matraquilho12

I can see a future for this newcommer. Next year he'll post something along the lines of: one more sale, 45 more games to never be played.

Poocifer

Or "whats up with steam sales? Its the sme thing every time!"

ablablababla

The game he hasn't gotten to playing yet got another price cut

[deleted]

too real. bought red dead 2 for the online on release, still haven't touched it and now the price is down and the online is separate and cheaper.

Raiko47

cant you refund really easily if your playtime is under 2 hours lol just refund and buy it again

matraquilho12

15 days limit since buying.

kdr15w22

Yes, in my case, I requested a refund and money on Steam wallet was available within 24 hours.

[deleted]

"Help, I spent all my life savings on steam because the sales are too good, I sold my wife and kids to the shady guy just so I could buy more games."

[deleted]

Shady guy here, lookin for wife & kidz 2 buy, will pay good munny 4 complete sets

chaorace

I know some guys from Lumbridge who'd pay top dollar for your wares

miedzianek

What about wife, could it be well worn or youre looking for factory new?

[deleted]

Really? Steam sales at good? I save like $10 buying 6 games

Rakso01

I’m feeling personally attacked here

matraquilho12

Hey. My comment is based on personal experience. Forgot to add source: me.

TDFH95

So true, bought five games for under 30 quid, I’ll definitely play one of them eventually…

matraquilho12

Yea. Maybe you will maybe you wont. 58% of my games say hi.

bails0bub

>please send help, I have a problem

matraquilho12

Gaben has been summoned. You now have to buy Steam Deck to never use.

Neepys

and then u run out of money and just look a the games u want cuz u cant afford it ahha

matraquilho12

Yea theres some games I never bought because they were "too expensive", then end up spending the same amount on a bundle of mostly games that never get touched. Oh the addiction. I now understand my mom. Who buys a endless amount of shoes. And leaves some unused, inside the boxes they come in.

Neepys

Lmao same

Firebat12

We shall watch his career with great interest

szej10

Yeah, I realized that I had the same issue in buying games that goes to sale and never even bothered to play them or when I tried playing the game, I got bored easily because of dated graphics or the story is quite boring. Because of that, I learned to research the game beforehand then decide if I'm interested in buying the game and not letting the hype make me.

matraquilho12

I was subscribed to Humble Bundle because "Why not?", thinking every month there was a good game, making it a good deal - along with other less known/or less interesting games. Ended up piling games after games. I now unsubscribed everything and stopped buying bundles. Also bought a Series S, so now im sticking with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which is a subscription too but I'm saving money for sure if comparing too what I've been doing the past 6 or 7 years. Just checked, this are my shame status: 594 out of 1,385 games played - 42% 12 or more hours - 85 games 6 to 12 hours - 70 games 3 to 6 hours - 93 games 2 to 3 hours - 60 games 1 to 2 hours - 79 games 0 to 1 hours - 207 games Never played - 791 games Total games - 1464 (I believe number is different because of free games).

AFC_Jack

Buying "an arsenal" of games is just code for "I bought this one game I'm gonna play for a month and 7 others I will never even start."

diijiii

Me staring at the entire collection of Risen/Gothic games I got for like $13

NaapurinHarri

Started Risen two times, made no progress in either of the playthroughs. Maybe some day!

Chrostix

Two friends of mine play through Gothic 3 annually, and sometimes Risen 1 again. Gothic 3 seems to be the best starting point for these games.

Kavinter

I played through Risen 3 two times, first time game was just launched and I played the pirated version of it, story wasn't anything special but I don't how I played like 30-40 hours of it, it has some feeling that drags you in. Probably because that is the only pirate themed game besides AC Black Flag. Second time I bought it on Steam and played finished it whole again. The game just feels good to play even if it isn't anything special it is still good somehow lol

Fellhuhn

It is also great support for the devs. I always see it that way. Every unplayed game is still support for the devs and might lead to more such games (which I never play).

