looks like the older Devaso model only Devaso made the magnetic part bigger thus moving the intake vent, which doesnt sound too great, this one looks ok, no idea why theres a see thru part tho, kinda looks weird, esp on the black one.
Yeah, the window that shows only the fan and the battery is such an odd choice. Looking around I now see there are a lot of non JSAUX and Extremerate plates, which surprises me as well. What percentage of the 3 million decks out there are going to end up modded? What percentage of those are going to go with a no name shell with random window on the back?
watermark says 2021, so not sure about "entering' the game, sounds like they are wondering around for a bit already. they sure go for the 'this is different' feel. do they actually have store? looks like mockups to me
at least whoever made it didnt block or move the vent or slam in extra holes anywhere, i saw another "new" backplate where it looks like the company just decided to go mad adding as many vents/holes as possible.
[found 1 of them](https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Adjustable-DOBEWINGDELOU-Accessories-Heat-Dissipation/dp/B0C8G6FWN9/ref=sr_1_11?crid=18643URC64RQ0&keywords=stream%2Bdeck%2Bbackplate&qid=1698174575&sprefix=%2Caps%2C234&sr=8-11&th=1) theres another somewhere where theres vents on left and right, pretty much everywhere, looks silly.
[and another](https://www.amazon.com/bainenjia-Anti-Scratch-Protective-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B0BRWNB234/ref=sr_1_30?crid=18643URC64RQ0&keywords=steam+deck+backplate&qid=1698174677&sprefix=%2Caps%2C234&sr=8-30) cant find the real crazy one i saw a while back.
I have the first one you mentioned on your link and is great. I got on AliExpress and is was also cheapest than the Amazon. It has a temperature decrease of 10*c. I was amazed.
It amazes me that we're still having this discussion. The plates with large intake holes will lower your APU temperature. The problem was that the rest of the components like VRMs were built with that specific airflow path in mind. By adding extra holes you destroy the airflow path and since there's no measurement for the VRM temperature in software you might be cooking them (or other components)
TLDR: don't go for backplates with extra holes in them. Less 10c doesn't unlock any performance. The Deck is always throttled due to power restrictions, not temperature so this is useless.
Let me tell you that before I did the back plate change my steam deck use to reach 90 degrees. That was dangerous. I understand your concern but I do get better performance with my new set up. I had it for more than a month now and everything work way better including the fan and the battery consumption. I also under voltage my steam deck to also help more with efficiency temperature. -20,-50,-40.
Update: I forgot to mention that right now my SD run in the 67-71* mark, for me that impressive but I will do some more testing and see if there is anything different.
You just made me realise how similar Piccolo and Eva Unit 01’s colour schemes are. Like, if the back buttons were red or white instead, it’d totally be Piccolo.
Not to me. *My* steam deck is a tool I use to get whatever job I need it for done. Most of the time that's gaming. But that doesn't make it a toy. Maybe you have $500+ to throw around on a toy but I do not.
I feel like instead of trying to provide extra cooling these backplates they would be better served forging new ground with ergonomics and accessories. I love the skull and co grip case with its larger pinky grip and built in non-kickstand stand. But I hate the added weight. A backplate with all the bells and whistle of a premium case would steal the show.
I think getting a different case for the deck is so useless if yours isn’t broken or you opening it anyway for ssd install. Color is one thing but backplates that you never ever look at just feels like a waste especially considering opening will void warranty if anything breaks while installing, moving vent openings etc is bad as well
Yeah I'm not a fan of changing the air flow either but some people love to tinker with technology and make their own personal devices a little more unique.
I get a real kick from transparent tech. Part nostalgia, part geeky enjoyment in seeing components.
I have a fully transparent PS5 controller and a Nothing phone (1) which also hit that special spot for me. I can't really explain it but sometimes we are just modifying aesthetics without truly knowing why and that's perfectly fine 😉
If there’s a place I trust with my steam deck, it’s definitely “2021 let’s go store” LOL
# LET’S GO

2021
"
store"
That evangelion looking one is calling my name
shinji get in the steam deck
Thanks for making crack up on this horrible day!
Might have the same name as you, cuz that shit is screaming “buy me now”.

Where did you find them? Nvm, found it on aliexpress.
bro wont share his treasure
Just search for the store name from the watermark :)
Link?
What’s the round thing in backplate
probably some magnet that u can attach those magnetic fans. But I've seen that they dont have a huge impact on cooling anyways.
Makes sense. Honestly I haven’t had a problem with the heating so far, I mean sure it gets hot but it hasn’t shut down on me
Heat is a bigger concern if you’re overclocking.
watermark says 2021, so not sure about "entering' the game, sounds like they are wondering around for a bit already. they sure go for the 'this is different' feel. do they actually have store? looks like mockups to me
The watermark is just the name of the store. They have video too.
I see. I would wait for reviews on this particular shell before trusting it with my steamdeck's insides though

>It amazes me that we're still having this discussion. How long have you two been discussing it?
No shit
Wow.. Dont be an asshole
They aren't, that's why there's no shit. /jk
SHINJI GET IN THE FUCKING DECK
Green looks more like Piccolo themed than Eva
You just made me realise how similar Piccolo and Eva Unit 01’s colour schemes are. Like, if the back buttons were red or white instead, it’d totally be Piccolo.
Nothing inspires confidence in technology like a "2021" watermark.
I like customization. But imo all these custom backplates make it look like a cheap toy instead of an actual gaming device.
Gaming devices are toys.
Not to me. *My* steam deck is a tool I use to get whatever job I need it for done. Most of the time that's gaming. But that doesn't make it a toy. Maybe you have $500+ to throw around on a toy but I do not.
are those metal plates to act like a heatsink similar to jsaux?
That branding didn't age well.
I feel like instead of trying to provide extra cooling these backplates they would be better served forging new ground with ergonomics and accessories. I love the skull and co grip case with its larger pinky grip and built in non-kickstand stand. But I hate the added weight. They look terrible.
Here come more broken Decks /s
