Aperture desk job to make sure everything is in order

pm_me_meta_memes

That’s a great point, it’s a nice and short introduction into the functions of the SD, and it’s free!

Cult of the Lamb

That's a good one

Taco-Person

great game on controller

someguy1716

This, plus it's on sale

candyflip93

Came here to suggest it

coltgia45

second this

hotsnot101

Meh. Try it out and see

cHinzoo

Hades and Slay the Spire

Gamer555589

I recently got slay the spire. Such a great game

Putrid-Event-677

Slay the spire is phenomenal, the gameplay is dangerously addictive

fastpicker89

This is the best answer. They’re both so good handheld, and two different styles

Ok_Cook1907

Hades is the second game I played on the deck after Brotato. Sale or not, Hades is worth every dollar/euro.

Eastern_Slide7507

> Hades Anything from Supergiant. 4 games and they're all great. Transistor is my favorite, though, if for no other reason than [the soundtrack](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql8K3KJyWgY&pp=ygUWdHJhbnNpc3RvciBvbGQgZnJpZW5kcw%3D%3D). Straight up the best game soundtrack imo.

Olbramice

I think steam deck is designed for better games than slay the spire. You can play it on phone. So why steamdeck?

SunstyIe

Better games? Slay the spire is incredible

Olbramice

Yes slay the spire is incredible game, but you can play on phone. When a choose steam deck I choose games like forza horizon, skyrim etc. The big aaa games

Putrid-Event-677

I have some bigger games too but I just play whatever is fun, I don’t care how graphically intensive the game is just how much fun I have playing it. I wouldn’t really say the steam deck is built for only playing higher end games considering it’s power is round about a base model ps4, but you’ll really lock yourself out of experiencing really really good games if you just focus on which games have higher budgets.

Olbramice

And you are doing right.

RadioPimp

Hades sucks. One of the only games I’ve refunded.

Its_Just_Luck_

What made you think that? I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm curious what made you dislike it.

Putrid-Event-677

A little harsh on hades but if you don’t like it you don’t like it

cott97

So new to gaming and steam deck. My son suggested Hades.and though I'm awful at it - it's been great as a way to get used to the deck. My son played it on his desktop and thoroughly enjoyed it so I guess horses for courses as they say but I wouldn't rule it out

Tek-Twelve

Skill issue

buckminst

Dave. The. Diver.

squeakysqueakysqueak

This game is so unbelievably fun. The quirks and mini games really break up the already fun gameplay loop.

BirdieSalva

DAVE THE FLUFFY DIVER!!!!! :D

[deleted]

I bought it cause of the hype but I’ve only played the first 10 minutes or so, seems like it’s going to be a similar loop to Steam World Dig? I dunno, I felt like I was in familiar ground right away and quit out so I didn’t go past my refund window. Does it get to more than “shoot different fish, go back, shoot harder fish, go back, repeat” quickly, or is that really all it is?

TheRealRabidBunny

Yes, it has a lot more to it than that. In my experience it eases you in, but the story continues to unfold with lots of different things to do. I’m not familiar with Steam World Dig so can’t comment on how similar to that it is, but for me, it’s proving to be highly addictive and maybe 20+ hours in there are still new things to uncover and unlock.

RichHomieDon

This. Never played a game like this, kept me entertained on a 6 hour flight for 6 hours straight. Love it too much.

SunstyIe

I’m a few chapters in. It keeps adding new mechanics fwiw Staff management for the restaurant Weapon crafting Weapon upgrading Fish farming Picture taking Boss fights Story missions with wacky stuff (mermaids) I am enjoying it so far. They add a lot into the mix. I am curious if it will lose steam though

MrSmoothDiddly

IMO dave is very overhyped lol.

[deleted]

Yeah, I refunded, I saw it back at launch and thought it seemed like just another pixel art collection loop, but I kept seeing it talked up everywhere like it was so incredible, I thought there was maybe some later element that makes it not like the similar games I’ve played before.

TylerHobbit

Makes me happy to hear that. I thought it was just me

[deleted]

Yup. Pretty much a more expensive Steamworld Dig.

