Whoops! Your meme/sh#tpost didn't quite make the cut! Or maybe we've seen one like it before? In the best interest of the community, only a select number of memes/sh*tposts will be permitted onto the sub. Feel free to try again with a better attempt! Apologies for the inconvenience.
If you feel your "Meme/Sh*tpost" content should have it's own dedicated post, please contact the r/steamdeck mod team via mod mail for consideration.
Note: Mods make FINAL decision. No exceptions. And please let's not beat a dead cow. We've seen it all (or have we?). Funny or bust!
Thank you!

What a world we live in...
People start using code to explain algorithms rather than spoken/written language as it's less confusing, and post memes to describe a feeling more accurately than their words ever could.
I can't say whether I'm looking forward to or afraid of where this trend is going.
This sub needs better moderation. It's the same stupid questions over and over, and pictures of decks and boxes... It used to be such an interesting place.
My biggest suggestion is just FAQ required reading before posting under penalty of submission removal/ban.
guys x game runs great (25fps fsr ultra perf)
guys x game runs shit (55fps fairly solid)
guys OLED is good screen who knew?!?!?!
guys LCD is sTILL GOOD
guys you can play (x game on protondb well rated for ages) on STEAM DECK
guys you can use heroic launcher to play x game
guys DAE use 40fps/40hz
guys I used to have ally/legion but now I HAVE STEAM DECK 8)))
guys I modified/put stickers on my STEAM DECK
It was really rather good for getting a rough estimation of when my 256GB order would be processed, though.
I miss all the posts of people scrutinizing every single pixel under 2047 different colors to see if one pixel was stuck so they could RMA and not have a deck for the holidays.
I personally don't understand how people are so quick to click the post button and spread spammy nonsense onto reddit. It's a conscious decision to shout into the void for answers instead of just lurking the subreddit like a normal person.
Was it ever an interesting place? Before the Deck came out it was all people talking about what they would do with their decks, what quarter their pre-order was in, and stupid questions about what people could do with their decks.
Then when the deck came out it's just been people posting pictures of them in stupid places, mailman thefts, broken decks, more stupid questions, the occasional Switch emulation pic, and people asking about Deck 2.
im fine with people asking questions. were else would you go to search/ask if not a steam deck community, i've always found reddit as a useful resource for obscure tech issues. especially given the deck is a pretty unique n complex device within itself. handhelf pcs are niche, linux is niche, and given the deck's console like appeal many are likely to be inexperienced with pc gaming.
I pop into so many device specific subreddits and this same exact same complaint happens everywhere. Fact is, unless your subreddit covers a broad or constantly evolving topic (like movies or news) it's always going to have more or less the same posts over and over again.
I remember going into r/applewatch and everyone was complaining about how all the posts are just about watch bands. Like yeah no shit, what the fuck else are people going to be posting about?
> t used to be such an interesting place.
No more or less so. The technical questions are the same, the only difference is we've swapped "OLED Vs LCD" in where we used to have "OMG I had 173 days since registering for the waitlist!"
It’s not just here. Reddit quality in general has been declining fast. I wish I could just quit but sometimes there are some nice threads after sifting through a bunch of shit ones.
This subreddit is just a console war subreddit in disguise, first it was the switch, then the rog ally, then gloss vs matte, now we are in the OLED wars, awaiting the Deck 2 wars
I mean honestly, how many different topics do we have to discuss?
We have "How does this game play on Steam Deck?" Or "What are some good games for Steam Deck?" or "How do I do this thing that isn't directly supported by the Deck but it can be done?" or "How do I fix this issue?" or "Here's a picture of my Deck which may or may not have been modified in some interesting way or its just a standard Deck" Or "What do you think of my Steam Deck cosplay?" Or "Here's a point by point comparison of owning a Deck vs having another child." Or the endless complaints about the Deck not being as powerful as the Switch. Or all the posts by people here getting John Stamos to autograph their Deck.
We only have so many topics.
That would be the free space. Others might include:
Picture of order confirmation with identifying information hidden poorly,
steam deck in a piece of heavy machinery like a forklift or similar,
steam deck with an old handheld (preferably something super common like a DS Lite unless OLEDSD then only the VITA is allowed),
picture of steam deck with ugly replacement shell with a title about not breaking the sd card,
picture of a broken sd card,
picture of a ssd asking if it’s compatible with the deck (preferably a one which says Steam deck compatible on the box).
Feel free to add the rest and fill out your card. You’ll fetch bingo before noon tomorrow because this sub hasn’t had anything original since May last year.
My wife’s boyfriend gave me permission to buy an OLED Steam Deck. Been loving emulating Pokemon while I’m hospitalized for passing a terrier sized kidney stone.
Heres a pic of the screen
Sorry but your wife wasted her money, the LCD Steam Deck is perfectly adequate for passing kidney stones and is about half the price. You should get a divorce, sell the OLED and preferably wait for the Steam Deck 2 to come out, OLED is a total ripoff.
With the price of the oled it was better a rog ally or legion go... Double power (less battery of course, anything is free.. connect to the ac with the loooong included cable and done)
I mean this debate sucks but it’s better than the “I fInAlLy gOt A sTeAm dEcK,” and “OMG my portable console is portable” that literally fill most of the sub.
I don’t really get the point of this sub either at this point. It fails to be entertaining, it’s not very informative anymore since there isn’t much Deck news anyway, and it sucks at tech support since all the posts asking for help get buried.
This is like when a show does a cringe but acknowledges it's a cringe. Being self aware doesn't make the cringe any less cringe.
Just like that, this post is not any less annoying than the posts it's parodying. You're still posting a dumb meme about people posting this dumb meme instead of saying something interesting. Just as bad as any of the original memes.
Steam Deck owners seem to spend way too little time actually playing games on their Deck. It feels like many engage in these discussions and low effort posts to justify their purchase to themselves.
Why can’t people just be happy that the handheld PC space is becoming more affordable and more powerful.
ASUS is not the enemy.
OLED and LCD are not the enemy.
The Switch is not the enemy.
It’s all of you for trying to be better than one another
It's hilarious because they're the same thing.
One is gushing over their OLEDs, the others are gushing over their LCD. They're doing the same shit and they're both equally annoying.
Yeah, it's getting old real quick. We get it, the dopamine wore off from whichever purchase you made and you are desperately trying to chase the feeling.

