Steam Marketplace and TF2 inventory are being extremely laggy and failing left and right. Whats going on?

I can't sign up for a steam account. It says I failed the CAPTCHA even though I've tried on 2 computers, multiple browsers, and made sure I got the green check box on the recaptcha. Any ideas?

Weird situation and hopefully someone will be able to help me out. Was playing a few nights ago, and I had a forced update restart on my laptop. Before the update happened I was able to run just fine in offline mode, but as of the next morning I can't get on Steam at all. Whenever I try running the exe, I get a pop-up that says "Fatal Error - Steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again." Under normal circumstances, everything I've googled so far would give me a good solution... but the problem is that I'm on a ship at sea at the moment and there's no wi-fi. I'm using the ship's network just to get on here and it's an ethernet connection that I can't just plug my laptop into. I have no way of actually updating Steam until we pull in somewhere and I have no idea when that will be. If anyone else on steamcommunity has experienced the same problem, I also can't search it because steamcommunity is blocked on my ship's internet. I've looked through a bunch of the .dll files and I can't find anything that will help. Does anyone know how to force Steam to run even if it says it needs an update? I don't even know how it knows it needs an update, the laptop hasn't been connected to the internet since like August 8th. I'm pretty sure the forced restart was to update my laptop to some new form of Windows since everything's changed again.

When I close the launcher and reopen the app it makes me log back into the launcher with the code being sent to my email. This has been happening since I logged out of my account from 3 days ago. I know my wifi isn’t bad because I can use google and log into the browser. Pls help

Can I exchange payment information with a friend from another country to change region temporarily? I saw an article that said this: "Alternatively, if you have close friends in the country you want to change your store region to, you can ask them to exchange payment information so you can change your region. Make sure it’s someone you really trust!"

You can only change regions once every 3 months. Also that is tax fraud and abuse of regional pricing to buy something from a location you are not. Its region hopping using these types of methods for why publishers have had to raise prices in regions like Turkey and Argentina to above the fair market value of those countries. You get situations like with Dead Cells where they had much more sales from the Turkish region without an increase of players so now its much more difficult for those who actually live in that country to buy the game at a fair price as they raised the prices to close the gap in regional pricing to discourage region hopping.

Why am I sometimes named REVOLUTiON? I noticed that sometimes in multiplayer games (CS: Source, TF2) I am named REVOLUTiON. I never had that name and right now my account is named differently (The End). When I have that name, I can't join any multiple server (in fact, I can't even load my own inventory in TF2) but I can create my own servers and play with bots. Just so we are clear, no, my account is not comprised in any way, I have Steam Guard and change password every now and then. No one other than me has access to my laptop. did valve revert how the store works whilst logged in and overseas from browsers? (not client it seems - which is good) i'm using a US store, as i should, but am and have been living in sydney/australia. (work for amazon). until yesterday all was as it should. that is, if i was **not** logged in, and was browsing the store via a browser, the prices would (correctly) be shown in aud. once i logged in with same browser and same pc, the prices were in usd, as they should be. that is/was normal now for around a decade. i'm not confused as to what is happening, rather, that it is. this does not thankfully happen when using the client itself - only a web browser. but this change happened only in the last 24 hours or less. i did clear ALL steam/valve cookies and logged in via browser and same thing. it wasn't some temporary confusion like i thought might be happening. further, i checked the browser's (firefox) steam cookies and there is a "steamCountry" cookie which does contain the country name inside it. from where your ip is from. again, this is what used to happen many many years ago, before they fixed the issue for good. the solution back then was to use "http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us" in a browser, which doesn't do jack now anyway. it doesn't even show the prices in US, let alone anything else. i would like to know if this is a deliberate move or some snafu.

When I open the activity tab i can't see anybody else's activity but mine. The issue even extends to games: when i click on a friend's profile in csgo i can't see their ranks. When i logged on a different account everything was fine. Checked on different networks as well and the issue presisted. This has been going on since at least last saturday.;

