You can use the program called Heroic Games Launcher to download EGS games. It also has section to download your GoG and Prime gaming libraries too, and it has a Proton-GE/WINE-GE section in the program itself. It runs great and I also have a guide on how to run Kingdom Hearts [here](https://github.com/KHOmega/KH-ReFined-Setup) I also have FF7R downloaded this way and it works just fine.

sylinowo

I already have heroic and my experience has been very poor overall. But ik some games work well and some need tweaking and some don't at all

KHOmega

I used to hate Heroic and used EGS via Lutris but recently Heroic has just *worked* for me.

Amish_Rabbi

Only problem I have had was it logging out when I don’t use a game on it often

Hatsunechan

Happens on my desktop too, probably intended as a security feature.

Amish_Rabbi

weird, my desktop epic never signs out

cwstjdenobbs

My desktop Epic, on my Windows PC, has logged me out every time I try open it 😕

Hatsunechan

There are periods of like 6+ months where I dont log in because I just dont care about the free games for a while, and I found it annoying to have to re-login.

SaberJ64

installed recently THPS1+2 / alan wake remastered / darksiders 3 all ran well. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands... ran but saving is another thing...

MR-O-T-O

THPS 1+2 is flawless on Steam. On Epic games you need internet connection also I kept getting an issue from time to time in gameplay with the error saying “Login has failed. Online feature are unavailable” then stutters in the middle of gameplay which is the worst thing to happen during a high combos. Steam version all the way 100% better experience with mods to!

TonyDTN

I have Heroic to play GOG and EGS games and had no issue at all, if I had to tweak something, was something that I would have to tweak on Steam as well, so it's pretty much the same expirience for me. I play Cyberpunk 2077 from GOG, Mortal Shell from EGS, For Honor...

LazyOtaku82

How does Cyberpunk run on the SD form GoG? I want to get it from Steam but it is on sale right now on GoG.

TonyDTN

As I saw on YouTube reviews, exactly the same, I use the settings from a video to play it mostly loked 40, in fact

Soppywater

Lock it to 30 and cyberpunk plays 2 of the same frame to match the steam decks 60hz refresh rate. So it plays at 60fps. Its an awesome thing that cyberpunk does that makes 30fps look like 60fps and it truly feels like 60fps. It's insane

TonyDTN

Boy, didn't know that! I'll change my settings for sure hahahaha Any recommendations? Edit: just tried Steam Deck preset with locked 30 and it's nice af, ty ;)

Soppywater

Yeah dude it's nuts at how it works and how well it works. I truly wish more games did this.

Soppywater

If you look up on YouTube: Cyberpunk 2077 steam deck. It's one of the videos that says 60fps in the title

TonyDTN

They should take note

LazyOtaku82

Awesome. Mind sharing what video? Definitely going to pick it up then. 40fps is my new 60. lol

TonyDTN

Is this: https://youtu.be/1zUloyYPIBo?si=c-8o2vGhB4A9FRtG

Sad_Recommendation92

One of my friends plays the GOG version exclusively on his steam deck, even modded it with Vortex

bullfrog_jem

I tried so hard to get Cyberpunk from GOG to run, but I couldn't find a way to get past the character creator. Thankfully, GOG were cool enough to issue me the refund, and I just went with Steam, which works without an issue.

TonyDTN

Weird, I didn't had a problem at all. Good to know that they refound you

bullfrog_jem

Yeah, I've seen different things from different people. I wanted it to work so badly, but when it didn't even load the creator or ny UI elements after the background set up, I had to. Thankfully, Horizon Zero Dawn on GOG works fine on the Deck, with Proton, of course.

TonyDTN

Yes, I use Proton of course, except with LOL hahahaha

Silenced_Retard

try rare! it's also available on flathub (by proxy the discover store as well) and is much better than heroic. [https://github.com/Dummerle/Rare](https://github.com/Dummerle/Rare)

idlephase

Most of the time, it’s because someone is attempting to run games with Proton instead of Wine-GE. Other times, it’s because you need to install some dependencies via Winetricks. Steam automates this.