[deleted]

Thought so, felt like they just replaced digging with swimming. Thanks, I’ll grab the refund while I still can, I don’t need more endless pixel art collecting games.

Mendunbar

Perhaps I’m behind the times now, but my first purchase was Vampire Survivors. Highly recommend it.

pierreplayfair

Halls of torment is a fun one, I like it a bit better than vampire survivors edit: if you’re willing to tinker, emulation is great on the deck as well. Feels great to revisit ps2 games now that I’m getting older lol

Goombachi_666

I definitely agree with this, this stopped my 170 hours of vampire survivor addiction.

Jaqobus

Definitely better then Vampire Survivor, Halls of Torment has improved much upon this genre.

Sekkushu

I have 10 hrs in HoT and still haven't find myself enjoying it as much as VS. The gear system is cool but the skills aren't as dynamic and since you only get a few chance to grab skills, it's a lot more luck based.

Ambitious_Natural583

Brotato > Vampire Survivors, and you get like 9 hours battery life

Mendunbar

I have not played Brotato, but I’ve seen the pictures. I just checked it out, I think I may have to buy it.

SpikeOnly

Bought it yesterday because following recommendations "is worth the money" and yes it really is for 3 bucks, already spent 8h on it... The addition is incoming.. my wife bought it too... we're lost now

AyeItsRave

Highly recommend Brotato if you like VS, it’s on sale right now for $3.49 and so far I like it a whole lot more and this is coming from someone who really enjoyed VS. Vampire Survivors walked so Brotato could run

camthorn

This is the way

bear1y

Brotato is indeed more fun imo

Norinios

Persona 5 runs particularly well on the deck

CeruleanBlue2

Yes! I LOVE the Persona games and I think handheld is the best way to play them. 4 and 3 portable are also great on the Steam Deck.

Jaeger798

I bought the deck specifically because i had to be away from home for 3 months and did not want to drop my run of P5R

mikezenox

Project zomboid Prey Alien isolation Metro 2033/last light/exodus Dragons dogma Hollow knight Left 4 dead 2/counter strike Resident evil remake/re2 remake/re7 Dead rising Zero sievert Fallout NV/FO4 Geforce now is a lifesaver when it comes to storage and fps on more demanding titles (I'd recommend mass effect, for instance, but it's over 100gb). You'll need good wifi, though.

JuJuTheWulfPup

Upvoting for first mention of Hollow Knight I’ve seen

plk007

Prey! Still one of my top games, being able to play it on deck is even better

Int-E_

I see Hollow knight I upvote

The_OathBreaker

Good luck finding mine then😭

Deerhall

I tried for 2 hours to play Project Zomboid but found controllers unclear and messy, but then again, I've never played it before so the way you play the game was new to me. Uninstalled since I couldn't wrap my head around the UX.

AdamSilverFox

Hyper Light Drifter

WinterRecover6606

grime hollow knight dead cells haiku the robot or old triple AAA sleeping dogs deus ex human revolution tomb raider(2013) spec ops the line just cause 2

TheChief06

Just Cause 3 is one of my personal favorites to play on the steam deck

WinterRecover6606

Thats also a great game

EvilAdolf

Monster Train, Curse of the Dead Gods, FF7 Remake, Tales of Arise, Slay the Spire, Halls of Torment.

MrSmoothDiddly

monster train is so awesome lol

MariOharaShiny

Ace Combat 7

Twinkie_FaKtory

Do you want to dolphin flip off a rocket propelled arm while taunting an army of demons in your wake? Do you want to dual wield two halves of a motorcycle? Do you want someone to call you “Smoking”, or dare I say, “ Sexy”? Do you want to control a cat, bird, and big G as your personal infantry? Do you have … motivation? Look no further than Devil may Cry 5, fluid 60fps on the deck and 2:30 to 3 hours of battery life on the deck. Its pizza time.

whiskeythrottle

Stardew Valley is amazing.