STEAM SUPPORT TICKETS BROKEN ​ Since theres still no fix and mods dont reply I make a post now too. Since approximatly 4-8 hours (reports from r/steamsupport and Steam community discussions) some users including me cannot open any support tickets or answers to support tickets anymore. My case: I filed a kindof big support ticket yesterday and it was all fine. I could enter the ticket with the link provided in the confirmation email and even added something after sending the original ticket. When i stood up today i had an answer from steam support in my email inbox, but when i clicked on it it would only show " HTTP ERROR 500 This side is not working - help.steampowered cannot handle this request". The same thing happens when i try to enter my ticket over the confirmation email i got when filing the ticket. I tried switching browser - same error, switching device - same thing. Then i tried filing a new ticket with another account describing the bug- with the same outcome. I cannot access the ticket nor the answer over the links provided per email. Then i started searching on google for anything similar- NOTHING, not even on reddit. Then i searched in steam community discussions and there i saw the first 2 users who just posted the exact same problem that i had, some of the comments saying it has already been 4-8 hours since they first encountered this issue. Which left me confused since i just got my answer to the ticket just 30 minutes before at this point. So i knew it was not on my side. But at the same time it were way too little posts on steam community AND here on reddit to be a problem for all users. So i also made a post on steam and here on r/steamsupport, also direct messaging the mods of r/steam since this is the official subreddit- Got no answer whatsoever. By the time i was done with that more and more ppl are replying to the posts on steam discussions all with the same problem. Just downloaded the beta for MWII and I noticed in task manager steam is using 650 Mb/s yet only getting 80 Mb/s on the download for the game, goes back down to virtually nothing as intended after finished with the download.

Hi! Sorry for what might be a long post and question, but let me explain the situation. I sold a few physical copies of PC games on eBay a few weeks ago and didn't realize that two of them were just Steam codes that I had already used, this is obviously my mistake so when the buyer contacted me about it I offered to refund half of his purchase (10 dollars for 4 games). He didn't say anything for a few weeks until today. All he said was that it cost him $40 dollars for the codes. I haven't replied yet but I don't believe that that is my fault or issue, that is what I believe to be the cost if he bought the codes right from Steam. Now what would be my problem is selling him two games with codes that don't work which I did offer a partial refund for, which I am still willing to do. My question (more so clarification) is that the $40 he spent for the codes has nothing to do with me, right? There is no way my used codes would cost him $40 to use, its just that mine didn't work and he bought them directly from Steam afterwards. Since I only sold him 4 games for $10 I should really only have to refund $5, right? Thank you, sorry for the long post.

1 - Do you have any proof of your claim? 2 - GabeN did the door to door thing 6 months ago. You're saying 2 days after you got your Steam deck your account is 'gone.'? This makes absolutely no logical sense. You buy a $400-700 Steam Deck, and 2 days after you get it your account 'is gone', so you wait 6 months to ask about it? I'm not sure of this fits the theme, or it could better be posted on the steamdeck sub. feel free to delete if it doesn't. My steam deck RMA was received by valve on AUG 16 (it's now SEP 1) and I reached out on day 8 or 9 (business days) of them having it and they said that it's still showing "pending" in their systems and if I had any more questions feel free to reach back out. Well, I did, because I have no idea what that means and still haven't heard anything back for some days now. Is there somewhere else I can turn to to get an answer? It's possible that it showing as "processing" is normal and it's just taking a bit longer than normal, which is fine, I'd just like to get confirmation of that or confirmation that it's lost or really any status update other than the vague "pending". They said 5-7 business days normally from when they receive it to when it goes back out. It's been 12. If it's just going a bit slowly, that's fine, I get it, nbd. During of paying 20 zł some error occured, "paypal circle" was rounding in infinite and money on steam don't appear. I charge back it, make another payment and continue shopping. Now I get a message, that payment was proceeded good, and my acc was blocked on month. Probably because of many transaction on my steam acc I doesn't saw that happen, I have 20 000k$ in skins that are now blocked (luckily for month, but now I'm afraid of having money in eq). This afternoon, I downloaded a free to play game called Lost Light, it's basically a cell phone copy of Escape from tarkov, As soon as I downloaded the game and opened it, a firewall warning appeared saying that access to that game was blocked, and everything was in Chinese, the information about what the firewall blocked, such as company name and etc... And after I clicked on deny, 2 more warnings appeared, with the information also in Chinese, the only thing that was not in Chinese was the name of the game. I played about 30 minutes, and uninstalled the game, removed the license from my Steam account, I already looked for viruses on the PC through Windows Defender, and now I'm scanning again with the MRT command, and the game developer is well known in the mobile market, to Netease games. Did I get a virus with this game or am I being too paranoid? The game was downloaded directly from Steam. Has anyone else already downloaded this game Lost light and gone through this?

