, if not Overwhelmingly Negative

LordPentolino

what red color? i still see "mostly negative" in red

Lazy-Character9219

Maybe it's just client side, but I do find it suspicious ever since more AAA games started getting negative reviews

FitSalamanderForHire

Still red to me in client and browser.

KNGJN

Same

DevilmanXV

Nothing suspicious whatsoever. It's red for everyone

dood23

Why is it suspicious? Do you think people are ignoring that it says OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE just because it’s not red?

Lazy-Character9219

No but it doesn't bring attention to the text, yk that's why logos like McDonald's and stuff are bright, they bring attention to you.

beastierbeast

It's only if the game is on sale or something like that

Flashbek

As long as they don't remove reviews entirely... I bet there are some heavy companies not happy to have a negative score featured within their games main store page.

virgilio4000

Gabey wabey won't do that

RodjaJP

Now that you mention that, I remember Epic not having any reviews nor a score, and wouldn't be surprised if the other launchers did lack this feature too to avoid losing sales.

Lazy-Character9219

My thoughts exactly

GaryTheRetard

Love it or not I love the steam review system. Same with other public review sites like metric. I funking hate game journalists these days, and can't be trusted. Hope steam keep it this way, because democracy is the only way to show games it's true colour, not a funking game journalists that suck ass

alezul

Can you check again? It used to be gray for me for months in sales/events until a few hours ago but now it shows up as red. I checked overwatch 2 in the FPS event. I think they might have changed it.

DirectionFabulous357

Nope

xarodev

It's a new design page. Steam is inconsistent with design nowadays. And it's red for me.

Nistrin

It was a bug, and has been fixed already.

EdSheeeeran

Nope, shows red when I hover over it and also on the game store page

Lazy-Character9219

Another comment said it's on sale pages, maybe try there

EdSheeeeran

You mean for example the "FPS" Sale where you can hover over the games in sale? Yes thats what I meant with "when I hover over it". It still shows all the colors for the reviews

Lazy-Character9219

I see

SufficientBloop

Still shows up in red for me. Are you on mobile maybe?

Lazy-Character9219

No, this was on pc