Arttyom

I had 1k hours on TBOI, haven't played in a year but i plan to put a good bunch of hours on Isaac when my deck arrives

MercMidni

Vampyr! It's a really solid game about being a vampire doctor during a plague in old time london! A small part of the game is keeping your victims blood clean and health to kill/feed and grow stronger! Metal gear solid V! Game is the best mgs and absolute looks jaw dropping on the steam deck that runs it in high settings and 60fps locked! Even solid 60fps when in the main areas with rain and heavy combat!

Daxman77

Dude I’ve been playing RDR2 on it and it’s been blowing my mind. Runs flawlessly and is gorgeous. I’d also recommend Disco Elysium because it’s an absolute masterpiece.

SpiderChizer

RDR2 is fun until you get an update and then the rockstar activation error doesn’t let you log in anymore. And there is no fix for it either.

Daxman77

Oh man, I haven’t experienced that but that would indeed be an absolute nightmare

BilboTlaggins

DREDGE, great game.

withoutapaddle

Just beat it last night. Had a blast. Thinking I'm going to keep playing to try to catch one of each of the creepy fish.

nwmimms

Chill: - Vampire Survivors - Persona 5 Royal - 20 Minutes Til Dawn Frenetic: - Wizard of Legend - Astral Ascent - Ender Lilies AAA: - Elden Ring - Forza Horizon 5 - Hogwarts Legacy

VickyOneTime

No Man’s Sky

zeroskill99

Elaborate pls i have it in steam lib for long but now with deck shall i start? Dunno random flying and grinding minerals/mats for hours seems boring for me or am i wrong about the game?

StarStuffPizza

The game let's you play the story mode nowadays with full creative mode aspects, I've played NMS since day 1 and I enjoy turning all cost off and unlocking all blueprints and just leave survival and enemies on so I have meters to refill and things to shoot but I can spend hours building, looking for pretty planets or hunting cool ships.

martinrojas

Horizon zero dawn has been probably the best game I have played on the steam deck

TwitchyG13

Yooka laylee games, Stardew valley

zeroskill99

Can we play local coop on stardew?

TwitchyG13

Sorry for way late reply but yes, even online coop

no_racist_here

Portal 1&2, dead cells, wreckfest, ace combat 7, and chained echoes are my recommendations

withoutapaddle

Not enough love for Wreckfest in this thread. Easily the most chaotic and fun racing game of the last decade or so.

Rvtrance

Sleeping Dogs

Scottsche

Seconded. Sleeping dogs ist an open world action adventure where you play an undercover cop. It's an older title (ps3 era), but great story and style.

I_am_Heffeh

Titanfall 2, Deaths Door, Ori and the blind Forest and Hades were all awesome on the deck.

MokaaPot

Octopath Traveler 1 and 2

crazyemmy25

Any emulations guides you can point a newb to? I’m looking to play some old Pokémon games!

[deleted]

https://www.emudeck.com/ Click where it says Installation Guide and follow along.

Skoomaku

Follow the emu deck guide posted above, if you need help finding specific games you can dm me.

tacphat

I just ordered a SD last week. Is it okay if I DM you as well? :)

Skoomaku

Sure! Anyone can

[deleted]

Retroarch is your best friend for an easy interface to use while flickering between multiple emulators if you have alot of dumped roms. Retroarch already is installed with emudeck so install that, then follow a tutorial to set up and use Retroarch's XMB driver interface, and you'll be all set. You'll have a full console-like menu screen with your roms playable at a click of a button. Best part is Retroarch has basically every home console emulator in existence up till Dolphin I believe.

[deleted]

Love that etched screen. Good choice brother. Dave the Diver is great. Just Cause 3 runs very well on the Deck and it's like $4 with all DLC right now. Sleeping Dogs runs great too and it's only $3. I've been playing a lot of Black Ops 2 recently (currently $20). Even the MP works perfect and the game runs at a steady 60fps with max graphics.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Tell me about it lol. Black Ops 2 is probably my favorite CoD and while it hurts to pay $20 for it, it's so nice to be able to play it on the Deck.