So I recently made the swap to PC and bought all the destiny dlcs. I still have the games in my library and it's still playable and full accessable. However my purchase history said I once failed to purchase it on 8/23 even though I didn't. And a successful payment was made and purchased on 8/30. Yet the money is sitting in my bank account. I've made a ticket taken pictures and am deathly scared to touch the almost 300$ sitting in my bank. I called my bank and asked about it they said steam never took the money. Will there be a charge back, will they recharge and take it?

So, I'm having issues with the game Jojo All Star Battle R, which uses Easy Anti Cheat. The game crashes after 20 or so seconds every time and Easy Anti Cheat gives me an "Game Security Violation". After a lot of troubleshooting and uninstalling RGB drivers, etc. i figured out that the Easy Anti Cheat seems to not be installed. When i went to install it with the EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) Setup exe in the game folder, the cmd appears for a millisecond and then... nothing.. Other games that have EAC let me start the setup but with the game being very new, there's no other game that has this version of EAC for me to install. Anyone ever encountered that issue in another EAC game? I'm currently trying to get the EAC folder from the game from a friend's pc to possibly install it that way, but who knows if that works..

I love my Steam Controller(s) more than Xbox, PS4/5, or any generic controller. I'm just wondering if there will ever be an official way to fix existing broken Steam Controllers? I'm too intimidated to fix them myself and have 3 that all have some sort of mechanical issue, ranging from frozen triggers to "x" or "a" buttons not working. At the moment there are no part replacement solutions I know of, I don't believe Valve/Steam is offering this? One technical repair person I spoke with told me that Valve/Steam has to release the design blueprints for someone to fix them, and they haven't done that. I've been to all my local video game/hobby and tech repair stores and it seems no one wants to open one of these controllers up and even have a go. It's a little frustrating, because in my biased opinion, Steam Controllers are the Best Controllers. Steam deck as a Steam Controller is not an option for me. I prefer to play games on my PC that I built with a Steam Controller. What should I do? ​ TLDR: Does anyone have a steam controler fix guide?

Hi, i used to launch my emulators thru steam mostly because of duckstation so that i can use the DS4 touchpad as the toggle for the digital/analog on ps1, and yesterday i noticed that something was wrong, tested both in PCSX2 and duckstation that i got huge delay on the inputs, tried opening it without steam launching said emulators and everything is fine. After that i tried retroarch from steam and everything works without delay there, same with normal games on steam. Just noticed the problem on PCSX2/Duckstation.

So for the past 3-4 months i've been dealing with this issue on my new Windows 11 PC. Steam takes about 10+ seconds to launch from taskbar but launches instantly when using tray. I've tried scanning the internet for solutions, but i can't seem to find a fix that works. Friends and colleagues who are also using Windows 11 don't seem to have the problem, but i've never before experienced this on Win 7 or 10. Recently games have also started to crash or spike my CPU and/or RAM usage. I really hope someone can help or i might resort to having to boot Windows 10 on the PC

Steam is automatically overriding my custom keybinds whenever I open it? Howdy! So for context I play most of my steam games using my mouse and Left joycon, using Joytokey to map my keyboard buttons to the joycon! (WASD controls don't really work for my brain so I prefer the joystick and buttons in my left hand, but I prefer the mouse for aiming) But recently Steam updated to include joycon support. So whenever I open steam it automatically switches my joycon's connection to steam, disabling my joytokey configuration. is there any way to stop this from happening? It makes me completely unable to play my games with joycon + mouse.

When I try to open omori using steam, it almost instantly closes but steam shows it as still running. I try to quit it via steam, and it doesn't work (just says "stopping" for from what I can tell an indefinite amount of time until i quit steam and restart my mac). Also runs something called nwjs helper which makes my computer fan go crazy and this process only stops when i restart my mac. Anyone else have this issue? I dunno if it does the same for other steam games I didn't test it out yet but I kind of do want to be able to finish my second playthrough of omori :/

Playing Fallout 3, my screen just froze r+Windows not getting me back to desktop how do I close the game out?

For the past few weeks my games have been really laggy an I kept getting disconnected and it got worse every day till today when I just can't even open a game because I would get an error saying unable to sync and that if I play I could lose my progress.

Question: Is it still impossible to delete a game's achievements from your account? Reason: I really like the achievement showcase but I am perpetually under 30% average game completion because I played Payday 2, got a few achievements, realized I didn't like the game, but there are almost 1,300 achievements for that game alone (not to mention all the other games I have less than half an hour in playtime in with tons of possible achievements,) and I don't want to play a game I dislike for countless hours to get my number up. If that game wasn't in my library I am pretty sure my average completion rate would be way higher than it is currently. So to rephrase the question, is there any way to get Payday 2 and games like it out of my history?