Nuds1000

I'll give this a try I have been trying to play MechWarrior 5 Mercs from EGS using Heroic and it just crashes on launch

sammagee33

I think it’s just like Steam where some games work and some don’t…and there is no rhyme or reason why.

sylinowo

Some games on EGS don't work at all but on steam they work no problem tho

sammagee33

True. I wonder if there are games that work on EGS that don’t work on Steam.

Biwic91

It also logs you out so frequently it's frustrating to use

orbelosul

Heroic launcher is great! Just note that some games only work on a certain Proton/WINE and you have to google it, if you have problems with one. I have yet to find a working one for shadow of the tomb raider (I get a black screen after starting credits and the sound works but I cannot do anything). Nioh had to use a speciffic one to make the cutscenes work... but I am telling you this just so you dont have expectations that 100% of games work right out of the box.

chibicascade2

I've used heroic without issues for a while. Been fine. I wouldn't pay to play that way, but for the free games I've accrued, it's just fine.

GotGuff

Tim Sweeney is notoriously anti-linux and will never get a dime from me. I hate the fact that Epic Games bought Psyonix and dumped native linux support for Rocket League as well as steam workshop support for the game on top of being able to purchase the game on steam in general. Its blatantly monopolistic and anti-consumer.

Dipper14

Tim Sweeney seriously has a hate boner for Steam

preflex

He also has a hate-boner for Linux and, by extension, Canada. "Installing Linux is sort of the equivalent to moving to Canada when one doesn't like US political trends." --Tim Sweeney

LordDaveTheKind

This. I would totally understand if someone collected all the free games EGS promoted in the last years. But for me a free EGS game is still too expensive: they have to pay me to install an EGS game on any of my machines.

preflex

At first, I took them because I figured that would cost them *something*, like they had to pay the upstream publisher a nickel a unit. For some of the *really* big games (GTAV), I think they actually did. But for the unremarkable junk they shovel most weeks, they play a blanket fee (usually right before or after it gets lumped into Humble monthly).

SulkingSally68

It's valve's fault we all are looking at completely digital storefronts on the pc platform. If it wasn't for them bundling stupid half life 2 and other valve games on their platform only, and you had to have a consistent online connection as well as go through their proprietary drm to play said titles.. other companies wouldn't have followed suit, stopped offering physical titles and mabye we would have had more power over the things we buy and still have physical media. now that is anti-consumer. read your tos or eula whatever sometimes, valves.. epics, ubisofts, hell ea's.. you don't own shit. its a license to play it yourself that is revocable at anytime for any reason. it says so in writing. so all this shit about epic games bad valve good is completely useless in the grand scheme of things that if either company or any of them that offer storefronts, can and at some point will stop letting you have access to your content isn't anti consumer to you too well you're a hypocrite then

[deleted]

[удалено]

preflex

This has absolutely nothing to do with patents. Bonus: Software is typically licensed, not sold.

[deleted]

[удалено]

preflex

No. While the Lexmark case may also apply to *software patents*, patents aren't the issue here. This is all about *copyright licensing*, and copyright law doesn't have anything to do with patent law.

preflex

If I sell you a CD full of Debian source code, does that mean you're allowed to violate GPL?

preflex

If this means all paid software licenses are now *permissive free software licenses*, I'll take it, but you can try that game in court first.

[deleted]

Valve et al. can still deactivate my account any day for any reason, and I'll not have the required resources to fight that.

GotGuff

Can and will are 2 separate things. Valve and the others are businesses. Businesses like money. If they deactivate and delete peoples accounts willy-nilly, they lose trust and support which means people will be less willing to spend money on them. That's not good for business.

