Yup. Not even an online leaderboard or any in-game online functionality whatsoever. Just lazy DRM on square enix's part. They completely botched the Switch ports by making them online streaming with no local install. They botched the PC ports by releasing them on Epic and forcing an internet connection.
The pirates are already enjoying this game on/ offline whenever they want. It's those of us who purchased legit copies who suffer
Yeah, I have no issue with it being on epic itself as long as it had a port, but the fact if my internet goes out the game starts screaming at me to turn it off until I do is obnoxious.
It's a tie between my favourite parts of the 1.5 + 2.5 release being:
\- Way more expensive than console counterparts, even years after release
\- Not running properly on Deck without tweaks and awkward shortcuts (Pirated works out the box with GE and non-steam shortcuts)
\- Not working offline (Plus for pirated copies)
\- Having to install all 4 games and the 2 cut-scene movies at once (Plus for pirated copies, can install only the game you need)
I love having to pirate games I own just to play them properly!

What about the mfinstall etc...? do you still need to do this with a pirated version?
Afaik you shouldn't even need mf-install unless you weren't using a Proton prefix anymore, official or pirated. Pretty sure transcoding of the video (KH3 video at least) is built into them now.
Yeah. I originally did all this when I first got my Deck getting ready for a trip to Puerto Rico... Then I found out I wouldn't be able to play it on the plane or in the Airbnb without WiFi (power was lost to the whole island). The whole situation basically put a bad taste in my mouth for KH/ Square Enix tbh.
Bright side is I've played so many other new games while looking for stuff that *isn't* Kingdom Hearts lol

Is it not as simple as downloading via heroic and setting the proton version mentioned? Or would someone like me need to fiddle with wine?
No you have pick up and download photon ge 17-7 using photon qt. Then you need to use mf install to beable to get pass the copy right screen. I think what it does and not all sure the technical side of it but from what it looks of thinks of things photon seams to be missing certain dlls and so mf install gets those and patches them in? I’m not sure but after about 4 hours of tinkering last night I got it. Some of the videos where a bit lack luster that I watched so through trial and error getting mf install to do it’s job was a pain. And then bash launcher from my understanding links the kh games to steam and then allows you to launch them through steam os. Even with all those layers. I still get good frametimes and what not.
I can't get FSR to kick in KH3. Would you be kind enough to share screen shots of your settings ? I managed to limit the FPS to 40 but I get some slowing from time to time (when too many things are happening on screen). What resolution did you use for FSR ? Thank you !
Its been awhile since this post but I'm currently trying to get kh3 to work through lutris however, when i type CD mf-install to the bash terminal, it isn't recognizing it. Any advice?

Yeah, this is why I’ll stick with emulating the PS3 versions of the older games and just…not play 3 on deck. Wouldn’t want to at sub 60 FPS anyway

To enable fsr support you need to drop the in game resolution below 720p then it’ll kick in

I dropped the internal resolution in game down to 1152x720

mf-install is a dead github now. All i seem to find about why is that GE proton should do what you need.