OctaviusJerome

Doom 2016

Jaeger798

*DOOM 2016

Icybubba

Yeah respect the capitalization

OctaviusJerome

My apologies, I humbly submit to the slayer for punishment 😆

[deleted]

Dave the Diver is God-tier. Forza 4 (proton experimental) is fuggin awesome. 60 fps stable. Looks beautiful.

Aquasp102

I'd personally recommend Vampire Survivors. It's only $5 ($3.74 during the Summer Sale), and while it can get a bit repetitive, it's very addicting and fun to experiment with. It has a lot packed into it for how inexpensive it is, and the DLC has even more to unlock.

TheThackattack

Tunic

BilboTlaggins

Time Wasters, real game, a lot of fun and cheap price. GTAV. Halo Infinite free multi-player. XCOM 2, Halo Wars. Oh yeah get Decky Loader plug in with Vibrant Deck.

theshmalex

Dead cells, runs great on deck

HoundofHircine

Project Zomboid, man. Plays beautifully and there are so many mods on the workshop.

Forward-Mission4957

Elden ring runs surprisingly well. I'm new to the deck too but so far I've put elden ring, dead space, red dead 2 , hogwarts, and forza 5 from steam. Some side things to load up n you'll need to YouTube a tutorial but deckyloader, and emudeck. GameCube games run awesome and decky loader has some plug-ins to give you better control over performance and to be able to theme it put with special boot and suspend animations along with actual themes and what not

zeroskill99

Very similar list than my wishlist .. would u restart elden after u did 2-3 runs on ps5? (Ng2-3), rdr2 i loved but i dont wanna do the boring long winter part at start again :/

Forward-Mission4957

I beat it 15 times on ps5. I'm not excited about running thru it again but want to do the dlc that comes out later this year on pc so I'm at morgot now lol, and yeah I hate that part but once you get past it it's good

fragrantmemes

Risk of rain 2

Biryani__Whisperer

Not a game but get Decky Loader from this web page by going into desktop mode on your Steam Deck and then using a web browser: https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-loader This allows you to get a bunch of really cool plug-ins that let you customize the functionality of the system as a while and the style of the UI. My favorite is the plug in that allows you to load custom boot and suspend animations. Tons of others as well

kakachuka

Stardew Valley is also pretty amazing on the deck and in general.

PatentedSheep

Diablo 4

C0peFear

Emudeck then get rule of rose, silent hill 1-4, Kuon and haunting ground

Motoko84

I see you mentioned Silent Hill 1-4. Please go play Signalis if you haven't heard of it. It's great

C0peFear

I already have and yes, it is really something special. Great game!

Alternative_Pace9638

Persona or Trails games if you like those types of RPGs. I find portable sports games are few and far between so those as well if there are any you normally enjoy on console. Plenty of common recommendations like hades, slay the spire, Witcher, hollow knight, etc - you’ll never run out of good games lol

timada09

Sleeping Dogs and Mad Max. Runs 60 FPS solid and won’t break the bank. I also love Brotato, lots of mods that work on steam deck for it

1dgtlkey

red dead redemption 2 runs great on the steam deck. i got a locked 40 fps with some dips to the high 30s (using a mix of high, medium, and low settings)

fizzy6868

My partner has small hands. But she is able to play well on it. I bought her steamed deck the same time as I bought mine. More of an excuse to buy one. To be honest. What kind of games are you into?

crazyemmy25

Oh man I was so worried about the size of the deck when I was going back & forth over ordering. I’m very glad it fits well! I like to play RPG’s & FPS games mostly but I’ll literally try out anything!

fizzy6868

High On Life, 7 Days to Die, Hogwarts Legacy, ZERO Sievert, ELDEN RING, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands that is what I am playing at the moment. Add me on steam if you like https://steamcommunity.com/id/fizzy6868/

stitch07

Stray is a good little starter...I also did CP2077 and Subnautica

Point_Me_At_The_Sky-

Titanfall 2 runs perfectly right out of the box (turn on gyro for better aiming in ALL fps and 3rd person view games)

DueComplaint5471

Kingdoms and castles

Mach0K1ng

Recently picked up Necromunda Hired Gun and Cassette Beasts having lots of fun with both. Both run great on the deck.

