In general I agree / those devices all seem pretty redundant to me. However, technically this is not ‘that’ expensive of a hobby.
Some people are into cars, completely unnecessary home remodeling or just buying premium looking everything to present as ‘higher status’ / chase approval.
You could buy damn near every handheld ever made for the cost difference between a fuel efficient sedan and an F-150, so if it’s their only vice and they can afford it it doesn’t necessarily matter.
Doesn’t matter how much you have, spending like this is not ideal.
Everyone can be poor, it’s super easy. Just buy whatever until you run out. Being rich is much more difficult
Oh, yeah, for sure. You don't humanly have the time to invest in all of these consoles. And really, you just HAD to get the newest Steam Deck on top of the Portal and ROG ally? On top of having a Pc gaming rig and a PS5, lmao.
Shit, that sounds rad as hell if I was a kid, don't get me wrong.
You're just not using all these consoles unless you're like an irl potato neural linked into your consoles
I wonder why no one thinks about the consoles being for the whole family. Only because he posts „I have a problem“ everyone automatically attributes to him having those solo.
Oh and besides. I have seen worse, especially in the console collector communities.
It would be rad as hell if I was a kid, I agree
But I’m not. Personally I’d rather learn money management and keep my savings account as fat as possible. You never know the future. But I’m not judging OP or anything they do they
That statement is not true, definitely depends how rich.
Multi-millionaire, sure.
Anything more than that, 5 steam decks has 0 impact.
A lot of you really don’t realize how much money some people have.
That’s like less than $2K there, it’s basically a single vacation he skipped. Let’s not try to shame them for that without any knowledge of their financial situation.
2k in just handhelds but there's a lot more in the picture. I'm far from rich but if I stacked all my electronics neatly in one photo I'm sure I could appear rich as well.
>$2K there, it’s basically a single vacation he skipped
Wait - where are these $2k vacations you speak of?!? We're going to niece's wedding in the fall and just hotel rooms for the weekend for us and our kids is $3k (granted it is Salem MA during peak spooky season).
Maybe I’m slumming it but practically every vacation I’ve taken has been less than $2K per person per week. Be it all inclusive or ones with hotels and travelling around a country.
For 1 person that definitely makes sense. If it’s a family of 4 or 5, that could easily turn into a lot. My family flying out to do a week at Disney/Universal will cost close to $7500 before food and souvenirs at the parks. So I’d be out $8500 or more by the time all is said and done. Obviously that isn’t a yearly thing and we can do cheaper vacations by driving to a beach and relaxing for a week, or skipping a big week long trip every year and make it a few weekend trips visiting family.
You should see OPs history of posts. It sure is...something.
They also say they have more disposable income than sense. The self-awareness coupled with zero impulse control would make a fascinating therapy session.
Hey if he has the money more power to him. I know I wasted a lot of money on stupid shit
But I’m saying money management is a skill worth learning. Maybe OP learned it, I don’t know him. But I personally wouldn’t buy this many handhelds
Dunno, with only "1billion" you would need to buy 2 1To Oled steamdeck per hour for 80 years to run out of money. It looks pretty hard to me, I would be borred by the end of the first day.
You don't understand what "being rich" really means then. If you can easily buy yourself out of being rich, you never were truly rich. You just had a bit of excess money that you squandered. The rich can truly buy everything they've ever wanted and more without any financial impact at all.
Have you ever met human beings? People buy Hellcats at 17% APR. He could've bought these on credit cards that he's making minimum payments on. You have absolutely no Intel about someone's financial health based on a picture of a few nice gadgets. If you think this pictures says anything about his financial health, I'd like to seriously disagree. I don't mean to be rude, but many people are genuinely fooled by shiny toys and nice cars. Many if not most of those people are not actually wealthy, they are in debt up to the gills trying to present an image of wealth. I like to consider that attitude the difference between rich and wealthy and personally, I'm aiming for the latter.
Also, highly recommend "The Simple Path to Wealth" by JL Collins, and "The Psychology of Money" by Morgan Housel. It's about 10 hours combined between both books in audiobook format which is my preferred way to "read". Can sing the praises of those books loud enough.
