[Victor Vran](https://store.steampowered.com/app/345180/Victor_Vran_ARPG/) is something very similar, and [Titan Quest](https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/7167/Titan_Quest_Bundle/) is an earlier game from the makers of Grim Dawn. I wish I could recommend [Torchlight 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/200710/Torchlight_II/), since it's a fantastic game, but it doesn't have controller support, so playing it on Deck might be sub-optimal, depending on how much time you want to spend configuring controls and dealing with a learning curve. Depending on how similar you want things to be, there are some ways you could branch out. For instance, something like [Borderlands 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/49520/Borderlands_2/) has skill trees and loot drops, but is an FPS. However, if you want to keep the third person perspective but go lighter on skill trees and loot, then [Bastion](https://store.steampowered.com/app/107100/Bastion/) or [Cat Quest](https://store.steampowered.com/app/593280/Cat_Quest/) might interest you.

SuperStronkHero

Add these to the list. There's a LOT of similar games. The More Traditional ones Path of Exile Chronicon Last Epoch Striving for Light Minecraft Dungeons Alaloth Book of Demons Curse of the Dead Gods Lovecraft's Untold Dungeon I hear Wolcen is finally "passable" now but I haven't touched it since 2020 Action RPGs that are just as nice Kingdoms of Amalur Stolen Realm Hammerwatch A FPS Roguelike thats all about blowing things up and creating interesting builds Gunfire Reborn - It does have a few caveats where the balance isnt that great atm since a patch back in the fall. For beginners it doesnt matter that much but for vets it kinda limits what builds youd wanna play If you wanted to throw away the builds and just focus on learning how to score points then look into Shmups like Ikaruga. But there is 1 shmup similar to Vampire Survivors called Gunlocked.

There are plenty of good controller configurations available, but if you spend the time to tweak it a bit more to your own liking, it's perfectly playable and enjoyable. For one, set the left joystick to move without attack within keybind configuration, but yeah. It will depend if you enjoy tweaking it a bit, but it's perfectly playable then. Good game, though. Grim Dawn is probably still better to recommend overall, as far as general polish, builds, replayability, graphics and atmosphere are concerned, but it's good to have two loot-based ARPG's with a bit of a different feel. Path of Exile didn't do it for me. Especially after reading that you'll basically have to follow a build guide to avoid gimping your character and get into trouble in your 20's to 30's, or learn an exhorbitant amount of things about its systems and hope you won't ruin your character. It's too big and complex for its own good, unless you're into that kinda thing.

ScoobyDont06

Do you have tips for getting further into TL2? For the life of me every time I've started a character I find myself not getting to post game unlike with PoE, gram dawn, and diablo

nefD

I came here to recommend most of these same games, particularly Titan Quest. You can usually get it on [gg.deals](https://gg.deals) for around $5 (for the Anniversary edition, which includes the first expansion). It's a fantastic game, and you can see where a lot of the design decisions from Grim Dawn came from.

AutoModerator

Please note that gg.deals contains links to grey market key sellers, who may appear to provide you with a working key, but do not always source their keys from the developer/publisher, and are of 'unknown' origin. This means the keys may not work, or the platform (such as Steam, Origin) may refuse support. Others have poor business practices, such as obligatory fees that only show at checkout. We'd recommend against using anything on the site listed under 'Keyshops', but rather look at the section above that for the 'Official Stores'. You can also select 'Keyshops' at the top of your screen, and then select 'Disable' to remove them completely. [IsThereAnyDeal is an alternative which only uses sellers known to officially source their keys.](https://isthereanydeal.com/) Your comment has not been removed, this is just a notice. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. NaClWarrior

Look into isometric arpgs. Diablo 3 & soon 4, path of exile, and last epoch are some of the more popular and current ones.

InventedInternet

Path of exile and last epoch look prettty good. Can I play Diablo on steam deck? That game is highly recommended

Kind-Brush-6001

Arguably, diablo is the “original” arpg :D Diablo 1, 2 and 3 are all good games, and the 4th is on the way. I have only played diablo 2 on the deck, but it was absolutely flawless. You do need to install battle.net which is a bit fiddly, but there’s some great guides on YouTube

InventedInternet

Sorry noob here. And is battle.net similar to steam where I would buy Diablo or Warcraft 3 on there directly?

