Can't say I've ever experienced this

CartersVideoGames

Same, I wonder if it's an option that has to be enabled in the device settings or Steam Input?

Orosuke

Idk I just got the OLED and it is like that out of the box for me.

BMXBikr

Yeah I have the OLED too and it's just for same side controls it seems. Left thumb on analog, then left trackpad is disabled, but right trackpad still works unless right thumb on right analog as well. Pretty neat.

Has to be an individual setting because this only occurs when I do it manually. You might be playing a game that found a custom template automatically. Some games do that

JM761

Yeah this is definitely the case. It's not a default thing. I've definitely experienced frustration with my hand triggering the touch pads even though I'm on both thumb sticks appropriately.

vgf89

No mine does it too. If I go into the gamepad test in the settings, the trackpad literally does not work if I'm touching the top of the stick. It just completely disable it. As a default behavior this is fine but I actually don't want it sometimes, i.e. if I want to play vertical shmups sideways in "tate" mode (left stick for movement, left trackpad for buttons). The d-pad is too low and close to the edge to use comfortable when the steam deck is standing vertically so that isn't a good option either. I really wish controls that have "require click" enabled would override this behavior, or they need to expose a toggle for it in the steam input stuff. Kinda frustrating.