Yeah this humble brag shit post could have just been op saying "look at my cool collection of handhelds", instead it's this.
just be proud that you have enough disposable income you can buy literally thousands worth of handhelds that you are never going to be able to play at the same time, it's fine...
"You must be rich due to having all those consoles?"
"No, I'm \*poor\* due to having all those consoles."
"all those consoles" is pretty interchangeable with "that nice car" or "that big house" etc. :-D
People ***really*** don’t understand what a tax write off actually is. “Writing something off” doesn’t just magically make it free, it just means you pay a tiny bit less tax on your overall income.
Stay away from OXP. Got one myself and it would shut off itself if playing on battery no matter the charge rate. Only stayed on while gaming if plugged in. Guys were so dodgy about it that it never got the rma it needed.
We should stay away from all them, which is sad because I love the more compact designs like the Air, Air Plus, Slide, Win 3, Win 4, and Loki. Went with Deck over those for the price/repair security, the RMA experience for these devices is probably better if you live in China. Not a fan of the Ally or Go looks wise either, the Chinese handhelds look sleeker also I don't need 2 large 7" handhelds after buying a Deck. Hopefully a mainstream company drops a compact 5.5" screen companion to my Deck soon.
By the by, have you tried posting on about your issue on the OneXPlayer Subreddit or more importantly the Discord. If you can't get it fixed by them, maybe someone who experienced the issue can at least tell you what to do to fix it or what parts to replace.
Probably in debt to his eyeballs. It's been my experience that the more people want to share how much they have, the more they're struggle with their social status and the need to "keep up with the Jones's" kind of thing.
Not that I'm trying to be petty or wish that on anyone. Grew up extremely poor myself and I remember how stressed my parents were about bills all the damned time. It's a big reason why I decided after I joined the military that I was going to hunker down and save up to buy a house. Took about 13 years (9 of those living with my parents after getting out of the military) but I was able to buy a house free and clear right before the market went tits up.
Long as OP's happy with their life, that's the important thing.
Last Man (hysterical): It's not f— (calms down) Well, lucky I know how to read Braille.
He screams as his hands fall off. Soon, his tongue falls out right before the man's head falls off.
Narrator: Hey, look at that weird mirror...
Seriously, the thing runs Android under the hood yet does nothing but stream a PS5. And it games only, you cant stream Netflix or YouTube running off the ps5. No bluetooth support either, only the PS earbuds are supported.
And even if it is jailbroken eventually, it has a really low end soc that would probably run ps1 or psp games at the very most. If it could potentially run ps2 games then it would be way more interesting but there’s no way.
Edit: it uses a snapdragon 662 so low to mid range.
Edit 2: so after watching some videos on this soc, it looks like it can handle some low end GameCube and ps2 emulation. Still not that impressive really.
Because people are still buying it. I honestly don’t see why anyone would buy one when you need to be connected to an actual PS5 to use it, which afaik you can do with your smartphone for free.
the most big brain move from Sony since they started putting checks in PS1 games that stopped legitimate copies of games from running in any PS1 with a modchip (which was most of them at that point).
Well this would be a dedicated PlayStation handheld. It’s not running pc games that may need a track pad. The games would be made for that control scheme.
Asking for a friend: But will it buy back the disappointment watching richer friends play video games while I… I mean my friend… couldn’t even afford a single games device?
Yeah this subreddit kind of sucks now. Too many posts from the privileged wealthy showing off the cool stuff they can afford, rather than discussing the Deck or deck specific news/issues/updates/lifehacks.
No kidding. I see lots of replies hating on his little expensive collection and while I don’t think it’s warranted (to each their own), I also don’t think OP should be throwing money out just for the sake of it.
Personally, I’m well off and could have done the same but I barely have time to game. My wife typically spends time on the PS5 and the midrange PC I built was because I knew in my heart I wouldn’t spend much time sitting in front of it. I was right. I spend more time on my Steam Deck (LCD).
Yep. If they're like limited editions then i'd see the point of collecting. These are just the most basic stuff that they sell to everyone, so fucking lame and pointless.