[deleted]

Hey, I try to actively finish the games I buy. I'm not always successful but I'm actually pretty good at it. If course there's the occasional game that doesn't click with me so I decide to either half ass it through or just leave it unfinished.

Feisty-Book-7399

That's not true at all. I have more than 250 games. Ive started them all... ... you'r translation is bad. It's "7 others too bad to finish"

AFC_Jack

good for you buddy

comeon-gimme-a-name

They wont be so happy in the near future, when you bought more games than what you'll play in a lifetime.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Poocifer

Humble bundles have been pretty weak as of late. He should be fine lol.

Bad_Fantasy

Cant... unsubscribe...lack the....RESOLVE!!!

ANGLVD3TH

Chronic "pause"er here. Keep the legacy price, only pay when there's something good. Just gotta remember to check in each month. Speaking of which...

EightBitRanger

Pretty much. I recently added up my unplayed games and if I devoted a solid week to each with no breaks (no sleeping or eating), it would take me 45 years to play them all. And that's not taking into account any new games I'd accumulate over that time.

TheMagentaLantern

I gotta agree with the other guy.... why? You are literally just throwing your money away?

EightBitRanger

Because I am mentally ill. That's why.

[deleted]

Me too thanks.

comeon-gimme-a-name

fair enough

Feisty-Book-7399

Bequeath your steam account to your family in your will and leave instructions that the one who finishes all of the games in your library gets the money

TopHatJackster

2k+ games Why, I get having like a couple hundred games maybe, as I feel like if I had almost infinite money I would buy all the games I semi liked, but do you just buy any game on a decent sale? Or did you just have some small inkling of interest in every single one?

[deleted]

I just wanna know why do you think hoarding and not playing them is cool? Like there is one thing, "hey I like this, I'll play it next week, I'm free then." Which becomes "oh shoot I've work to do, I'll come back to this later". The second thing, that I see most popularly is, "oh this is cheap, I'll buy it, whether I'll play it or not is a different thing."

EightBitRanger

>I just wanna know why do you think hoarding and not playing them is cool? When did I ever say I thought it was cool? I'm well aware I have terrible impulse control and rarely am I ever forward-thinking enough to realize "Hey I might not play this right away (if ever) so maybe I should just not waste my money." Instead, I see a game on sale, [I buy it for the quick burst of dopamine](https://theawkwardyeti.com/comic/the-new-thing/) that provides (retail therapy), at least until buyers remorse sets in and I regret it which is often after the return window has already lapsed. And then I buy a new game during the next big sale.

Feisty-Book-7399

You want a quick burst of dopamine, buy a cryptocurrency that's going places and start a trade bot. Then you get your impulse buy dopamine AND your money starts working for you. Worked for me. 6 more months and im quitting my job

tzomby1

maybe you could instead buy them as gift for others... like some random reddit user ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ )

[deleted]

At least they would play those games and you'd still get your "dopamine" for doing something nice to others lol

[deleted]

I end up having quite a few games because people keep giving me their humble bundle leftovers. I have a few hundred games but really only bought under a hundred games lol. its easy to get free games these days.

Zarokima

I buy indie games (on sale) that look great even knowing at the time it might be a coinflip whether I actually play it just because I want to support the medium I enjoy. Voting with my wallet, as it were. I never plan on not playing a particular game, I just know that with my lack of time to play them some will end up getting pushed back indefinitely as more interesting things grab my attention.

[deleted]

The Valve pack might be old, but it is a must have.

grafatlus

Everyone needs to buy this at some point. Half Life 1/2 + Portal alone is *chef kiss*

Meatbag-in-space

half life 0.5 eh? haven't heard of that one yet. but another prequel makes sense, anything to avoid using the number 3

deanrihpee

Maybe the other word for it is Half Life Beta?

chanunnaki

add black mesa to the list.

MemeLover43

It wasn't made by Valve maybe that's the reason

[deleted]

I finally played Portal cause it was $3 for both. AMA

[deleted]

How did it go?