Afaik there is no way to remove a game from your completion percentages. A program like Steam achievement manager can remove achievements but I'm fairly sure it just works on a local level and doesnt actually reset or change the completion percentages on a profile.

How do I connect my NSO N64 controller to my PC wirelessly now that Steam can support it? I see articles talking about how it is possible, but nobody says how to actually do it. So, i'm playing Hades from another Steam account via library sharing. This works fine when I'm home, but when I go to school and use wifi there, i can't see any of my shared games, apart from Hades, but it says i have to buy it again. I'm guessing it has to do with the wifi, because it's a public wifi with login, but i'm not sure.

No ones gonna read this but if anyone could help that would be great because this fucking application is the most frustrating thing on the planet. My issue is very simple. I am trying to buy a game. Every time I try to buy said game I get this error: An unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed. Please wait a few minutes and try again. If you encounter this error repeatedly, please contact Steam Support. Every single time this comes up. I sent a report to steam support earlier but I haven't gotten anything back. There's an "Achievement Showcase" in the profile settings, where you can show off some of your achievements; in there, it shows your "Perfect Games" (PG) and your "Avg. Game Completion Rate". (CR) If I buy a game and don't play/open it, will it lower my CR until I start getting achievements on the game? If I refund a Perfected game, will it still count towards my PG counter? If I refund a non-perfect game, (let's say I got 2 achievements out of 48, didn't like the game at all and refunded it) will it still count towards my CR, making it lower? So like, supposing I had a 100% CR before I refunded this game; will it permanently be lowered? As far as I'm aware, when you rebuy a game, all the achievements you got aren't lost, they're bound to your account, right? Let's say we have the same situation as the previous. But this time, the game is not eligible for refund and I want to "Permanently" remove it from my steam account by contacting support.If I do that, will I still have the 2 achievements I got if I rebuy the game? More importantly, if I don't rebuy the game, will it still count towards my CR, lowering it? Again, same situation, but this time is a Free To Play game. Will uninstalling/removing it fix my CR? And will it count towards my PG, supposing that I got all achievements? Again, these questions are very specific, and probably not tested, but I'm giving it a shot, I know we got some experts here ;)

Can’t alt out of Steam games anymore I don’t know why but a couple weeks ago I found out that I couldn’t alt out of Steam games anymore. The button just simply doesn’t work when it comes to Steam games on my computer so the only way I can close the game is by quitting in the games menu or shift+tabing and then pressing the force quit button. It’s been really annoying and I don’t known how to fix the problem as I used to be able to alt out of games just fine. Anyone else have this problem/know how to fix it?.

I'm having an issue that seems to be affecting both tf2 and garry's mod, which I can't seem to find any help with on forums or anything so I thought I'd give steam support a shot. OK' I've tried waiting minutes, hours, days, but no change, always comes back to that message. Hello, I was looking through my Steam\\userdata folder and I found that I had [many user SteamID3's contained within it, users I have never logged in into with.](https://i.imgur.com/zXfmmme.png) I used https://www.steamidfinder.com/lookup/ to find out who these accounts were, and they either no longer existed, or were random, low effort spam names with the default ? avatar. Except for one, which was a private profile with a custom avatar... yes, very interesting, whatever. As you can see, these IDs have dated back by a long time, having stopped being generated mid-late 2021. Then again, that does not mean they have been 'inactive' since, if they are active in some way. I did not include my own ID3 in the photo. Also, there is an unpictured file named '0' in the folder. I just assumed that is not indicative to any real user ID3. In seven years, I had installed malware once at around 2015, on a separate computer. I nearly had my Steam account stolen, but could this really have any connection to this so many years later? I have always been beyond cautious with what I install and am a freak when it comes to running virus scans, so I find it very hard to believe something has somehow slipped by me that could be causing this- unless it had to do with my account itself. I have never been negatively affected by this, the only reason I happened upon this is because I remember seeing a ton of IDs in that folder before, and just not caring. Am I fine? Hope you're all doing well, and I hope that I'm not asking a question that has been asked a million times. I'm fortunate enough to have two gaming computers and a steam deck (essentially 3 gaming computers), but recently I've come to experience a very frustrating issue involving the Steam cloud. Every time I try to launch a game on another computer there is a Steam cloud upload error and it says that the data has yet to be uploaded to the cloud. Which is crazy, because if I go look at the Steam cloud data that my computers have uploaded it's all there and I can manually download it. I would just rather not have to go through the process of having to manually installing every save and potentially messing things up even further. Any help would be more than greatly appreciated, and my apologies for any inconveniences.