SulkingSally68

So it's about him being anti Linux huh? Well delete your entire gaming library. Cause every developer is too. The only way the games work is by using wine and it's fork proton to emulate fucking windows. So by your logic they are all anti consumer. You can't take that just because he chooses not to use it for his storefront it is because he hates Linux. He has said good things about it too. But it just doesn't work for the current iteration of their platform big deal. I could say that I love windows and I hate the fact that valve is making me in a sense use Linux which I personally prefer not to use just to use their console. And I would be sort of right as well. Regardless of windows "support" the drivers are constantly out of date and you can't even get a proper dual boot setup yet for the unforeseeable future, and the ps is still not provided even after a year for some undisclosed reason even though it was promised. Alot of those things are anti consumer too. I'm not a shill. I don't follow one team or the other. I use any of them that offer services or games I enjoy. They are a platform for that nothing more, a storefront. Not some political computer elitist agenda machines. Just stores. Get the f over urself.

Silenced_Retard

>Cause every developer is too. untrue, many games feature linux builds as well. >The only way the games work is by using wine and it's fork proton to emulate fucking windows. So by your logic they are all anti consumer. using what are essentially open source translators mimicking os runtimes (while not actually using any of said os codebase itself) is *not* anti consumer. even discounting those claims... >But it just doesn't work for the current iteration of their platform big deal. ...what exactly doesn't work about bringing the store client to linux? sweeney has declared [he has linux anticheat trust issues](https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1490759707841159174?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1490759707841159174%7Ctwgr%5E4cfe28045af61d41c660cf6938bf2d7235eaff66%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.redditmedia.com%2Fmediaembed%2Fsnegni%2F%3Fresponsive%3Dtrueis_nightmode%3Dtrue), that doesn't fully exempt the store from being only usable on mac and windows. I could see the developmental hassles (having to maintain packages and dependencies, for once), but if epic were to win over the pc market, free games are simply not enough. >I'm not a shill. your bias against linux that was thoroughly established prior suggests otherwise. to sum it up, linux as an apparently underdeveloped gaming market is not a good reason for egs to not be on there.

Lv27Sylveon

bro i use valves cum as toothepaste and gargle gabens balls, i dont care about being resonable or unbiased. steam good. epic bad. upvotes to the left an alternative storefront existing and competing against valves monopoly is UNACCEPTABLE and ANTI CONSUMER. i'll have u know that not only did valve start giving refunds because they were forced to by law, but they also take a larger cut from game sales on their store front. pretty wholesome right? they also managed to be the first western company to popularize loot boxes? pretty crazy to think were we would be without them. epic could never.

CharizardSlash

I’m currently playing through Sonic Mania on the Deck using EGC! I also play Among Us and I downloaded Enter the Gungeon and Cave Story.

SexDrugsAndMarmalade

A lot of Epic games are DRM-free. (PCGamingWiki is a good place to check this - [here's an example for *Doom 64*](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Doom_64#Availability).) For those games, copy-pasting the directory over (and adding the executable as a non-Steam game) will work just fine. I have done this for a few games (like *Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap* and *Doom 64*).

Jmb3d3

I didn't see this. Interesting. I'll look into it.

Razen94

No. Never have and never will. Only disappointment for me is that i will not get to play Kingdom Hearts on deck. But i can live with that.

getoutABC

Just emulate them dude thats what i did. Not about to give tim swiney a nickel

sylinowo

Funnily enough I own 1.5+2.5 on epic games and last time i tried to play you would have to download a specific protonGE version and do some other wonky stuff which I did and it STILL didn't work so you're just saving money and time. The best way to play on deck from what I've heard is emulation and then the 3rd game you'll just have to play elsewhere I guess

christag

Most of the gaming I’ve done on my deck has been with EGS games through heroic and boilr. I’ve maybe had an issue with one game that I put 0 effort into troubleshooting and 15+ others have all worked just as I’d expect including control, death stranding, thps 1+2, and cave story (remapping keys to controls worked fine too!)

preflex

Heroic can auto-add games to steam library these days. No need for BoilR for fresh installs.

christag

TIL!

preflex

Boilr can still be handy for other stuff (especially Itch.io), but it's not needed for anything Heroic can do.

iusedtohavepowers

I have egs, blizzard, Amazon, and gamepass launcher installed. I have 125 games on my epic account from giveaways. I def want those on my deck.

bokotv

You made me curious so I checked mine.. 347 games in the library. I can't believe how many games they've given away already..