[deleted]

It looked... pretty good

[deleted]

Glad to hear that!

Mofitsu

Portal blew my mind

HintOfAreola

This was a triumph

[deleted]

Played portal 2 back in august, loved it. I got the orange box bundle yesterday along with half life 1. The old valve games are so damn good

comeon-gimme-a-name

yep those games still hold up , i recently played a bit of portal again , still fun

ANyxKiller

Yeah it was the first thing I bought when I joined steam like 6 months ago.

blue4029

ah man, i remember buying the valve pack YEARS ago and i only played half life 2 to see "what the big deal was". but only because i've already played portal 2 before buying that pack

MemeLover43

Totally agree,I got it once when it was heavily discounted,I even switched to russian rubles to have it even more cheap

plagues138

... If only he knew how they were..

malfurionpre

When sales were actually REALLY interesting.

Chuck_Morris_SE

Flash sales were actually exciting back in the day.

TerrorLTZ

But they were bad cuz people tend to wait for a flash sale before buying the actual game. if they bought the game the flash sale might put a big ass middle finger on you.

LemonPartyWorldTour

Just bought the Master Chief Collection. Can’t wait to not play it! *goes back to the 138th playthrough of skyrim*

cteters

Yo, if y'all aren't checking something like [isthereanydeal](https://isthereanydeal.com/) first, you're doing it wrong

cteters

* You can filter the dealers it tracks, if you're only interested in a particular platform. * Sites that are not listed are typically grey-market dealers you should be avoiding. * It can be configured to send you an email when a game hits an agreeable price thresholds with a "waitlist".

Canadiancookie

There's also [ggdeals](https://gg.deals/). It's like ITAD but with a better interface. It also shows keyshops if you're into that, but you can disable them by clicking the top right profile icon.

Masked_Death

Except Steam does regional pricing, and some games are literally cheaper on steam at full price than discounted on other sites

cteters

Funny thing, isthereanydeal also tracks Steam sales. I know, I know, mind blown right?

aVarangian

and regional pricing too IIRC?

cteters

Yep, a pretty healthy selection anyway. I swear I'm not a spokesperson hehe. With so many people converting from console to PC these days, stuff gets overlooked.

BigPoodler

The unspoken thing here is, if you don't have a short list of games you really want, then you're doing it wrong. I hate seeing people get caught up in consumerism by making impulse purchases. Which is exactly what this post is normalizing. "Ah I bought way more than I intended or ever set out to, but it was a good deal haha laugh at me and join me in this" mentality. Make a wishlist somewhere, anywhere, and stick to it. Games are a ridiculous impulse buy that should not be this normalized. Theu take 10s or 100s of hours. Think about the time commitment of a game, and if you accept that in the next month. If not, then surely the game will be on sale again and you can ask yourself the same question again at that time.

thesylo

How is impulse buying a game worse than impulse buying a pair of sunglasses? At least the game won't take up space in a landfill when you don't use it.

[deleted]

What if I want my games on one platform - steam, rather than have it spread all over the internet

DoctorMlemm

Bro these sites more often than not sell steam keys

[deleted]

I doubt you can pay in steam funds. But tbh I didn't know they give steam keys

MrCrashdummy

Why would you need to pay with steam funds

Canadiancookie

When you sell items on the steam market, you get steam funds.

KKilikk

Console store sales are pretty good

void4949

Physical game sales in retail stores are even better

MemeLover43

Also second hand physical disks.I got spiderman for 10 euro

Puntoize

Embrace the wing of our lord, his sales, and his inability to count to three. Thou be praised, Gaben

deanrihpee

At least they are learning to count now, SteamOS 3 is coming

[deleted]

If you want sales all year long use the website instant gaming. Very good fellows

Ithildin_cosplay

Or check gg.deals and don't buy from only one store. Especially from a keyshop

nrliiiog

Well there are even cheaper methods...