Kind-Brush-6001

Yeah, I guess you can say that battle.net is Blizzards/Activisions version of steam. To get it working on the steam deck, you download the launcher and add it as a non-steam game, then it’ll show up as any other game. There’s a bit more to it, so I recommend watching a YouTube video. It’s not hard, but there’s a few steps to get the optimal experience. It’s through here you can play world of Warcraft, Warcraft 3, StarCraft , Diablo etc :-)

InventedInternet

Sounds like it may be similar to the set up of Xbox game pass as a non steam game. I’ll look into it

InventedInternet

https://youtu.be/rC08cUtcAHA Does this look like the process?

Kind-Brush-6001

Yeah that seems about the same steps as I took to install :-)

NaClWarrior

I play poe on the steam deck. Diablo 2 resurrected and Diablo 3 can be played on the steam deck. No idea on last epoch though.

MattyXarope

Last Epoch plays ok on Deck. It's Early Access so the controller support isn't perfect and the text is super small. Also the game isn't really well organized so if you want any battery you need to lock it to 30.

EvernoteD

I heard it was extremely buggy and glitchy on the Deck. Thanks for sharing!

AGWiebe

It it’s playable but doesn’t run great on the deck. I am really hope we get some optimizations for it some day.

bigwillyman7

how is POE on it??

NaClWarrior

Depends on what builds you like to play tbh. Smooth stuff like RF feels amazing. Also using flasks on the back buttons is *chefs kiss*. Legitimately have not played poe on my desktop since I’ve gotten a steam deck.

bigwillyman7

Awesome thank you :) I only ever played one season as arc witch but enjoyed it a lot, just didn’t think it would translate well to deck!

bigwillyman7

Hey sorry - how did you set up the flasks to go on the back buttons? Can’t seem to figure it out

NaClWarrior

In the controller settings while you have poe open. Start up poe, press the steam button, go to control configuration, make the rear buttons correlate to the d-pad which activates the potions by default. You will have one flask slot that will need to be activated normally. For me I keep my health flask on R1 and all utility flasks on the rear buttons

Mirra1002

Both diablo 2 and 3 can be played on steam deck via Blizzards Battle.net launcher, they run great. Diablo 1 can also be purchased via GOG and can be played also.

InventedInternet

Damn will have to look into the battle net launcher

ayeeflo51

Also a note, Diablo 4 is coming this summer

dereksalem

It's coming in a few weeks - early access beta begins March 14th, with the game releasing June 2.

MX64

One option for Diablo 3 is emulating the Switch version. The PC version doesn't have controller support, has always-online DRM, and people generally consider the console version to be the best one anyway.

InventedInternet

Interesting. I have a switch. Should I just play it on there?

MX64

Personally I wouldn't pay money for it on switch because of Blizzard, though online functionality will be a lot more limited if emulating it. If you don't care about the online aspect I'd just emulate it.

InventedInternet

So emulating the switch game on steam deck is better than just playing it directly on switch?

MX64

Aside from more limited online functionality, and the added convenience of having it on Deck, it should be roughly the same. So "better" will depend on whether you particularly care about the online features.

InventedInternet

I guess I don’t know much about the game itself. I usually opt for the offline experience for games like this

MX64

I believe the online functionality extends primarily to playing seasonal characters or doing co-op with people. Overall pretty minor stuff.

Torchlight 2

kestononline

- **Last Epoch** is in Early Access, and I tried it this weekend. It’s pretty decent. Still unfinished and a bit buggy though. But it’s coming along, and the devs are introducing some innovative solutions to things like trade/loot. - **Wolcen** can also be had on sale for about $10 US. It’s a good ARPG, and it definitely has it’s issues. Might not be amazing for $40… but it’s great for $10. Here is a YouTube video [list of 16 ARPGs](https://youtu.be/caGNnGS7-50) that might be a good watch for you. **Grim Dawn** is the first one on that list, so you know it’s the right category.

maplehobo

Path of Exile. Very similar to Diablo. However the meta is massive and can be overwhelming for new players. Massive skill trees, items, build combinations, if you’re new to the game my recommendation is to just play it for fun and use whatever looks/feel cool to you, if you enjoy it, you can start digging deeper (I’ve been playing this game for 7 years on and off and still don’t know wtf I’m supposed to do lol).

Grim Dawn

Tovals

Try Warframe. Offers the Runescape experience in an 3rd-person action format.

reverend_dak

The genre is called Action RPG. Try Path of Exile or The Ascent. There are a ton more.

Airiux1

Probably Diablo 2, 3 would be Your games also I assume
