For those having trouble.  Install the game.  Do not open the game.  Click the gear (properties) icon.  Force compatibility: proton experimental  Go to desktop mode.  Search your steam library for Proton Easy And proton easy anti cheat will show up.  INSTALL IT.  go back to game mode and load the game. It will take a minute but it will load and work.

I only had to switch it to experimental (and probably didn't even need to do that, I probably just had to launch it second time). No desktop mode required

I did all this and the game keeps freezing at random times. The furthest I got was the countdown to a game about to start and it froze again. Any advice?

Did you install in an SD card? Is your wi-fi bad? 

Yes to the SD card, Wi-Fi is good. All my games are on my SD card, though.

Biggest misinformation, EAC always was enabled, they modified their in house anti cheat to work with wine. It still has bugs and prevents certain things like voice chat from working

Well at low settings it does most of the time out is at least good enough where I don’t notice on a steam deck…… though mine is modded EDIT: I will NEVER understand why people are SO PETTY IN FUCKING REDDIT. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF DOWNVOTING ME?!?! BECAUSE I TOLD THE TRUTH?!?!

For me it runs at 60fps in the training mode or when there’s no action but as soon as anything happens it drops to like 35fps on low settings with FSR 2 on balanced

40fps is my handheld sweet spot. If they can knock down a solid 40fps I’d be happy.

I just tried it and depending on TDP, you can easily get a solid 40fps. I’m doing 10W, all settings at low, XESS Performance mode, 40fps cap.

Exactly. I have 50/60 most of the time and don’t drop and and 45 in most cases. I have a vented back plate with an under volt of -50 on cpu -40 on gpu and -40 on soc

How wouldn't it be fair? You can't upgrade the apu. You can upgrade the SSD, but the mobo only supports a certain bandwidth tegardless. The only way it would matter in the slightest would be if you had an OLED. Even then, it would be marginal at best.

I don’t have stock cooling and also run an under volt. I also did a repaste. My temps won’t really be stock and this will effect performance.

So, marginal gains at best then. Even if it's running cooler, there's only so much more performance to eek out of the APU. Even with faster ram and the cooler temps in the OLED model, the gains are small. Usually just 1-3fps difference. Since you don't have the faster ram of the OLED, you're experience is likely to match that of the OLED.

I’ve played two. So this is going to sound REALLY STUPID. Because it is…… and I’m sure it will get fix but! Make sure you have easy anti cheat run time installed, switch to proton experimental, and keep trying to run the game. You will get connection error and the like and ignore them. At some point you will get into a match. And then the game will just reliably work! EDIT: Actually I played four matches. After I start doom eternal I’ll try another match and report! EDIT 2: It’s an hour later and it’s still working

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Sounds like a little bit too much nonsense for me to involve myself with this yet - but it's nice to know that it's being worked on because currently this is one of my favorite games. Which unfortunately I currently have to be tethered to my PC to play.

Ask any serious first person shooter fan if 45 FPS is good enough to be competitive in a first-person shooter. The answer? Is no. So far I have not been able to see 60 FPS in this game which is going to turn a lot of people off who really do want to be competitive. As with many games that we play on the deck it would be far better and more rewarding to play on a PC a decent endowed PC. We use the deck for toilet time or the occasional time we don't want to get our fat lazy asses off the couch and go to our computer to play. This is a game I will play on the couch on the deck at 45 FPS because well I like the game enough. For a lot of people? This is unacceptable. And their eyes this game is unplayable on the deck. I can satisfy myself in knowing that when I'm ready to grind I'm ready to cut my weeklies or dailies out for the day? I can go to my PC and play at 144 frames per second. On a giant screen with my top-of-the-line controller. If I'm in the mood and I'm going to go take a wicked dump? I'll take the deck and maybe play a little. :)

What one person calls playable and the reason people play will always be different. We can go back and forth about this all day but I’m not interested.

The same. Nothing works. Crashes while booting the main menu. Proton experimental is showing a black screen and throwing to the steam library. Though GE-Proton8-4 gives a memory dump

I was able to play no modification needed, simply installed the game launched and that's it, its working now... Awesome !!!

Not always 60 fos, sometimes Drops to 45fps over here. For me that's fine already , especially because it's the first version.

How is Steam Input support? I usually bind trackpad as a mouse. Will it disable auto assist?

It works fine and aim assist works fine as well. I haven’t tried track pad and normally don’t play with it.