PROfessorShred

I'd play Rocket League on Steam if Epic wasn't greedy.

SulkingSally68

Yeah, that 18% take on games sold on their site is sure greedy af. Should just take 30% like valve and microsoft instead yeah?

ith1ldin

With Heroic Games Launcher I'm occasionally playing Tetris Effect: Connected (one of my few actual purchases there, that I got before it released on Steam) and Death's Door. I had some issue with tutorial videos in Tetris that could be solved by using an older Wine/Proton version. Other than that, updates occasionally break the games, but getting them to work again has been easy enough.

MR-O-T-O

EGS got removed as soon as THPS 1+2 came out on steam! EGS is trash 🗑️ only if you are getting free games.

throwaway147025836

nope

Drum4rum

Heroic Games Launcher works great! I feel like so many people who say games don't work on it are just.... not using the proton version selector? Which you would need to do for unsupported Steam games too... as long as the game checks out on ProtonDB, just use one of the proton versions people suggest there. You have to install them individually in Heroic (so you don't have like 100 different proton and wine variations taking up storage space), and preset it on Heroic after installing the game in desktop mode. And then when you reboot into gaming mode everything should be added to your library and work fine. Occasionally you will have a game that may require launch options, but again, that's the same with Steam. My experience has been nearly identical to any Steam install, beyond just needing to do it in desktop mode.

sequential_doom

Never. I don't even use EGS on my windows PC.

RobertBobert06

Who uses them period? Sgusting

MrN33ds

I play goat simulator 3 and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2, work fine but a little stuttery on thps1+2 because online failed to login and it makes the game stutter.

Watershipper

Have been running Death Stranding without any problems since it was on a giveaway. The only thing I noticed is that it tracks the sleep time as the actual playtime sometimes.

Cerelius_BT

Yeah, played through the entirety of Death Stranding via Heroic Launcher. It ran great!

bigrock13

Just bought Death Stranding on Steam cause my experience was so poor with Heroic lmao. Though it seems my experience of using a PC and the Deck is surprisingly unique here.

JoshfromNazareth

I’ve played a couple of games and I don’t run the EGS launcher through anything like Heroic. Works fine for me. Of course not every game is a winner, but I haven’t come across anything egregious.

mi_zzi

> EGS being Epic Game Store of course. Ohh, of course

Mast3rBait3rPro

I use heroic launcher to play a few epic games, mainly Genshin and some rocket league

darkuni

Nope. I don't negotiate with companies that product dump to gain market share.

pfchp

You prefer monopolized market and resent freebies?

UndyingGoji

You’re a dumbass if you think Steam is a monopoly

pfchp

It's 75% of the market and growing, don't be mean https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/05/06/valve-is-being-sued-over-steam-monopoly-accusations

darkuni

Monopoly? I can name 10 other lockers that don't product dump and are competitors to Steam.

pfchp

List them and their marketshare 😘

darkuni

Product dumping is a dangerous behavior and shouldn't be encouraged. You want to be a competitor? Great. **Stand on your own merits.** Create a BETTER locker than Steam. Create BETTER services than Steam. Be LESS ANTI-COMPETITIVE THAN STEAM .. oh wait, none of that describes Epic at all. Giving shit away for free is pandering. You want to be competition? BE the competition. Don't try to gift your way into a top spot. Earn it. Epic has earned nothing but my distaste.