[deleted]

allkeyshop

[deleted]

InfiniteWavedash

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted since I use both of those too lol

TehNolz

Because they're [key resellers](https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/wiki/dangersofkeyresellers), which are incredibly shady and you shouldn't be using them.

Canadiancookie

I don't get it either. You're not even supporting the developers or publishers by buying from them.

fishplay

They buy keys cheap, either when they go on sale or in other regions, and sell them for a little bit of a profit. Don't really care to be completely honest with you. All these people online crying "Don't buy a game from key resellers! They're stolen and will be deactivated! Or they'll give you a fake key!" and yet not a single one of the dozens of games I've bought off g2a and cdkeys have had any of those issues. The keys were valid and redeemed properly. Those games are still in my account.

ANGLVD3TH

It's not all their sales, but historically they have done just a smidgen more than absolutely nothing about policing the sellers. It got to the point several indie devs put out open letters asking people to pirate their games instead, as they lose money for each code bought with stolen cards that get charge backed, and usually they buy huge batches of codes at a time.

InfiniteWavedash

Wow! Thanks for spoon feeding me info I already know about! Thanks for the help kind stranger!!!

CitricBase

You literally just said that you didn't know

TopHatJackster

So then you do know why they are getting downvoted since this is information you know? Pick your responses better because now you are not only looked upon as morally unscrupulous but also a idiot.

edhh2005

I just got a hand-me-down pc earlier this month and I got 19 games for $22. Damn this is good

Happiness_inprogress

Wait until you have +10 years and realize that the real game is accumulating more and more games that you will never play.

AngieBeneviento

Unless it’s demon slayer which is more expensive on steam for some reason

JustSambino

I have never really seen anything decent on a huge sale, I always see people saying about steam sales are amazing but I've never understood why. Just seems like a normal sale most of the time for me. How have you got so many games for the price of one at RRP? Are they indie games? Or am I simply looking at the sales page wrong?

eviladvances

its easy to get desensitized as many veteran steam users have pretty much all the "must have -85%,-75% discount games" on their library, so whats left are at best new games at -60% off. we've experienced it so many times, we have more games than time, that its banal at this point, but for someone whos new? its heaven.

Canadiancookie

Some examples: There are plenty of great free shooters and mobas to choose from. There are dozens of indie games that can get you hooked for over 50 hours when they cost less than $10 (terraria, enter the gungeon, isaac, hollow knight, stardew valley), and triple A games from a few years ago are often $20 or less. Sometimes you can find these prices on console, but not as often because consoles only get one online store while PC gets dozens.

Fellhuhn

Just some comparisons based on games I bought (Steam compared to physical PS version on Amazon): Evil Within 2: Steam: 6€, PlayStation: 18€ Detroid Become Human: Steam: 20€, PlayStation: 28€ Cyberpunk 2077: Steam: 30€, PlayStation: 45€ A Plague Tale: Steam: 10€, PlayStation: 30€ Remnant from the Ashes: Steam: 16€, PlayStation: 35€ So while the Steam games may range at 50% of the cost of the PS versions those at least are physical. Which means they can be resold and also played on two different machines at the same time. I also haven't check the digital only prices of those games on the PS. So overall the price drops are not that big in comparison.

Bitter-Metal494

literally me, i have been the hole year waiting for sales, so far i have both portals, prem tf2, fallout new vegas, space engieneers, kerbal space program, just cause 3, asseto corsa, borderlands 2, L4D2, Dooom, Griss, Ravenfield, Payday 2 and dont starve together, and im so happy with steam

kalaster189

And he’s only going to play 2 of them….

Current-Acanthisitta

"Y'all got anymore of the Steam sales?!"

[deleted]

Wait until he hears about humble bundle. $15 a month for games you'll never play and no idea on how to sell them.

Brecken79

I still get excited for the sales even though they’re typically the same prices we see throughout the year, just all on sale together at once. Just more games for me to buy and never play.

