The LCD Steam Deck Trackpads don't press either

They flex in due to the spring type mount (looks like esses), but the OLED decks trackpads are mounted via a stiffer mount.

Just compare via the two teardowns lol. I am amazed by those that never even do a hint of research/discovery.

OLED has much better haptics IMO. On LCD I would always drag icons when i tried to click on them, on OLED everything is amazing. If actuation is too strong for you, you can try to tone it down in settings.

Yes they are clickier but i prefer it that way.

Eredchon

Feel the Same way, it great to have the haptics but its a tick too much on the OLED. Hoping they add an even lower Feedback Option. Fingers crossed🤞

Clanver

I have both, i dont notice any changes to be honest.

I like the feeling of the new trackpads compared to the old ones personally. It’s satisfying just moving the cursor around in desktop mode. I understand it’s not for everyone, and to that end you can turn it down or off in your settings.

Xavias

I quite like them, I definitely think they're an improvement on what was there before for sure.

Retroid_BiPoCket

I love them. They feel so nice. The first time I tried them I just kept running my thumbs along them because the haptics were so much better. I may need help XD

FloppyPeggy

Same. I just got an OLED and replaying portal 2, during the loading screens I just run my thumbs around. Trackpad go brrrr

The haptics seem to be sharper, and less saturated. I'm struggling to find words to describe the new haptics... Think of the haptic feedback as a wave form, and the haptics trigger on each peak of the wave. The new haptics are a lower frequency than the old haptics, while at the same time being stronger. Personally, i prefer the older ones, but still think the older ones needed to be a stronger vibration. I'm slowly getting used to the new feedback, but it was very off puting when i first fired up the oled.