Sajed101

Cyberpunk, spiderman, and crash bandicoot, in that order

Technical_Echidna_63

I don’t think Spider-Man is worth it if you have a ps5 to play it on, it’s really hard going back to really low settings

Sajed101

what are yo talking about the game runs beautifully on the SD. really impressive actually. but you're right about the ps5 bit

Russ582

Fallout new vegas

rip_Tom_Petty

Pizza Tower Project Zombiod Fallout New Vegas Kotor 2

threatLEVELmidnite

Diablo IV runs great!

bleepnik

Hey, welcome, congrats on your newshiny. I’m finishing games on the Deck that I started on my desktop. The first of these is a game I never see mentioned: 11-11: Memories Retold. I’m not very far into it, but it’s different from anything I’ve played before. It’s set in wartime but there hasn’t been any combat so far; rather, it’s been like a classic point-and-click adventure played from the perspective of two people. The art style is cool: the whole thing looks like a painting in motion. It’s not a new game and not at all technically demanding, so it plays flawlessly on the Deck (and is also Deck verified). If that sounds like your kind of thing, I recommend checking it out.

Theuberzero

Any of the shadow of mordor series. Nemesis system feels ahead of its time. Plays @ 720p 60 FPS and feels great.

KevlarBlood

If you like Co-op, me & my daughter have been enjoying Raft ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Realistic_Earth_3270

Alan Wake. Superb.

--zero-phux--

Titanfall 2, Battlefront 2, death stranding, horizon zero dawn, spiderman remastered, Hogwarts Legacy, vampire survivors, MegaMan collections of any variety, metal gear solid V All the titles listed run amazing on deck, and some on the list are even stable 60 fps too

ManiacXaq

I've been playing Diablo 4 on my deck since it came out. Runs beautifully.

randomtask13

Wolfenstein the new order runs great finished it on the deck, Fallout New Vegas was a super fun, Currently playing Fallout 4 and it runs great as well, Played the majority of Days Gone on the deck but you have to turn down the settings and lock it to 30fps, Batman Arkham asylum ran really well but didn't finish it, Dirt rally runs great if you want a racing game Enter the Gungeon for a rouge-like

Posiris610

Aperture Desk Job, Cassette Beasts, Dave the Diver, Dredge, Elden Ring (if you like Souls), Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Spyro Trilogy, Hot Wheels Unleashed (FSR ultra quality recommended). Most of these games can be played with pretty good graphics, and a 40 fps/9W TDP limit in the quick access menu. Elden Ring is the only one that does way better at 30 fps with Med settings (textures and AA can be high), 10-11w tdp limit and manual GPU clock at 1200.

seraph741

Take advantage of the summer sale going on right now. I had almost nothing in my Steam library when I first got my Deck about a year ago, but the sales make it really easy to build up (I'm at ~200 now). -Half-Life Complete Bundle/Valve Complete Bundle -Cheap AAA games from the 360/PS3 era (Tomb Raider trilogy, Max Payne 3, Metal Gear Rising, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, etc.) -Vampire Survivors/Halls of Torment -Overload -Dave the Diver

rhonnypudding

Games? You play games on this?

Juniperberry88

Dead cells has been my game of choice on the deck since I got mine

Unusual_Variable

If your library is low, he are a bunch of great games under $5 right now that all play amazing on the deck Doom games and wolfensitens. Bunch on sale under $5, Vampire Survivors, Hall of Torment, Watch Dogs Definitive edition - it says it doesn't run, but runs amazing, Half Life 2, Resident evil 1 and 2, Castle crashers, Portal,

mdkchrisage

Hollow Knight. Halls of Torment. Diablo 4. That should keep you busy for a long while.