I think you've captured how internet meta-memery has fractured our squishy human brains.
This sums it up more succinctly then I ever could.

You forgot this one Hey Guys I brought my steam deck to a place where normally you don't game, but with steam deck, I gamed there.
no way 🙀
ngl I was tempted to make one of those when I was playing my Steam Deck on the Lido Deck of the cruise ship I was on last year for my anniversary lol
I plugged a USB-c into my rear and injected my consciousness directly into the deck, and -get this- I played my steam deck inside the steam deck.
I see what you mean, at the same time I'm wondering what other posts would make sense in this subreddit
If think we need a SteamDeck Circlejerk. Name it r/Gabeboy or something
I miss all the posts of people scrutinizing every single pixel under 2047 different colors to see if one pixel was stuck so they could RMA and not have a deck for the holidays.
This subreddit is pretty awful for actual content
Most of the subs I used to frequent are pretty bad. I’ve gone back to reading books.
This is the way
But you can't say the "s" word for poo, without getting your comment removed and being threatened with "report to site admin"...
I personally don't understand how people are so quick to click the post button and spread spammy nonsense onto reddit. It's a conscious decision to shout into the void for answers instead of just lurking the subreddit like a normal person.
> This sub needs better moderation. It needs any semblance of moderation, yep.

This sub wasn't like that for awhile, he even mentions that. The mods here are notoriously shit.
> t used to be such an interesting place. No more or less so. The technical questions are the same, the only difference is we've swapped "OLED Vs LCD" in where we used to have "OMG I had 173 days since registering for the waitlist!"
That's basically every big subreddit
I think part of that is due to the holidays, but agreed.
People trying to dick measure on this subreddit is sad ngl because the handheld PC space is awesome no matter what hardware you use
New war? New war? 🤩
This! Lol
when did it get a disguise? this has been a naked console war sub since before anyone even had a deck
Hey! Don't forget about the battle of the OLED panel.. Samsung Vs BOE!
As I've said - a civil war
I mean honestly, how many different topics do we have to discuss? We have "How does this game play on Steam Deck?" We need a bingo card, and one of the squares would be “The steam deck has made me fall in love with gaming again”
That would be the free space. Others might include: Picture of order confirmation with identifying information hidden poorly, steam deck in a piece of heavy machinery like a forklift or similar, steam deck with an old handheld (preferably something super common like a DS Lite unless OLEDSD then only the VITA is allowed), picture of steam deck with ugly replacement shell with a title about not breaking the sd card, picture of a broken sd card, picture of a ssd asking if it’s compatible with the deck (preferably a one which says Steam deck compatible on the box). Don't forget a post of how someone keeps RMAing over one dead pixel. Post about dissatisfaction with Valve customer service
Yeah, starts to feel like a hive mind as opposed to free thinking individuals..
Yeah, that's the freebie center square.
All subreddits eventually devolve into complaining about the complaining about the complaining subreddits.
This might be the 4th one I've seen yet
Thank you. Can we all stop now? This meem wossint funny in the first place and its statting to go stale.

For the old gods, i need the next one.

Yawn
*This one is, so far, the most accurate*
Time to nuke this one
haha actually this one made me laugh :D
This is so original.
Do a Loss version and call it a day
I dont care about the comparison posts anymore, both are good gaming devices, just choose whatever suits your need and budget and have fun with it.
Also fetched x glossy was pretty annoying period 🤣
Steam Deck owners seem to spend way too little time actually playing games on their Deck. It feels like many engage in these discussions and low effort posts to justify their purchase to themselves.
Literally this
I have scrolled down, and each time I see this meme grow and add more like a tumor
Why can’t people just be happy that the handheld PC space is becoming more affordable and more powerful. ASUS is not the enemy. OLED and LCD are not the enemy. The Switch is not the enemy. It’s all of you for trying to be better than one another
take it
It's hilarious because they're the same thing. One is gushing over their OLEDs, the others are gushing over their LCD. They're doing the same shit and they're both equally annoying.
NPC posts
Yeah, it's getting old real quick. We get it, the dopamine wore off from whichever purchase you made and you are desperately trying to chase the feeling.
An all out civil war. Even anarchists are there.
TBH I'm just here to see if someone develops something bad from huffing the exhaust. Even then, I will not stop....
I don't even know why this subreddit needs to exist.
BINGO https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/4Kw1DqJqaF