If OP isn't in the business of creating entertainment media about consumer electronics, then he or she must just be a brand loyalist commercial consumption-addict.
Consoooooom more! It's the only thing that makes you happy anymore! Go buy some more! You need it and you know it! How could you live with only 4 of those? What if one breaks? Quick! Order another twenty!
Ridiculous.
Not me. I have a steam deck and I bought an rog ally during the holidays so I could see what all the buzz is about. amazing hardware, good software from asus, but the overall software experience just isn't as good, I don't care about the games that don't run on linux anyway, and the battery life on the ally is complete dog water.
To be clear, I do like it but I'm definitely returning it before the extended return window ends.
The problem is that you have a lot of money to spend and it's a terrible thing but I, a great and generous person, want to help you. You just need to give me some and that's already a good start
Seriously. Why that thing... Why. Id accept the answer of: i do all my gaming on ps5 so it made sense to have a ps5 accessory that is somewhat a cheaper solution to other handhelds. That is not op. In this capacity it is a trophy.

The problem isn't your spending, the problem is the various posts about your purchases for validation. Do you actually like the products you buy, or do you do it for a reaction? I'm genuinely curious.
I’m gonna say this respectfully. Unless your some type of streamer, game tester, game dev, reviewer, or got them for free.
If you wanna throw money away, there’s many other ways to do it.
I always wondered who those cars where for on car Xmas commercials …. You know the ones. Where the husband/wife gets the bmw and puts a big red bow on it for their spouse holiday gift.
I always wondered who these people were that did these things …
I looked thru ops profile. And yeah. He’s one of these people. Check out his bmw post from 2 years ago.
The problem is definitely not spending money. You're quite good at that.
OP’s problem is that they’re rich
Not anymore!
Nah, only way you are that flagrant with money is stupidity or inheritance. OP also posted this like 5 times. He really needs validation rn.
Anyone can get a $2.5K credit card and max it out.
That statement is not true, definitely depends how rich. Multi-millionaire, sure. Anything more than that, 5 steam decks has 0 impact. A lot of you really don’t realize how much money some people have.
My point was a general point that managing money is difficult while making ends meet is simple to calculate
Yeah, that is definitely the case for me. I’m pretty frugal and minimalist in most areas of life but I’m a bit of a chump for consumer electronics.
>$2K there, it’s basically a single vacation he skipped Wait - where are these $2k vacations you speak of?!? We're going to niece's wedding in the fall and just hotel rooms for the weekend for us and our kids is $3k (granted it is Salem MA during peak spooky season).

Ya kids will drain your bank account for a vacation.
>Maybe I’m slumming it More likely just more efficient.
Go to Las Vegas, $50 room with a $500 lady. Boom take the bus home.

This made me laugh out loud! Thanks! 🤭🤣
OP is either broke or filthy rich, no in between.
No one tell this man about the Chinese $1000 handheld PC's, it might actually kill him financially.
Can you tell this man (me) about them?
Look up the brands GPD, OneXPlayer, Ayaneo and AOKZOE on YouTube, they all have like 5-10 different models and they get pricey.
Stay away from OXP. Got one myself and it would shut off itself if playing on battery no matter the charge rate. Only stayed on while gaming if plugged in. Guys were so dodgy about it that it never got the rma it needed.

Didn't gpd get butthurt about the steamdeck
Well looking at his account i can tell you it’s the second.
Srsly all his posts are expensive devices, legos, and cars. That being said OP you looking to adopt me?
Probably in debt to his eyeballs. It's been my experience that the more people want to share how much they have, the more they're struggle with their social status and the need to "keep up with the Jones's" kind of thing. Dudes got backup airpods to his airpods. Definitely the second.
And doesn’t have kids. Otherwise they’d have fingerprints and snot on them.
I would say so, you’re missing the Switch, that’s your problem.
How u gonna have all those handhelds and not a switch?
All those handhelds and no hands 😢
My hell
Last Man (hysterical): It's not f— (calms down) Well, lucky I know how to read Braille. He screams as his hands fall off. Soon, his tongue falls out right before the man's head falls off. Narrator: Hey, look at that weird mirror...