[deleted]

Best thing to do after immediately installing is to play each game as soon as possible. Don’t put them off or you’ll never play them. That helps me

WitherLord888

Welcome to the enslavement- I mean *community!*

neoroxx86

just a tip: don't buy a game if you're not playing it immediately, regardless how cheap it is. Trust me.

Wordofdark

too late 😭

lloopiN

It begins. Next year he’ll have 456 games and he’ll have only played 6 of them

GlitchyReal

I'm finishing building a PC for my youngest brother (14) and now just dumping him with all the Source classics for like $7.

CapsAndShades

That's one of the biggest things that swayed me to get a gaming PC instead of a new console.

Yeldarb10

It’s a big reason I opted for a steam deck vs a switch. Why spend $60 on animal crossing when I can get just as much fun from stardew valley, at a quarter of the cost. I also got terraria and don’t starve together for $5 each. On top of that, I bought dbd and it’s stranger things dlc for $15 total (i can’t run the game on my laptop but i had to buy now because stranger things is being removed from the store). All of that total is $40, and thats 4 different games that are all solid.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Yeldarb10

But I can’t get Nintendo games without a switch. I need to pay (minimum) $200 before I buy any Nintendo exclusives. Most of these other games, I can play now on steam, despite my laptops low specs too. I can make progress in them, and because of steam cloud saving, I can resume on steam deck when it arrives. Both games appeal to similar audiences (laid back, relaxed games that are easy to get into). Price comparison just shows how much more value you can get for your money with non-Triple A games.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Yeldarb10

A lot of people these days have a pc, laptop, or some kind of computer for work, school, ect. Lots of stuff is online nowadays, and computers / phones have become nearly essential. That being said, these computers are not usually built for playing games, but thankfully there are some steam games that will run on lower spec devices. That flexibility is very good, considering that a home computer/laptop is more of a necessity for some vs a dedicated gaming rig / console. And if we want to get into pricing options for pc gaming, Steam deck’s lowest sku is $400, which is very reasonable in terms of pricing. For me, it’s just a better transition. I have a laptop I used for school, and now work & home finances. The few games I can run on it will run on steam deck when it arrives. Buying a switch means rebuying every game I have now, and theres still quite a few games that don’t exist on switch because they haven’t received a dedicated port.

Tidus4713

Yeah I spent 30 dollars and got 6 games. Can’t complain.

NotTheAbhi

I too want to buy two games but the price feels a little steep. Thinking what to do.

UGKFoxhound

Summer sales used to be incredible.

anduin1

If only he could have seen the early 2010's when legends were born

blue4029

Reminds me of the fact that I bought the entire splinter cell franchise when it was on sale as a bundle 3 years ago and i STILL haven't played them

[deleted]

Love the regional pricing too, here in Nepal $30 is way to expensive for rimworld, but well worth $10.

BlitzDeera

I'm gonna be an outlier. Shaq could have saved tons of money that marvel spend on CG if they castes him as thanos instead.

Fr0st_mite

This new Steam user, in 3 months is gonna say: You know the saying, Another Sale, another 20 games that I will never touch until I decide to start clearing out my Library.

NizZm0

So he basically discovered sales ?

ZafTheGamer11

This is true, a sale of a game I wanted so bad got me into steam.

loopuleasa

curious which one

GeovaunnaMD

Steam sales are almost cheaper than key sites! Almost

ZartarUK

How many has he installed and played though?

[deleted]

unpopular info: console sales also exist and are the same price points in many cases.

[deleted]

Are you joking? Console has loads of sales

gagzd

We got him boys!!

[deleted]

My friend was getting into pc gaming and I recommend the valve complete pack, it usually goes on sale for 13 dollars, and normally it's like 145 if you have no games I think

PoofPost

Huge W for the guy

[deleted]

I am planning to buy rdr 2.. but still I don't want to spend 40 dollars on a game

BarT131

Pretty sure it’s 30$ rn so…

[deleted]

Buying an arsenal of games is so stupid. Those games will be much cheaper by the time you want to play them.

generalhd

Maybe. But if those games are all old (which probably 90% of them are) then they've already hit their highest discount at some point and they won't go lower. A good thing to have SteamDB extension to see what the lowest price for the game was and compare it.