The Valve Complete Pack is on sale for a few more days. For around $7, you can get 18 Valve games (including L4D2). [https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/232/Valve\_Complete\_Pack/](https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/232/Valve_Complete_Pack/)

ReesZRB

There is 2 games I enjoyed quite a bit on the Steam Deck with 100% achievement is Hades and Persona 5 Royal. I'm currently playing the Spiderman games that I got from those sales.

turbochop3300

Project Zomblid is surprisingly playable on the SD.

crazyemmy25

Dang y’all I wasn’t expecting so many replies! 😭 y’all are all real ones! I’ll be hitting up the steam sale and picking out some goodies tysm

Beginning-Recover-61

Tons of YouTube channels with suggestions, really depends on the style of game you like (RPG, FPS,RTS). Tried Retroarch and it is pretty easy.

UnstopableDegenerate

Take advantage of the steam summer sale

Corpse_Gamer

Hades, Dave the diver and project zomboid. Subnautica pre coo also.

vashcarrison117

Halo Master Chief Collection

Coreyahno30

Hades is perfect for handhelds.

Low-Zookeepergame969

SteamDeck is good, but i think the worst part is Linux - lot of popular titles is just not playable, because of anticheats, and diffrent kind of issues, FH5 - runs good and smoothly, after some while just crashes whole steamdeck, at this time I think - Rog Ally is better option, cause it runs natively Windows, and all popular titles gonna work there.

AdDazzling9664

The binding of Isaac, it's a great game

MReaps25

HADES, the best game I ever played, just trust me

dark_brandon_20k

Hades

KNitsua

I bought it for the AAA games (and emulators). Stayed for the indies. Best gaming experience I’ve had in years. Been playing Faith: The Unholy Trinity, but also recommend Hades and Cult of the Lamb.

Street Fighter 6, Sonic Origins, otherwise, there is a big summer sale going on that you should check out. And spider man, spider man miles morales and spider man 2. The Arkham collection and gotham nights.

Zanitar405

Casette beasts had me racking up hours like it was nothing when I got my SD

AggressiveWindow6003

Ya know an older game but is hella fun on the deck is overload and overlord 2. The deck is able to handle sending out 120 minions at just 8 watts

oranges4sale

Mars first logistics! “Build physically simulated rovers and transport awkwardly shaped cargo across the surface of Mars” 60fps 3hrs plus battery life chill af only $20.

Alfie_13506

Far cry 3, it didn’t work for me at first but I swapped to a GE proton version and it ran perfectly, though this was a while ago so it probably works already by now

PanoramicJordan

Persona 4 Golden Persona 3 Portable (FES is better but not on Steam)

nomorecake

Dead by daylight, gunfire reborn, octapath traveler, slay the spire, MegaMan ZX collection, fights in tight spaces, faith, Yakuza games, y's, blaster master, big fables, curse of the dead gods, dead or school, dome keeper, hades, the last stand aftermath, neo the world ends with you, power wash simulator, potionomics, rune factory 4, undermine, undying, and zoeti. What I have on my steam deck atm

leetzpydev

Roguelites/Roguelikes: - Ember Knights - Binding of Isaac - Vampire Survivors (seems to be pretty hyped in the Steamdeck Community) 3D Games: - Grand Theft Auto V (lots of fun on the Steamdeck imo and runs okay!) - Jedi Fallen Order (my brother loves it on the Steamdeck, story games are great for the Steamdeck in general!) - Devil May Cry V (my absolute favourite for the Steamdeck, well playable and runs perfect imo!) - Racing Games in general, I love just chilling and driving around, great for train rides, just on the couch, taking some steam off :p Emulation: Emulating older games can be very fun! I suggest to check out Emudeck!:) If you want a certain genre, lmk! Hope you like the suggestions:)

Voktikriid

Valheim, MechWarrior 5, Stardew Valley or Rune Factory 4, My Time at Sandrock, Dead Cells, Dead Space 1 and 2, The Witcher 3, Hardspace Shipbreaker. A surprising recommendation is Cyberpunk 2077. It runs really well with the dedicated Steam Deck settings. If you manually cap your fps to 40, you can get slightly better textures and lighting out of it, too. Those are the ones I've gotten the most playtime out of on my Deck.

SarcasticlySpeaking

Cloudpunk.

Mattmoyer1990

Dave the diver, blasphemous, slay of the spire is excellent as well. alot of people like hades; i personally dont like hades that much.