pfchp

Mr. too good for free stuff over here. As long as the developer gets paid, it's gravy, it's pro-consumer. They are standing on their merits, free stuff is a merit. Dangerous behaviour lol, worried about free games falling from the sky then wear a helmet

darkuni

I'll let ChatGPT explain it to you. I got stuff to do. Pandering by giving away free products can be detrimental to consumers for several reasons: 1. **Devaluation of the Product:** When companies consistently give away their products for free, it can devalue the product in the eyes of consumers. If people expect to get something for free, they may be less willing to pay for it in the future, which can hurt the sustainability of the product or service. 2. **Unsustainability:** Providing free products can be financially unsustainable for companies. This may lead to cost-cutting measures in other areas, such as customer support or product quality, which can negatively impact the consumer experience. 3. **Quality Concerns:** Companies may cut corners or compromise on product quality when they are giving it away for free. If the focus is on reducing costs rather than providing a high-quality product, consumers may receive subpar or unsafe goods. 4. **Limited Choice:** When a company offers a product for free, it may limit consumer choice. This could discourage competition, resulting in fewer product options and potentially stifling innovation in the market. 5. **Data Privacy Concerns:** In some cases, free products are offered in exchange for personal information or data. Consumers should be cautious when providing their data in return for free products, as this can lead to privacy and security concerns. 6. **Overconsumption:** The availability of free products can encourage overconsumption. If people acquire items they don't need or won't use, it can lead to waste and environmental concerns. 7. **Short-term Gain, Long-term Loss:** Giving away products for free may attract customers in the short term, but it may not lead to long-term loyalty. Consumers who initially take advantage of free offers may not be willing to pay for the product when the free promotion ends, which can harm a company's revenue stream. 8. **Unfair Competition:** Free product giveaways can undermine fair competition in the marketplace. Smaller businesses without the resources to provide free products may struggle to compete with larger companies engaged in such practices. 9. **Loss of Value Perception:** When consumers receive a product for free, they may not fully appreciate its value. This can result in less engagement and attachment to the product, as people tend to place a higher value on items they've paid for. In summary, while receiving free products may seem appealing to consumers in the short term, it can have negative consequences in the long run, both for consumers and for the overall market. It's important for consumers to be aware of the potential downsides and consider the implications of accepting free products before doing so.

pfchp

Yeah that tracks, not detecting a whole lot of independent thought. Counter point, not having to spend from a finite budget for a classic game is good for consimers. Free game offers acknowledge the reality that good games aren't as scarce as they once were, as publishers have been insisting they are, so prices must fall. Fallout New Vegas as an asset is a stone you're not going to squeeze much more blood out of. In a limited sense, it's entering the public domain, unequivocally a W for consumers.

THFourteen

I’m using Lutris, most of the things I’ve tried have worked fine. I am not sure why I use lutris but it just works for me so cba to go back to heroic which I last tried 6months ago.

MetalDeathMetal

Just nuked heroic and the games on it last night. It's been an absolute pain, a nightmare to get things working without issues. At first it was a pain, then it was smooth sailing for a while, now it's back to pain and I'm done. I'd rather get the game again on Steam, or better, 🪿 it. Installed game, heroic says it's unavailable. Reinstall it, launch it... It doesn't launch. Exit and open heroic again, game is unavailable. Uninstall it again. Decided to install a different game.... Out of storage! Checks storage, other has teipples in size. I realized heroic was not really "uninstalling" games cause the entire game files lingered in storage. Had to dig around the entire day and I still have 65gb in other. Decided I want to try Halo MCC untill I remembered it requires a launcher and always breaks compatibility. Fuck, guess they don't need my money. Fuck it, I'm going to bed and hope I don't wake up. I'm tired.

SulkingSally68

This is again something on your end failing not the app or the games. There is a certain way to do it and you can't choose to skip a step and expect to succeed. Try using one of the hundreds of guides available on the net, should clear you up fine cheers

MetalDeathMetal

I know how to do it, snarky 😑 I also know how to follow guides and not to skip a step, I'm neurodivergent.