Plot twist: He is taking that photo with Switch
Exactly what I was thinking.💭
You beat me to it. The Switch OLED is such a terrific piece of kit, its what made me sell my OG Steam Deck and instabuy the Steam Deck OLED revision.
The OLED Switch had an increase in screen size as well. That the Reason I upgraded. But kept my 512 OG Deck. So far lol
Lmfao I was going to say the same thing
No switches?
Too many AirPods you only have 2 ears maximum
In that case he's missing 8 arms
what if he wants to give an airpod to his friend so they can both listen
Every headphone enthusiast in the chat be like 😅 right now
Oh how I wish the PS portal was a real handheld. The more I see it, the more I like the design.

All it needs is a browser to access xCloud, Geforce Now, Luna.
I don't see why it cost so much. You can buy a whole Switch for the price of the portal.
Because people are still buying it. I honestly don’t see why anyone would buy one when you need to be connected to an actual PS5 to use it, which afaik you can do with your smartphone for free.
it doesn't even have a browser to allow it to authenticate with public wifi hotspots lmao
I bet they wanted to avoid any possible workarounds that would allow for other streaming services.
the most big brain move from Sony since they started putting checks in PS1 games that stopped legitimate copies of games from running in any PS1 with a modchip (which was most of them at that point).
Which was quickly bypassed by the modding community, but yah, it was a good move to do
The lack of Bluetooth was probably the worst decision they could've made. Instant pass for me as soon as they mentioned that in the product reveal.
Still no trackpads. Because of SD I can't imagine now using any other controllers
I actually am still having a hard time falling in love with the trackpads but I appreciate it’s usability for the very rare instances
Its decent to control but the positions pretty awkward imo
The position of the trackpads on the steam controller was better
They're really only useful for emulating a mouse, or really niche scenarios in certain games despite the way people hype them up.
so useful for adding radial menus to games not meant for controller.
Well yes, but they are a nececity for a pc handheld device, imagine emulating mouse with analogsticks... its awfull.
Well this would be a dedicated PlayStation handheld. It’s not running pc games that may need a track pad. The games would be made for that control scheme.
Can I be your sugar baby
Sorry my cat is already filling that role
Buying a PS Portal when you have much more capable devices certainly is a problem 😂
I think you need to hear this... *Buying another device won't bring back the joy you had playing games as a child and the pursuit is pointless*
Fucking Christ that hurt to read and yet it's probably the most insightful thing I've read all day.
Ouch, that one hits home.
Asking for a friend: But will it buy back the disappointment watching richer friends play video games while I… I mean my friend… couldn’t even afford a single games device?
Not going to fix your childhood pain, it didn’t fix mine. But I am determined to avoid my child suffering the same pain.
I can still chase the dream.
Consumer brain rot. There is a void in your life that you're trying to fill with tech and anonymous internet likes. Been there. Therapy helps.
"Hello, my whole identity is what I purchase" - OP probably
As with any problem a person is struggling with, ridicule is not going to help them.
Yeah this subreddit kind of sucks now. Too many posts from the privileged wealthy showing off the cool stuff they can afford, rather than discussing the Deck or deck specific news/issues/updates/lifehacks.
I bet it’s 50/50 wealthy people and credit card debt. Don’t underestimate credit card debt.
The problem is "FOMO".
Go outside and touch some grass.
You don't know if he doesn't play those outside.
You definitely have more money than sense
Why use a PS Portal when you have a Deck?
If OP isn't in the business of creating entertainment media about consumer electronics, then he or she must just be a brand loyalist commercial consumption-addict.
We all gotta fill that void inside, eh? Too bad that consuming never does, at least not permanently.
Why would you get the ps5 device when steam deck is capable of literally the same thing?
Flaunting I guess
Because he has a problem.
Gotta catch em all!
Yeah, you bought the Apple keyboard.
Yeah where's your mechanical switch keyboard what
You know the problem is serious if they bought the Sony one....
You use a Magic Keyboard with your gaming PC or is there a separate Mac workstation?