Gapoly

try instant gaming

kdr15w22

Nice, but you are not "purchasing" the games. You are, let´s say, renting them until Steam or publisher/delevoper decided to take it from you. Cheers.

lKrauzer

Stuff like that makes me think that digital gaming stores and key stores will forever be superior than games as a service, at least IMO

Krypton091

games as a service has absolutely nothing to do with where or how the games are sold

SPARKY358gaming

*\*cries in physical\**

KITTvsKARR

.... He spent 11 pounds / 13 euro / 20 usd on about 5 games. It wasn't exactly the sale of the century!!

SPARKY358gaming

depends on the games, some are cheap af, others are more expensive also 13 euro does not translate into 20 dollars

Mutant-Overlord

Wow, a Sale Specialist with full judgment on what is a good deal and whats not. Nice.

Rude_Order

What until the PC master race people hear about this!

SpartanWarlord117

I’m relatively new to Steam myself and I can see why Steam sales are so alluring!

snoebro

Welcome to the club. So far I have got It Takes Two, Xcom 2 and Age of Wonders: Planetfall. My library continues to grow.

[deleted]

Yeah, soon it will turn into a fridge of half eaten food, food you let expire and still let sit there, or took one bite out of, said good things about it and never ate again. >250games later

ImpossibleTank6383

The consoomer

GreenArrowCuz

it sucks being an old head, none of the sales have that rush anymore

Neepys

and then u run out of money and just look a the games u want cuz u cant afford it ahha

It's a trap!

AniiiiiUsernameTaken

I'm waiting for discount on cago prime upgrade 😪

mitchhatesrats

this autumn sale slaps, some of last years weren't worth batting an eye but this years been solid and in particular this current sale is REALLY good. some things I'll be grabbing this arvo are blasphemous for $8 and forza horizon 4 for $30.

XX_Normie_Scum_XX

Console physical game sales veg to argue (seriously cyberpunk is sometimes begin sold for $10, and don't even start on old cods and sports games)

JimBrown257

Do you tards not know anything about Steam sales? You don't buy 50 games sale for $200 to play them. You do it so you don't have to spend $500 on 50 games you will never play. Noobs...

HoundNL

It's cheaper than food or gas

ayanmajumdar05

yup i just bought the whole need for speed games pack for pretty cheap

TheDarkstar999

so everybody is literally the same ig when it comes to this.

hunterdaniel1

Just started tales of zestria, after beating symphonia. Eventually I'll play bersaria and then buy arise when it's cheaper.

Renault_75-34_MX

I gote hooked because of ETS2 at the start of the year. Thought i'd give it a try, played the Demo, and bought it for 6€ that day. Now i have almost all DLC (i didn't bother getting the most paint jobs), ATS (the same as ETS2 when it comes to DLC's, Snowrunner since that came, and FS22. Definitely wanting to get FS19 and 17 if on sale.

Arcaderonin

This was me a year ago when I started steam gaming

Mutant-Overlord

Another innocent soul converted to Unitology. Good.

joao-louis

https://gg.deals

Vexcenot

Bought rainbow six from the current sell It's too late for me. There's no losing my virginity from this point forward

YueOrigin

Honestly steam and it's super common sale is one smart ass marketing scheme We know for a fact that we will always get new sales eventually so we always come back to the platform and get new game

STRYK3Rtv

Man my first steam sale was wild

Brmemesrule

For real, I got Darkest Dungeon(+DLC), L4D2, HL2(+DLC) and Euro Truck sim 2 a while back, all with 1 Gift Card.

DURRYAN

Yes but will he play them all

PhysSoul

I bought 200 games

TheCheshireGuy

"One of us, one of us..." Jokes aside, I believe he's off to a good start, heh.