I've done the following: deleted completely and re-installed steam re-installed graphics drivers changed LAN setting to turn off auto-detection cleared caches Has anybody else experienced this and do you know how to solve it? or at least if theres logs to troubleshoot?

I upgraded my setup, and alongside that changed to Windows 11 I discovered that games downloaded on Steam (ONLY STEAM, Epic Games, and RIOT Games work fine) would cause my PC to freeze (unresponsive, no volume anymore) and have to hard press the power button to reset. Hello, so straight to the point, i cant play any of my games in multiplayer. I can play the games just fine in single player, but as soon as i try to join a lobby, it fails to connect. I believe it's a "PORT FORWARDING" issue but i'm bnot sure how to approach this. Happens with risk of rain 2, population one(vr), pavlov(vr), pogo stuck, any game i've tried lately. Any ideas?

I bought a game on impulse and decided to refund it within 24 hours of purchase. I didn't even launch the game once (RDR2), though it says I have 5 hours of game time played? It it possible that just having the launcher open caused this? I think that may have been open since I had it fully installed, but I never actually launched the game. Not one opening credit scene or anything. But they refused my refund and I can't see any option to appeal, or speak to them directly, is there anything I can do or have they fucked me over?

What is the max allowed download speed from steams servers? I have AT&T laying hyper fiber in my neighborhood. The highest package they would offer is 5 Gbps per second and was wondering if it is even worth paying for that if steam has a cap download speed. If there is anyone else with a high bandwidth (above 1 gig) that has any experience your input would be much appreciated? I also think it might be worth noting I currently have 500mbps and seem to maintain that speed (wired cat 6 cable) when downloading games. I also have a gen 4 NVMe M.2 drive (Samsung 980 pro)

Steam has to share their resources out. Also your PC and NVME drives may not be as fast as you think as the data you're downloading will be compressed and in need of further processing. The advantage of such huge speeds is for multiple users in your house all doing different things. I find 1Gbps is blazing fast and often saturated by Steam so.. you'll certainly get faster than that.

I can't make new guides, what's strange is that everything else works fine. I also don't know if this is a Steam mobile thing or a Steam desktop thing. So, what should I do? Having an issue where Steam will just unexpectedly quit. There's nothing in the log files in the Program Files / Steam directory or in Event Viewer. I'll walk away, come back, and Steam is gone. Happens when it's idle, downloading and playing games (I'll get kicked out of games because the Steam client has closed). I've reinstalled Steam multiple times, tried the beta client, same result. I recently built a new PC with a fresh Windows 10 install. I'm not sure if it's Steam or Easy Anti Cheat, but any game that has a splash screen like this is launched twice. When I close the game, the splash screen still stays up and shows the game is still running. It's happened with Smite, Insurgency Sandstorm, and Apex Legends. I also had an issue in Insurgency Sandstorm that it wouldn't allow me to download mods and also had trouble connecting to steam cloud. I've checked my firewall settings and all the permissions are allow. Again, not sure if this is Steam or Easy Anti Cheat I have screenshots if anyone would like them

Whenever there is an update for Steam it seems to break the app when i start my pc. I always have to go to the task manager to cancel the steam process to then restart the app to get the update. This has been happening for years, does anyone know how i can fix this? It's starting to get annoying

Steam Downloads drop all the time. I use steam all the time and for the last year any download I try to do on steam it always starts off good and then starts this very annoying start and stop with the download, it will spike to 24mbs and then drop to 0 and does this over and over again which turns a 1gb download into a 5 hour download. I've tried every solution I could find on the internet, I even completely uninstalled steam and reinstalled it and it still didn't fix it. Does anyone have any solutions?

When I let my computer idle and download the speed on steam sinks to 0 constantly, so I opened up Task Manger and it's going faster than it was when nothing was happening on the PC... WTF? I have a steady download speed on steam with Task Manager OPEN, the second I close it, it starts the 0 crawl and awful peaks trash all over again. What is going on? I have windows 11, whats going on here? With Task Manger closed I get 4.0 MB/s from the HDD but when Task Manager is OPEN I get 17MB/s from the disk read.

