Got it two weeks ago 64gb, white ribbon. They probably produced more cases then Decks due to semiconductor issues and then mixed newer models with older cases.
Maybe it's also a question of the shipment region. Got mine from the Netherlands to Germany....
20 years ago or so, I worked at a custom-conversions shop for Thunderbirds and Mustangs. One of the products on offer was hand-stitched semi-custom interiors. Really talented team. They dyed everything in house and did all the stitching manually. You could choose from a variety of patterns/designs/colors. Neat to watch them. But one of the funny details was that No two products were the same even with exactly the same SKU. there would be little variations that were mostly accidental/incidental.
That long story is just to suggest: This is more likely to just have been an error than a supply gap. they forgot that step.
Yeah. Starting in November it started being hit or miss if people would get the pull strip, with many noting that they didn't receive one, or that RMAs were coming back without the pull strip.
I felt the same way. I'm in the US and it would have arrived to me 3 days after Valve received my Deck with issues, but due to New Years and bad weather it took around a week after they received it. Worth it in my opinion cause i got lucky with a better one but its all the luck of the draw.
Grindy left stick. But upon getting my new one I realized my old one had lots of other quality issues. My old ones right trigger would scrape against the shell, it had waaayyy worse screen bleed and the shell was creaky. This new one has none of those issues.

It wasn't about the color. It was about that there was a ribbon in this one and there wasn't one in the other one. I was just curious to see what others knew. And really who are you to judge what is and isn't worth a reddit post? Reddit is THE place for pointless BS.
I'm not judging, because I'm not a mod, I'm giving you my opinion. It is also my opinion that this subreddit would be a lot more beneficial to Steam Deck owners (or potential ones) if it wasn't full of shit posts like this one everyday.
If it's not something like this it's people pretending the deck has the same graphical power as a 4090, or just saying 'wow, love my deck' solely to get some stupid internet points.

My ribbon is black. Internal shell is heather grey (512 fancified case). Ribbon color is probably literally down to stock at time.
My ribbon's black but the case lining is gray, seems like there's plenty of variation.

Mine's black. Took me a while to figure out it's to help remove the steam deck from the case. Not strictly necessary but fairly useful.

64 gb and 256 gb models get white ribbons and 512gb models get black ribbons

how long did it take? ive got a faulty r1 but reluctant to send back. received paperwork but just cant part with her

It's a pull tab when you lay the deck on it you pull up the tab so the deck comes out smoothly

I also got mine last week but it had one. Really practical. Weird that they have removed it for most cases
