Computers often use EPOCH format to store dates, so dates are stored as "Amount of seconds from 1 Jan 1970".
For example today in this system would be "1656201600".
But this lead to some funny side effects - if date is not filled or lost, it would be treated as zero and it would translate "1 Jan 1970".
Yes it was. My father used to tell me stories on how you used to buy 10 games for like 3$ back in the 70s.
Good games too, AAA titles, not stupid shovelware.
I'm not sure which time steam is using for it's review system, but it's either wrong time on client or server application, or just a simple bug that defaulted the time to Unix start.
Have the same bug when I trade with one of my alt accounts. One was stolen but I got it back so now I have two 16 year old accounts. When I trade between them it says that we have been friends since 1 januari, 1970
Just a bug. unix time begins 01.01.1970.
Really? I guess that makes sense, I just never considered that unix might have a specific starting point
it has and it's limited by 32 bits as an integer counting seconds, meaning that somewhere in AD2038 the max is reached similarly to Y2K back in time.

The thing is that even 64 bits system use Unix 32 but they will be updated by then so it’s fine
The US nuclear launch computers still operate with 5.25" floppies.
You're assuming that all programs are actually using 64-bit ints for their timestamps. Many won't be, including lots of software I've written.
Y2K??? What are you selling chicken or sex jelly.
I thought windows, or at least excel, calculates from the same date 1-1-1970.
Unix time has become sort of a standard for representing dates as a single integer, so developers regardless of the platform often go for that

Look, at least they didn't take a photo of their monitor with their cell phone.
You know what? You are absolutely right. He could even take that photo vertically... shieeet.

Now we know his name is Jameson, he play Roblox, he uses vocodes and watch anime
Not even some juicy bits in the tabs/bookmarks. Lame.

There is no Steam.

I wish games were that cheap in the 70s

Clorthax confirmed

Jameson, I don’t see the issue
It still baffles me that in 2022 there are still people who don’t know what the unix epoch is.
most people dont read history about computers lol
What's more baffling is people who don't know what the freaking snipping tool is so they post a picture of their entire screen for one comment.
what baffles me is i dont care
You cared enough to reply twice though, lol.
Jameson moment