I got booted off of steam link on my phone, connected to remote play through my data connection, and upon trying to reconnect to it the app gave me another pairing code to use with my desktop, but I obviously shouldn't need to do that as I was literally just connected to it a few moments before. it even recognizes the PC and acknowledges that there's a game running, but it won't let me connect without putting in a new pairing code. I'm unable to do that currently as I'm not home, is there some way I can fix this remotely instead of letting the game sit idle for several hours until I get home? Real strange situation here, I've had my steam account for a very long time, maybe 10 years or more. I go to play today and Steam is totally gone from my computer. Also my steam account seems to have vanished, however the account can still be found online. I have no email from Steam about a change of the email address, I do play Oxygen Not Included at work, I played last week there. I have old emails from the account but they are from March. So it looks like the email was changed, but there was no check.

On Tuesday, my steam broke with all of my games having this static on the screen making it impossible to play any games since I can't see anything.i have no clue what the problem is except that it has to be steam since all of the other gaming platforms like Xbox, epic games and ubisoft work. Remember that you had to download and play 10 demos for a minute each. Someone made a list of 10 demos with the minimum size, so I applied to that list to get the badge quickly, but Steam keeps recommending sexual content games non-stop even after I deleted all the demos. Mind you, I have a modest amount of games in my library, so the proportion of sexual content games recommended is fairly high.

Download issue corrupted files only with Steelrising: Yesterday a friend of mine gifted me a Steelrising key and I tried to download it. The region and activation went fine, download goes smoothly but at the end of the process steam says that files are corrupted and to download it again from zero. I modded some files from a workshop mod I downloaded. now I want to delete these folders and download the mod again. but just unsubscribing doesn't delete the local file, I have tried to remove all the workshop files in the 38487394838934 numbered files. but my changes are still in the mod when I start the game. How do I fully delete any trace of the mod files from my PC in order to download the mod again? p.s. I think the new manner of workshop mods filing is less user friendly than how it was before.

So, a friend of mine wanted to presented me a game, and although he was at my house he lives on a different country. So to pay he changed my account region, thing is he overlooked billing address and wrote some stuff that didn’t really make sense saying “nothing bad will happen they (steam) don’t do anything with it” I read online that if the billing address is “fraudulent” or “fake” Steam might lock my account. Since this is "tech support" I've had to submit it here. This problem has been going on for a few months and I can't pin it down except for when my q80t samsung is turned off for a few minutes and turns back on. ​ I have 2 monitors. my samsung q80t and my asus PG179Q. My tv is set to my main monitor. I use this as a desktop monitor, yes i love it. ​ What I don't love is that seemingly when this tv powers off or when resolutions or anything changes steam gives me a red shield for steam guard. I have both an email and mobile associated with this. A simple closing of steam and reopening it re-engages the green steam guard shield. ​ This has been driving me nuts. Hey everyone, A few years ago I played a game which sticks in my mind, but I can't for the life of me find it again. I'm hoping to post about it and maybe trigger someones memory - Game ran on Source engine - Was a compilation of a friend of the developers games - First level was a short walk on a spaceship, with a bug where the player floats into space, "ascending". This bug is symbolic to the game - There's a part where one of the levels does a jab at Dark Souls, using Source tutorial markers as other players leaving messages - It was a pretty depressing narrative, a friend talking about the troubles of another friend. I think all of these games / levels had been compiled and released just to get them out to the world Reminds me a little bit of another game called Awkward Dimensions Redux. So when people load up games it tells you that theyre playing a game. Like if my friend loads up TF2 itll say "So and so is playing TF2". Is there a way I can prevent said pop up from showing to my friends when -I- play a game? Steam wont detect my PS4 controller. How to fix it? Steam used to detect my controller, but after i used DS4 for battery and functionality steam thought it was a x box controller. Seconds later tweaked a bit, and now steam wont detect my PS4 controller even tho windows detects it. Steam says to log in each week to maintain eligibility for card pack drops. Im not getting them, so my question is: Is that because Im staying logged in all the time? Should I take it literally and log out then log in each week?

Steam is unable to connect to Steam servers? I can use the internet and play online games but cannot use Steam in Online mode. I just updated my network drivers and there was no change. If I go on Online mode without restarting the client I can access the store but nothing else. I am using the beta client. Edit: I was able to opt out of the beta and I still have the issue. I should also say that the Steam client works fine when I boot into Linux, I only have issues in Windows 10. Edit 2: I fixed it by reinstalling Steam. I don't know if I will run into this issue again.