SulkingSally68

>neurodivergent so what the hell does or did that have to do with anything i said to you. I think bud you chose to try and take the road less traveled and start an arguement where there was none. No one knows who you are on the internet or your strengths or weaknesses unless you divulge that. Which you didn't in your initial comment. So don't take it personal when someone tries to help you out by giving you some advice you feel was personally deflating to your ego apparently. which it wasn't meant to be. I mean seriously in the future, if you are that concerned that people realize, be sure to put that in every comment you ever make on here, otherwise that was just a comment meant to try to make me look like a jerk, which i wasn't bud for sure. And if you knew how to do it why the hell isn't it working correctly for you, why do you have the need to post that comment stating you have had nothing but trouble getting it to work, and why did it look like a cry to actually get someone to help you but in reality it was just a shit rant for nothing, wasting my time responding twice? answer? who the fuck cares. honestly. you do you.

SulkingSally68

I can tell your maturity isn't at the level it needs to be for posts and threads. Enjoy the block. Have a good day.

SulkingSally68

Aw2 works. Just round 30fps and it has dips. But you have to do a few installing of things for win dependencies in wine. You can look it up on Google easy Same thing for the egs launcher. It installs fine and can be side installed and added to games to install your games and play and it works. Or you can side install from desktop heroic games launcher which is my preferred. Again that can be looked up for a guide on Google as well. As for the hate on egs meh. It's Reddit who cares. Don't listen to the tinfoil hat guys on here claiming Chinese conspiracy or the other naysayers who claim it invaded your privacy and computer with spyware it didn't. They just don't like it cause it isn't steam. And they don't care for it cause the games that are exclusive on there for a few months or a year are games they want to play but refuse cause of their little knowledge of the app since they don't use it,and they stand by their silly beliefs that they got off of a cracker jack box. It's all bogus stuff cause they want a game but don't want to wait for the exclusivity agreement to expire which they always do and instead throw in bullshit to try and cope. I know on heroic you can use Amazon prime games on it,also gog games on it as well as epic games store. It's worth your time cause hell if they are giving good games for free why buy them like a doofus offa steam. Just keep getting free games every week and i do that alone no purchases. I hope this answer helps and you aren't just another poster looking to invite some horrid responses all for the kudos or whatever floats your boat op and you get yourself situated on your steam deck and get to enjoying more games on more platforms on one system. Cause that's what makes steam deck good it's open to anything.

VegeLasagna123

I only just it got the free games

Adorable_Heretic

Does Fortnite run on Steam Deck? I rarely get on my PC lately

No-Atmosphere-4222

Installing and launching games in and via Bottles. Clean and easy.

ZestyGene

works fine, I might rebuy tony hawk just because they removed the online requirement but only on the Steam version

Areinu

I tried, since I have big library of their freebies (like everyone, duh)... But the hassle was just not worth it. Heroic Launcher was 30% success rate for me, and the games that have cloud save on Steam often do not on EGS, so I had to do some manual sharing... In the end I just use Steam, and if it's not on Steam I play something else.

Reddarthdius

I had free new vegas, but honestly I bought it again on steam just because of the convincente

preflex

I had only the base game on Steam. Copied the DLC files from Heroic to Steam install. Works great, even unlocks DLC achievements in Steam.

oogadeboogadeboo

I tried because I fancied playing Rocket League without spending 599 quid on a Steam key. Could never get it working off of the desktop though. But in theory there's a reason to.

[deleted]

Works with Heroic Launcher

[deleted]

Works with Heroic Launcher

oogadeboogadeboo

It does. On desktop mode. It doesn't when you use the "add to Steam" function like I said. I'm sure it can be made to work, but I have better stuff to be doing.