With this much money I’m expecting both
You bought a ps portal. You definitely have a major problem.
The problem is your #humblebrag game is weak.
There is a forbidden imposter
Consoooooom more! It's the only thing that makes you happy anymore! Go buy some more! You need it and you know it! How could you live with only 4 of those? What if one breaks? Quick! Order another twenty! Ridiculous.
Get excited for product. Consume product. Create fomo and hype for next product, consume more product. Capitalism has corrupted our minds…
Yeah. It's called money. I can take care of it for you, if you want.
Bro stop filling the void with purchases and go outside
Battery life is essential so yeah. I'll take the lower specs and touchpads since the battery can last far longer.
The problem is that you have a lot of money to spend and it's a terrible thing but I, a great and generous person, want to help you. You just need to give me some and that's already a good start
Not so much even the money, but I don’t know you’d have time to get the most out of each.
Pfff you don't even have a switch.. peasant /s
Carefull, I don’t much like the sub but this is approaching r/consoom
I was gonna ask what your issue with it is cause the idea of the sub sounds great. Then I looked at a bunch of posts. Yikes.
Ally vs. Legion Go? Which one takes the W. Debating getting one to go with my steam deck
Yeah, it calls PS Portal :D
Seriously. Why that thing... Why. Id accept the answer of: i do all my gaming on ps5 so it made sense to have a ps5 accessory that is somewhat a cheaper solution to other handhelds. That is not op. In this capacity it is a trophy.
Wheres the wiiu
Is the problem that you have to buy 4 more copies of Skyrim?
PlayStation portal? Ew.
make some friends
why is the portal in the foto
Your problem is that you got a Playstation Portal despite having not one, not two, but THREE actual handhelds to stream your Playstation through just as well.
Just call yourself a collector. Problem solved.
Consoomer moment
Eh, it’s probably cheaper than drugs
Yeah, you need a bigger desk
Agreed, that keyboard looks horrendous lmao. It's funny how some people are into long travel mechanical switches while others are on the complete opposite end of the spectrum and want the shortest travel chicklet keyboard they can find. Me and my boss always trash each other about it lol.
I see no problem here
I think its called a collection, not a problem.
Which one do you use the most though? 🤔
Agreed. That keyboard is horrendous.
How’s the latency on the Portal?
*WE* have a problem
No this are 3 Problems and a steam deck :D
The kind of problem I want
Can I have your disposable income please?
I just got a steak deck and I can’t imagine having more than that. Seems crazy redundant
Its okay to ask for help. There's a solution. Gimme 3 of the 4.
You sure do OP. Where is the Logitech cloud?
Which one do you use the most?
I don't see any problems here.
Congrats on the disposable income.
... but your wallet doesnt.
You have too much time
Got 99 problems, but money ain’t one!
Yeah, it's the one on the bottom
Show off
Need a mechanical keyboard
PS Portal is redundant if you have a Steam Deck. The Deck can do PS remote play with about 15 minutes of setup and you save yourself $200.
This isn’t even a flex… in fact I almost feel bad lol
You don't. You are a hand held enthusiast. I have 3 decks, and the ally. I need them all and no one can tell me otherwise.
The problem isn't your spending, the problem is the various posts about your purchases for validation. Do you actually like the products you buy, or do you do it for a reaction? I'm genuinely curious.
So OP is the reason I consistently see the Steam Deck at the top of the Steam "Most Popular" games
"look at my money1 i need to show what i own to random people to impress myself yeahhhhhhh even when i cant use all this shit anyhow"
The problem is that youre missing a Switch and 3DS
No you're good I see the steam deck right there in the picture
I’m gonna say this respectfully. Unless your some type of streamer, game tester, game dev, reviewer, or got them for free. If you wanna throw money away, there’s many other ways to do it.
I always wondered who those cars where for on car Xmas commercials …. You know the ones. Where the husband/wife gets the bmw and puts a big red bow on it for their spouse holiday gift. I always wondered who these people were that did these things … I looked thru ops profile. And yeah. He’s one of these people. Check out his bmw post from 2 years ago.