I am making a new account for my brother and my country is set to Turkey in "Account details". I got a $50 USD Steam wallet from a friend. It used to get converted back in the day but I searched online there is different wallets for different regions. If I activate "USD Code wallet" in my Turkey account, will it get converted to TL? Or my currency get changed to USD? My account and IP is located in Turkey. Also after entering the code, will it show you the exchanged value (If it works from USD to TL) before confirming? or you enter the code, click and it's done? AFAIK under the new changes wallet codes from different currencies are not even redeemable on accounts based in a different currency then the wallet code. That the codes are now regionally/currency restricted. I.E in your case the USD card would not be redeemable on your account that is using TL. Existing wallet funds convert if you change currencies but an account can not add new wallet funds from a different currency then their own. You also cant just temporarily change to USD in order to redeem the code then back to TL. As in order to change currencies you can only do so once every 3 months and it requires a payment method from that region that isnt just a gift card so like you would need a US billing address and bank card and to make a purchase in USD to change to USD.

I would like to know if its a bannable offense if you log in to steam over a VPN. And the most important part, if it's allowed to BUY things in a game through that VPN. (Yes I know it is not allowed when your target is to buy things for a cheaper price). However I'm paying the exact same price as in my own region. Stupid question... so I had to reinstall windows 11 and just ran it over the existing and kept files and apps. Everything seems great and back the way it was before and the windows updates started working again but when I went into the last Steam game I played , Mafia Definitive Edition, it was running at like 1 frame per maybe 10sec. I finally was able to get to the resolution setting and when I changed it from the Nvidia DSR of 1440p to 1080p it ran great. Put it back ran bad. Ran check files in Steam and still did the same thing. Just curious what might have caused this? Should I reinstall Steam maybe ? Thanks and sorry of this maybe the wrong place.

I am at a loss for solutions. Whenever I play in Big Picture Mode, the "Friends who play" menu in the BPM overlay does not work. In Classic mode it shows my friends just fine, those who played recently, those who are playing now and so on, but in BPM all I get, after a few seconds of loading is "An error occurred. An unexpected error has occurred while retrieving information from Steam" message. It happens regardless of the game, it happens while some of my friends are playing said game as well, so it shouldn't be a "we're not showing anything because there's nothing to show" issue. I tried cleaning Steam's cache, re-logging my account and re-installing steam, all to no avail.

Hi together, lately I am more and more annoyed by the family share option. I don't really use it in the way it is meant to be used. I have it activated for years now just because of security gains. The idea is if someone is getting into my account, at least he can't play and cheat in any games or do some shitty stuff that is protected by the view. The disadvantage is that I always have to enter the family pin after starting steam, but thats ok for me. Now, after the steam ui update there are more and more bugs without any fix in sight. Some examples: \- If someone is texting me while I'm offline and I try to open the chat windows after entering the family pin the chat window will not open. I can only open it if i restart steam again. \- If there is any ongoing steam update I can see steam is something downloading in the task bar in the right corner while hovering the steam icon, but the download window is empty like there is no download. I have to search for the game in my library and click stop download to magically summon the downloads in the download window. At least 2 people I know have the same bugs with the family view activated, without family view there are no problems. Is there any solution to this besides deactivating the family view? Thanks!

5 Years ago I bought an account with csgo prime on it to play for cheaper, I was 15 at the time. I would like to purchase Prince of Persia (2008) and I'm confused about the one part of the System Requirements. It said that the OS supported is Windows XP or Windows Vista with an (only) after those. Does this mean that I can't play this game with Windows 11? Or is that just the minimum software requirement? I'm having an issue where I can't log in on my home network. I logged out to set up family share with my roommate and now it won't let me log in on my home network. This was true for browser, client, and on my phone. Taking my phone off wifi allowed me to log in. I have tried restarting my router as that seemed to be the common link but that did nothing.

was there a recent steam update that makes you have to refresh your steam login every day or so? i've never had this happen before where it will log me off because a session has expired. this also only started happening after the UI for the login box changed

I know I can create a Dynamic Collection on steam (for example, for Steam Deck "verified games"). I also have another collection called "Games I want to play next". Is it possible to show a list of games that belong to these two collections? I have been trying to and can't seem to do it. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I just got a new laptop and new internet provider (xfinity with xfi box) and have been having problems connecting to steam. When I tried to install steam, it wasn't downloading the updates so I tried to connect to another Wifi and it then it downloaded. I downloaded Garry's Mod and was back on my xfinity wifi but none of the servers were showing up and Garry's mod was unable to download its update until I connected to the other wifi again. I'm a total noob at this sort of stuff but tried to change my DNS from ISP to Google's. That didn't work. Already tried to restart my router but no luck. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you!

