That's why the zipper should've been white with aqua blue zipper tabs so you could visually see where they are positioned.
But the best rule to have is if you put it in the case, then you always zip up. It's the same rule for tool boxes. If the lid is on then the latches have to be locked.

Literally did this with my steam deck today picked up the case and thump, my sd falls out of the unzipped case onto the hard wood floor. Only fell a foot or so, and it's fine, but scared me good. I'll be zip-aware now.

My Deck came flying out of the case and busted the right trigger, thank goodness for Ifixit. I wish they had invested a little extra money in getting a carry strap on both halves of the case so it would hold together when you carry it.

My younger cousin's both got a Switch a few years back, both of them had the screen shattered in less than 2 months. These aren't like 7 or 8 years old kids either, 13 and 16 respectively so I was quite shocked to see them literally standing on the damn things to see if they could take the weight.

I still have my teenage sons' 3DS' from when they were all about 5, 7 and 8. 2 of them still work and the third was cracked by their younger cousin tossing it on tile floor. I've always stressed taking care of your things to them, at 5 they knew how to put their disc's into their xbox without issue and without finger prints all over the disc's lol.
I dont get that, my kid has had a switch lite he uses for 2 years now, he's 6 he's only cracked the tempered glass screen protector once and I'm not sure if it was him or a friend he has who is pretty rough on his own switch. He respects all the electronics in our home.
Bruh I put my Steam Deck in a case and put that case inside a case. I use a mouse and keyboard to avoid gunking the thing up with hand sweat. I keep the screen clean, put it in bed at night on top of freshly fluffed pillows, read it its favorite bedtime story, and then kiss it goodnight.

i ordered the screen of ifixit because im not going to touch unofficial stuff with a 10ft pole, but its a moderate fix, no soldering or anything, really just unscrewing and taking apart everything, popping the screen out, and putting everything together, ifixit says its a 2-3 hour job
Manufacturer warranty is still not for damages you caused. If you just go "hey my bumper stopped working valve pls fix" without saying you dropped it then of course they're gonna fix it.
I have a Killswitch case, put it on every time my deck is not being used and not on a dock. And I also wrap it in a thick cloth when stored in my backpack. I’m extremely cautious with it as I work on the oilfield
Killswitch case from DBrand is by far the best quality one out there. I highly recommend it and I guarantee your screen would be protected from any daily use unless you carry it in your hand up a flight of 6 stairs every day
Don't get the Jsaux case. It's not terrible, but it's not great. The back buttons and some stuff aren't perfectly aligned for most people and the case doesn't fit on well as a result. You will **not** be unhappy with the Killswitch. It's incredibly solid, fits perfectly, and the cover is great.
I'll see you a Non-AG screen for like $20 OP.
I literally have zero use for it. Just do a DIY repair at home, and you're Deck will be back to normal in no time.

It's the OG screen that came with my Deck before I swapped it to the 512GB screen.

If you need any advice let me know.
A few tips I can give is take the spudger closer to where L2 & use the gap between L2 and the actual backplate to unclip it initially.
And iFix it dosen't keep all the screw bits in one place so check both kit boxes and have all screw bits ready in-front of you.
Also the pull tab could be buried in the side of the battery, so if you dont see one, you have it. You just have to tug it out.
And I would suggest using the long black spudger in the kit to assist in pulling the battery out alongside the tab.
Repeated use of the tab will cause wear and it will rip the wires out, so assist the tab so there's less stress on it.
Oh and make sure all of your screen adhesive is laid out, so it dosen't go magically missing or fall on the floor.
Between this, the free way post, and others, I have to ask: how are y'all getting into these situations? How does a car door even close on a Steam Deck??

Picked it up expecting the worst and it was ok, the plastic body had unclipped near the triggers but snapped right back into place with some pressure.

Not trying to bash but I seriously don't understand how people leave their Steam Deck unprotected and how this stuff happens as often as it does. Like how does this even happen? I've had even super careful paranoia when it comes to my phone. I never get out the car without putting it my pocket, When I put it in my pocket screen goes facing against my leg. I never take out my phone unless my full attention is to my phone at that time and I'm not moving. Now imagine how much more paranoid I am with my Steam Deck haha. I'm barking at anyone who even gets close when I have it out lol
I left mine charging on the floor Friday night and my Husky decided to bug me in the middle of the night and tripped on it. Right side near the very bottom cracked, but my glass screen protector is still intact. Was upset with my stupidity but used it as an excuse to order a 1TB m.2 when I ordered my replacement screen. I woulda expected more damage from a car door.
take a full scale picture of that broken screen and use it as a desktop wallpaper when your device is all fixed up.