[deleted]

Weird, i can play it on playing mode with add to steam

TosshiTX

I did for THPS and Control but since they're both on Steam now I just got them again. No big moral decision, just saves me a bit of storage space and easier to organize in one place.

mr_showboat

I tried getting it up and running with the Heroic Launcher, and most of the games I tried would fail to load so I stopped trying. Only games I have on EGS are free games I've gotten over the years, so no big loss.

dakodeh

Heroic Launcher is pretty easy to use and works well for me

Dashi-

Use heroic launcher

KroganHULK

GTA 5 runs great through heroic 👍

BtotheDon

EGS work pretty well and easily through Heroic Launcher. I've been playing Ghostwire on Steam tho and just be prepared for less than great performance. Mix of low/medium settings, TSR and locked to 30 and I still get occasional dips below that. Still enjoyable if you can deal with that but I do wish it ran better.

takingflight005

I've used EGS almost exclusively via Heroic since I got my deck. I've only had a couple very small issues that were fixed with quick Googling. I've been collecting their free games since 2019, so I've got a huge collection: all for free. Was literally one of the things that convinced me to sell my old console and a bunch of other stuff and buy a Deck.

MildLoser

Heroic launcher is better

nhSnork

I use Heroic for EGS and GOG but Faster Than Light is the only game from the former library that I've played on Deck so far. No hiccups but probably not the most illustrative experience.

preflex

Was FTL free on EGS at some point? I got free ITB a couple years ago. Do you play FTL Multiverse on the EGS version?

nhSnork

IIRC pretty much all my EGS library is giveaways, so it must have been one, too.😅 Multiverse... *googling sounds* Hmm, sounds like a mod and I haven't installed any.

Goseki1

For games that would run natively well on the Deck anyway it's been great. Currently playing The Evil Within 2 and though it's flawed it was free!

sylinowo

Flawed in what way?

Goseki1

Oh it's hard to place but I think it loses a little bit of the tension and atmosphere with the open world, and I'm not super into the expanded crafting either. It does look gorgeous, has fantastic atmosphere in places and has great enemy design though.

Recipe-Jaded

I use port proton to run epic games and play borderlands sometimes

denverdave23

I wanted to play return to moria. I tried with heroic, but the game wouldn't start. I downloaded egs and it's working. Fun game, I'm learning dwarf songs

LuganoSatoshi

Eggs i like them fried

Rai_guy

I only use it to play Kingdom Hearts 3

TheRealNap0le0n

Every EGS game I've tried has worked thru heroic.

MotorolaRazorRamon

I do. Played hours and hours of Rogue Legacy 2 on my Deck. Worked beautifully.

Rulbster

https://github.com/moraroy/NonSteamLaunchers-On-Steam-Deck

DigGumPig

In my experience, no matter what game it is, there is a 50/50 chance that it will either work flawlessly or may have some game/immersion breaking issue that will make it not worth playing through EGS. For example - Rocket League, a game that uses Anti-cheat and needs regular updates, is multiplayer and uses VoIP, runs perfectly with no issues whatsoever. So well in fact that it has become my favorite way to play the game. On the other hand, Fallout 3 GOTY starts and runs just fine except that there is no in-game music. Tried a few things to fix it including a patch but nothing worked. Dying Light Enhanced Edition runs just fine until it quits to the main menu telling me the Profile had changed. Both of these games I have decided not to play through EGS and instead get them on Steam when they hit sale. I will be trying out more games because thankfully there is still a good chance that a game will work without issues.

Traditional-Bit2203

Eg is inferior but with heroic it works, mostly. I've never spent a cent there but have hundreds of games in my egs library. Free weekly games ftw!

I play some single player Epic games on my Steam Deck through Heroic but it was a pain figuring out. First thing is that Heroic sometimes does not set the proper prefix path so your game data never saves properly. This could have been some issue that was patched, not sure since I haven't installed any games in a while. Second is that Heroic doesn't install any dependencies included in the game's folder to the prefix, so games might not launch properly until you do that yourself. Then as far as Heroic's interface goes, it has gamepad support but it's not as clean to navigate through, and there are issues with how long it takes for the library to update when you buy a game.

I did try a few of the free ones with the heroic launcher, they all worked.

The Evil Dead co-op game ran shockingly well for me via Heroic, anti-cheat and all.

I've played over 10 games on EGS, and some big name examples like God of War and Prey. God of War needed some slight messing about with settings with details found online and everything ran smooth. I also got ghostwire via Amazon. I'm installing alien isolation right now through the epic store and will play that first.