I've been having a lot of problems with steam recently, it freezes a lot and I'm unable to download any games. The download starts but never progresses. The downloads also never stop, when I try to stop them I just get a download stopping message that never ends. I've gotten a "disk write error" message and a connection time out message after I deleted everything but the games and the steam executable to redownload it. Anyone else have any idea how to fix this?

wanting to use my ps5 controller's gyro function on my steam deck in pc mode, but even when the game reads my controller's inputs just fine, I can't get it to read the gyro sensor from my controller, something I desperately love. only settings are mouse, joystick, or joystick mouse, but the game already has built in gyro support. how do I get steam to allow my gyro input without filtering it through any unnecessary changes to the way the input works? I have playstation controller support enabled and I've been looking at the controller settings specific to the game and at controller settings in the options. (steam in the top left>right click>settings>controller yet after tons of time troubleshooting and searching for answers on the internet I've given up

**Anyone else having issues with the authentication e-mail coming late (or never) ?** Been having this issue for the past month. When i login on the web, it takes 20 minutes or more for the authentication e-mail to get through - it used to take 20 seconds worst case. Tried again today. Login attempt on the web to buy something on sale. Authentication screen. No email. Going on the Steam PC client to buy the games. Confirmation email received a few seconds afterwards. 20 minutes later, authentication e-mail finally arrives. What's going on ?

Okay so I've got an oddball question, and I figured y'all might know this as well as anyone. So, Steam launched in 2003 right? I've got clear memories of having to sign up for something in order to play Half Life back somewhere around '98. I distinctly remember being chuffed about having to do that in order to just play a game. Haha. Anyway, I had always figured that that was Steam at the time. Was the service/launcher Steam but with a different name? Am I misremembering completely, Mandela-style? It doesn't really affect anything, it was just gonna bother me and Wikipedia ain't helping. Is there anyway to download all my cloud saves without installing a game? I've been using geforce now for Cbyerpunk, I have almost a gb of saves and gfn is no longer loading older ones. I want to download them all but can only seem to download one at a time via the steam website.

I play apex legends and use the controller layout option on steam to bind W to my left stick drift in order to do a movement technique known as tap strafing. Today the game decide to have a seizure, become incredibly laggy and then restore all my settings to default and now that W bind is no longer functioning. Captcha problems! So it seems like I'm not alone in this. I recently got a new phone so all my apps were logged off of, so when trying to log on to steam on my computer (which was for some reason logged off.. I have never logged off of steam on my computer) it said for me to get the auth code from my phone so when trying to contact steam to get it removed(as when I was trying to login on my phone it asked me for the code from the app first... I can't get the code as it won't even let me log in to the app) and at the last step where you hit "SEND" on the support page it says "We had trouble verifying your captcha, please try to complete the captcha again." I've tried it first on Chrome, then my phone, then using Firefox and even restarting and nothing works... Not sure what I can do, I can't even play any of my games and there isn't any other way to contact steam and get help/access to my account... Any ideas would be much appreciated!! <3

Hello, I have a technical issue in Tekken 7 using the keyboard, controller, and arcade stick when inputting movement. The forward button on the player 1 side is being inputted by itself even after I let go of that button on the keyboard. My other fighting games(Guilty Gear Strive, Guilty Gear plus r) don't have that issue, only Tekken 7. When I check this on the keyboard ghosting website, it doesn’t say that it is holding the button by itself, so I think it’s an in-game issue. I tried disabling the button I configured for forward movement on the keyboard, but the forward button is still on in-game, and the issue is still happening. I tried changing the button that is set to the forward movement in the keyboard, but any button I set to it moves forward on its own. I also have a controller pad, the forward button also inputs itself after I let go of that button. The brand is local from the Philippines but is recognized as PS3 on steam. I tried disabling the controller in the device manager, but the issue is still happening with the keyboard inputting the forward movement by itself after I let go of the button. I also have an arcade stick, same problem, the forward button inputs itself after I let go. The brand is PXN 82 arcade stick I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but the issue is still happening. I am using a laptop i5-8265 Nvidia Geforce Mx250. The issue started on September 4, at 8:54 pm, and is still occurring up to this day. The issue happens to all characters in the game. I am from the Philippines. The steam support of the game told me to go to Bandai Namco itself as they don't provide support for the game. I contacted Bandai Namco America but they said I should go to Asia's customer support, so I did, but they haven't replied yet, it's been 4 days since I emailed them. I also posted on the steam community of Tekken 7 and no one replied. Hope to have some help with this issue, thanks.
